Deuteronomy 16:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 "Remember, in the month of Abib you must celebrate Passover to honor the Lord your God. It was that night in Abib when the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt.
2 You must go to the place the Lord your God will choose to be the home for his name. There you must offer the Passover sacrifice to honor the Lord. You must offer the cattle and goats.
3 Don't eat bread that has yeast in it with this sacrifice. You must eat unleavened bread for seven days. This bread is called 'Bread of Trouble.' It will help you remember the troubles you had in Egypt. Remember how quickly you had to leave that country. You must remember that day as long as you live.
4 There must be no yeast in anyone's house anywhere in the country for seven days. And all the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day must be eaten before morning.
5 "You must not sacrifice the Passover animal in any of the towns that the Lord your God gives you.
6 You must sacrifice the Passover animal only at the place that the Lord your God will choose to be the home for his name. There you must sacrifice the Passover animal in the evening when the sun goes down. This is the festival when you remember that God brought you out of Egypt.
7 You must cook the meal and eat it at the place the Lord your God will choose. The next morning you may go back home.
8 You must eat unleavened bread six days. On the seventh day you must not do any work. On this day the people will come together for a special meeting to honor the Lord your God.
9 "You must count seven weeks from the time you begin to harvest the grain.
10 Then celebrate the Festival of Weeks for the Lord your God. Do this by bringing him some special gift you want to bring. Decide how much to give by thinking about how much the Lord your God has blessed you.
11 Go to the place the Lord will choose to be the home for his name. You and your people should enjoy yourselves together there with the Lord your God. Take all your people with you—your sons, your daughters, and all your servants. And take the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows living in your towns.
12 Remember, you were slaves in Egypt. So be sure to obey these laws.
13 "Seven days after you have gathered your harvest in from your threshing floor and from your winepress, you should celebrate the Festival of Shelters.
14 Enjoy yourselves at this festival—you, your sons, your daughters, all your servants, and the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows living in your towns.
15 Celebrate this festival for seven days at the special place the Lord will choose. Do this to honor the Lord your God. The Lord your God blessed your harvest and all the work you did, so be very happy!
16 "Three times a year all your men must come to meet with the Lord your God at the special place he will choose. They must come for the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Shelters. Everyone who comes to meet with the Lord must bring a gift.
17 Each man should give as much as he can. He should decide how much to give by thinking about how much the Lord has given him.
18 "Choose men to be judges and officers in every town that the Lord your God gives you. Every tribe must do this. And these men must be fair in judging the people.
19 You must always be fair. You must not favor some people over other people. You must not take money to change your mind in judgment. Money blinds the eyes of wise people and changes what a good person will say.
20 Goodness and Fairness! You must try very hard to be good and fair all the time. Then you will live and keep the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
21 "When you set up an altar for the Lord your God, you must not place beside the altar any of the wooden poles that honor the goddess Asherah.
22 You must not set up special stones for worshiping false gods. The Lord your God hates them.

2 Thou shalt therefore sacrifice H2076 the passover H6453 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS , of the flock H6629 NMS and the herd H1241 W-NMS , in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS shall choose H977 to place H7931 his name H8034 CMS-3MS there H8033 ADV .
3 Thou shalt eat H398 VQY2MS no H3808 NADV leavened bread H2557 with H5921 PREP-3MS it ; seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NUM-MS shalt thou eat H398 unleavened bread H4682 therewith H5921 PREP-3MS , even the bread H3899 NMS of affliction H6040 ; for H3588 CONJ thou camest forth H3318 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS in haste H2649 : that H4616 L-CONJ thou mayest remember H2142 the day H3117 NMS when thou camest forth H3318 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS all H3605 NMS the days H3117 NUM-MS of thy life H2416 CMS-2MS .
4 And there shall be no H3808 W-NPAR leavened bread H7603 seen H7200 with thee in all H3605 B-CMS thy coast H1366 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP ; neither H3808 W-NPAR shall there any thing of H4480 PREP the flesh H1320 D-NMS , which H834 RPRO thou sacrificedst H2076 the first H7223 day H3117 B-AMS at even H6153 , remain all night H3885 VQY3MS until the morning H1242 .
5 Thou mayest H3201 not H3808 NADV sacrifice H2076 the passover H6453 within any H259 of thy gates H8179 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS giveth H5414 VQPMS thee :
6 But H518 PART at H413 PREP the place H4725 D-NMS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall choose H977 to place H7931 his name H8034 CMS-3MS in , there H8033 ADV thou shalt sacrifice H2076 the passover H6453 at even H6153 , at the going down H935 K-VQFC of the sun H8121 D-NMS , at the season H4150 NMS that thou camest forth H3318 out of Egypt H4714 .
7 And thou shalt roast H1310 and eat H398 W-VQQ2MS it in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall choose H977 : and thou shalt turn H6437 in the morning H1242 , and go H1980 unto thy tents H168 .
8 Six H8337 days H3117 NMP thou shalt eat H398 VQY2MS unleavened bread H4682 : and on the seventh H7637 D-ONUM day H3117 shall be a solemn assembly H6116 to the LORD H3068 L-EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS : thou shalt do H6213 no H3808 NADV work H4399 therein .
9 Seven H7651 NUM-MS weeks H7620 shalt thou number H5608 unto thee : begin H2490 to number H5608 the seven H7651 NUM-MS weeks H7620 from such time as thou beginnest H2490 to put the sickle H2770 to the corn H7054 .
10 And thou shalt keep H6213 the feast H2282 of weeks H7620 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS with a tribute H4530 of a freewill offering H5071 of thine hand H3027 CFS-2MS , which H834 RPRO thou shalt give H5414 VQY2MS unto the LORD thy God , according as H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS hath blessed H1288 thee :
11 And thou shalt rejoice H8055 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS , thou H859 PPRO-2MS , and thy son H1121 , and thy daughter H1323 , and thy manservant H5650 , and thy maidservant H519 , and the Levite H3881 that H834 RPRO is within thy gates H8179 , and the stranger H1616 , and the fatherless H3490 , and the widow H490 , that H834 RPRO are among H7130 you , in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS hath chosen H977 to place H7931 his name H8034 CMS-3MS there H8033 ADV .
12 And thou shalt remember H2142 that H3588 CONJ thou wast H1961 VQQ2MS a bondman H5650 NMS in Egypt H4714 : and thou shalt observe H8104 and do H6213 these H428 statutes H2706 .
13 Thou shalt observe H6213 VQY2MS the feast H2282 of tabernacles H5521 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP , after that thou hast gathered H622 in thy corn H1637 and thy wine H3342 :
14 And thou shalt rejoice H8055 in thy feast H2282 , thou H859 PPRO-2MS , and thy son H1121 , and thy daughter H1323 , and thy manservant H5650 , and thy maidservant H519 , and the Levite H3881 , the stranger H1616 , and the fatherless H3490 , and the widow H490 , that H834 RPRO are within thy gates H8179 .
15 Seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP shalt thou keep a solemn feast H2287 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS shall choose H977 : because H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall bless H1288 thee in all H3605 thine increase H8393 , and in all H3605 the works H4639 M-CMS of thine hands H3027 CFD-2MS , therefore thou shalt H1961 W-VQQ2MS surely H389 ADV rejoice H8056 .
16 Three H7969 MFS times H6471 NFP in a year H8141 shall all H3605 CMS thy males H2138 appear H7200 before H6440 CMP the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO he shall choose H977 ; in the feast H2282 of unleavened bread H4682 , and in the feast H2282 of weeks H7620 , and in the feast H2282 of tabernacles H5521 : and they shall not H3808 W-NPAR appear H7200 before H6440 CMP the LORD H3068 EDS empty H7387 :
17 Every man H376 NMS shall give as he is able H4979 , according to the blessing H1293 of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS which H834 RPRO he hath given H5414 thee .
18 Judges H8199 and officers H7860 shalt thou make H5414 thee in all H3605 B-CMS thy gates H8179 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS giveth H5414 VQPMS thee , throughout thy tribes H7626 : and they shall judge H8199 the people H5971 with just H6664 NMS judgment H4941 CMS .
19 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV wrest H5186 judgment H4941 NMS ; thou shalt not H3808 NADV respect H5234 persons H6440 NMP , neither H3808 W-NADV take H3947 a gift H7810 : for H3588 CONJ a gift H7810 doth blind H5786 the eyes H5869 CMD of the wise H2450 AMP , and pervert H5557 the words H1697 CMP of the righteous H6662 .
20 That which is altogether just H6664 NMS shalt thou follow H7291 VQY3FS , that H4616 L-CONJ thou mayest live H2421 , and inherit H3423 the land H776 D-GFS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS giveth H5414 VQPMS thee .
21 Thou shalt not H3808 ADV plant H5193 thee a grove H842 of any H3605 NMS trees H6086 NMS near H681 unto the altar H4196 of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS , which H834 RPRO thou shalt make H6213 VQY2MS thee .
22 Neither H3808 W-NPAR shalt thou set thee up H6965 any image H4676 ; which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 hateth H8130 .
