Leviticus 19:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The Lord said to Moses,
2 "Tell all the Israelites: I am the Lord your God. I am holy, so you must be holy.
3 "Each of you must honor your mother and father and keep my special days of rest. I am the Lord your God!
4 "Do not worship idols. Do not make statues of gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.
5 "When you offer a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to the Lord, you must offer it in the right way so that you will be accepted.
6 You may eat it the same day you offer it and on the next day. But if any of that sacrifice is left on the third day, you must burn it in the fire.
7 You must not eat any of that sacrifice on the third day. It will be unclean, and it will not be accepted.
8 You will be guilty of sin if you do that because you did not respect the holy things that belong to the Lord. If you do that you will be separated from your people.
9 "When you cut your crops at harvest time, don't cut all the way to the corners of your fields. And if grain falls on the ground, you must not gather up that grain.
10 Don't pick all the grapes in your vineyards or pick up the grapes that fall to the ground. You must leave those things for your poor people and for people traveling through your country. I am the Lord your God.
11 "You must not steal. You must not cheat people. You must not lie to each other.
12 You must not use my name to make false promises. If you do that, you will show that you don't respect the name of your God. I am the Lord!
13 "You must not cheat or rob your neighbor. You must not hold a hired worker's salary overnight until morning.
14 "You must not curse anyone who is deaf. You must not do anything to make a blind person fall. But you must respect your God. I am the Lord.
15 "You must be fair in judgment. You must not show special favor to the poor. And you must not show special favor to important people. You must be fair when you judge your neighbor.
16 You must not go around spreading false stories against other people. Don't do anything that would put your neighbor's life in danger. I am the Lord.
17 "You must not hate your people in your heart. If your neighbors do something wrong, you correct them, but don't hold a grudge against them!
18 Forget about the wrong things people do to you. Don't try to get even. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
19 "You must obey my laws. You must not let your animals mate with animals of a different kind. You must not sow your field with two kinds of seed. You must not wear clothing made from two kinds of material mixed together.
20 "It may happen that a man has sexual relations with a woman who is the slave of another man. But this slave woman has not been bought or given her freedom. If this happens, there must be punishment. But they will not be put to death because the woman was not free.
21 The man must bring his guilt offering to the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. He must bring a ram for a guilt offering.
22 The priest will make him pure. The priest will offer the ram as a guilt offering before the Lord. It will be for the sins the man did. Then the man will be forgiven for his sins.
23 "In the future, when you enter your country, you will plant many kinds of trees for food. After planting a tree, you must wait three years before you can use any of the fruit from that tree. You must not use that fruit.
24 In the fourth year, the fruit from that tree will be the Lord's. It will be a holy offering of praise to the Lord.
25 Then, in the fifth year, you can eat the fruit from that tree. And the tree will produce more and more fruit for you. I am the Lord your God.
26 "You must not eat any meat with blood still in it. "You must not try to use different kinds of magic to tell the future.
27 "You must not round off the hair that grows on the side of your face. You must not cut your beard that grows on the side of your face.
28 You must not cut your body as a way to remember the dead. You must not make any tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.
29 "Do not dishonor your daughters by making them become prostitutes. If you do that, your whole country will turn away from God and be filled with all kinds of sinful things.
30 "You must not work on my special days of rest. You must honor my holy place. I am the Lord.
31 "Do not go to mediums or wizards for advice—they will only make you unclean. I am the Lord your God.
32 "Show honor to old people. Stand up when they come into the room. And show respect to your leaders. I am the Lord.
33 "Do not do bad things to foreigners living in your country.
34 You must treat them the same as you treat your own citizens. Love them as you love yourselves. Remember, you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God!
35 "You must be fair when you judge people, and you must be fair when you measure and weigh things.
36 Your baskets should be the right size. Your jars should hold the right amount of liquids. Your weights and balances should weigh things correctly. I am the Lord your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt.
37 "You must remember all my laws and rules. And you must obey them. I am the Lord."

3 Ye shall fear H3372 every man H376 NMS his mother H517 GFS-3MS , and his father H1 , and keep H8104 my sabbaths H7676 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
4 Turn H6437 ye not H408 NPAR unto H413 PREP idols H457 , nor H3808 NADV make H6213 to yourselves molten H4541 gods H430 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
5 And if H3588 W-CONJ ye offer H2076 a sacrifice H2077 NMS of peace offerings H8002 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , ye shall offer H2076 it at your own will H7522 .
6 It shall be eaten H398 the same day H3117 B-NMS ye offer H2077 it , and on the morrow H4283 : and if aught remain H3498 until H5704 PREP the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 B-NMS , it shall be burnt H8313 in the fire H784 .
7 And if H518 W-PART it be eaten at all H398 on the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 B-AMS , it H1931 PPRO-3MS is abominable H6292 ; it shall not H3808 NADV be accepted H7521 .
8 Therefore every one that eateth H398 it shall bear H5375 VQY3MS his iniquity H5771 CMS-3MS , because H3588 CONJ he hath profaned H2490 the hallowed thing H6944 of the LORD H3068 EDS : and that H1931 D-PPRO-3FS soul H5315 D-NFS shall be cut off H3772 from among his people H5971 .
9 And when ye reap H7114 the harvest H7105 of your land H776 , thou shalt not H3808 NADV wholly reap H3615 the corners H6285 of thy field H7704 , neither H3808 NADV shalt thou gather H3950 the gleanings H3951 of thy harvest H7105 .
10 And thou shalt not H3808 NADV glean H5953 thy vineyard H3754 , neither H3808 NADV shalt thou gather H3950 every grape H6528 of thy vineyard H3754 ; thou shalt leave H5800 VQY2MS them for the poor H6041 and stranger H1616 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
11 Ye shall not H3808 NADV steal H1589 , neither H3808 W-NADV deal falsely H3584 , neither H3808 ADV lie H8266 one H376 NMS to another H5997 .
12 And ye shall not H3808 W-NPAR swear H7650 by my name H8034 falsely H8267 , neither shalt thou profane H2490 the name H8034 CMS of thy God H430 CMP-2MS : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
13 Thou shalt not H3808 ADV defraud H6231 VQY2MS thy neighbor H7453 NMS-2MS , neither H3808 W-NADV rob H1497 him : the wages H6468 of him that is hired H7916 AMS shall not H3808 ADV abide with thee all night H3885 until H5704 PREP the morning H1242 .
14 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV curse H7043 the deaf H2795 , nor H3808 NADV put H5414 a stumblingblock H4383 before H6440 WL-CMP the blind H5787 , but shalt fear thy God H3372 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
15 Ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV unrighteousness H5766 NMS in judgment H4941 B-NMS : thou shalt not H3808 NADV respect H5375 VQY2MS the person H6440 CMP of the poor H1800 JMS , nor H3808 W-NADV honor H1921 the person H6440 CMP of the mighty H1419 : but in righteousness H6664 shalt thou judge H8199 thy neighbor H5997 .
16 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV go up and down H1980 VQY2MS as a talebearer H7400 among thy people H5971 : neither H3808 NADV shalt thou stand H5975 against H5921 PREP the blood H1818 CMS of thy neighbor H7453 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
17 Thou shalt not H3808 ADV hate H8130 thy brother H251 CMS-2MS in thine heart H3824 : thou shalt in any wise rebuke H3198 VHFA thy neighbor H5997 , and not H3808 W-NADV suffer H5375 VQY2MS sin H2399 upon H5921 PREP-3MS him .
18 Thou shalt not H3808 ADV avenge H5358 , nor H3808 ADV bear any grudge H5201 against the children H1121 of thy people H5971 , but thou shalt love H157 thy neighbor H7453 as thyself H3644 PREP-2MS : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
19 Ye shall keep H8104 my statutes H2708 . Thou shalt not H3808 NADV let thy cattle H929 engender H7250 with a diverse kind H3610 : thou shalt not H3808 NADV sow H2232 thy field H7704 with mingled seed H3610 : neither H3808 NADV shall a garment H899 mingled H3610 of linen and woolen H8162 come H5927 VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP-2MS thee .
20 And whosoever H376 W-NMS lieth H7901 VQY3MS carnally H7902 with H854 PREP a woman H802 NFS , that H1931 is a bondmaid H8198 , betrothed H2778 to a husband H376 L-NMS , and not H3808 NADV at all redeemed H6299 , nor H176 CONJ freedom H2668 given H5414 her ; she shall be H1961 VQY3FS scourged H1244 ; they shall not H3808 NADV be put to death H4191 , because H3588 CONJ she was not free H2666 .
21 And he shall bring H935 his trespass offering H817 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , unto H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , even a ram H352 for a trespass offering H817 .
22 And the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP-3MS him with the ram H352 of the trespass offering H817 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS for H5921 PREP-3MS his sin H2403 CFS-3MS which H834 RPRO he hath done H2398 VQQ3MS : and the sin H2403 which H834 RPRO he hath done H2398 shall be forgiven H5545 him .
23 And when H3588 W-CONJ ye shall come H935 into H413 PREP the land H776 D-GFS , and shall have planted H5193 all manner H3605 NMS of trees H6086 NMS for food H3978 , then ye shall count H6188 the fruit H6529 NMS-3MS thereof as uncircumcised H6189 : three H7969 MFS years H8141 NFP shall it be H1961 VQY3MS as uncircumcised H6189 unto you : it shall not H3808 NADV be eaten H398 of .
24 But in the fourth H7243 year H8141 all H3605 NMS the fruit H6529 NMS-3MS thereof shall be H1961 VQY3MS holy H6944 to praise H1974 the LORD H3068 withal .
25 And in the fifth H2549 year H8141 shall ye eat H398 of the fruit H6529 NMS-3MS thereof , that it may yield H3254 unto you the increase H8393 thereof : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
26 Ye shall not H3808 NADV eat H398 any thing with H5921 PREP the blood H1818 : neither H3808 NADV shall ye use enchantment H5172 , nor H3808 W-NADV observe times H6049 .
27 Ye shall not H3808 NADV round H5362 the corners H6285 of your heads H7218 , neither H3808 W-NADV shalt thou mar H7843 the corners H6285 of thy beard H2206 .
28 Ye shall not H3808 NADV make H5414 any cuttings H8296 in your flesh H1320 for the dead H5315 , nor H3808 NADV print H5414 any marks H3793 upon you : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
29 Do not H408 NPAR prostitute H2490 thy daughter H1323 , to cause her to be a whore H2181 ; lest H3808 W-NPAR the land H776 D-GFS fall to whoredom H2181 , and the land H776 D-GFS become full H4390 of wickedness H2154 .
30 Ye shall keep H8104 my sabbaths H7676 , and reverence H3372 my sanctuary H4720 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
31 Regard H6437 not H408 NPAR them that have familiar spirits H178 , neither H408 NPAR seek H1245 after H413 PREP wizards H3049 , to be defiled H2930 by them : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
32 Thou shalt rise up H6965 before H6440 CMP the hoary head H7872 , and honor H1921 the face H6440 CMP of the old man H2205 PFS , and fear thy God H3372 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
33 And if H3588 a stranger H1616 NMS sojourn H1481 with H854 PART-2MS thee in your land H776 , ye shall not H3808 NADV vex H3238 him .
34 But the stranger H1616 that dwelleth H1481 with H854 PART-2MP you shall be H1961 VQY3MS unto you as one born among H249 you , and thou shalt love H157 him as thyself H3644 PREP-2MS ; for H3588 CONJ ye were H1961 VQQ2MP strangers H1616 in the land H776 B-GFS of Egypt H4714 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
35 Ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV unrighteousness H5766 NMS in judgment H4941 B-NMS , in meteyard H4060 , in weight H4948 , or in measure H4884 .
36 Just H6664 NMS balances H3976 , just H6664 NMS weights H68 CMP , a just H6664 NMS ephah H374 , and a just H6664 NMS hin H1969 , shall ye have H1961 VQY3MS : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , which H834 RPRO brought you out H3318 of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 .
37 Therefore shall ye observe H8104 all H3605 NMS my statutes H2708 , and all H3605 NMS my judgments H4941 , and do H6213 them : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
