Leviticus 26:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 "Don't make idols for yourselves. Don't set up statues or memorial stones in your land to bow down to, because I am the Lord your God!
2 "Remember my special days of rest and honor my holy place. I am the Lord.
3 "Remember my laws and commands, and obey them.
4 If you do these things, I will give you rains at the time they should come. The land will grow crops and the trees of the field will grow their fruit.
5 Your threshing will continue until it is time to gather grapes. And your grape gathering will continue until it is time to plant. Then you will have plenty to eat. And you will live safely in your land.
6 I will give peace to your country. You will lie down in peace. No one will come to make you afraid. I will keep harmful animals out of your country. And armies will not come through your country.
7 "You will chase your enemies and defeat them. You will kill them with your sword.
8 Five of you will chase 100 men, and 100 of you will chase 10,000 men. You will defeat your enemies and kill them with your sword.
9 "Then I will turn to you. I will let you have many children. I will keep my agreement with you.
10 You will have enough crops to last for more than a year. You will harvest the new crops. But then you will have to throw out the old crops to make room for the new crops.
11 Also, I will place my Holy Tent among you. I will not turn away from you.
12 I will walk with you and be your God. And you will be my people.
13 I am the Lord your God. You were slaves in Egypt, but I brought you out of Egypt. You were bent low from the heavy weights you carried as slaves, but I broke the poles that were on your shoulders. I let you walk proudly again.
14 "But if you don't obey me and all my commands, bad things will happen to you.
15 If you refuse to obey my laws and commands, you have broken my agreement.
16 If you do that, I will cause terrible things to happen to you. I will cause you to have disease and fever. They will destroy your eyes and take away your life. You will not have success when you plant your seed. And your enemies will eat your crops.
17 I will be against you, so your enemies will defeat you. These enemies will hate you and rule over you. You will run away even when no one is chasing you.
18 "After these things, if you still don't obey me, I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
19 And I will also destroy the great cities that make you proud. The skies will not give rain, and the earth will not produce crops.
20 You will work hard, but it will not help. Your land will not give any crops, and your trees will not grow their fruit.
21 "If you still turn against me and refuse to obey me, I will beat you seven times harder! The more you sin, the more you will be punished.
22 I will send wild animals against you. They will take your children away from you. They will destroy your animals. They will kill many of your people. The roads will all be empty.
23 "If you don't learn your lesson after all this, and if you still turn against me,
24 then I will also turn against you. Yes, I myself will punish you seven times for your sins.
25 You will have broken my agreement, so I will punish you. I will bring armies against you. You will go into your cities for safety, but I will cause diseases to spread among you. And your enemies will defeat you.
26 I will give you a share of the grain left in that city. But there will be very little food to eat. Ten women will be able to cook all their bread in one oven. They will measure each piece of bread. You will eat, but you will still be hungry.
27 "If you still refuse to listen to me, and if you still turn against me,
28 then I will really show my anger! Yes, I myself will punish you seven times for your sins.
29 {You will become so hungry that} you will eat the bodies of your sons and daughters.
30 I will destroy your high places. I will cut down your incense altars. I will put your dead bodies on the dead bodies of your idols. You will be very disgusting to me.
31 I will destroy your cities. I will make your holy places empty. I will stop smelling your offerings.
32 I will make your land empty. And your enemies who come to live there will be shocked at it.
33 I will scatter you among the nations. I will pull out my sword and destroy you. Your land will become empty, and your cities will be destroyed.
34 "You will be taken to your enemy's country. Your country will be empty. So your land will finally get its rest. The land will enjoy its time of rest.
35 During the time that the land is empty, it will get the time of rest that you did not give it while you lived there.
36 The survivors will lose their courage in the land of their enemies. They will be scared of everything. They will run around like a leaf being blown by the wind. They will run as if someone is chasing them with a sword. They will fall even when no one is chasing them.
37 They will run as if someone is chasing them with a sword. They will fall over each other—even when no one is chasing them. "You will not be strong enough to stand up against your enemies.
38 You will be lost in other nations. You will disappear in the land of your enemies.
39 So the survivors will rot away in their sin in their enemies' countries. They will rot away in their sins just as their ancestors did.
40 "But maybe the people will confess their sins. And maybe they will confess the sins of their ancestors. Maybe they will admit that they turned against me. Maybe they will admit that they sinned against me.
41 Maybe they will admit that I turned against them and brought them into the land of their enemies. These people will be like strangers to me. But maybe they will become humble and accept the punishment for their sin.
42 If they do, I will remember my agreement with Jacob. I will remember my agreement with Isaac. I will remember my agreement with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
43 "The land will be empty. The land will enjoy its time of rest. Then the survivors will accept the punishment for their sins. They will learn that they were punished because they hated my laws and refused to obey my rules.
44 They have sinned. {But if they come to me for help,} I will not turn away from them. I will listen to them, even if they are in the land of their enemies. I will not completely destroy them. I will not break my agreement with them, because I am the Lord their God.
45 For them, I will remember the agreement with their ancestors. I brought their ancestors out of the land of Egypt so that I could become their God. The other nations saw these things. I am the Lord."
46 These are the laws, rules, and teachings that the Lord gave to the Israelites. These laws are the agreement between the Lord and the Israelites. The Lord gave these laws to Moses at Mount Sinai.

2 Ye shall keep H8104 my sabbaths H7676 , and reverence H3372 my sanctuary H4720 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
3 If H518 PART ye walk H1980 in my statutes H2708 , and keep H8104 my commandments H4687 , and do H6213 them ;
4 Then I will give H5414 you rain H1653 in due season H6256 , and the land H776 D-GFS shall yield H5414 her increase H2981 , and the trees H6086 W-NMS of the field H7704 D-NMS shall yield H5414 VHFA their fruit H6529 .
5 And your threshing H1786 shall reach H5381 unto the vintage H1210 , and the vintage H1210 shall reach H5381 unto the sowing time H2233 : and ye shall eat H398 your bread H3899 to the full H7648 , and dwell H3427 in your land H776 safely H983 L-NMS .
6 And I will give H5414 peace H7965 NMS in the land H776 B-NFS , and ye shall lie down H7901 , and none H369 W-NPAR shall make you afraid H2729 VHPMS : and I will rid H7673 evil H7451 AFS beasts H2416 AFS out of H4480 PREP the land H776 D-GFS , neither H3808 NADV shall the sword H2719 go H5674 through your land H776 .
7 And ye shall chase H7291 your enemies H341 , and they shall fall H5307 before H6440 you by the sword H2719 .
8 And five H2568 of H4480 M-PPRO-2MS you shall chase H7291 a hundred H3967 MFS , and a hundred H3967 of H4480 M-PPRO-2MS you shall put ten thousand to flight H7291 : and your enemies H341 shall fall H5307 before H6440 you by the sword H2719 .
9 For I will have respect H6437 unto H413 you , and make you fruitful H6509 , and multiply H7235 you , and establish H6965 my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS with H854 you .
10 And ye shall eat H398 old store H3462 , and bring forth H3318 the old H3465 because H6440 M-CMP of the new H2319 .
11 And I will set H5414 my tabernacle H4908 among H8432 you : and my soul H5315 CFS-1MS shall not H3808 W-NPAR abhor H1602 you .
12 And I will walk H1980 among H8432 you , and will be H1961 your God H430 L-NMP , and ye H859 W-PPRO-2MP shall be H1961 my people H5971 .
13 I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , which H834 RPRO brought you forth out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , that ye should not be their bondmen H5650 NMP ; and I have broken H7665 W-VQY1MS the bands H4133 of your yoke H5923 , and made you go H1980 upright H6968 .
14 But if H518 W-PART ye will not H3808 NADV hearken H8085 unto me , and will not H3808 W-NADV do H6213 all H3605 NMS these H428 commandments H4687 ;
15 And if H518 W-PART ye shall despise H3988 my statutes H2708 , or if H518 W-PART your soul H5315 CFS-2MP abhor H1602 my judgments H4941 , so that ye will not H1115 L-NPAR do H6213 VQFC all H3605 NMS my commandments H4687 , but that ye break H6565 my covenant H1285 :
16 I H589 PPRO-1MS also H637 CONJ will do H6213 this H2063 DPRO-3FS unto you ; I will even appoint H6485 over H5921 PREP-2MP you terror H928 , consumption H7829 , and the burning ague H6920 , that shall consume H3615 the eyes H5869 NMD , and cause sorrow H1727 of heart H5315 : and ye shall sow H2232 your seed H2233 CMS-2MP in vain H7385 , for your enemies H341 shall eat H398 it .
17 And I will set H5414 my face H6440 L-CMP against you , and ye shall be slain H5062 before H6440 L-CMP your enemies H341 : they that hate H8130 you shall reign H7287 over you ; and ye shall flee H5127 when none H369 W-NPAR pursueth H7291 you .
18 And if H518 W-PART ye will not H3808 NADV yet for H5704 PREP all this H428 PMP hearken H8085 unto me , then I will punish H3256 you seven times H7651 MFS more H3254 for H5921 PREP your sins H2403 .
19 And I will break H7665 the pride H1347 CMS of your power H5797 ; and I will make H5414 your heaven H8064 as iron H1270 , and your earth H776 as brass H5154 :
20 And your strength H3581 shall be spent H8552 in vain H7385 : for your land H776 shall not H3808 ADV yield H5414 her increase H2981 , neither H3808 NADV shall the trees H6086 W-NMS of the land H776 D-GFS yield H5414 VHFA their fruits H6529 .
21 And if H518 W-PART ye walk H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 me , and will H14 not H3808 W-NPAR hearken H8085 unto me ; I will bring seven times more H3254 plagues H4347 upon H5921 PREP-2MP you according to your sins H2403 .
22 I will also send H7971 wild H7704 D-NMS beasts H2416 CFS among you , which shall rob you of your children H7921 , and destroy H3772 your cattle H929 , and make you few in number H4591 ; and your high ways H1870 shall be desolate H8074 .
23 And if H518 W-PART ye will not H3808 NADV be reformed H3256 by me by these things H428 , but will walk H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 me ;
24 Then will I H589 PPRO-1MS also H637 CONJ walk H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 PREP-3MP you , and will punish H5221 you yet H1571 CONJ seven times H7651 MFS for H5921 PREP your sins H2403 .
25 And I will bring H935 a sword H2719 GFS upon H5921 PREP-2MP you , that shall avenge H5358 the quarrel H5359 of my covenant H1285 NFS : and when ye are gathered together H622 within H413 PREP your cities H5892 , I will send H7971 the pestilence H1698 among H8432 you ; and ye shall be delivered H5414 into the hand H3027 B-CFS of the enemy H341 .
26 And when I have broken H7665 the staff H4294 of your bread H3899 NMS , ten H6235 MFS women H802 GFP shall bake H644 your bread H3899 in one H259 MMS oven H8574 , and they shall deliver you your bread again H7725 by weight H4948 : and ye shall eat H398 , and not H3808 W-NPAR be satisfied H7646 VQY2MP .
27 And if H518 W-PART ye will not H3808 NADV for all this H2063 hearken H8085 unto me , but walk H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 me ;
28 Then I will walk H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 PREP-3MP you also in fury H2534 ; and I , even H637 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS , will chastise H3256 you seven times H7651 MFS for H5921 PREP your sins H2403 .
29 And ye shall eat H398 the flesh H1320 CMS of your sons H1121 , and the flesh H1320 of your daughters H1323 shall ye eat H398 .
30 And I will destroy H8045 your high places H1116 , and cut down H3772 your images H2553 , and cast H5414 your carcasses H6297 upon H5921 PREP the carcasses H6297 of your idols H1544 , and my soul H5315 CFS-1MS shall abhor H1602 you .
31 And I will make H5414 your cities H5892 waste H2723 , and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation H8074 , and I will not H3808 W-NPAR smell H7306 the savor H7381 of your sweet odors H5207 .
32 And I H589 PPRO-1MS will bring the land into desolation H8074 : and your enemies H341 which dwell H3427 therein shall be astonished H8074 at H5921 PREP-3FS it .
33 And I will scatter H2219 you among the heathen H1471 , and will draw out H7324 a sword H2719 NFS after H310 you : and your land H776 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS desolate H8077 , and your cities H5892 waste H2723 .
34 Then H227 ADV shall the land H776 D-GFS enjoy H7521 her sabbaths H7676 , as long as NMS it lieth desolate H8074 , and ye H859 W-PPRO-2MP be in your enemies H341 \' land H776 B-GFS ; even then H227 ADV shall the land H776 D-GFS rest H7673 , and enjoy H7521 her sabbaths H7676 .
35 As long as NMS it lieth desolate H8074 it shall rest H7673 ; because H834 RPRO it did not H3808 ADV rest H7673 in your sabbaths H7676 , when ye dwelt H3427 upon H5921 it .
36 And upon them that are left H7604 W-VNPMP alive of you I will send H935 a faintness H4816 into their hearts H3824 B-CMS-3MP in the lands H776 of their enemies H341 ; and the sound H6963 CMS of a shaken H5086 VNPMS leaf H5929 shall chase H7291 them ; and they shall flee H5127 , as fleeing H4499 from a sword H2719 GFS ; and they shall fall H5307 when none H369 W-NPAR pursueth H7291 .
37 And they shall fall H3782 one H376 NMS upon another H251 , as it were before H6440 L-CMP a sword H2719 GFS , when none H369 pursueth H7291 : and ye shall have H1961 no H3808 W-NPAR power to stand H8617 before H6440 L-CMP your enemies H341 .
38 And ye shall perish H6 among the heathen H1471 , and the land H776 GFS of your enemies H341 shall eat you up H398 .
39 And they that are left H7604 W-VNPMP of you shall pine away H4743 in their iniquity H5771 in your enemies H341 \' lands H776 ; and also H637 W-CONJ in the iniquities H5771 of their fathers H1 shall they pine away H4743 with H854 PREP-3MP them .
40 If they shall confess H3034 their iniquity H5771 , and the iniquity H5771 of their fathers H1 , with their trespass H4604 which H834 RPRO they trespassed H4603 against me , and that H834 RPRO also H637 W-CONJ they have walked H1980 contrary H7147 unto H5973 me ;
41 And that I H589 PPRO-1MS also H637 CONJ have walked H1980 VQY1MS contrary H7147 unto H5973 PREP-3MP them , and have brought H935 them into the land H776 B-GFS of their enemies H341 ; if H176 CONJ then H227 ADV their uncircumcised H6189 hearts H3824 be humbled H3665 , and they then H227 accept H7521 of the punishment of their iniquity H5771 :
42 Then will I remember H2142 W-VQQ1MS my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS with Jacob H3290 , and also H637 W-CONJ my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS with Isaac H3327 , and also H637 W-CONJ my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS with Abraham H85 will I remember H2142 ; and I will remember H2142 the land H776 WD-GFS .
43 The land H776 WD-GFS also shall be left H5800 of H4480 them , and shall enjoy H7521 her sabbaths H7676 , while she lieth desolate H8074 without H4480 them : and they H1992 M-PPRO-3MS shall accept H7521 of the punishment of their iniquity H5771 : because H3282 ADV , even because H3282 they despised H3988 my judgments H4941 , and because their soul H5315 abhorred H1602 my statutes H2708 .
44 And yet H637 W-CONJ for all that CONJ , when they be H1961 in the land H776 B-GFS of their enemies H341 , I will not H3808 ADV cast them away H3988 , neither H3808 ADV will I abhor H1602 them , to destroy them utterly H3615 , and to break H6565 my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS with H854 PREP-3MP them : for H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 .
45 But I will for their sakes remember H2142 W-VQQ1MS the covenant H1285 NFS of their ancestors H7223 , whom H834 RPRO I brought forth H3318 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS in the sight H5869 of the heathen H1471 D-NMP , that I might be H1961 their God H430 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
46 These H428 PMP are the statutes H2706 and judgments H4941 and laws H8451 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS made H5414 VQQ3MS between H996 W-PREP him and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 in mount H2022 Sinai H5514 by the hand H3027 B-CFS of Moses H4872 .
