Mark 12:2 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Jesus used stories to teach the people. He said, "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around the field and dug a hole for a winepress. Then he built a tower. He leased the land to some farmers and left for a trip.
2 "Later, it was time for the grapes to be picked. So the man sent a servant to the farmers to get his share of the grapes.
3 But the farmers grabbed the servant and beat him. They sent him away with nothing.
4 Then the man sent another servant to the farmers. They hit this servant on the head, showing no respect for him.
5 So the man sent another servant. The farmers killed this servant. The man sent many other servants to the farmers. The farmers beat some of them and killed the others.
6 "The man had only one person left to send to the farmers. It was his son. He loved his son, but he decided to send him. He said, 'The farmers will respect my son.'
7 "But the farmers said to each other, 'This is the owner's son, and this vineyard will be his. If we kill him, it will be ours.'
8 So they took the son, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
9 "So what will the man who owns the vineyard do? He will go and kill those farmers. Then he will lease the land to others.
10 Surely you have read this in the Scriptures: 'The stone that the builders refused to accept became the cornerstone.
11 The Lord did this, and it is wonderful to us.'"
12 When the Jewish leaders heard this story, they knew it was about them. They wanted to find a way to arrest Jesus, but they were afraid of the crowd. So they left him and went away.
13 Later, the Jewish leaders sent some Pharisees and some men from the group called Herodians to Jesus. They wanted to catch him saying something wrong.
14 They went to Jesus and said, "Teacher, we know that you are an honest man. You are not afraid of what others think about you. All people are the same to you. And you teach the truth about God's way. Tell us, is it right to pay taxes to Caesar? Should we pay them or not?"
15 But Jesus knew that these men were really trying to trick him. He said, "Why are you trying to catch me saying something wrong? Bring me a silver coin. Let me see it."
16 They gave Jesus a coin and he asked, "Whose picture is on the coin? And whose name is written on it?" They answered, "It is Caesar's picture and Caesar's name."
17 Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God." The men were amazed at what Jesus said.
18 Then some Sadducees came to Jesus. (Sadducees believe that no one will rise from death.) They asked him a question:
19 "Teacher, Moses wrote that if a married man dies and had no children, his brother must marry the woman. Then they will have children for the dead brother.
20 There were seven brothers. The first brother married but died. He had no children.
21 So the second brother married the woman. But he also died and had no children. The same thing happened with the third brother.
22 All seven brothers married the woman and died. None of the brothers had any children with her. And she was the last to die.
23 But all seven brothers had married her. So at the time when people rise from death, whose wife will she be?"
24 Jesus answered, "How could you be so wrong? It's because you don't know what the Scriptures say. And you don't know anything about God's power.
25 When people rise from death, there will be no marriage. People will not be married to each other. All people will be like angels in heaven.
26 Surely you have read what God said about people rising from death. In the book where Moses wrote about the burning bush, it says that God told Moses this: 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. '
27 So they were not still dead, because he is the God only of living people. You Sadducees are so wrong!"
28 One of the teachers of the law came to Jesus. He heard Jesus arguing with the Sadducees and the Pharisees. He saw that Jesus gave good answers to their questions. So he asked him, "Which of the commands is the most important?"
29 Jesus answered, "The most important command is this: 'People of Israel, listen! The Lord our God is the only Lord.
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'
31 The second most important command is this: 'Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.' These two commands are the most important."
32 The man answered, "That was a good answer, Teacher. You are right in saying that God is the only Lord and that there is no other God.
33 And you must love God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength. And you must love others the same as you love yourself. These commands are more important than all the animals and sacrifices we offer to God."
34 Jesus saw that the man answered him wisely. So he said to him, "You are close to God's kingdom " And after that time, no one was brave enough to ask Jesus any more questions.
35 Jesus was teaching in the Temple area. He asked, "Why do the teachers of the law say that the Christ is the son of David?
36 With the help of the Holy Spirit, David himself says, 'The Lord God said to my Lord: Sit by me at my right side, and I will put your enemies under your control. '
37 David himself calls the Christ 'Lord.' So how can the Christ be David's son?" Many people listened to Jesus and were very pleased.
38 Jesus continued teaching. He said, "Be careful of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around wearing clothes that look important. And they love for people to show respect to them in the marketplaces.
39 They love to have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
40 But they cheat widows and take their homes. Then they try to make themselves look good by saying long prayers. God will punish them very much."
41 Jesus sat near the Temple collection box and watched as people put money into it. Many rich people put in a lot of money.
42 Then a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth less than a penny.
43 Jesus called his followers to him and said, "This poor widow put in only two small coins. But the truth is, she gave more than all those rich people.
44 They have plenty, and they gave only what they did not need. This woman is very poor, but she gave all she had. It was money she needed to live on."

2 And G2532 CONJ at the G3588 T-DSM season G2540 N-DSM he sent G649 V-AAI-3S to G4314 PREP the G3588 T-APM husbandmen G1092 N-APM a servant G1401 N-ASM , that G2443 CONJ he might receive G2983 V-2AAS-3S from G3844 PREP the G3588 T-GPM husbandmen G1092 N-GPM of G575 PREP the G3588 T-GSM fruit G2590 N-GSM of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM vineyard G290 N-GSM .
3 And G1161 CONJ they G3588 T-NPM caught G2983 V-2AAP-NPM him , and beat G1194 V-AAI-3P him G846 P-ASM , and G2532 CONJ sent him away G649 V-AAI-3P empty G2756 A-ASM .
4 And G2532 CONJ again G3825 ADV he sent G649 V-AAI-3S unto G4314 PREP them G846 P-APM another G243 A-ASM servant G1401 N-ASM ; and at him G2548 D-ASM-C they cast stones G3036 V-AAP-NPM , and wounded him in the head G2775 V-AAI-3P , and G2532 CONJ sent him away G649 V-AAI-3P shamefully handled G821 V-RPP-ASM .
5 And G2532 CONJ again G3825 ADV he sent G649 V-AAI-3S another G243 A-ASM ; and him G2548 D-ASM-C they killed G615 V-AAI-3P , and G2532 CONJ many G4183 A-APM others G243 A-APM ; beating G1194 V-PAP-NPM some G3588 T-APM , and G1161 CONJ killing G615 V-PAP-NPM some G3588 T-APM .
6 Having G2192 V-PAP-NSM yet G2089 ADV therefore G3767 CONJ one G1520 A-ASM son G5207 N-ASM , his G848 well G27 A-ASM - beloved , he sent G649 V-AAI-3S him G846 P-GSM also G2532 CONJ last G2078 A-ASM unto G4314 PREP them G846 P-ASM , saying G3004 V-PAP-NSM , They will reverence G1788 V-2FPI-3P my G3588 T-ASM son G5207 N-ASM .
7 But G1161 CONJ those G3588 T-NPM husbandmen G1092 N-NPM said G2036 V-2AAI-3P among G4314 PREP themselves G1438 F-3APM , This G3778 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-NSM heir G2818 N-NSM ; come G1205 V-XXM-2P , let us kill G615 V-PAS-1P him G846 P-ASM , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF inheritance G2817 N-NSF shall be G2071 V-FXI-3S ours G2257 P-1GP .
8 And G2532 CONJ they took G2983 V-2AAP-NPM him G846 P-ASM , and killed G615 V-AAI-3P him , and G2532 CONJ cast G1544 V-2AAI-3P him out G1854 ADV of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM vineyard G290 N-GSM .
9 What G5101 I-ASN shall therefore G3767 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM lord G2962 N-NSM of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM vineyard G290 N-GSM do G4160 V-FAI-3S ? he will come G2064 V-FDI-3S and G2532 CONJ destroy G622 V-FAI-3S the G3588 T-APM husbandmen G1092 N-APM , and G2532 CONJ will give G1325 V-FAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM vineyard G290 N-ASM unto others G243 A-DPM .
10 And have ye not G3761 ADV read G314 V-2AAI-2P this G3588 T-ASF Scripture G1124 N-ASF ; The stone G3037 N-ASM which G3739 R-ASM the G3588 T-NPM builders G3618 V-PAP-NPM rejected G593 V-AAI-3P is G3778 D-ASF become G1096 V-AOI-3S the G1519 PREP head G2776 N-ASF of the corner G1137 N-GSF :
11 This G3778 D-NSF was G1096 V-2ADI-3S the Lord\'s doing G3844 PREP , and G2532 CONJ it is G2076 V-PXI-3S marvelous G2298 A-NSF in G1722 PREP our G2254 eyes G3788 N-DPM ?
12 And G2532 CONJ they sought G2212 V-IAI-3P to lay hold on G2902 V-AAN him G846 P-ASM , but G2532 CONJ feared G5399 V-AOI-3P the G3588 T-ASM people G3793 N-ASM : for G1063 CONJ they knew G1097 V-2AAI-3P that G3754 CONJ he had spoken G2036 V-2AAI-3S the G3588 T-ASF parable G3850 N-ASF against G4314 PREP them G846 P-APM : and G2532 CONJ they left G863 V-2AAP-NPM him G846 P-ASM , and went their way G565 V-2AAI-3P .
13 And G2532 CONJ they send G649 V-PAI-3P unto G4314 PREP him G846 P-ASM certain G5100 X-APM of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM Pharisees G5330 N-GPM and G2532 CONJ of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM Herodians G2265 N-GPM , to G2443 CONJ catch G64 V-AAS-3P him G846 P-ASM in his words G3056 N-DSM .
14 And G1161 CONJ when they G3588 T-NPM were come G2064 V-2AAP-NPM , they say G3004 V-PAI-3P unto him G846 P-DSM , Master G1320 N-VSM , we know G1492 V-RAI-1P that G3754 CONJ thou art G1488 V-PXI-2S true G227 A-NSM , and CONJ carest G3199 V-PQI-3S for G4012 PREP no man G3762 A-GSM : for G1063 CONJ thou regardest G991 V-PAI-2S not G3756 PRT-N the G1519 PREP person G4383 N-ASN of men G444 N-GPM , but G235 CONJ teachest G1321 V-PAI-2S the G3588 T-ASF way G3598 N-ASF of God G2316 N-GSM in G1909 PREP truth G225 N-GSF : Is it lawful G1832 V-PQI-3S to give G1325 V-2AAN tribute G2778 N-ASM to Caesar G2541 N-DSM , or G2228 PRT not G3756 PRT-N ?
15 Shall we give G1325 V-2AAS-1P , or G2228 PRT shall we not G3361 PRT-N give G1325 V-2AAS-1P ? But G1161 CONJ he G3588 T-NSM , knowing G1492 V-RAP-NSM their G3588 T-ASF hypocrisy G5272 N-ASF , said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Why G5101 I-ASN tempt G3985 V-PAI-2P ye me G3165 P-1AS ? bring G5342 V-PAM-2P me G3427 P-1DS a penny G1220 N-ASN , that G2443 CONJ I may see G1492 V-2AAS-1S it .
16 And G1161 CONJ they G3588 T-NPM brought G5342 V-AAI-3P it . And G2532 CONJ he saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Whose G5101 I-GSM is this G3588 T-NSF image G1504 N-NSF and G2532 CONJ superscription G1923 N-NSF ? And G1161 CONJ they G3588 T-NSF said G2036 V-2AAI-3P unto him G846 P-DSM , Caesar G2541 N-GSM \'s .
17 And G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM answering G611 V-AOP-NSM said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Render G591 V-2AAM-2P to Caesar G2541 N-GSM the things G3588 T-NSM that are Caesar G2541 N-DSM \'s , and G2532 CONJ to God G2316 N-GSM the things G3588 T-APN that G3588 T-DSM are God G2316 N-DSM \'s . 21 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM second G1208 A-NSM took G2983 V-2AAI-3S her G846 P-ASF , and G2532 CONJ died G599 V-2AAI-3S , neither G3761 ADV left G863 V-AAI-3S he G846 P-NSM any seed G4690 N-ASN : and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM third G5154 A-NSM likewise G5615 ADV .
22 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM seven G2033 A-NUI had G2983 V-2AAI-3P her G846 P-ASF , and G2532 CONJ left G863 V-AAI-3P no G3756 PRT-N seed G4690 N-ASN : last G2078 A-NSF of all G3956 A-GPN the G3588 T-NSF woman G1135 N-NSF died G599 V-2AAI-3S also G2532 CONJ .
23 In G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF resurrection G386 N-DSF therefore G3767 , when G3752 CONJ they shall rise G450 V-2AAS-3P , whose G5101 I-GSM wife G1135 N-NSF shall she be G2071 V-FXI-3S of G3588 T-NPM them G3588 T-NPM ? for G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM seven G2033 A-NUI had G2192 V-2AAI-3P her G846 P-ASF to wife G1135 N-ASF .
24 And G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM answering G611 V-AOP-NSM said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Do ye not G3756 PRT-N therefore G1223 PREP err G4105 V-PPI-2P , because ye know G1492 V-RAP-NPM not G3361 PRT-N the G3588 T-APF Scriptures G1124 N-APF , neither G3366 CONJ the G3588 T-ASF power G1411 N-ASF of God G2316 N-GSM ?
25 For G1063 CONJ when G3752 CONJ they shall rise G450 V-2AAS-3P from G1537 PREP the dead G3498 A-GPM , they neither G3777 CONJ marry G1060 V-PAI-3P , nor G3777 CONJ are given in marriage G1061 V-PPI-3P ; but G235 CONJ are G1526 V-PXI-3P as G5613 ADV the angels G32 N-NPM which G3588 T-NPM are in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DPM .
26 And G1161 CONJ as touching G4012 PREP the G3588 T-GPM dead G3498 A-GPM , that G3754 CONJ they rise G1453 V-PPI-3P : have ye not G3756 PRT-N read G314 V-2AAI-2P in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF book G976 N-DSF of Moses G3475 N-GSM , how G5613 ADV in G1909 PREP the G3588 T-GSM bush G942 N-GSM God G2316 N-NSM spake G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto him G846 P-DSM , saying G3004 V-PAP-NSM , I G1473 P-1NS am the G3588 T-NSM God G2316 N-NSM of Abraham G11 N-PRI , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM God G2316 N-NSM of Isaac G2464 N-PRI , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM God G2316 N-NSM of Jacob G2384 N-PRI ?

28 And G2532 CONJ one G1520 A-NSM of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM scribes G1122 N-GPM came G4334 V-2AAP-NSM , and having heard G191 V-AAP-NSM them G846 P-GPM reasoning together G4802 V-PAP-GPM , and perceiving G1492 V-RAP-NSM that G3754 CONJ he had answered G611 V-ADI-3S them G846 P-DPM well G2573 ADV , asked G1905 V-AAI-3S him G846 P-ASM , Which G4169 I-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S the first G4413 A-NSF commandment G1785 N-NSF of all G3956 A-GPF ?
29 And G1161 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM answered G611 V-ADI-3S him G846 P-DSM , The first G4413 A-NSF of all G3956 A-GPF the G3588 T-GPF commandments G1785 N-GPF is , Hear G191 V-PAM-2S , O Israel G2474 N-PRI ; The Lord G2962 N-NSM our G3588 T-NSM God G2316 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S one G1520 A-NSM Lord G2962 N-NSM :
30 And G2532 CONJ thou shalt love G25 V-FAI-2S the Lord G2962 N-ASM thy G3588 T-ASM God G2316 N-ASM with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF thy G3588 T-GSF heart G2588 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF thy G3588 T-GSF soul G5590 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF thy G3588 T-GSF mind G1271 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF thy G3588 T-GSF strength G2479 N-GSF : this G3778 D-NSF is the first G4413 A-NSF commandment G1785 N-NSF .
31 And G2532 CONJ the second G1208 A-NSF is like G3664 A-NSF , namely this G3778 D-NSF , Thou shalt love G25 V-FAI-2S thy G3588 T-ASM neighbor G4139 ADV as G5613 ADV thyself G4572 F-2ASM . There is G2076 V-PXI-3S none G3756 PRT-N other G243 A-NSF commandment G1785 N-NSF greater G3187 A-NSF-C than these G5130 D-GPF .
32 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM scribe G1122 N-NSM said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto him G846 P-DSM , Well G2573 ADV , Master G1320 N-VSM , thou hast said G2036 V-2AAI-2S the G1909 PREP truth G225 N-GSF : for G3754 CONJ there is G2076 V-PXI-3S one G1520 A-NSM God G2316 ; and G2532 CONJ there is G2076 V-PXI-3S none G3756 PRT-N other G243 A-NSM but G4133 ADV he G846 P-GSM :
33 And G2532 CONJ to love G25 V-PAN him G846 P-ASM with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF the G3588 T-GSF heart G2588 N-GSF and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF the G3588 T-GSF understanding G4907 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF the G3588 T-GSF soul G5590 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ with G1537 PREP all G3650 A-GSF the G3588 T-GSF strength G2479 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ to love G25 V-PAN his neighbor G4139 ADV as G5613 ADV himself G1438 F-3ASM , is G2076 V-PXI-3S more G4119 A-NSN-C than all G3956 A-GPN whole burnt offerings G3646 N-GPN and G2532 CONJ sacrifices G2378 N-GPF .
34 And G2532 CONJ when Jesus G2424 N-NSM saw G1492 V-2AAP-NSM that G3754 CONJ he answered G611 V-ADI-3S discreetly G3562 ADV he said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto him G846 P-ASM , Thou art G1488 V-PXI-2S not G3756 PRT-N far G3112 ADV from G575 PREP the G3588 T-GSF kingdom G932 N-GSF of God G2316 N-GSM . And G2532 CONJ no man G3762 A-NSM after that G3765 ADV durst G5111 V-IAI-3S ask G1905 V-AAN him G846 P-DSM any question .
35 And G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM answered G611 V-AOP-NSM and said G3004 V-IAI-3S , while he taught G1321 V-PAP-NSM in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSN temple G2411 N-DSN , How G4459 ADV-I say G3004 V-PAI-3P the G3588 T-NPM scribes G1122 N-NPM that G3588 T-NSM Christ G5547 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S the son G5207 N-NSM of David G1138 N-PRI ?
36 For G1063 CONJ David G1138 N-PRI himself G846 P-NSM said G2036 by G1722 PREP the G3588 T-NSM Holy G40 A-DSN Ghost G4151 N-DSN , the G3588 T-NSM LORD G2962 N-NSM said G2036 to my G3588 T-DSM LORD G2962 N-DSM , Sit G2521 V-PNM-2S thou on G1537 PREP my G3450 P-1GS right hand G1188 A-GPM , till G2193 CONJ I make G5087 V-2AAS-1S thine G3588 T-APM enemies G2190 A-APM thy footstool G5286 N-ASN .
37 David G1138 N-PRI therefore G3767 CONJ himself G846 P-NSM calleth G3004 V-PAI-3S him G846 P-ASM Lord G2962 N-ASM ; and G2532 CONJ whence G4159 ADV-I is G2076 V-PXI-3S he then his G846 P-GSM son G5207 N-NSM ? And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM common G4183 A-NSM people G3793 N-NSM heard G191 V-IAI-3S him G846 P-GSM gladly G2234 ADV .
38 And G2532 CONJ he said G3004 V-IAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM in G1722 PREP his G3588 T-DSF doctrine G1322 N-DSF , Beware G991 V-PAM-2P of G575 PREP the G3588 T-GPM scribes G1122 N-GPM , which love G2309 V-PAP-GPM to go G4043 V-PAN in G1722 PREP long clothing G4749 N-DPF , and G2532 CONJ love salutations G783 N-APM in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DPF marketplaces G58 N-DPF ,
