Job 2:7 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Then another day came for the angels to meet with the Lord. Satan was also there with them.
2 The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you been?" Satan answered the Lord, "I have been roaming around the earth, going from place to place."
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him. He is a good, faithful man. He respects God and refuses to do evil. He is still faithful, even though you asked me to let you destroy, without reason, everything he has."
4 Satan answered, "Skin for skin! A man will give everything he has to protect himself.
5 I swear, if you attack his flesh and bones, he will curse you to your face!"
6 So the Lord said to Satan, "All right, Job is in your hands, but you are not allowed to kill him."
7 So Satan left the meeting with the Lord and gave Job painful sores all over his body, from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head.
8 Job sat on the pile of ashes where he was mourning and used a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores.
9 His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your faith? Why don't you just curse God and die!"
10 Job answered, "You sound like one of those fools on the street corner! How can we accept all the good things that God gives us and not accept the problems?" So even after all that happened to Job, he did not sin. He did not accuse God of doing anything wrong.
11 Job's three friends heard about all the bad things that happened to him, so Eliphaz came from Teman, Bildad from Shuah, and Zophar from Naamah. They met together and went to comfort Job and show him their sympathy.
12 But his friends didn't even recognize him when they first saw him in the distance! They began to cry loudly. They tore their clothes and threw dirt in the air over their heads to show how sad they were.
13 Then they sat on the ground with Job for seven days and seven nights. They didn't say a word, because they saw he was in so much pain.
1 Again there was H1961 W-VQY3MS a day H3117 D-AMS when the sons H1121 of God H430 D-NAME-4MP came H935 W-VQY3MP to present themselves H3320 L-VTFC before H5921 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , and Satan H7854 D-NMS came H935 W-VQY3MS also H1571 CONJ among H8432 B-CMS-3MP them to present himself H3320 L-VTFC before H5921 PREP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
2 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Satan H7854 D-NMS , From whence H335 IPRO comest H935 VQY2MS thou ? And Satan H7854 D-NMS answered H6030 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS , From going to and fro H7751 M-VQFC in the earth H776 B-NFS , and from walking up and down H1980 WM-VTFC in it .
3 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Satan H7854 D-NMS , Hast thou considered H7760 I-VQQ2MS my servant H5650 CMS-1MS Job H347 EMS , that H3588 CONJ there is none H369 NPAR like him H3644 PART-3MS in the earth H776 B-NFS , a perfect H8535 AMS and an upright H3477 W-AMS man H376 NMS , one that feareth H3373 AMS God H430 EDP , and escheweth H5493 W-VQPMS evil H7451 M-AMS ? and still H5750 W-ADV-3MS he holdeth fast H2388 VHPMS his integrity H8538 B-CFS-3MS , although thou movedst H5496 W-VHY2MS-1MS me against him , to destroy H1104 L-VPFC-3MS him without cause H2600 ADV .
4 And Satan H7854 D-NMS answered H6030 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS , Skin for skin H5785 NMS , yea , all H3605 W-CMS that H834 RPRO a man H376 LD-NMS hath will he give H5414 VHFA for H1157 PREP his life H5315 CFS-3MS .
5 But H199 CONJ put forth H7971 VQI2MS thine hand H3027 CFS-2MS now H4994 IJEC , and touch H5060 W-VQI2MS his bone H6106 CFS-3MS and his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS , and H518 PART he will curse H1288 VPY3MS-2MS thee to H413 PREP thy face H6440 CMP-2MS .
6 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Satan H7854 D-NMS , Behold H2009 , he is in thine hand H3027 B-CFS-2MS ; but H389 ADV save H8104 VQI2MS his life H5315 NMS-3MS .
7 So went Satan forth W-VQY3MS from the presence H6440 CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS , and smote H5221 W-VHY3MS Job H347 EMS with sore H7451 AMS boils H7822 B-NMS from the sole H3709 M-CFS of his foot H7272 CFS-3MS unto H5704 PREP his crown H6936 CMS-3MS .
8 And he took H3947 W-VQY3MS him a potsherd H2789 NMS to scrape himself H1623 L-VTFC withal ; and he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS sat down H3427 VQPMS among H8432 B-NMS the ashes H665 D-NMS .
9 Then said H559 W-VQY3FS his wife H802 CFS-3MS unto him , Dost thou still H5750 ADV-2MS retain H2388 VHPMS thine integrity H8538 B-CFS-2MS ? curse H1288 VPI2MS God H430 EDP , and die H4191 W-VQI2MS .
10 But he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3FS her , Thou speakest H1696 K-VPFC as one H259 OFS of the foolish women H5036 D-AFP speaketh H1696 VPY2FS . What H1571 CONJ ? shall we receive H6901 VPY1MP good H2896 D-NMS at the hand H854 of God H430 D-EDP , and shall we not H3808 NADV receive H6901 VPY1MP evil H7451 D-AMS ? In all H3605 B-CMS this H2063 DPRO did not H3808 NADV Job H347 EMS sin H2398 VQQ3MS with his lips H8193 B-CFD-3MS .
11 Now when Job H347 EMS \'s three H7969 BMS friends H7453 CMP heard H8085 W-VQY3MP of all H3605 NMS this H2063 D-DFS evil H7451 D-AFS that was come H935 D-AFS upon H5921 PREP-3MS him , they came H935 W-VQY3MP every one H376 NMS from his own place H4725 M-CMS-3MP ; Eliphaz H464 EMS the Temanite H8489 D-LMS , and Bildad H1085 W-EMS the Shuhite H7747 D-LMS , and Zophar H6691 W-EMS the Naamathite H5284 D-LMS : for they had made an appointment H3259 W-VNY3MP together H3162 ADV-3MS to come H935 L-VQFC to mourn H5110 L-VQFC with him and to comfort H5162 WL-VPFC him .
12 And when they lifted up H5375 W-VQY3MP their eyes H5869 CMD-3MP afar off H7350 M-AMS , and knew H5234 VHQ3MP-3MS him not H3808 W-NPAR , they lifted up H5375 W-VQY3MP their voice H6963 CMS-3MP , and wept H1058 W-VQY3MP ; and they rent H7167 W-VQY3MP every one H376 NMS his mantle H4598 CMS-3MS , and sprinkled H2236 W-VQY3MP dust H6083 NMS upon H5921 PREP their heads H7218 CMP-3MP toward heaven H8064 D-NMP-3FS .
13 So they sat down H3427 W-VQY3MP with H854 PREP-3MS him upon the ground H776 LD-NFS seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP and seven H7651 W-BMS nights H3915 NMP , and none H369 W-NPAR spoke H1696 VQPMS a word H1697 VQPMS unto H413 PREP-3MS him : for H3588 CONJ they saw H7200 VQQ3MP that H3588 CONJ his grief H3511 D-NMS was very great H1431 VQQ3MS .
