Job 40:16 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Then the Lord said to Job,
2 "You wanted to argue with God All-Powerful. You wanted to correct me and prove that I was wrong. So give me your answer!"
3 Then Job answered the Lord:
4 "I am not worthy to speak! What can I say to you? I cannot answer you! I will put my hand over my mouth.
5 I spoke once, but I will not speak again. I spoke twice, but I will not say anything more."
6 Then the Lord spoke to Job again from the storm:
7 "Brace yourself and get ready to answer the questions I will ask you.
8 "Are you trying to show that I am unfair? Are you trying to look innocent by saying that I am guilty?
9 Are your arms as strong as mine? Do you have a voice like mine that is as loud as thunder?
10 If so, you can be proud and wear glory and honor like clothes.
11 If you are as powerful as God, then show your anger! Punish those who are proud and humble them.
12 Yes, just look at the proud and make them humble. Crush those evil people where they stand.
13 Bury them all in the dirt. Wrap their bodies up and put them in their graves.
14 If you can do any of these things, then even I will praise you. And I will admit that you can save yourself by your own power.
15 "Look at the behemoth. I made the behemoth, and I made you. He eats grass like a cow.
16 But he has great strength in his body. The muscles in his stomach are powerful.
17 His tail stands strong like a cedar tree. His leg muscles are very strong.
18 His bones are as strong as bronze. His legs are like iron bars.
19 The behemoth is the most amazing animal I made, but I can defeat him.
20 He eats the grass that grows on the hills where the wild animals play.
21 He lies under the lotus plants. He hides among the reeds of the swamp.
22 The lotus plants hide him in their shade. He lives under the willow trees that grow near the river.
23 If the river floods, the behemoth will not run away. He is not afraid if the Jordan River splashes on his face.
24 No one can blind his eyes and capture him. No one can catch him in a trap.

2 Shall he that contendeth H7378 VQFA with H5973 PREP the Almighty H7706 EDS instruct H3250 NMS him ? he that reproveth H3198 VHPMS God H433 NAME-4MS , let him answer H6030 VQY3MS-3FS it .
3 Then Job H347 EMS answered H6030 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS ,
4 Behold H2005 IJEC , I am vile H7043 VQQ1MS ; what H4100 IGAT shall I answer H7725 VHY1MS-2MS thee ? I will lay H7760 VQQ1MS mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS upon H3926 PREP my mouth H6310 CMS-1MS .
5 Once H259 OFS have I spoken H1696 VPQ1MS ; but I will not H3808 W-NPAR answer H6030 VQY1MS : yea , twice H8147 W-OFD ; but I will proceed no further H3254 VHY1MS .
6 Then answered H6030 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS unto Job H347 PART out of H4480 PREP the whirlwind H5591 NFS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS ,
7 Gird up H247 VQI2MS thy loins H2504 CMD-2MS now H4994 IJEC like a man H1397 K-NMS : I will demand H7592 VQY1MS-2MS of thee , and declare H3045 W-VHI2MS-1MS thou unto me .
8 Wilt thou also H637 CONJ disannul H6565 VHY2MS my judgment H4941 CMS-1MS ? wilt thou condemn H7561 VHY2MS-1MS me , that H4616 L-CONJ thou mayest be righteous H6663 VQY2MS ?
9 Hast thou an arm H2220 NFS like God H410 KD-NMS ? or canst thou thunder H7481 VHI2MS with a voice H6963 WB-NMS like him H3644 PART-3MS ?
10 Deck H5710 VQI2MS thyself now H4994 IJEC with majesty H1347 NMS and excellency H1363 W-NMS ; and array H3847 VQY2MS thyself with glory H1935 W-NMS and beauty H1926 W-NMS .
11 Cast abroad H6327 VHYMS the rage H5678 CFP of thy wrath H639 CMS-2MS : and behold H7200 W-VQI2MS every one H3605 CMS that is proud H1343 AMS , and abase H8213 W-VHI2MS-3MS him .
12 Look on H7200 VQI2MS every one H3605 CMS that is proud H1343 AMS , and bring him low H3665 VHI2MS-3MS ; and tread down H1915 W-VQI2MS the wicked H7563 AMP in their place H8478 PREP-3MP .
13 Hide H2934 VQI2MS-3MP them in the dust H6083 BD-NMS together H3162 ADV ; and bind H2280 VQI2MS their faces H6440 CMP-3MP in secret H2934 BD-VWPMS .
14 Then will I H589 PPRO-1MS also H1571 W-CONJ confess H3034 VHY1MS-2MS unto thee that H3588 CONJ thine own right hand H3225 CFS-2MS can save H3467 VHY3FS thee .
15 Behold H2009 IJEC now H4994 IJEC behemoth H930 NMS , which H834 RPRO I made H6213 VQQ1MS with H5973 PREP-2FS thee ; he eateth H398 VQY3MS grass H2682 NMS as an ox H1241 KD-NMS .
16 Lo H2009 IJEC now H4994 IJEC , his strength H3581 CMS-3MS is in his loins H4975 B-CMD-3MS , and his force H202 W-CMS-3MS is in the navel H8306 B-CMP of his belly H990 CFS-3MS .
17 He moveth H2654 VQY3MS his tail H2180 CMS-3MS like H3644 PREP a cedar H730 NMS : the sinews H1517 CMP of his stones H6344 CMS-3MS are wrapped together H8276 VUY3MP .

19 He H1931 PPRO-3MS is the chief H7225 CFS of the ways H1870 CMD-1MS of God H410 EDS : he that made H6213 D-VQCMS-3MS him can make his sword H2719 CFS-3MS to approach H5066 VHI3MS unto him .
20 Surely H3588 CONJ the mountains H2022 NMP bring him forth H5375 VQY3MP food H944 CMS , where H8033 ADV all H3605 W-CMS the beasts H2416 CFS of the field H7704 D-NMS play H7832 VPY3MP .
21 He lieth H7901 VQY3MS under H8478 PREP the shady trees H6628 NMP , in the covert H5643 B-CMS of the reed H7070 NMS , and fens H1207 W-NFS .
22 The shady trees H6628 NMP cover H5526 VQY3MP-3MS him with their shadow H6752 CMS-3MS ; the willows H6155 CFP of the brook H5158 NMS compass him about H5437 VQY3MP-3MS .
23 Behold H2005 IJEC , he drinketh up H6231 VQY3MS a river H5104 NMS , and hasteth H2648 VQY3MS not H3808 NADV : he trusteth H982 VQY3MS that H3588 CONJ he can draw up H1518 VQY3MS Jordan H3383 LFS into H413 PREP his mouth H6310 CMS-3MS .
24 He taketh H3947 VQY3MS-3MS it with his eyes H5869 B-CMD-3MS : his nose H639 NMS pierceth H5344 VQY3MS through snares H4170 B-NMP .
