John 7:28 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 After this, Jesus traveled around the country of Galilee. He did not want to travel in Judea, because the Jewish leaders there wanted to kill him.
2 It was time for the Jewish Festival of Shelters.
3 So his brothers said to him, "You should leave here and go to the festival in Judea. Then your followers there can see the miracles you do.
4 If you want to be well-known, you must not hide what you do. So show yourself to the world. Let them see these things you do."
5 Jesus' brothers said this because even they did not believe in him.
6 Jesus said to them, "The right time for me has not yet come, but any time is right for you to go.
7 The world cannot hate you. But the world hates me, because I tell the people in the world that they do evil things.
8 So you go to the festival. I will not go now, because the right time for me has not yet come."
9 After Jesus said this, he stayed in Galilee.
10 So his brothers left to go to the festival. After they left, Jesus went too, but he did not let people see him.
11 At the festival the Jewish leaders were looking for him. They said, "Where is that man?"
12 There was a large group of people there. Many of them were talking secretly to each other about Jesus. Some people said, "He is a good man." But others said, "No, he fools the people."
13 But no one was brave enough to talk about him openly. They were afraid of the Jewish leaders.
14 When the festival was about half finished, Jesus went to the Temple area and began to teach.
15 The Jewish leaders were amazed and said, "How did this man learn so much? He never had the kind of teaching we had!"
16 Jesus answered, "What I teach is not my own. My teaching comes from the one who sent me.
17 People who really want to do what God wants will know that my teaching comes from God. They will know that this teaching is not my own.
18 If I taught my own ideas, I would just be trying to get honor for myself. But if I am trying to bring honor to the one who sent me, I can be trusted. Anyone doing that is not going to lie.
19 Moses gave you the law, right? But you don't obey that law. If you do, then why are you trying to kill me?"
20 The people answered, "A demon is making you crazy! We are not trying to kill you."
21 Jesus said to them, "I did one miracle on a Sabbath day, and you were all surprised.
22 But you obey the law Moses gave you about circumcision —and sometimes you do it on a Sabbath day. (Really, Moses is not the one who gave you circumcision. It came from our ancestors who lived before Moses.) Yes, you often circumcise baby boys on a Sabbath day.
23 This shows that someone can be circumcised on a Sabbath day to obey the Law of Moses. So why are you angry with me for healing a person's whole body on the Sabbath day?
24 Stop judging by the way things look. Be fair and judge by what is really right."
25 Then some of the people who lived in Jerusalem said, "This is the man they are trying to kill.
26 But he is teaching where everyone can see and hear him. And no one is trying to stop him from teaching. Maybe the leaders have decided that he really is the Christ.
27 But when the real Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from. And we know where this man's home is."
28 Jesus was still teaching in the Temple area when he said loudly, "Do you really know me and where I am from? I am here, but not by my own decision. I was sent by one who is very real. But you don't know him.
29 I know him because I am from him. He is the one who sent me."
30 When Jesus said this, the people tried to grab him. But no one was able even to touch him, because the right time for him had not yet come.
31 But many of the people believed in Jesus. They said, "We are waiting for the Christ to come. When he comes, will he do more miraculous signs than this man has done?"
32 The Pharisees heard what the people were saying about Jesus. So the leading priests and the Pharisees sent some Temple police to arrest him.
33 Then Jesus said, "I will be with you a little while longer. Then I will go back to the one who sent me.
34 You will look for me, but you will not find me. And you cannot come where I am."
35 These Jews said to each other, "Where will this man go that we cannot find him? Will he go to the Greek cities where our people live? Will he teach the Greek people there?
36 He says, 'You will look for me, but you will not find me.' He also says, 'You cannot come where I am.' What does this mean?"
37 The last day of the festival came. It was the most important day. On that day Jesus stood up and said loudly, "Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink.
38 If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart. That is what the Scriptures say."
39 Jesus was talking about the Spirit. The Spirit had not yet been given to people, because Jesus had not yet been raised to glory. But later, those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit.
40 When the people heard the things Jesus said, some of them said, "This man really is the Prophet. "
41 Other people said, "He is the Christ. " And others said, "The Christ will not come from Galilee.
42 The Scriptures say that he will come from the family of David. And they say that he will come from Bethlehem, the town where David lived."
43 So the people did not agree with each other about Jesus.
44 Some of the people wanted to arrest him. But no one tried to do it.
45 The Temple police went back to the leading priests and the Pharisees. The priests and the Pharisees asked, "Why didn't you bring Jesus?"
46 The Temple police answered, "We have never heard anyone say such amazing things!"
47 The Pharisees answered, "So he has fooled you too!
48 You don't see any of the leaders or any of us Pharisees believing in him, do you?
49 But those people out there know nothing about the law. They are under God's curse!"
50 But Nicodemus was there in that group. He was the one who had gone to see Jesus before. He said,
51 "Our law will not let us judge anyone without first hearing them and finding out what they have done."
52 The Jewish leaders answered, "You must be from Galilee too! Study the Scriptures. You will find nothing about a prophet coming from Galilee."
53 Then they all left and went home.

3 His G3588 T-NPM brethren G80 N-NPM therefore G3767 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3P unto G4314 PREP him G846 P-GSM , Depart G3327 V-2AAM-2S hence G1782 ADV , and G2532 CONJ go G5217 V-PAM-2S into G1519 PREP Judea G2449 N-ASF , that G2443 CONJ thy G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM also G2532 CONJ may see G2334 V-AAS-3P the G3588 T-APN works G2041 N-APN that G3739 R-APN thou doest G4160 V-PAI-2S .
4 For G1063 CONJ there is no man G3762 A-NSM that doeth G4160 V-PAI-3S any thing G5100 X-ASN in G1722 PREP secret G2927 A-DSN , and G2532 CONJ he G846 P-NSM himself seeketh G2212 V-PAI-3S to be G1511 V-PXN known openly G1722 PREP . 5 For G1063 CONJ neither G3761 ADV did his G3588 T-NPM brethren G80 N-NPM believe G4100 V-IAI-3P in G1519 PREP him G846 P-ASM .
6 Then G3767 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM said G3004 V-PAI-3S unto them G3588 T-NSM , My G3588 T-NSM time G2540 N-NSM is not yet G3768 ADV come G3918 V-PXI-3S : but G1161 CONJ your G5212 S-2NPM time G2540 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S always G3842 ADV ready G2092 A-NSM .
7 The G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM cannot G1410 V-PNI-3S hate G3404 V-PAN you G5209 P-2AP ; but G1161 CONJ me G1691 P-1AS it hateth G3404 V-PAI-3S , because G3754 CONJ I G1473 P-1NS testify G3140 V-PAI-1S of G4012 PREP it G846 P-GSM , that G3754 CONJ the G3588 T-NPN works G2041 N-NPN thereof G846 P-GSM are G2076 V-PXI-3S evil G4190 A-NPN .

9 When G1161 CONJ he had said G2036 V-2AAP-NSM these words G5023 D-APN unto them G846 P-DPM , he abode G3306 V-AAI-3S still in G1722 PREP Galilee G1056 N-DSF .
10 But G1161 CONJ when G5613 ADV his G3588 T-NPM brethren G80 N-NPM were gone up G305 V-2AAI-3P , then G5119 ADV went he also up G305 V-2AAI-3S unto G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF feast G1859 N-ASF , not G3756 PRT-N openly G5320 ADV , but G235 CONJ as it were G5613 ADV in G1722 PREP secret G2927 A-DSN .
11 Then G3767 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM sought G2212 V-IAI-3P him G846 P-ASM at G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF feast G1859 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ said G3004 V-IAI-3P , Where G4226 PRT-I is G2076 V-PXI-3S he G1565 D-NSM ?
12 And G2532 CONJ there was G2258 V-IXI-3S much G4183 A-NSM murmuring G1112 N-NSM among G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DPM people G3793 N-DPM concerning G4012 PREP him G846 P-GSM : for G1063 some G3588 T-NPM said G3004 V-IAI-3P , He is G2076 V-PXI-3S a good man G18 A-NSM : others G243 A-NPM said G3004 V-IAI-3P , Nay G3756 PRT-N ; but G235 CONJ he deceiveth G4105 V-PAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM people G3793 N-ASM .

14 Now G1161 CONJ about G2235 ADV the midst G3322 V-PAP-GSF of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF feast G1859 N-GSF Jesus G2424 N-NSM went up G305 V-2AAI-3S into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASN temple G2411 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ taught G1321 V-IAI-3S .
15 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM marveled G2296 V-IAI-3P , saying G3004 V-PAP-NPM , How G4459 ADV-I knoweth G1492 V-RAI-3S this man G3778 D-NSM letters G1121 N-APN , having never G3361 PRT-N learned G3129 V-RAP-NSM ?
16 Jesus G2424 N-NSM answered G611 V-ADI-3S them G846 P-DPM , and G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S , My G1699 S-1NSF doctrine G1322 N-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S not G3756 PRT-N mine G1699 S-1NSF , but G235 CONJ his that sent G3992 V-AAP-GSM me G3165 P-1AS .
17 If G1437 COND any man G5100 X-NSM will G2309 V-PAS-3S do G4160 V-PAN his G3588 T-ASN will G2307 N-ASN , he shall know G1097 V-FDI-3S of G4012 PREP the G3588 T-GSF doctrine G1322 N-GSF , whether G4220 ADV-I it be G2076 V-PXI-3S of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM , or G2228 PRT whether I G1473 P-1NS speak G2980 V-PAI-1S of G575 PREP myself G1683 F-1GSM .
18 He G3588 T-NSM that G3588 T-NSM speaketh G2980 V-PAP-NSM of G575 PREP himself G1438 F-3GSM seeketh G2212 V-PAI-3S his G3588 T-ASF own G2398 A-ASF glory G1391 N-ASF : but G1161 CONJ he G3588 T-ASF that G3588 T-ASF seeketh G2212 V-PAP-NSM his G3588 T-GSM glory G1391 N-ASF that sent G3992 V-AAP-GSM him G846 P-ASM , the same G3778 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S true G227 A-NSM , and G2532 CONJ no G3756 PRT-N unrighteousness G93 N-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S in G1722 PREP him G846 P-DSM .
19 Did not G3756 PRT-N Moses G3475 N-NSM give G1325 V-RAI-3S you G5213 P-2DP the G3588 T-ASM law G3551 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ yet none G3762 A-NSM of G1537 PREP you G5216 P-2GP keepeth G4160 V-PAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM law G3551 N-ASM ? Why G5101 I-ASN go ye about G2212 V-PAI-2P to kill G615 V-AAN me G3165 P-1AS ?
20 The G3588 T-NSM people G3793 N-NSM answered G611 V-ADI-3S and G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S , Thou hast G2192 V-PAI-2S a devil G1140 N-ASN : who G5101 I-NSM goeth about G2212 V-PAI-3S to kill G615 V-AAN thee G4571 P-2AS ?
21 Jesus G2424 N-NSM answered G611 V-ADI-3S and G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , I have done G4160 V-AAI-1S one G1520 A-ASN work G2041 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ ye all G3956 A-NPM marvel G2296 V-PAI-2P .

26 But G2532 CONJ , lo G2396 , he speaketh G2980 V-PAI-3S boldly G3954 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ they say G3004 V-PAI-3P nothing G3762 A-ASN unto him G846 P-DSM . 30 Then G3767 CONJ they sought G2212 V-IAI-3P to take G4084 V-AAN him G846 P-ASM : but G2532 CONJ no man G3762 A-NSM laid G1911 V-2AAI-3S hands G5495 N-ASF on G1909 PREP him G846 P-ASM , because G3754 CONJ his G3588 T-NSF hour G5610 N-NSF was not yet G3768 ADV come G2064 V-LAI-3S .
31 And G1161 CONJ many G4183 A-NPM of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM people G3793 N-GSM believed G4100 V-AAI-3P on G1519 PREP him G846 P-ASM , and G2532 CONJ said G3004 V-IAI-3P , When G3752 CONJ Christ G5547 N-NSM cometh G2064 V-2AAS-3S , will he G3385 PRT-I do G4160 V-FAI-3S more G4119 A-APN-C miracles G4592 N-APN than these G5130 D-GPN which G3739 R-GPN this G3778 D-NSM man hath done G4160 V-AAI-3S ?
32 The G3588 T-NPM Pharisees G5330 N-NPM heard G191 V-AAI-3P that G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM people G3793 N-GSM murmured G1111 V-PAP-GSM such things G5023 D-APN concerning G4012 PREP him G846 P-GSM ; and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM Pharisees G5330 N-NPM and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM chief priests G749 N-NPM sent G649 V-AAI-3P officers G5257 N-APM to G2443 CONJ take G4084 V-AAS-3P him G846 P-ASM .
33 Then G3767 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S Jesus G2424 N-NSM unto them G846 , Yet G2089 ADV a little G3398 A-ASM while G5550 N-ASM am G1510 V-PXI-1S I with G3326 PREP you G5216 P-2GP , and G2532 CONJ then I go G5217 V-PAI-1S unto G4314 PREP him that sent G3992 V-AAP-ASM me G3165 P-1AS .
34 Ye shall seek G2212 V-FAI-2P me G3165 P-1AS , and G2532 CONJ shall not G3756 PRT-N find G2147 V-FAI-2P me : and G2532 CONJ where G3699 ADV I G1473 P-1NS am G1510 V-PXI-1S , thither ye G5210 P-2NP cannot G1410 V-PNI-2P come G2064 V-2AAN .
35 Then G3767 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3P the G3588 T-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM among G4314 PREP themselves G1438 F-3APM , Whither G4226 PRT-I will G3195 V-PAI-3S he G3778 D-NSM go G4198 V-PNN , that G3754 CONJ we G2249 P-1NP shall not G3756 PRT-N find G2147 V-FAI-1P him G846 P-ASM ? will G3195 V-PAI-3S he G3361 PRT-N go G4198 V-PNN unto G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF dispersed G1290 N-ASF among the G3588 T-GPM Gentiles G1672 N-GPM , and G2532 CONJ teach G1321 V-PAN the G3588 T-APM Gentiles G1672 N-APM ?
36 What G5101 I-NSM manner of saying G3056 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S this G3778 D-NSM that G3739 R-ASM he said G2036 V-2AAI-3S , Ye shall seek G2212 V-FAI-2P me G3165 P-1AS , and G2532 CONJ shall not G3756 PRT-N find G2147 V-FAI-2P me : and G2532 CONJ where G3699 ADV I G1473 P-1NS am G1510 V-PXI-1S , thither ye G5210 P-2NP cannot G1410 V-PNI-2P come G2064 V-2AAN ?
37 In G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF last G2078 A-DSF day G2250 N-DSF , that great G3173 A-DSF day of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF feast G1859 N-GSF , Jesus G2424 N-NSM stood G2476 V-LAI-3S and G2532 CONJ cried G2896 V-AAI-3S , saying G3004 V-PAP-NSM , If G1437 COND any man G5100 X-NSM thirst G1372 V-PAS-3S , let him come G2064 V-PNM-3S unto G4314 PREP me G3165 P-1AS , and G2532 CONJ drink G4095 V-PAM-3S .

40 Many G4183 A-NPM of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM people G3793 N-GSM therefore G3767 CONJ , when they G3588 T-ASM heard G191 V-AAP-NPM this saying G3056 N-ASM , said G3004 V-IAI-3P , Of a truth G230 ADV this G3778 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-NSM Prophet G4396 N-NSM .
41 Others G243 A-NPM said G3004 V-IAI-3P , This G3778 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-NSM Christ G5547 N-NSM . But G1161 some G243 A-NPM said G3004 V-IAI-3P , Shall CONJ Christ G5547 N-NSM come G2064 V-PNI-3S out of G3588 T-GSF Galilee G1056 N-GSF ?
42 Hath not G3780 PRT-I the G3588 T-NSF Scripture G1124 N-NSF said G2036 V-2AAI-3S , That G3588 T-NSM Christ G5547 N-NSM cometh G2064 V-PNI-3S of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSN seed G4690 N-GSN of David G1138 N-PRI , and G2532 CONJ out of G575 PREP the G3588 T-GSF town G2968 N-GSF of Bethlehem G965 N-PRI , where G3699 ADV David G1138 N-PRI was G2258 V-IXI-3S ?
43 So G3767 CONJ there was G1096 V-2ADI-3S a division G4978 N-NSN among G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM people G3793 N-DSM because G1223 PREP of him G846 P-ASM .
44 And G1161 CONJ some G5100 X-NPM of G1537 PREP them G846 P-GPM would G2309 V-IAI-3P have taken G4084 V-AAN him G846 P-ASM ; but G235 CONJ no man G3762 A-NSM laid G1911 V-2AAI-3S hands G5495 N-APF on G1909 PREP him G846 P-ASM .
