Zephaniah 2:11 (ESV) English Standard Version

1 Gather together, yes, gather, O shameless nation,
2 before the decree takes effect- before the day passes away like chaff- before there comes upon you the burning anger of the LORD, before there comes upon you the day of the anger of the LORD.
3 Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the LORD.
4 For Gaza shall be deserted, and Ashkelon shall become a desolation; Ashdod's people shall be driven out at noon, and Ekron shall be uprooted.
5 Woe to you inhabitants of the seacoast, you nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines; and I will destroy you until no inhabitant is left.
6 And you, O seacoast, shall be pastures, with meadows for shepherds and folds for flocks.
7 The seacoast shall become the possession of the remnant of the house of Judah, on which they shall graze, and in the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening. For the LORD their God will be mindful of them and restore their fortunes.
8 "I have heard the taunts of Moab and the revilings of the Ammonites, how they have taunted my people and made boasts against their territory.
9 Therefore, as I live," declares the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Moab shall become like Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a land possessed by nettles and salt pits, and a waste forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the survivors of my nation shall possess them."
10 This shall be their lot in return for their pride, because they taunted and boasted against the people of the LORD of hosts.
11 The LORD will be awesome against them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth, and to him shall bow down, each in its place, all the lands of the nations.
12 You also, O Cushites, shall be slain by my sword.
13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north and destroy Assyria, and he will make Nineveh a desolation, a dry waste like the desert.
14 Herds shall lie down in her midst, all kinds of beasts; even the owl and the hedgehog shall lodge in her capitals; a voice shall hoot in the window; devastation will be on the threshold; for her cedar work will be laid bare.
15 This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart, "I am, and there is no one else." What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

4 For H3588 CONJ Gaza H5804 LFS shall be H1961 forsaken H5800 , and Ashkelon H831 a desolation H8077 : they shall drive out H1644 Ashdod H795 at the noon day H6672 , and Ekron H6138 shall be rooted up H6131 .
5 Woe H1945 unto the inhabitants H3427 of the sea H3220 D-NMS coast H2256 , the nation H1471 NMS of the Cherethites H3774 ! the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS is against H5921 PREP-2MP you ; O Canaan H3667 LMS , the land H776 GFS of the Philistines H6430 TMS , I will even destroy H6 thee , that there shall be no H369 inhabitant H3427 .
6 And the sea H3220 D-NMS coast H2256 shall be H1961 dwellings H5116 and cottages H3741 for shepherds H7462 , and folds H1448 for flocks H6629 .
7 And the coast H2256 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS for the remnant H7611 of the house H1004 CMS of Judah H3063 ; they shall feed H7462 thereupon H5921 PREP-3MP : in the houses H1004 of Ashkelon H831 shall they lie down H7257 in the evening H6153 : for H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 shall visit H6485 them , and turn away H7725 W-VQQ3MS their captivity H7622 .

9 Therefore H3651 L-ADV as I H589 PPRO-1MS live H2416 AMS , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS of hosts H6635 , the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 , Surely H3588 CONJ Moab H4124 shall be H1961 VQY2MS as Sodom H5467 , and the children H1121 W-CMP of Ammon H5983 as Gomorrah H6017 , even the breeding H4476 of nettles H2738 NMS , and saltpits H4417 NMS , and a perpetual H5769 NMS desolation H8077 : the residue H7611 of my people H5971 shall spoil H962 them , and the remnant H3499 of my people H1471 shall possess H5157 them .
10 This H2063 DPRO shall they have for H8478 NMS their pride H1347 , because H3588 CONJ they have reproached H2778 and magnified H1431 themselves against H5921 PREP the people H5971 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS of hosts H6635 .
11 The LORD H3068 EDS will be terrible H3372 VNCMS unto H5921 PREP-3MP them : for H3588 CONJ he will famish H7329 all H3605 NMS the gods H430 CDP of the earth H776 D-GFS ; and men shall worship H7812 him , every one H376 NMS from his place H4725 M-CMS-3MS , even all H3605 NMS the isles H339 CMP of the heathen H1471 .
12 Ye H859 PPRO-2MS Ethiopians H3569 also H1571 CONJ , ye H1992 shall be slain H2491 by my sword H2719 .
13 And he will stretch out H5186 his hand H3027 CFS-3MS against H5921 PREP the north H6828 NFS , and destroy H6 Assyria H804 GFS ; and will make H7760 W-VQI3MS Nineveh H5210 LFS a desolation H8077 , and dry H6723 NFS like a wilderness H4057 .
14 And flocks H5739 shall lie down H7257 in the midst H8432 of her , all H3605 NMS the beasts H2416 of the nations H1471 : both H1571 CONJ the cormorant H6893 and H1571 CONJ the bittern H7090 shall lodge H3885 VQY3MP in the upper lintels H3730 of it ; their voice H6963 CMS shall sing H7891 in the windows H2474 ; desolation H2721 shall be in the thresholds H5592 : for H3588 CONJ he shall uncover H6168 the cedar work H731 .
