1 பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அதை எபெனேசரிலிருந்து அஸ்தோத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
2 பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, தாகோனின் கோவிலிலே கொண்டுவந்து, தாகோனண்டையிலே வைத்தார்கள்.
3 அஸ்தோத் ஊரார் மறுநாள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்துகிடந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தாகோனை எடுத்து, அதை அதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே திரும்பவும் நிறுத்தினார்கள்.
4 அவர்கள் மறுநாள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து கிடந்ததுமல்லாமல், தாகோனின் தலையும் அதின் இரண்டு கைகளும் வாசற்படியின்மேல் உடைபட்டுக் கிடந்தது; தாகோனுக்கு உடல்மாத்திரம் மீதியாயிருந்தது.
5 ஆதலால் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் தாகோனின் பூஜாசாரிகளும் தாகோனின் கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிற யாவரும் அஸ்தோத்திலிருக்கிற தாகோனுடைய வாசற்படியை மிதிக்கிறதில்லை.
6 அஸ்தோத் ஊராரைப் பாழாக்கும்படிக்கு கர்த்தருடைய கை அவர்கள்மேல் பாரமாயிருந்தது; அவர் அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்களையும், அதின் எல்லைகளுக்குள் இருக்கிறவர்களையும் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதித்தார்.
7 இப்படி நடந்ததை அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்கள் கண்டபோது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய கை நமதுமேலும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய தாகோனின்மேலும் கடினமாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவருடைய பெட்டி நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கலாகாது என்று சொல்லி;
8 பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்து, தங்களண்டையிலே கூடிவரச் செய்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நாம் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர்கள்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை காத் பட்டணமட்டும் எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.
9 அதை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனபின்பு, கர்த்தருடைய கை அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின்மேல் மகா உக்கிரமாக இறங்கிற்று; அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மனுஷருக்குள், சிறியவர் துவக்கிப் பெரியவர்மட்டும், மூலவியாதியை உண்டாக்கி, அவர்களை வாதித்தார்.
10 அதினால் அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எக்ரோனுக்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டி எக்ரோனுக்கு வருகிறபோது, எக்ரோன் ஊரார்: எங்களையும் எங்கள் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றுபோட, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்து, எங்களண்டைக்குச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள் என்று கூக்குரலிட்டார்கள்.
11 அவர்கள் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் கூடிவரும்படி அழைத்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவன் எங்களையும் எங்கள் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றுபோடாதபடிக்கு, அவருடைய பெட்டியை அதின் ஸ்தானத்திற்குத் திரும்ப அனுப்பிவிடுங்கள் என்றார்கள்; அந்தப் பட்டணமெங்கும் சாவு மும்முரமாயிருந்தது; தேவனுடைய கை அங்கே மகா பாரமாயிருந்தது.
12 செத்துப்போகாதிருந்தவர்கள் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதிக்கப்பட்டதினால், அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் கூக்குரல் வானபரியந்தம் எழும்பிற்று.
1 And the Philistines H6430 took H3947 the ark H727 of God H430 D-EDP , and brought H935 it from Ebenezer H72 unto Ashdod H795 .
2 When the Philistines H6430 took H3947 W-VQY3MP the ark H727 of God H430 D-EDP , they brought H935 it into the house H1004 CMS of Dagon H1712 , and set H3322 it by H681 Dagon H1712 .
3 And when they of Ashdod H795 arose early H7925 on the morrow H4283 , behold H2009 IJEC , Dagon H1712 was fallen H5307 VQPMS upon his face H6440 L-CMP to the earth H776 NFS-3FS before H6440 L-CMP the ark H727 of the LORD H3068 EDS . 4 And when they arose early H7925 on the morrow H4283 morning H1242 , behold H2009 IJEC , Dagon H1712 was fallen H5307 VQPMS upon his face H6440 L-CMP to the ground H776 NFS-3FS before H6440 L-CMP the ark H727 of the LORD H3068 EDS ; and the head H7218 of Dagon H1712 and both H8147 the palms H3709 of his hands H3027 CFD-3MS were cut off H3772 upon H413 PREP the threshold H4670 ; only H7535 ADV the stump of Dagon H1712 was left H7604 VNQ3MS to H5921 him .
5 Therefore H5921 PREP neither H3808 ADV the priests H3548 of Dagon H1712 , nor any H3605 that come H935 into Dagon H1712 \'s house H1004 CMS , tread H1869 on H5921 PREP the threshold H4670 of Dagon H1712 in Ashdod H795 unto H5704 PREP this H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS .
6 But the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS was heavy H3513 upon H413 PREP them of Ashdod H795 , and he destroyed H8074 them , and smote H5221 W-VHY3MS them with emerods H6076 , even Ashdod H795 and the coasts H1366 thereof .
7 And when the men H376 of Ashdod H795 saw H7200 W-VQY3MP that H3588 CONJ it was so H3651 ADV , they said H559 W-VQQ3MP , The ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 shall not H3808 ADV abide H3427 with H5973 PREP-1MP us : for H3588 CONJ his hand H3027 CFS-3MS is sore H7185 upon H5921 PREP-1MP us , and upon H5921 W-PREP Dagon H1712 our god H430 .
8 They sent H7971 therefore and gathered H622 all H3605 NMS the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430 unto H413 PREP-3MP them , and said H559 , What H4100 IGAT shall we do H6213 VQY1MP with the ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 ? And they answered H559 W-VQY3MP , Let the ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 be carried about H5437 unto Gath H1661 . And they carried H5437 the ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 LMS about thither .
9 And it was H1961 W-VQY3MS so , that , after H310 PREP they had carried it about H5437 , the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS was H1961 W-VQY3FS against the city H5892 BD-NFS with a very H3966 ADV great H1419 AFS destruction H4103 : and he smote H5221 W-VHY3MS the men H376 CMP of the city H5892 D-GFS , both small H6996 and great H1419 AMS , and they had emerods H6076 in their secret parts H8368 .
10 Therefore they sent H7971 the ark H727 of God H430 D-EDP to Ekron H6138 . And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , as the ark H727 of God H430 D-EDP came H935 K-VQFC to Ekron H6138 , that the Ekronites H6139 cried out H2199 , saying H559 L-VQFC , They have brought about H5437 the ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 to H413 PREP-1MS us , to slay H4191 us and our people H5971 .
11 So they sent H7971 and gathered together H622 all H3605 NMS the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430 , and said H559 , Send away H7971 the ark H727 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 , and let it go again H7725 to his own place H4725 , that it slay H4191 VHY3MS us not H3808 W-NPAR , and our people H5971 : for H3588 CONJ there was H1961 VQQ3FS a deadly H4194 NMS destruction H4103 throughout all H3605 NMS the city H5892 D-GFS ; the hand H3027 CFS of God H430 D-EDP was very H3966 ADV heavy H3513 VQQ3FS there H8033 ADV .
12 And the men H376 that H834 RPRO died H4191 not H3808 NADV were smitten H5221 with the emerods H6076 : and the cry H7775 of the city H5892 D-GFS went up H5927 W-VHY2MS to heaven H8064 D-AMD .
