2. பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, தாகோனின் கோவிலிலே கொண்டுவந்து, தாகோனண்டையிலே வைத்தார்கள்.

3. அஸ்தோத் ஊரார் மறுநாள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்துகிடந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தாகோனை எடுத்து, அதை அதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே திரும்பவும் நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

5. ஆதலால் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் தாகோனின் பூஜாசாரிகளும் தாகோனின் கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிற யாவரும் அஸ்தோத்திலிருக்கிற தாகோனுடைய வாசற்படியை மிதிக்கிறதில்லை.

6. அஸ்தோத் ஊராரைப் பாழாக்கும்படிக்கு கர்த்தருடைய கை அவர்கள்மேல் பாரமாயிருந்தது; அவர் அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்களையும், அதின் எல்லைகளுக்குள் இருக்கிறவர்களையும் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதித்தார்.

6. But the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 was heavy H3513 upon H413 them of Ashdod H795 , and he destroyed H8074 them , and smote H5221 them with emerods H6076 , even H853 Ashdod H795 and the coasts H1366 thereof.

7. இப்படி நடந்ததை அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்கள் கண்டபோது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய கை நமதுமேலும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய தாகோனின்மேலும் கடினமாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவருடைய பெட்டி நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கலாகாது என்று சொல்லி;

7. And when the men H376 of Ashdod H795 saw H7200 that H3588 it was so H3651 , they said H559 , The ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 shall not H3808 abide H3427 with H5973 us: for H3588 his hand H3027 is sore H7185 upon H5921 us , and upon H5921 Dagon H1712 our god H430 .

8. பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்து, தங்களண்டையிலே கூடிவரச் செய்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நாம் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர்கள்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை காத் பட்டணமட்டும் எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.

And they carried H5437 H853 the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 about thither .

9. அதை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனபின்பு, கர்த்தருடைய கை அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின்மேல் மகா உக்கிரமாக இறங்கிற்று; அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மனுஷருக்குள், சிறியவர் துவக்கிப் பெரியவர்மட்டும், மூலவியாதியை உண்டாக்கி, அவர்களை வாதித்தார்.

And it was H1961 so , that, after H310 they had carried it about H5437 H853 , the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 was H1961 against the city H5892 with a very H3966 great H1419 destruction H4103 : and he smote H5221 H853 the men H376 of the city H5892 , both small H4480 H6996 and great H1419 , and they had emerods H6076 in their secret parts H8368 .

And it came to pass H1961 , as the ark H727 of God H430 came H935 to Ekron H6138 , that the Ekronites H6139 cried out H2199 , saying H559 , They have brought about H5437 H853 the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 to H413 us , to slay H4191 us and our people H5971 .

So they sent H7971 and gathered together H622 H853 all H3605 the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430 , and said H559 , Send away H7971 H853 the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 , and let it go again H7725 to his own place H4725 , that it slay H4191 us not H3808 , and our people H5971 : for H3588 there was H1961 a deadly H4194 destruction H4103 throughout all H3605 the city H5892 ; the hand H3027 of God H430 was very H3966 heavy H3513 there H8033 .
