Isaiah 32 (ESV) English Standard Version

1 Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice.
2 Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land.
3 Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed, and the ears of those who hear will give attention.
4 The heart of the hasty will understand and know, and the tongue of the stammerers will hasten to speak distinctly.
5 The fool will no more be called noble, nor the scoundrel said to be honorable.
6 For the fool speaks folly, and his heart is busy with iniquity, to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the LORD, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink.
7 As for the scoundrel- his devices are evil; he plans wicked schemes to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right.
8 But he who is noble plans noble things, and on noble things he stands.
9 Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech.
10 In little more than a year you will shudder, you complacent women; for the grape harvest fails, the fruit harvest will not come.
11 Tremble, you women who are at ease, shudder, you complacent ones; strip, and make yourselves bare, and tie sackcloth around your waist.
12 Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine,
13 for the soil of my people growing up in thorns and briers, yes, for all the joyous houses in the exultant city.
14 For the palace is forsaken, the populous city deserted; the hill and the watchtower will become dens forever, a joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;
15 until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.
16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field.
17 And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
18 My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
19 And it will hail when the forest falls down, and the city will be utterly laid low.
20 Happy are you who sow beside all waters, who let the feet of the ox and the donkey range free.

3 And the eyes H5869 CMD of them that see H7200 shall not H3808 W-NPAR be dim H8159 , and the ears H241 of them that hear H8085 shall hearken H7181 .
4 The heart H3824 also of the rash H4116 shall understand H995 VQY3MS knowledge H3045 , and the tongue H3956 of the stammerers H5926 shall be ready H4116 to speak H1696 plainly H6703 .
5 The vile person H5036 shall be no H3808 ADV more H5750 ADV called H7121 VNY3MS liberal H5081 AMS , nor H3808 NADV the churl H3596 said H559 to be bountiful H7771 .
6 For H3588 CONJ the vile person H5036 AMS will speak H1696 VPY3MS villainy H5039 NFS , and his heart H3820 will work H6213 VQY3MS iniquity H205 NMS , to practice H6213 L-VQFC hypocrisy H2612 , and to utter H1696 error H8442 against H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , to make empty H7324 the soul H5315 GFS of the hungry H7457 AMS , and he will cause the drink H4945 of the thirsty H6771 to fail H2637 .
7 The instruments H3627 also of the churl H3596 are evil H7451 AMP : he H1931 PPRO-3MS deviseth H3289 wicked devices H2154 to destroy H2254 the poor H6041 with lying H8267 NMS words H561 , even when the needy H34 speaketh H1696 right H4941 NMS .
8 But the liberal H5081 deviseth H3289 liberal things H5081 ; and by H5921 PREP liberal things H5081 shall he stand H6965 VQY3MS .
9 Rise up H6965 , ye women H802 GFP that are at ease H7600 ; hear H8085 my voice H6963 NMS-1MS , ye careless H982 daughters H1323 ; give ear H238 VHI2FP unto my speech H565 .
10 Many days H3117 NMP and years H8141 NFS shall ye be troubled H7264 , ye careless women H982 : for H3588 CONJ the vintage H1210 shall fail H3615 VQQ3MS , the gathering H625 shall not H1097 ADV come H935 VQY3MS .
11 Tremble H2729 , ye women that are at ease H7600 ; be troubled H7264 , ye careless ones H982 : strip H6584 you , and make you bare H6209 , and gird H2290 sackcloth upon H5921 PREP your loins H2504 .
12 They shall lament H5594 for H5921 PREP the teats H7699 , for H5921 PREP the pleasant H2531 fields H7704 , for H5921 PREP the fruitful H6509 vine H1612 .
13 Upon H5921 PREP the land H127 of my people H5971 shall come up H5927 thorns H6975 and briers H8068 ; yea H3588 CONJ , upon H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS the houses H1004 of joy H4885 in the joyous H5947 city H7151 NFS :
14 Because H3588 CONJ the palaces H759 shall be forsaken H5203 ; the multitude H1995 of the city H5892 GFS shall be left H5800 ; the forts H6076 and towers H975 shall be H1961 VQQ3MS for H1157 dens H4631 forever H5704 PREP , a joy H4885 CMS of wild asses H6501 NMP , a pasture H4829 of flocks H5739 ;
15 Until H5704 PREP the spirit H7307 NFS be poured H6168 upon H5921 PREP-1MP us from on high H4791 , and the wilderness H4057 NMS be H1961 W-VQQ3MS a fruitful field H3759 , and the fruitful field H3759 be counted H2803 for a forest H3293 .
16 Then judgment H4941 NMS shall dwell H7931 in the wilderness H4057 , and righteousness H6666 remain H3427 in the fruitful field H3759 .
17 And the work H4639 M-CMS of righteousness H6666 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS peace H7965 NMS ; and the effect H5656 of righteousness H6666 quietness H8252 and assurance H983 forever H5704 PREP .
18 And my people H5971 shall dwell H3427 in a peaceable H7965 NMS habitation H5116 , and in sure H4009 dwellings H4908 , and in quiet H7600 resting places H4496 ;
19 When it shall hail H1258 , coming down H3381 on the forest H3293 ; and the city H5892 D-GFS shall be low H8213 in a low place H8218 .
20 Blessed H835 are ye that sow H2232 beside H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS waters H4325 NMD , that send forth H7971 thither the feet H7272 of the ox H7794 and the ass H2543 .
