2. "Number the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi. Number them by their families, by the fathers' houses,
|
2. Take H5375 H853 the sum H7218 of the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 from among H4480 H8432 the sons H1121 of Levi H3878 , after their families H4940 , by the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ,
|
|
3. from thirty years old and older, even to fifty years old. Number all who are able to do the work in the meeting tent.
|
3. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even until H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 , all H3605 that enter H935 into the host H6635 , to do H6213 the work H4399 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 .
|
|
4. This is the work of the sons of Kohath in the meeting tent to do with the most holy things.
|
4. This H2063 shall be the service H5656 of the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 , about the most holy things H6944 H6944 :
|
|
5. When the people leave to move on, Aaron and his sons will go in and take down the curtain in front of the special box with the Law inside. And they will cover the special box with it.
|
5. And when the camp H4264 setteth forward H5265 , Aaron H175 shall come H935 , and his sons H1121 , and they shall take down H3381 the covering H4539 H853 veil H6532 , and cover H3680 H853 the ark H727 of testimony H5715 with it:

|
6. Then they will lay a covering of badgers' skins on it, and spread a pure blue cloth over that. And they will put in the long pieces of wood to carry it.
|
6. And shall put H5414 thereon H5921 the covering H3681 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and shall spread H6566 over H4480 H4605 it a cloth H899 wholly H3632 of blue H8504 , and shall put H7760 in the staves H905 thereof.

|
7. They will spread a blue cloth over the table of the bread before the Lord. They will put on it the plates, the dishes for special perfume, the pots, and the jars for the drink gift. And the bread will be on it always.
|
7. And upon H5921 the table H7979 of shewbread H6440 they shall spread H6566 a cloth H899 of blue H8504 , and put H5414 thereon H5921 H853 the dishes H7086 , and the spoons H3709 , and the bowls H4518 , and covers H7184 to cover H5262 withal : and the continual H8548 bread H3899 shall be H1961 thereon H5921 :

8. They will spread a red cloth over them, and cover that with badgers' skins. And they will put in its long pieces of wood to carry it.
|
8. And they shall spread H6566 upon H5921 them a cloth H899 of scarlet H8438 H8144 , and cover H3680 the same with a covering H4372 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and shall put in H7760 H853 the staves H905 thereof.

9. They will take a blue cloth and cover the lamp-stand for the light, with its lamps, its objects to put out the light, its dishes and all its pots of oil used for the light.
|
9. And they shall take H3947 a cloth H899 of blue H8504 , and cover H3680 H853 the candlestick H4501 of the light H3974 , and his lamps H5216 , and his tongs H4457 , and his censers H4289 , and all H3605 the oil H8081 vessels H3627 thereof, wherewith H834 they minister H8334 unto it:

10. They will put the lamp-stand and all its objects in a covering of badgers' skins. Then they will put it on the long pieces of wood used to carry it.
|
10. And they shall put H5414 it and all H3605 the vessels H3627 thereof within H413 a covering H4372 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and shall put H5414 it upon H5921 a bar H4132 .
|
|
11. They will spread a blue cloth over the altar of gold, and cover it with badgers' skins. And they will put in the long pieces of wood to carry it.
|
11. And upon H5921 the golden H2091 altar H4196 they shall spread H6566 a cloth H899 of blue H8504 , and cover H3680 it with a covering H4372 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and shall put H7725 H853 to the staves H905 thereof:

12. They will take all the things used for the work done in the meeting tent. They will put them in a blue cloth and cover them with a covering of badgers' skins. And they will put them on the long pieces of wood to carry them.
|
12. And they shall take H3947 H853 all H3605 the instruments H3627 of ministry H8335 , wherewith H834 they minister H8334 in the sanctuary H6944 , and put H5414 them in H413 a cloth H899 of blue H8504 , and cover H3680 them with a covering H4372 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and shall put H5414 them on H5921 a bar H4132 :

13. Then they will take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth over it.
|
13. And they shall take away the ashes H1878 H853 from the altar H4196 , and spread H6566 a purple H713 cloth H899 thereon H5921 :
|
|
14. They will put on it all the things used for the work done on the altar: the fire-holders, meat-hooks, objects for picking up the ashes, and the pots. Then they will spread a covering of badgers' skins over it, and put in the long pieces of wood for carrying it.

14. And they shall put H5414 upon H5921 it H853 all H3605 the vessels H3627 thereof, wherewith H834 they minister H8334 about H5921 it, even H853 the censers H4289 , H853 the fleshhooks H4207 , and the shovels H3257 , and the basins H4219 , all H3605 the vessels H3627 of the altar H4196 ; and they shall spread H6566 upon H5921 it a covering H3681 of badgers H8476 ' skins H5785 , and put H7760 to the staves H905 of it.

15. Aaron and his sons will finish covering the holy objects and all the things of the meeting tent, as the people move on. After that the sons of Kohath will come to carry them. In this way they will not touch the holy objects and die. These are the things in the meeting tent which the sons of Kohath are to carry.
|
15. And when Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 have made an end H3615 of covering H3680 H853 the sanctuary H6944 , and all H3605 the vessels H3627 of the sanctuary H6944 , as the camp H4264 is to set forward H5265 ; after H310 that H3651 , the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 shall come H935 to bear H5375 it : but they shall not H3808 touch H5060 H413 any holy thing H6944 , lest they die H4191 . These H428 things are the burden H4853 of the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 .

16. Eleazar the son of Aaron the religious leader will take care of the oil for the light, the special perfume, the grain gift which is always given, and the oil for holy use. He will watch over all the meeting tent and all that is in it, the holy place and its objects."

16. And to the office H6486 of Eleazar H499 the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest H3548 pertaineth the oil H8081 for the light H3974 , and the sweet H5561 incense H7004 , and the daily H8548 meat offering H4503 , and the anointing H4888 oil H8081 , and the oversight H6486 of all H3605 the tabernacle H4908 , and of all H3605 that H834 therein is , in the sanctuary H6944 , and in the vessels H3627 thereof.

17. Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,
|
17. And the LORD H3068 spoke H1696 unto H413 Moses H4872 and unto H413 Aaron H175 , saying H559 ,
|
|
18. "Do not let the family group of the Kohathites be destroyed from among the Levites.
|
18. Cut ye not off H3772 H408 H853 the tribe H7626 of the families H4940 of the Kohathites H6956 from among H4480 H8432 the Levites H3881 :
|
|
19. But do this to them so they may live and not die when they come near the most holy objects. Aaron and his sons must go in and give each of them their work and what they are to carry.
|
19. But thus H2063 do H6213 unto them , that they may live H2421 , and not H3808 die H4191 , when they approach H5066 H853 unto the most holy things H6944 H6944 : Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 shall go in H935 , and appoint H7760 them every one H376 H376 to H5921 his service H5656 and to H413 his burden H4853 :

20. But they must not go in to see the holy objects even for a short time, or they will die."
|
20. But they shall not H3808 go in H935 to see H7200 when H853 the holy things H6944 are covered H1104 , lest they die H4191 .
|
|
21. The Lord said to Moses,

22. "Number the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers' houses, by their families.
|
22. Take H5375 also H1571 H853 the sum H7218 of the sons H1121 of Gershon H1648 , throughout the houses H1004 of their fathers H1 , by their families H4940 ;
|
|
23. Number those who are thirty years old and older, to fifty years old, all who go in to do the work in the meeting tent.
|
23. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 until H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 shalt thou number H6485 them; all H3605 that enter in H935 to perform H6633 the service H5656 , to do H5647 the work H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 .

24. These are the duties of the families of the Gershonites, in working and in carrying.
|
24. This H2063 is the service H5656 of the families H4940 of the Gershonites H1649 , to serve H5647 , and for burdens H4853 :
|
|
25. They will carry the curtains of the meeting tent and the meeting tent with its covering and the covering of badgers' skins that is over it. They will carry the curtain for the door of the meeting tent,
|
25. And they shall bear H5375 H853 the curtains H3407 of the tabernacle H4908 , and the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 , his covering H4372 , and the covering H4372 of the badgers' skins H8476 that H834 is above H4480 H4605 upon H5921 it , and the hanging H4539 for the door H6607 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ,

26. the curtains of the open space, and the curtain for the gate of the open space which is around the meeting tent and the altar. And they will carry the ropes for the curtains, and all the things used for their work. They will do whatever needs to be done with them.

26. And the hangings H7050 of the court H2691 , and the hanging H4539 for the door H6607 of the gate H8179 of the court H2691 , which H834 is by H5921 the tabernacle H4908 and by H5921 the altar H4196 round about H5439 , and their cords H4340 , and all H3605 the instruments H3627 of their service H5656 , and all H3605 that H834 is made H6213 for them : so shall they serve H5647 .

27. All the work of the sons of the Gershonites will be what Aaron and his sons tell them to do. They will tell them what they are to carry and what work they are to do. You will tell them what things they have a duty to carry.
|
27. At H5921 the appointment H6310 of Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 shall be H1961 all H3605 the service H5656 of the sons H1121 of the Gershonites H1649 , in all H3605 their burdens H4853 , and in all H3605 their service H5656 : and ye shall appoint H6485 unto H5921 them in charge H4931 H853 all H3605 their burdens H4853 .

28. This is the work to be done by the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the meeting tent. Ithamar the son of Aaron the religious leader will watch over their duties.

28. This H2063 is the service H5656 of the families H4940 of the sons H1121 of Gershon H1649 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 : and their charge H4931 shall be under the hand H3027 of Ithamar H385 the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest H3548 .

29. "As for the sons of Merari, number them by their families and by their fathers' houses.
|
29. As for the sons H1121 of Merari H4847 , thou shalt number H6485 them after their families H4940 , by the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ;
|
|
30. Number those who are thirty years old and older, to fifty years old, everyone who goes in to do the work of the meeting tent.
|
30. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even unto H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 shalt thou number H6485 them , every one H3605 that entereth H935 into the service H6635 , to do H5647 H853 the work H5656 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 .

31. This is what they are to carry for their work in the meeting tent: the wood pieces of the meeting tent, its cross pieces, pillars and its bases.
|
31. And this H2063 is the charge H4931 of their burden H4853 , according to all H3605 their service H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ; the boards H7175 of the tabernacle H4908 , and the bars H1280 thereof , and the pillars H5982 thereof , and sockets H134 thereof,

|
32. And they are to carry the pillars which are around the open space and their bases and their nails and ropes, with all the things used for their work. You will tell each man by name what he is to carry.
|
32. And the pillars H5982 of the court H2691 round about H5439 , and their sockets H134 , and their pins H3489 , and their cords H4340 , with all H3605 their instruments H3627 , and with all H3605 their service H5656 : and by name H8034 ye shall reckon H6485 H853 the instruments H3627 of the charge H4931 of their burden H4853 .

33. This is the work of the families of the sons of Merari, all their work in the meeting tent. Ithamar the son of Aaron the religious leader will watch over their duties."

34. So Moses and Aaron and the leaders of the people numbered the sons of the Kohathites by their families and by their fathers' houses.
|
34. And Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 and the chief H5387 of the congregation H5712 numbered H6485 H853 the sons H1121 of the Kohathites H6956 after their families H4940 , and after the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ,
|
|
35. They numbered those who were thirty years old and older, to fifty years old, everyone who went in to do the work in the meeting tent.
|
35. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even unto H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 , every one H3605 that entereth H935 into the service H6635 , for the work H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 :

36. And their number by families was 2,750.
|
36. And those that were numbered H6485 of them by their families H4940 were H1961 two thousand H505 seven H7651 hundred H3967 and fifty H2572 .
|
|
37. These are the numbered men of the Kohathite families, everyone who worked in the meeting tent. Moses and Aaron numbered them as the Lord told them to do through Moses.
|
37. These H428 were they that were numbered H6485 of the families H4940 of the Kohathites H6956 , all H3605 that might do service H5647 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 , which H834 Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 did number H6485 according to H5921 the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 by the hand H3027 of Moses H4872 .

38. The sons of Gershon were numbered, by their families and their fathers' houses,
|
38. And those that were numbered H6485 of the sons H1121 of Gershon H1648 , throughout their families H4940 , and by the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ,
|
|
39. from thirty years old to fifty years old. Everyone who went in to do the work in the meeting tent was numbered.
|
39. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even unto H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 , every one H3605 that entereth H935 into the service H6635 , for the work H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ,

40. And the number of their men by their families and by their fathers' houses was 2,630.
|
40. Even those that were numbered H6485 of them , throughout their families H4940 , by the house H1004 of their fathers H1 , were H1961 two thousand H505 and six H8337 hundred H3967 and thirty H7970 .
|
|
41. These are the numbered men of the families of the sons of Gershon, all who were working in the meeting tent. Moses and Aaron numbered them as the Lord told them to do.
|
41. These H428 are they that were numbered H6485 of the families H4940 of the sons H1121 of Gershon H1648 , of all H3605 that might do service H5647 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 , whom H834 Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 did number H6485 according to H5921 the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 .

42. The men of the families of the sons of Merari were numbered, by their families and their fathers' houses,

42. And those that were numbered H6485 of the families H4940 of the sons H1121 of Merari H4847 , throughout their families H4940 , by the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ,

43. from thirty years old to fifty years old. Everyone who went in to do the work in the meeting tent was numbered.
|
43. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even unto H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 , every one H3605 that entereth H935 into the service H6635 , for the work H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ,

44. And the number of their men by their families was 3,200.
|
44. Even those that were numbered H6485 of them after their families H4940 , were H1961 three H7969 thousand H505 and two hundred H3967 .
|
|
45. These are the numbered men of the families of the sons of Merari. Moses and Aaron numbered them as the Lord told them to do through Moses.
|
45. These H428 be those that were numbered H6485 of the families H4940 of the sons H1121 of Merari H4847 , whom H834 Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 numbered H6485 according to H5921 the word H6310 of the LORD H3068 by the hand H3027 of Moses H4872 .

46. Moses and Aaron and the leaders of Israel numbered all the men of the Levites by their families and their fathers' houses,
|
46. All H3605 those that were numbered H6485 H853 of the Levites H3881 , whom H834 Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 and the chief H5387 of Israel H3478 numbered H6485 , after their families H4940 , and after the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ,
|
|
47. from thirty years old to fifty years old. Everyone who could go in to do the work and the carrying of the meeting tent was numbered.
|
47. From thirty H7970 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 even unto H5704 fifty H2572 years H8141 old H1121 , every one H3605 that came H935 to do H5647 the service H5656 of the ministry H5656 , and the service H5656 of the burden H4853 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ,

48. And the number of their men was 8,580.
|
48. Even those that were numbered H6485 of them, were H1961 eight H8083 thousand H505 and five H2568 hundred H3967 and fourscore H8084 .
|
|
49. They were each given their work and load to carry, as the Lord told them to do through Moses. So these were his numbered men, just as the Lord had told Moses.
|
49. According to H5921 the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 they were numbered H6485 by the hand H3027 of Moses H4872 , every one H376 H376 according to H5921 his service H5656 , and according to H5921 his burden H4853 : thus were they numbered H6485 of him, as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
