1. We who have strong faith should help those who are weak. We should not live to please ourselves.

2. Each of us should live to please his neighbor. This will help him grow in faith.
|
2. Let G1063 every one G1538 of us G2257 please G700 his neighbor G4139 for G1519 his good G18 to G4314 edification G3619 .

3. Even Christ did not please Himself. The Holy Writings say, "The sharp words spoken against you fell on Me." (Psalm 69:9)
|
3. For G1063 even G2532 Christ G5547 pleased G700 not G3756 himself G1438 : but G235 , as G2531 it is written G1125 , The G3588 reproaches G3680 of them that reproached G3679 thee G4571 fell G1968 on G1909 me G1691 .

4. Everything that was written in the Holy Writings long ago was written to teach us. By not giving up, God's Word gives us strength and hope.

5. Now the God Who helps you not to give up and gives you strength will help you think so you can please each other as Christ Jesus did.

7. Receive each other as Christ received you. This will honor God.

8. Christ came to help the Jews. This proved that God had told the truth to their early fathers. This proved that God would do what He promised.

9. This was done so the people who are not Jews can thank God for His loving-kindness. The Holy Writings say, "This is why I will give thanks to you among the people who are not Jews. I will sing to Your name." (Psalm 18:49)

9. And G1161 that the G3588 Gentiles G1484 might glorify G1392 God G2316 for G5228 his mercy G1656 ; as G2531 it is written G1125 , For this cause G1223 G5124 I will confess G1843 to thee G4671 among G1722 the Gentiles G1484 , and G2532 sing G5567 unto thy G4675 name G3686 .

10. It says also, "You who are not Jews, be happy with His people, the Jews." (Deuteronomy 32:43)

11. And, "Honor and give thanks to the Lord, you who are not Jews. Let everyone honor Him." (Psalm 117:1)

12. And Isaiah says, "There will be One from the family of Jesse Who will be a leader over the people who are not Jews. Their hope will be in Him." (Isaiah 11:10)

12. And G2532 again G3825 , Isaiah G2268 saith G3004 , There shall be G2071 a root G4491 of Jesse G2421 , and G2532 he that shall rise G450 to reign over G757 the Gentiles G1484 ; in G1909 him G846 shall the Gentiles G1484 trust G1679 .

13. Our hope comes from God. May He fill you with joy and peace because of your trust in Him. May your hope grow stronger by the power of the Holy Spirit.

14. I am sure you are wise in all things and full of much good. You are able to help and teach each other.

15. I have written to you with strong words about some things. I have written so you would remember. God helped me write like this.

16. I am able to write these things because God made me a missionary to the people who are not Jews. I work as a servant of Jesus Christ. I preach the Good News of God so the people who are not Jews may be as a gift to God. The Holy Spirit will set them apart so God will be pleased with them.

That I should G3165 be G1511 the minister G3011 of Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 to G1519 the G3588 Gentiles G1484 , ministering G2418 the G3588 gospel G2098 of God G2316 , that G2443 the G3588 offering up G4376 of the G3588 Gentiles G1484 might be G1096 acceptable G2144 , being sanctified G37 by G1722 the Holy G40 Ghost G4151 .

17. I have reason to be proud of my work for God. It is because I belong to Christ Jesus.

18. I can only speak of what Christ has done through me. I have helped the people who are not Jews to obey Him. I have done it by words and by living with them.

19. God showed them His power through me. The Holy Spirit did powerful works through me in front of them. From Jerusalem to the country of Illyricum I have preached the Good News of Christ.

Through G1722 mighty G1411 signs G4592 and G2532 wonders G5059 , by G1722 the power G1411 of the Spirit G4151 of God G2316 ; so that G5620 from G575 Jerusalem G2419 , and G2532 round about G2945 unto G3360 Illyricum G2437 , I G3165 have fully preached G4137 the G3588 gospel G2098 of Christ G5547 .

20. It is my desire to preach the Good News where it has never been preached. I want to preach only where Christ is not known.

20. Yea G1161 , so G3779 have I strived G5389 to preach the gospel G2097 , not G3756 where G3699 Christ G5547 was named G3687 , lest G3363 I should build G3618 upon G1909 another man G245 's foundation G2310 :

21. The Holy Writings say, "Those who have never known about Him will see. And those who have never heard about Him will understand." (Isaiah 52:15)

21. But G235 as G2531 it is written G1125 , To whom G3739 he was not G3756 spoken G312 of G4012 , they G846 shall see G3700 : and G2532 they G3739 that have not G3756 heard G191 shall understand G4920 .

22. This is why I have been kept many times from coming to you.

23. But now I am finished with my work here. I have been wanting to come and visit you for many years.

24. I hope I can now. I am making plans to go to the country of Spain. On my way there I will stop and visit you. After I have had the joy of visiting you for awhile, you can help me on my way again.

Whensoever G5613 G1437 I take my journey G4198 into G1519 Spain G4681 , I will come G2064 to G4314 you G5209 : for G1063 I trust G1679 to see G2300 you G5209 in my journey G1279 , and G2532 to be brought on my way G4311 thitherward G1563 by G5259 you G5216 , if G1437 first G4412 I be somewhat G575 G3313 filled G1705 with your G5216 company.

25. But now I am going to Jerusalem to hand the Christians the gift of money.
|

26. The churches in the countries of Macedonia and Greece have decided to give money to help some of the poor Christians in Jerusalem.
|
26. For G1063 it hath pleased G2106 them of Macedonia G3109 and G2532 Achaia G882 to make G4160 a certain G5100 contribution G2842 for G1519 the G3588 poor G4434 saints G40 which G3588 are at G1722 Jerusalem G2419 .

27. They wanted to do it. They should help them in this way because they owe much to the Christians in Jerusalem. The Jews shared the Good News with the people who are not Jews. For this reason, they should share what they can with the Jews.
|
27. It hath pleased G2106 them verily G1063 ; and G2532 their G848 debtors G3781 they are G1526 . For G1063 if G1487 the G3588 Gentiles G1484 have been made partakers G2841 of their G848 spiritual things G4152 , their duty G3784 is also G2532 to minister G3008 unto them G846 in carnal things G4559 .

28. I will hand this gift of money to them. Then I will stop to see you on my way to the country of Spain.

28. When therefore G3767 I have performed G2005 this G5124 , and G2532 have sealed G4972 to them G846 this G5126 fruit G2590 , I will come G565 by G1223 you G5216 into G1519 Spain G4681 .

29. I know that when I come to you, Christ will give me much good to share with you.
|

30. I ask you from my heart, Christian brothers, to pray much for me. I ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

31. Pray that God will keep me safe from the people in the country of Judea who are not Christians. Pray also that the work I am to do for the Christians in Jerusalem will help them.

31. That G2443 I may be delivered G4506 from G575 them that do not believe G544 in G1722 Judea G2449 ; and G2532 that G2443 my G3450 service G1248 which G3588 I have for G1519 Jerusalem G2419 may be G1096 accepted G2144 of the G3588 saints G40 ;

32. Then I will be coming to you if God wants me to come. I will be full of joy, and together we can have some rest.
|
32. That G2443 I may come G2064 unto G4314 you G5209 with G1722 joy G5479 by G1223 the will G2307 of God G2316 , and G2532 may with you G5213 be refreshed G4875 .

33. May our God Who gives us peace, be with you all. Let it be so.
