1. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־יַעֲקֹב קוּם עֲלֵה בֵית־אֵל וְשֶׁב־שָׁם וַעֲשֵׂה־שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ לָאֵל הַנִּרְאֶה אֵלֶיךָ בְּבָרְחֲךָ מִפְּנֵי עֵשָׂו אָחִיךָ ׃
|
1. And God H430 said H559 unto H413 Jacob H3290 , Arise H6965 , go up H5927 to Bethel H1008 , and dwell H3427 there H8033 : and make H6213 there H8033 an altar H4196 unto God H410 , that appeared H7200 unto H413 thee when thou fleddest H1272 from the face H4480 H6440 of Esau H6215 thy brother H251 .

2. וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב אֶל־בֵּיתוֹ וְאֶל כָּל־אֲשֶׁר עִמּוֹ הָסִרוּ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵי הַנֵּכָר אֲשֶׁר בְּתֹכְכֶם וְהִטַּהֲרוּ וְהַחֲלִיפוּ שִׂמְלֹתֵיכֶם ׃
|
2. Then Jacob H3290 said H559 unto H413 his household H1004 , and to H413 all H3605 that H834 were with H5973 him , Put away H5493 H853 the strange H5236 gods H430 that H834 are among H8432 you , and be clean H2891 , and change H2498 your garments H8071 :

3. וְנָקוּמָה וְנַעֲלֶה בֵּית־אֵל וְאֶעֱשֶׂה־שָּׁם מִזְבֵּחַ לָאֵל הָעֹנֶה אֹתִי בְּיוֹם צָרָתִי וַיְהִי עִמָּדִי בַּדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר הָלָכְתִּי ׃
|
3. And let us arise H6965 , and go up H5927 to Bethel H1008 ; and I will make H6213 there H8033 an altar H4196 unto God H410 , who answered H6030 me in the day H3117 of my distress H6869 , and was H1961 with H5973 me in the way H1870 which H834 I went H1980 .

4. וַיִּתְּנוּ אֶל־יַעֲקֹב אֵת כָּל־אֱלֹהֵי הַנֵּכָר אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדָם וְאֶת־הַנְּזָמִים אֲשֶׁר בְּאָזְנֵיהֶם וַיִּטְמֹן אֹתָם יַעֲקֹב תַּחַת הָאֵלָה אֲשֶׁר עִם־שְׁכֶם ׃
|
4. And they gave H5414 unto H413 Jacob H3290 H853 all H3605 the strange H5236 gods H430 which H834 were in their hand H3027 , and all their earrings H5141 which H834 were in their ears H241 ; and Jacob H3290 hid H2934 them under H8478 the oak H424 which H834 was by H5973 Shechem H7927 .

5. וַיִּסָּעוּ וַיְהִי חִתַּת אֱלֹהִים עַל־הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹתֵיהֶם וְלֹא רָדְפוּ אַחֲרֵי בְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב ׃
|
5. And they journeyed H5265 : and the terror H2847 of God H430 was H1961 upon H5921 the cities H5892 that H834 were round about H5439 them , and they did not H3808 pursue H7291 after H310 the sons H1121 of Jacob H3290 .

6. וַיָּבֹא יַעֲקֹב לוּזָה אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן הִוא בֵּית־אֵל הוּא וְכָל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר־עִמּוֹ ׃
|
6. So Jacob H3290 came H935 to Luz H3870 , which H834 is in the land H776 of Canaan H3667 , that H1931 is , Bethel H1008 , he H1931 and all H3605 the people H5971 that H834 were with H5973 him.

7. וַיִּבֶן שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ וַיִּקְרָא לַמָּקוֹם אֵל בֵּית־אֵל כִּי שָׁם נִגְלוּ אֵלָיו הָאֱלֹהִים בְּבָרְחוֹ מִפְּנֵי אָחִיו ׃

7. And he built H1129 there H8033 an altar H4196 , and called H7121 the place H4725 El H416 -bethel: because H3588 there H8033 God H430 appeared H1540 unto H413 him , when he fled H1272 from the face H4480 H6440 of his brother H251 .

8. וַתָּמָת דְּבֹרָה מֵינֶקֶת רִבְקָה וַתִּקָּבֵר מִתַּחַת לְבֵית־אֵל תַּחַת הָאַלּוֹן וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ אַלּוֹן בָּכוּת ׃ פ

8. But Deborah H1683 Rebekah H7259 's nurse H3243 died H4191 , and she was buried H6912 beneath H4480 H8478 Bethel H1008 under H8478 an oak H437 : and the name H8034 of it was called H7121 Allon H439 -bachuth.

9. וַיֵּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶל־יַעֲקֹב עוֹד בְּבֹאוֹ מִפַּדַּן אֲרָם וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתוֹ ׃
|
9. And God H430 appeared H7200 unto H413 Jacob H3290 again H5750 , when he came H935 out of Padan H4480 H6307 -aram , and blessed H1288 him.

10. וַיֹּאמֶר־לוֹ אֱלֹהִים שִׁמְךָ יַעֲקֹב לֹא־יִקָּרֵא שִׁמְךָ עוֹד יַעֲקֹב כִּי אִם־יִשְׂרָאֵל יִהְיֶה שְׁמֶךָ וַיִּקְרָא אֶת־שְׁמוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל ׃

10. And God H430 said H559 unto him , Thy name H8034 is Jacob H3290 : thy name H8034 shall not H3808 be called H7121 any more H5750 Jacob H3290 , but H3588 H518 Israel H3478 shall be H1961 thy name H8034 : and he called H7121 H853 his name H8034 Israel H3478 .

11. וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ אֱלֹהִים אֲנִי אֵל שַׁדַּי פְּרֵה וּרְבֵה גּוֹי וּקְהַל גּוֹיִם יִהְיֶה מִמֶּךָּ וּמְלָכִים מֵחֲלָצֶיךָ יֵצֵאוּ ׃
|
11. And God H430 said H559 unto him, I H589 am God H410 Almighty H7706 : be fruitful H6509 and multiply H7235 ; a nation H1471 and a company H6951 of nations H1471 shall be H1961 of H4480 thee , and kings H4428 shall come out H3318 of thy loins H4480 H2504 ;

12. וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לְאַבְרָהָם וּלְיִצְחָק לְךָ אֶתְּנֶנָּה וּלְזַרְעֲךָ אַחֲרֶיךָ אֶתֵּן אֶת־הָאָרֶץ ׃
|
12. And the land H776 which H834 I gave H5414 Abraham H85 and Isaac H3327 , to thee I will give H5414 it , and to thy seed H2233 after H310 thee will I give H5414 H853 the land H776 .
|

13. וַיַּעַל מֵעָלָיו אֱלֹהִים בַּמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר אִתּוֹ ׃
|
13. And God H430 went up H5927 from H4480 H5921 him in the place H4725 where H834 he talked H1696 with H854 him.
|
|
14. וַיַּצֵּב יַעֲקֹב מַצֵּבָה בַּמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר אִתּוֹ מַצֶּבֶת אָבֶן וַיַּסֵּךְ עָלֶיהָ נֶסֶךְ וַיִּצֹק עָלֶיהָ שָׁמֶן ׃
|
14. And Jacob H3290 set up H5324 a pillar H4676 in the place H4725 where H834 he talked H1696 with H854 him, even a pillar H4678 of stone H68 : and he poured H5258 a drink offering H5262 thereon H5921 , and he poured H3332 oil H8081 thereon H5921 .

15. וַיִּקְרָא יַעֲקֹב אֶת־שֵׁם הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אִתּוֹ שָׁם אֱלֹהִים בֵּית־אֵל ׃
|
15. And Jacob H3290 called H7121 H853 the name H8034 of the place H4725 where H834 God H430 spoke H1696 with H854 him, Bethel H1008 .

|
16. וַיִּסְעוּ מִבֵּית אֵל וַיְהִי־עוֹד כִּבְרַת־הָאָרֶץ לָבוֹא אֶפְרָתָה וַתֵּלֶד רָחֵל וַתְּקַשׁ בְּלִדְתָּהּ ׃
|
16. And they journeyed H5265 from Bethel H4480 H1008 ; and there was H1961 but H5750 a little way H3530 H776 to come H935 to Ephrath H672 : and Rachel H7354 travailed H3205 , and she had hard H7185 labor H3205 .

|
17. וַיְהִי בְהַקְשֹׁתָהּ בְּלִדְתָּהּ וַתֹּאמֶר לָהּ הַמְיַלֶּדֶת אַל־תִּירְאִי כִּי־גַם־זֶה לָךְ בֵּן ׃
|
17. And it came to pass H1961 , when she was in hard H7185 labor H3205 , that the midwife H3205 said H559 unto her, Fear H3372 not H408 ; thou shalt have this H2088 son H1121 also H1571 .
|
|
18. וַיְהִי בְּצֵאת נַפְשָׁהּ כִּי מֵתָה וַתִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ בֶּן־אוֹנִי וְאָבִיו קָרָא־לוֹ בִנְיָמִין ׃
|
18. And it came to pass H1961 , as her soul H5315 was in departing H3318 , ( for H3588 she died H4191 ) that she called H7121 his name H8034 Ben H1126 -oni : but his father H1 called H7121 him Benjamin H1144 .

|
19. וַתָּמָת רָחֵל וַתִּקָּבֵר בְּדֶרֶךְ אֶפְרָתָה הִוא בֵּית לָחֶם ׃
|
19. And Rachel H7354 died H4191 , and was buried H6912 in the way H1870 to Ephrath H672 , which H1931 is Bethlehem H1035 .
|
|
20. וַיַּצֵּב יַעֲקֹב מַצֵּבָה עַל־קְבֻרָתָהּ הִוא מַצֶּבֶת קְבֻרַת־רָחֵל עַד־הַיּוֹם ׃
|
20. And Jacob H3290 set H5324 a pillar H4676 upon H5921 her grave H6900 : that H1931 is the pillar H4678 of Rachel H7354 's grave H6900 unto H5704 this day H3117 .
|
|
21. וַיִּסַּע יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֵּט אָהֳלֹה מֵהָלְאָה לְמִגְדַּל־עֵדֶר ׃
|
21. And Israel H3478 journeyed H5265 , and spread H5186 his tent H168 beyond H4480 H1973 the tower H4026 of Edar H4029 .
|
|
22. וַיְהִי בִּשְׁכֹּן יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּאָרֶץ הַהִוא וַיֵּלֶךְ רְאוּבֵן וַיִּשְׁכַּב אֶת־בִּלְהָה פִּילֶגֶשׁ אָבִיו וַיִּשְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל פ וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי־יַעֲקֹב שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר ׃
|
22. And it came to pass H1961 , when Israel H3478 dwelt H7931 in that H1931 land H776 , that Reuben H7205 went H1980 and lay with H7901 H853 Bilhah H1090 his father H1 's concubine H6370 : and Israel H3478 heard H8085 it . Now the sons H1121 of Jacob H3290 were H1961 twelve H8147 H6240 :

23. בְּנֵי לֵאָה בְּכוֹר יַעֲקֹב רְאוּבֵן וְשִׁמְעוֹן וְלֵוִי וִיהוּדָה וְיִשָּׂשכָר וּזְבוּלֻן ׃
|
23. The sons H1121 of Leah H3812 ; Reuben H7205 , Jacob H3290 's firstborn H1060 , and Simeon H8095 , and Levi H3878 , and Judah H3063 , and Issachar H3485 , and Zebulun H2074 :

|
24. בְּנֵי רָחֵל יוֹסֵף וּבִנְיָמִן ׃
|
24. The sons H1121 of Rachel H7354 ; Joseph H3130 , and Benjamin H1144 :
|
|
25. וּבְנֵי בִלְהָה שִׁפְחַת רָחֵל דָּן וְנַפְתָּלִי ׃
|
25. And the sons H1121 of Bilhah H1090 , Rachel H7354 's handmaid H8198 ; Dan H1835 , and Naphtali H5321 :
|
|
26. וּבְנֵי זִלְפָּה שִׁפְחַת לֵאָה גָּד וְאָשֵׁר אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב אֲשֶׁר יֻלַּד־לוֹ בְּפַדַּן אֲרָם ׃
|
26. And the sons H1121 of Zilpah H2153 , Leah H3812 's handmaid H8198 ; Gad H1410 , and Asher H836 : these H428 are the sons H1121 of Jacob H3290 , which H834 were born H3205 to him in Padan H6307 -aram.

27. וַיָּבֹא יַעֲקֹב אֶל־יִצְחָק אָבִיו מַמְרֵא קִרְיַת הָאַרְבַּע הִוא חֶבְרוֹן אֲשֶׁר־גָּר־שָׁם אַבְרָהָם וְיִצְחָק ׃
|
27. And Jacob H3290 came H935 unto H413 Isaac H3327 his father H1 unto Mamre H4471 , unto the city of Arbah H7153 , which H1931 is Hebron H2275 , where H834 H8033 Abraham H85 and Isaac H3327 sojourned H1481 .

28. וַיִּהְיוּ יְמֵי יִצְחָק מְאַת שָׁנָה וּשְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה ׃
|
28. And the days H3117 of Isaac H3327 were H1961 a hundred H3967 and fourscore H8084 years H8141 .
|
|
29. וַיִּגְוַע יִצְחָק וַיָּמָת וַיֵּאָסֶף אֶל־עַמָּיו זָקֵן וּשְׂבַע יָמִים וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ עֵשָׂו וְיַעֲקֹב בָּנָיו ׃ פ

29. And Isaac H3327 gave up the ghost H1478 , and died H4191 , and was gathered H622 unto H413 his people H5971 , being old H2205 and full H7649 of days H3117 : and his sons H1121 Esau H6215 and Jacob H3290 buried H6912 him.
