2 തന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ മൂപ്പനും തനിക്കുള്ളതിന്നൊക്കെയും വിചാരകനുമായ ദാസനോടു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ തുടയിന്‍ കീഴില്‍ വെക്കുക;

3 ചുറ്റും പാര്‍ക്കുംന്ന കനാന്യരുടെ കന്യകമാരില്‍നിന്നു നീ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാതെ,

4 എന്റെ ദേശത്തും എന്റെ ചാര്‍ച്ചക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു എന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കുമെന്നു സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിന്നും ഭൂമിക്കും ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിക്കും.

5 ദാസന്‍ അവനോടുപക്ഷേ സ്ത്രീക്കു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഈ ദേശത്തേക്കു വരുവാന്‍ മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ? നീ വിട്ടുപോന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ മകനെ മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

6 അബ്രാഹാം അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ മകനെ അവിടെക്കു മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്‍ക.

7 എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തില്‍നിന്നും ജന്മദേശത്തുനിന്നും എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നവനും എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തവനും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാന്‍ ഈ ദേശം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തവനുമായി സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്റെ മകന്നു നീ ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ അവിടെനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയക്കും.

8 എന്നാല്‍ സ്ത്രീക്കു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വരുവാന്‍ മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കില്‍ നീ ഈ സത്യത്തില്‍ നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും; എന്റെ മകനെ അവിടേക്കു മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോക മാത്രം അരുതു.

9 അപ്പോള്‍ ദാസന്‍ തന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ തുടയിന്‍ കീഴില്‍ കൈവെച്ചു അങ്ങനെ അവനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

10 അനന്തരം ആ ദാസന്‍ തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളില്‍ പത്തു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെയും യജമാനന്നുള്ള വിവിധമായ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളെയും കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മെസൊപ്പൊത്താമ്യയില്‍ നാഹോരിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു.

11 വൈകുന്നേരം സ്ത്രീകള്‍ വെള്ളം കോരുവാന്‍ വരുന്ന സമയത്തു അവന്‍ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു ഒരു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിറുത്തി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്‍

12 എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കൃപചെയ്തു ഇന്നുതന്നെ കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിച്ചുതരേണമേ.

13 ഇതാ, ഞാന്‍ കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിലക്കുന്നു; ഈ പട്ടണക്കാരുടെ കന്യകമാര്‍ വെള്ളം കോരുവാന്‍ വരുന്നു.

14 നിന്റെ പാത്രം ഇറക്കി എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ തരേണം എന്നു ഞാന്‍ പറയുമ്പോള്‍കുടിക്ക; നിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുക്കാമെന്നു പറയുന്ന സ്ത്രീ തന്നേ നീ നിന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു നിയമിച്ചവളായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നീ എന്റെ യജമാനനോടു കൃപ ചെയ്തു എന്നു ഞാന്‍ അതിനാല്‍ ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

15 അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു തീരുംമുമ്പെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മില്‍ക്കയുടെ മകന്‍ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകള്‍ റിബെക്കാ തോളില്‍ പാത്രവുമായി വന്നു.

16 ബാല അതിസുന്ദരിയും പുരുഷന്‍ തൊടാത്ത കന്യകയും ആയിരുന്നു; അവള്‍ കിണറ്റില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി പാത്രം നിറച്ചു കയറിവന്നു.

17 ദാസന്‍ വേഗത്തില്‍ അവളെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നുനിന്റെ പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം കുറെ എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18 യജമാനനേ, കുടിക്ക എന്നു അവള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു വേഗം പാത്രം കയ്യില്‍ ഇറക്കി അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുത്തു.

19 അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുത്ത ശേഷംനിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വേണ്ടുവോളം ഞാന്‍ കോരിക്കൊടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു,

20 പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം വേഗം തൊട്ടിയില്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു, പിന്നെയും കോരിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ കിണറ്റിലേക്കു ഔടി ഇറങ്ങി അവന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കും എല്ലാം കോരിക്കൊടുത്തു.

21 ആ പുരുഷന്‍ അവളെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി, യഹോവ തന്റെ യാത്രയെ സഫലമാക്കിയോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

22 ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ കുടിച്ചു തീര്‍ന്നപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ അര ശേക്കെല്‍ തൂക്കമുള്ള ഒരു പൊന്മൂകൂത്തിയും അവളുടെ കൈക്കിടുവാന്‍ പത്തു ശേക്കെല്‍ തൂക്കമുള്ള രണ്ടു പൊന്‍ വളയും എടുത്തു അവളോടു

23 നീ ആരുടെ മകള്‍? പറക; നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു രാപാര്‍പ്പാന്‍ സ്ഥലമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

26 അപ്പോള്‍ ആ പുരുഷന്‍ കുനിഞ്ഞു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു

27 എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ ; അവന്‍ എന്റെ യജമാനനോടുള്ള ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ഈ യാത്രയില്‍ യഹോവ എന്നെ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28 ബാല ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അമ്മയുടെ വീട്ടുകാരെ ഈ വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു.

29 റിബെക്കെക്കു ഒരു സഹോദരന്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു ലാബാന്‍ എന്നു പേര്‍. ലാബാന്‍ പുറത്തു കിണറ്റിങ്കല്‍ ആ പുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു.

30 അവന്‍ മൂകൂത്തിയും സഹോദരിയുടെ കൈമേല്‍ വളയും കാണുകയും ആ പുരുഷന്‍ ഇന്നപ്രകാരം എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ റിബെക്കയുടെ വാക്കു കേള്‍ക്കയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍ ആ പുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു; അവന്‍ കിണറ്റിങ്കല്‍ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളുടെ അരികെ നില്‍ക്കയായിരുന്നു.

31 അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ യഹോവയാല്‍ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനേ, അകത്തു വരിക; എന്തിന്നു പുറത്തു നിലക്കുന്നു? വീടും ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സ്ഥലവും ഞാന്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32 അങ്ങനെ ആ പുരുഷന്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നു. അവന്‍ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ കോപ്പഴിച്ചു ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വയ്ക്കോലും തീനും അവന്നും കൂടെയുള്ളവര്‍ക്കും കാലുകളെ കഴുകുവാന്‍ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു, അവന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ ഭക്ഷണം വെച്ചു.

33 ഞാന്‍ വന്ന കാര്യം അറിയിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. പറക എന്നു അവനും പറഞ്ഞു.

34 അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന്‍ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസന്‍ .

35 യഹോവ എന്റെ യജമാനനെ ഏറ്റവും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവന്‍ മഹാനായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു; അവന്‍ അവന്നു ആടു, മാടു, പൊന്നു, വെള്ളി, ദാസീദാസന്മാര്‍, ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ കഴുതകള്‍ എന്നീവകയൊക്കെയും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

36 എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറാ വൃദ്ധയായശേഷം എന്റെ യജമാനന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവന്‍ തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

37 ഞാന്‍ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്ന കനാന്‍ ദേശത്തിലെ കനാന്യ കന്യകമാരില്‍നിന്നു നീ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാതെ,

38 എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിലും വംശക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യജമാനന്‍ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

39 ഞാന്‍ യജമാനനോടുപക്ഷേ സ്ത്രീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പേരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു അവന്‍ എന്നോടു

40 ഞാന്‍ സേവിച്ചുപോരുന്ന യഹോവ തന്റെ ദൂതനെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ അയച്ചു, നീ എന്റെ വംശത്തില്‍നിന്നും പിതൃഭവനത്തില്‍നിന്നും എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ യാത്രയെ സഫലമാക്കും;

41 എന്റെ വംശക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ നീ ഈ സത്യത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും; അവര്‍ നിനക്കു തരുന്നില്ല എന്നു വരികിലും നീ ഈ സത്യത്തില്‍ നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

42 ഞാന്‍ ഇന്നു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഞാന്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ യാത്രയെ നീ സഫലമാക്കി എങ്കില്‍--

43 ഇതാ, ഞാന്‍ കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിലക്കുന്നു; വെള്ളം കോരുവാന്‍ ഒരു കന്യക വരികയും ഞാന്‍ അവളോടുനിന്റെ പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം കുറെ എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ തരിക എന്നു പറയുമ്പോള്‍, അവള്‍ എന്നോടുകുടിക്ക,

45 ഞാന്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു തീരുമ്മുമ്പെ ഇതാ, റിബെക്കാ തോളില്‍ പാത്രവുമായി വന്നു കിണറ്റില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി വെള്ളം കോരി; ഞാന്‍ അവളോടുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

46 അവള്‍ വേഗം തോളില്‍നിന്നു പാത്രം ഇറക്കികുടിക്ക, ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന്‍ കുടിച്ചു; അവള്‍ ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുത്തു.

47 ഞാന്‍ അവളോടുനീ ആരുടെ മകള്‍ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവള്‍മില്‍ക്കാ നാഹോറിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകള്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന്‍ അവളുടെ മൂക്കിന്നു മൂകൂത്തിയും കൈകള്‍ക്കു വളയും ഇട്ടു.

48 ഞാന്‍ കുനിഞ്ഞു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു, എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ മകളെ അവന്റെ മകന്നായിട്ടു എടുപ്പാന്‍ എന്നെ നേര്‍വ്വഴിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നവനായി എന്റെ യജമാനന്‍ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ വാഴ്ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

49 ആകയാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്റെ യജമാനനോടു ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും കാണിക്കുമെങ്കില്‍ എന്നോടു പറവിന്‍ ; അല്ല എന്നു വരികില്‍ അതും പറവിന്‍ ; എന്നാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളാം.

50 അപ്പോള്‍ ലാബാനും ബെഥൂവേലുംഈ കാര്യം യഹോവയാല്‍ വരുന്നു; നിന്നോടു ഗുണമെങ്കിലും ദോഷമെങ്കിലും പറവാന്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു കഴികയില്ല.

51 ഇതാ, റിബെക്കാ നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോക; യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവള്‍ നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയാകട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

52 അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസന്‍ അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവയെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

53 പിന്നെ ദാസന്‍ വെള്ളിയാഭരണങ്ങളും പൊന്നാഭരണങ്ങളും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും എടുത്തു റിബെക്കെക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവളുടെ സഹോദരന്നും അമ്മെക്കും വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കള്‍ കൊടുത്തു.

54 അവനും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്തു രാപാര്‍ത്തു. രാവിലെ അവര്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റശേഷം അവന്‍ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ എന്നെ അയക്കേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

55 അതിന്നു അവളുടെ സഹോദരനും അമ്മയുംബാല ഒരു പത്തുദിവസമെങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാര്‍ത്തിട്ടു പിന്നെ പോരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

56 അവന്‍ അവരോടുഎന്നെ താമസിപ്പിക്കരുതേ; യഹോവ എന്റെ യാത്ര സഫലമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ പോകുവാന്‍ എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

57 ഞങ്ങള്‍ ബാലയെ വിളിച്ചു അവളോടു ചോദിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

58 അവര്‍ റിബെക്കയെ വിളിച്ചു അവളോടുനീ ഈ പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ പോകുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഞാന്‍ പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

59 അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരിയായ റിബെക്കയെയും അവളുടെ ധാത്രിയെയും അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസനെയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

60 അവര്‍ റിബെക്കയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവളോടുസഹോദരീ, നീ അനേകായിരമായി തീരുക; നിന്റെ സന്തതി, തന്നെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നവരുടെ പടിവാതില്‍ കൈവശമാക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

61 പിന്നെ റിബെക്കയും അവളുടെ ദാസിമാരും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഒട്ടകപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ആ പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; അങ്ങനെ ദാസന്‍ റിബെക്കയെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

62 എന്നാല്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്‍ ബേര്‍ലഹയിരോയീവരെ വന്നു; അവന്‍ തെക്കേദേശത്തു പാര്‍ക്കയായിരുന്നു.

63 വൈകുന്നേരത്തു യിസ്ഹാക്‍ ധ്യാനിപ്പാന്‍ വെളിന്‍ പ്രദേശത്തു പോയിരുന്നു; അവന്‍ തലപൊക്കി നോക്കി ഒട്ടകങ്ങള്‍ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

64 റിബെക്കയും തലപൊക്കി യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു ഒട്ടകപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി.

65 അവള്‍ ദാസനോടുവെളിന്‍ പ്രദേശത്തു നമ്മെ എതിരേറ്റു വരുന്ന പുരുഷന്‍ ആരെന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു എന്റെ യജമാനന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു ദാസന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ ഒരു മൂടുപടം എടുത്തു തന്നെ മൂടി.

66 താന്‍ ചെയ്ത കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും ദാസന്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

67 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ അവളെ തന്റെ അമ്മയായ സാറയുടെ കൂടാരത്തില്‍ കൊണ്ടു പോയി. അവന്‍ റിബെക്കയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവള്‍ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു; അവന്നു അവളില്‍ സ്നേഹമായി. ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മരണദുഃഖം തീര്‍ന്നു.

43 Behold ^H2009 , I ^H595 stand ^H5324 by ^H5921 the well ^H5869 of water; ^H4325 and it shall come to pass, ^H1961 that when the virgin ^H5959 cometh forth ^H3318 to draw ^H7579 water , and I say ^H559 to ^H413 her , Give me , I pray thee, ^H4994 a little ^H4592 water ^H4325 of thy pitcher ^H4480 ^H3537 to drink; ^H8248

44 And she say ^H559 to ^H413 me, Both ^H1571 drink ^H8354 thou, ^H859 and I will also ^H1571 draw ^H7579 for thy camels: ^H1581 let the same ^H1931 be the woman ^H802 whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 hath appointed out ^H3198 for my master's ^H113 son. ^H1121
