1 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ വൃദ്ധനായി അവന്റെ കണ്ണു കാണ്മാന്‍ വഹിയാതവണ്ണം മങ്ങിയപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ ഒരു ദിവസം മൂത്ത മകനായ ഏശാവിനെ വിളിച്ചു അവനോടുമകനേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്‍ അവനോടുഞാന്‍ ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2 അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ ഞാന്‍ വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മരണദിവസം അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

3 നീ ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങളായ വില്ലും പൂണിയും എടുത്തു കാട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നു എനിക്കു വേണ്ടി വേട്ടതേടി

4 എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി, ഞാന്‍ മരിക്കുമ്മുമ്പെ തിന്നു നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ തന്റെ മകനായ ഏശാവിനോടു പറയുമ്പോള്‍ റിബെക്കാ കേട്ടു ഏശാവോ വേട്ട തേടി കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ കാട്ടില്‍ പോയി.

6 റിബെക്കാ തന്റെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

7 ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ തിന്നു നിന്നെ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു രുചികരമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കിത്തരിക എന്നു പറയുന്നതു ഞാന്‍ കേട്ടു.

8 ആകയാല്‍ മകനേ, നീ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതു ചെയ്ക.

9 ആട്ടിന്‍ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു രണ്ടു നല്ല കോലാട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടികളെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ഞാന്‍ അവയെക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കും.

10 നിന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ തിന്നു തന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലേണം.

11 അതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അമ്മയായ റിബെക്കയോടുഎന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവു രോമമുള്ളവനും ഞാന്‍ രോമമില്ലാത്തവനും ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

12 പക്ഷേ അപ്പന്‍ എന്നെ തപ്പിനോക്കും; ഞാന്‍ ഉപായി എന്നു അവന്നു തോന്നീട്ടു ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ മേല്‍ അനുഗ്രഹമല്ല ശാപം തന്നേ വരുത്തും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13 അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവനോടുമകനേ, നിന്റെ ശാപം എന്റെ മേല്‍ വരട്ടെ; എന്റെ വാക്കു മാത്രം കേള്‍ക്ക; പോയി കൊണ്ടുവാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14 അവന്‍ ചെന്നു പിടിച്ചു അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അമ്മ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

15 പിന്നെ റിബെക്കാ വീട്ടില്‍ തന്റെ പക്കല്‍ ഉള്ളതായ മൂത്തമകന്‍ ഏശാവിന്റെ വിശേഷ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഇളയമകന്‍ യാക്കോബിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.

16 അവള്‍ കോലാട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടികളുടെ തോല്‍കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈകളും രോമമില്ലാത്ത കഴുത്തും പൊതിഞ്ഞു.

17 താന്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ രുചികരമായ ഭോജനവും അപ്പവും തന്റെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ കൊടുത്തു.

18 അവന്‍ അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നുഅപ്പാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന്‍ ഇതാ; നീ ആര്‍, മകനേ എന്നു അവന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.

19 യാക്കോബ് അപ്പനോടുഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതന്‍ ഏശാവു; എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു ഞാന്‍ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇരുന്നു എന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി തിന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ തന്റെ മകനോടുമകനേ, നിനക്കു ഇത്ര വേഗത്തില്‍ കിട്ടിയതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്റെ നേര്‍ക്കും വരുത്തിത്തന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

21 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ യാക്കോബിനോടുമകനെ, അടുത്തുവരിക; നീ എന്റെ മകനായ ഏശാവു തന്നേയോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ തപ്പിനോക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22 യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു അടുത്തു ചെന്നു; അവന്‍ അവനെ തപ്പിനോക്കിശബ്ദം യാക്കോബിന്റെ ശബ്ദം; കൈകള്‍ ഏശാവിന്റെ കൈകള്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23 അവന്റെ കൈകള്‍ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ കൈകള്‍ പോലെ രോമമുള്ളവയാകകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ തിരിച്ചറിയാതെ അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

24 നീ എന്റെ മകന്‍ ഏശാവ് തന്നേയോ എന്നു അവന്‍ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅതേ എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

25 അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവാ; ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ മകന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി ഞാന്‍ തിന്നാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന്‍ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു, അവന്‍ തിന്നു; അവന്‍ വീഞ്ഞും കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവന്‍ കുടിച്ചു.

26 പിന്നെ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്‍ അവനോടുമകനേ, നീ അടുത്തുവന്നു എന്നെ ചുംബിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27 അവന്‍ അടുത്തുചെന്നു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു; അവന്‍ അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ വാസന മണത്തു അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുഇതാ, എന്റെ മകന്റെ വാസന യഹോവ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വയലിലെ വാസനപോലെ.

28 ദൈവം ആകാശത്തിന്റെ മഞ്ഞും ഭൂമിയുടെ പുഷ്ടിയും അനവധി ധന്യവും വീഞ്ഞും നിനക്കു തരുമാറാകട്ടെ.

29 വംശങ്ങള്‍ നിന്നെ സേവിക്കട്ടെ; ജാതികള്‍ നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ; നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്‍ക്കും നീ പ്രഭുവായിരിക്ക; നിന്റെ മാതാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്‍ നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവന്‍ എല്ലാം ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ ; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവന്‍ എല്ലാം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ .

30 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ഉടനെ അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ഏശാവ് വേട്ടകഴിഞ്ഞു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

31 അവനും രുചികരമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അപ്പനോടുഅപ്പന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മകന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി തിന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32 അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്‍ അവനോടുനീ ആര്‍ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ മകന്‍ , നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതന്‍ ഏശാവ് എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

33 അപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്‍ അത്യന്തം ഭ്രമിച്ചു നടുങ്ങിഎന്നാല്‍ വേട്ടതേടി എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നവന്‍ ആര്‍? നീ വരുംമുമ്പെ ഞാന്‍ സകലവും തിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34 ഏശാവ് അപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അതി ദുഃഖിതനായി ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുഅപ്പാ, എന്നെ, എന്നെയും കൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

35 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ഉപായത്തോടെ വന്നു നിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം അപഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36 ശരി, യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേര്‍; രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അവന്‍ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; അവന്‍ എന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠാവകാശം അപഹരിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഇതാ, എന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹവും അപഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. നീ എനിക്കു ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹവും കരുതിവെച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു അവന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.

37 യിസ്ഹാക്‍ ഏശാവിനോടുഞാന്‍ അവനെ നിനക്കു പ്രഭുവാക്കി അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ദാസന്മാരാക്കി; അവന്നു ധാന്യവും വീഞ്ഞുംകൊടുത്തു; ഇനി നിനക്കു ഞാന്‍ എന്തു തരേണ്ടു മകനേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

38 ഏശാവ് പിതാവിനോടുനിനക്കു ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളുവോ, അപ്പാ? എന്നെ, എന്നെയും കൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ, അപ്പാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

40 നിന്റെ വാളുകൊണ്ടു നീ ഉപജീവിക്കും; നിന്റെ സഹോദരനെ നീ സേവിക്കും. നിന്റെ കെട്ടു അഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ നീ അവന്റെ നുകം കഴുത്തില്‍നിന്നു കുടഞ്ഞുകളയും.

41 തന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച അനുഗ്രഹം നിമിത്തം ഏശാവു അവനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചുഅപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കുന്ന കാലം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു ഏശാവു ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

42 മൂത്തമകനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ വാക്കു റിബെക്കാ അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍, അവള്‍ ഇളയമകനായ യാക്കോബിനെ ആളയച്ചു വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ഏശാവ് നിന്നെ കൊന്നു പകവീട്ടുവാന്‍ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു.

43 ആകയാല്‍ മകനേഎന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്‍ക്കനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹാരാനില്‍ എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക.

44 നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ക്രോധം ശമിക്കുവോളം കുറെ നാള്‍ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക.

45 നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു നിന്നോടുള്ള കോപം മാറി നീ അവനോടു ചെയ്തതു അവന്‍ മറക്കുംവരെ അവിടെ താമസിക്ക; പിന്നെ ഞാന്‍ ആളയച്ചു നിന്നെ അവിടെ നിന്നു വരുത്തിക്കൊള്ളാം; ഒരു ദിവസം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇരുവരും എനിക്കു ഇല്ലാതെയാകുന്നതു എന്തിനു?

46 പിന്നെ റിബെക്കാ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടുഈ ഹിത്യസ്ത്രീകള്‍ നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ജീവന്‍ എനിക്കു അസഹ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ ദേശക്കാരത്തികളായ ഇവരെപ്പോലെയുള്ള ഒരു ഹിത്യ സ്ത്രീയെ യാക്കോബ് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ എന്തിന്നു ജീവിക്കുന്നു? എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
