1 അശ്ശൂര്‍രാജാവായ സര്ഗ്ഗോന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം തര്‍ത്താന്‍ അശ്ദോദിലേക്കു ചെന്നു അശ്ദോദിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു അതിനെ പിടിച്ച ആണ്ടില്‍,
2 ആ കാലത്തു തന്നേ, യഹോവ ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവോടുനീ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ അരയില്‍നിന്നു രട്ടുശീല അഴിച്ചുവെച്ചു കാലില്‍നിന്നു ചെരിപ്പും ഊരിക്കളക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവന്‍ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു നഗ്നനായും ചെരിപ്പിടാതെയും നടന്നു.
3 പിന്നെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു; എന്റെ ദാസനായ യെശയ്യാവു മിസ്രയീമിന്നും കൂശിന്നും അടയാളവും അത്ഭുതവും ആയിട്ടു മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം നഗ്നനായും ചെരിപ്പിടാതെയും നടന്നതുപോലെ,
4 അശ്ശൂര്‍രാജാവു മിസ്രയീമില്‍നിന്നുള്ള ബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കൂശില്‍നിന്നുള്ള പ്രവാസികളെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം മിസ്രയീമിന്റെ ലജ്ജെക്കായിട്ടു നഗ്നന്മാരും ചെരിപ്പിടാത്തവരും ആസനം മറെക്കാത്തവരും ആയി പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകും.
5 അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യാശയായിരുന്ന കൂശും തങ്ങളുടെ പുകഴ്ചയായിരുന്ന മിസ്രയീമുംനിമിത്തം ഭ്രമിച്ചു ലജ്ജിക്കും.
6 ഈ കടല്‍ക്കരയിലെ നിവാസികള്‍ അന്നുഅശ്ശൂര്‍രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കപ്പെടുവാന്‍ സഹായത്തിന്നായി നാം ഔടിച്ചെന്നിരുന്ന നമ്മുടെ പ്രത്യാശ ഇങ്ങനെ ആയല്ലോ; ഇനി നാം എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷപ്പെടും എന്നു പറയും.
