1 എന്നാൽ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ഇരുന്ന ദേശത്തിന്നു തിമിരം നിൽക്കയില്ല; പണ്ടു അവൻ സെബൂലൂൻ ദേശത്തിന്നു നഫ്താലിദേശത്തിന്നും ഹീനത വരുത്തിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതിൽ അവൻ കടൽവഴിയായി യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മണ്ഡലത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം വരുത്തും.
2 ഇരുട്ടിൽ നടന്ന ജനം വലിയൊരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; അന്ധതമസ്സുള്ള ദേശത്തു പാർത്തവരുടെ മേൽ പ്രകാശം ശോഭിച്ചു.
3 നീ വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ജാതിയെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവർ നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്ന സന്തോഷം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തിലെ സന്തോഷംപോലെയും കൊള്ളപങ്കിടുമ്പോൾ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.
4 അവൻ ചുമക്കുന്ന നുകവും അവന്റെ ചുമലിലെ കോലും അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്റെ വടിയും മിദ്യാന്റെ നാളിലെപ്പോലെ നീ ഒടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 ഒച്ചയോടെ ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്ന യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൊക്കെയും രക്തംപിരണ്ട വസ്ത്രവും വിറകുപോലെ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും.
6 നമുക്കു ഒരു ശിശു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു ഒരു മകൻ നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആധിപത്യം അവന്റെ തോളിൽ ഇരിക്കും; അവന്നു അത്ഭുതമന്ത്രി, വീരനാം ദൈവം, നിത്യപിതാവു, സമാധാന പ്രഭു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
7 അവന്റെ ആധിപത്യത്തിന്റെ വർദ്ധനെക്കും സമാധാനത്തിന്നും അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിലും അവന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിലും ഇന്നുമുതൽ എന്നെന്നേക്കും അവൻ അതിനെ ന്യായത്തോടും നീതിയോടും കൂടെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു നിലനിർത്തും; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ തീക്ഷ്ണത അതിനെ നിവർത്തിക്കും.
8 കർത്താവു യാക്കോബിൽ ഒരു വചനം അയച്ചു; അതു യിസ്രായേലിന്മേൽ വീണും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
9 ഇഷ്ടികകൾ വീണുപോയി എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങൾ വെട്ടുകല്ലുകൊണ്ടു പണിയും; കാട്ടത്തികളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങൾ അവെക്കു പകരം ദേവദാരുക്കളെ നട്ടുകൊള്ളും
10 എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഡംഭത്തോടും ഹൃദയഗർവ്വത്തോടുംകൂടെ പറയുന്ന എഫ്രയീമും ശമർയ്യനിവാസികളുമായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അതു അറിയും.
11 അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ രെസീന്റെ വൈരികളെ അവന്റെ നേരെ ഉയർത്തി, അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ഇളക്കിവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 അരാമ്യർ കിഴക്കും ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ പടിഞ്ഞാറും തന്നേ; അവർ യിസ്രായേലിനെ വായ് പിളർന്നു വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയും. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.
13 എന്നിട്ടും ജനം തങ്ങളെ അടിക്കുന്നവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയുന്നില്ല; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.
14 അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു തലയും വാലും പനമ്പട്ടയും പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലും ഒരു ദിവസത്തിൽ തന്നേ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.
15 മൂപ്പനും മൂന്യപുരുഷനും തന്നേ തല; അസത്യം ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകൻ തന്നേ വാൽ.
16 ഈ ജനത്തെ നടത്തുന്നവർ അവരെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവരാൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നവർ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.
17 അതുകൊണ്ടു കർത്താവു അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കയില്ല; അവരുടെ അനാഥന്മാരോടും വിധവമാരോടും അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുകയുമില്ല; എല്ലാവരും വഷളന്മാരും ദുഷ്കർമ്മികളും ആകുന്നു; എല്ലാവായും ഭോഷത്വം സംസാരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.
18 ദുഷ്ടത തീപോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്നു; അതു പറക്കാരയും മുള്ളും ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വനത്തിലെ പള്ളക്കാടുകളിൽ കത്തുന്നു; പുകത്തൂണുകളായി ഉരുണ്ടുപൊങ്ങും.
19 സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ കോപംനിമിത്തം ദേശം ദഹിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജനവും തീക്കു ഇരയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നില്ല.
20 ഒരുത്തൻ വലത്തുഭാഗം കടിച്ചുപറിച്ചിട്ടും വിശന്നിരിക്കും; ഇടത്തുഭാഗവും തിന്നും; തൃപ്തിവരികയുമില്ല; ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ഭുജത്തിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകളയുന്നു.

19 Through the wrath H5678 of the LORD H3068 EDS of hosts H6635 is the land H776 NFS darkened H6272 , and the people H5971 shall be H1961 W-VQY3MS as the fuel H3980 of the fire H784 CMS : no H3808 NADV man H376 NMS shall spare H2550 his brother H251 CMS-3MS .
20 And he shall snatch H1504 on H5921 PREP the right hand H3225 NFS , and be hungry H7456 ; and he shall eat H398 on H5921 PREP the left hand H8040 NMS , and they shall not H3808 W-NPAR be satisfied H7646 : they shall eat H398 every man H376 NMS the flesh H1320 CMS of his own arm H2220 :
21 Manasseh H4519 , Ephraim H669 ; and Ephraim H669 , Manasseh H4519 : and they H1992 PPRO-3MP together H3162 ADV-3MS shall be against H5921 PREP Judah H3063 .
