2 യഹോവയാണ എന്നു നീ പരമാര്‍ത്ഥമായും ന്യായമായും നീതിയായും സത്യം ചെയ്കയും ജാതികള്‍ അവനില്‍ തങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവനില്‍ പുകഴുകയും ചെയ്യും.

3 യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേമ്യരോടും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള്‍ മുള്ളുകളുടെ ഇടയില്‍ വിതെക്കാതെ തരിശുനിലം ഉഴുവിന്‍ .

4 യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികള്‍നിമിത്തം എന്റെ കോപം തീപോലെ ജ്വലിച്ചു ആര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തുകൂടാതവണ്ണം കത്താതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ യഹോവെക്കായി പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രചര്‍മ്മം നീക്കിക്കളവിന്‍ .

5 യെഹൂദയില്‍ അറിയിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി ദേശത്തു കാഹളം ഊതുവാന്‍ പറവിന്‍ ; കൂടിവരുവിന്‍ ; നമുക്കു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോകാം എന്നു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറവിന്‍ .

6 സീയോന്നു കൊടി ഉയര്‍ത്തുവിന്‍ ; നില്‍ക്കാതെ ഔടിപ്പോകുവിന്‍ ; ഞാന്‍ വടക്കുനിന്നു അനര്‍ത്ഥവും വലിയ നാശവും വരുത്തും.

7 സിംഹം പള്ളക്കാട്ടില്‍ നിന്നു ഇളകിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജാതികളുടെ സംഹാരകന്‍ ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കുവാന്‍ തന്റെ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍ നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നിവാസികള്‍ ഇല്ലാതവണ്ണം നശിപ്പിക്കും.

8 ഇതു നിമിത്തം രട്ടുടുപ്പിന്‍ ; വിലപിച്ചു മുറയിടുവിന്‍ ; യഹോവയുടെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നമ്മെ വിട്ടുമാറീട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

9 അന്നാളില്‍ രാജാവിന്റെ ധൈര്യവും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ ധൈര്യവും ക്ഷയിക്കും; പുരോഹിതന്മാര്‍ ഭ്രമിച്ചും പ്രവാചകന്മാര്‍ സ്തംഭിച്ചും പോകും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10 അതിന്നു ഞാന്‍ അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവേ, പ്രാണനില്‍ വാള്‍ കടന്നിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നീ ഈ ജനത്തെയും യെരൂശലേമിനെയും ഏറ്റവും വഞ്ചിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11 ആ കാലത്തു ഈ ജനത്തോടും യെരൂശലേമിനോടും പറവാനുള്ളതെന്തെന്നാല്‍മരുഭൂമിയിലെ മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളില്‍നിന്നു ഒരു ഉഷ്ണക്കാറ്റു പേറ്റുവാനല്ല കൊഴിപ്പാനുമല്ല എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിക്കു നേരെ ഊതും.

12 ഇതിലും കൊടുതായൊരു കാറ്റു എന്റെ കല്പനയാല്‍ വരും; ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നേ അവരോടു ന്യായവാദം കഴിക്കും.

13 ഇതാ, അവന്‍ മേഘങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ കയറിവരുന്നു; അവന്റെ രഥങ്ങള്‍ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെ ആകുന്നു; അവന്റെ കുതിരകള്‍ കഴുക്കളെക്കാളും വേഗതയുള്ളവ; അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം; നാം നശിച്ചല്ലോ.

14 യെരൂശലേമേ, നീ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത കഴുകിക്കളക; നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടവിചാരങ്ങള്‍ എത്രത്തോളം നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില്‍ ഇരിക്കും.

15 ദാനില്‍നിന്നു ഉറക്കെ ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; എഫ്രയീംമലയില്‍നിന്നു അനര്‍ത്ഥത്തെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.

16 ജാതികളോടു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിന്‍ ; ഇതാ, കോട്ടവളയുന്നവര്‍ ദൂരദേശത്തു നിന്നു വന്നു യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നേരെ ആര്‍പ്പുവിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യെരൂശലേമിനോടു അറിയിപ്പിന്‍ .

17 അവള്‍ എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവര്‍ വയലിലെ കാവല്‍ക്കാരെപ്പോലെ അവളുടെ നേരെ വന്നു ചുറ്റും വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

18 നിന്റെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും ഹേതുവായിട്ടത്രേ ഇവ നിനക്കു വന്നതു; ഇത്ര കൈപ്പായിരിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു തട്ടുവാനും കാരണം നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത തന്നേ.

19 അയ്യോ എന്റെ ഉദരം, എന്റെ ഉദരം! എനിക്കു നോവു കിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അയ്യോ എന്റെ ഹൃദയഭിത്തികള്‍! എന്റെ നെഞ്ചിടിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു മിണ്ടാതെ ഇരുന്നുകൂടാ; എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കാഹളനാദവും യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ ആര്‍പ്പുവിളിയും കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

20 നാശത്തിന്മേല്‍ നാശം വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നു; ദേശമൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമായി പെട്ടെന്നു എന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങളും ഒരു ക്ഷണത്തില്‍ എന്റെ തിരശ്ശീലകളും കവര്‍ച്ചയായ്പോയി.

21 എത്രത്തോളം ഞാന്‍ കൊടി കണ്ടു കാഹളധ്വനി കേള്‍ക്കേണ്ടിവരും?

22 എന്റെ ജനം ഭോഷന്മാര്‍; അവര്‍ എന്നെ അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവര്‍ ബുദ്ധികെട്ട മക്കള്‍; അവര്‍ക്കും ഒട്ടും ബോധമില്ല; ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ അവര്‍ സമര്‍ത്ഥന്മാര്‍; നന്മ ചെയ്‍വാനോ അവര്‍ക്കും അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ.

23 ഞാന്‍ ഭൂമിയെ നോക്കി അതിനെ പാഴും ശൂന്യമായി കണ്ടു; ഞാന്‍ ആകാശത്തെ നോക്കി; അതിന്നു പ്രകാശം ഇല്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

24 ഞാന്‍ പര്‍വ്വതങ്ങളെ നോക്കി; അവ വിറെക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; കുന്നുകള്‍ എല്ലാം ആടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

25 ഞാന്‍ നോക്കി, ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും കണ്ടില്ല; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള്‍ ഒക്കെയും പറന്നു പോയിരുന്നു.

26 ഞാന്‍ നോക്കി ഉദ്യാനം മരുഭൂമിയായ്തീര്‍ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അതിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളൊക്കെയും യഹോവയാല്‍ അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം ഹേതുവായി ഇടിഞ്ഞുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

27 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുദേശമൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമാകും; എങ്കിലും ഞാന്‍ മുഴുവനായി മുടിച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

28 ഇതുനിമിത്തം ഭൂമി വിലപിക്കും; മീതെ ആകാശം കറുത്തു പോകും; ഞാന്‍ നിര്‍ണ്ണയിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന്‍ അനുതപിക്കയില്ല, പിന്‍ മാറുകയുമില്ല.

29 കുതിരച്ചേവകരുടെയും വില്ലാളികളുടെയും ആരവം ഹേതുവായി സകല നഗരവാസികളും ഔടിപ്പോകുന്നു; അവര്‍ പള്ളക്കാടുകളില്‍ ചെന്നു പാറകളിന്മേല്‍ കയറുന്നു; സകല നഗരവും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആരും അവിടെ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നതുമില്ല.

30 ഇങ്ങനെ ശൂന്യമായ്പോകുമ്പോള്‍ നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യും? നീ രക്താംബരം ധരിച്ചാലും പൊന്നാഭരണം അണിഞ്ഞാലും നിന്റെ കണ്ണില്‍ മഷി എഴുതിയാലും വ്യര്‍ത്ഥമായി നിനക്കു സൌന്ദര്യം വരുത്തുന്നു; നിന്റെ ജാരന്മാര്‍ നിന്നെ നിരസിച്ചു നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന്‍ നോക്കുന്നു.

31 ഈറ്റുനോവു കിട്ടിയവളുടെ ഒച്ചപോലെയും കടിഞ്ഞൂല്‍കുട്ടിയെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നവളുടെ ഞരക്കംപോലെയും ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഞാന്‍ കേട്ടു; നെടുവീര്‍പ്പിട്ടും കൈമലര്‍ത്തിയുംകൊണ്ടുഅയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ പ്രാണന്‍ കുലപാതകന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്ന സീയോന്‍ പുത്രിയുടെ ശബ്ദം തന്നേ.
