1 അവന്‍ കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ പിറവിയിലെ കുരുടനായോരു മനുഷ്യനെ കണ്ടു.

2 അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, ഇവന്‍ കുരുടനായി പിറക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ആര്‍ പാപം ചെയ്തു? ഇവനോ ഇവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

3 അതിന്നു യേശുഅവന്‍ എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെങ്കിലും പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവപ്രവൃത്തി അവങ്കല്‍ വെളിവാകേണ്ടതിന്നത്രേ.

4 എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി പകല്‍ ഉള്ളേടത്തോളം നാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ആര്‍ക്കും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുകൂടാത്ത രാത്രി വരുന്നു;

5 ഞാന്‍ ലോകത്തില്‍ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

6 ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്‍ നിലത്തു തുപ്പി തുപ്പല്‍കൊണ്ടു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി ചേറു അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേല്‍ പൂശി

7 നീ ചെന്നു ശിലോഹാംകുളത്തില്‍ കഴുകുക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ശിലോഹാം എന്നതിന്നു അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ എന്നര്‍ത്ഥം. അവന്‍ പോയി കഴുകി, കണ്ണു കാണുന്നവനായി മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

8 അയല്‍ക്കാരും അവനെ മുമ്പെ ഇരക്കുന്നവനായി കണ്ടവരുംഇവനല്ലയോ അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു ഭിക്ഷ യാചിച്ചവന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9 അവന്‍ തന്നേഎന്നു ചിലരും അല്ല, അവനെപ്പോലെയുള്ളവന്‍ എന്നു മറ്റുചിലരും പറഞ്ഞു; ഞാന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

10 അവര്‍ അവനോടുനിന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവന്‍

11 യേശു എന്നു പേരുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്‍ ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേല്‍ പൂശിശിലോഹാംകുളത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു കഴുകുക എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ഞാന്‍ പോയി കഴുകി കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12 അവന്‍ എവിടെ എന്നു അവര്‍ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

13 കുരുടനായിരുന്നവനെ അവര്‍ പരീശന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

14 യേശു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി അവന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതു ശബ്ബത്ത് നാളില്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.

15 അവന്‍ കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പരീശന്മാരും അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. അവന്‍ അവരോടുഅവന്‍ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേല്‍ ചേറു തേച്ചു ഞാന്‍ കഴുകി; കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16 പരീശന്മാരില്‍ ചിലര്‍ഈ മനുഷ്യന്‍ ശബ്ബത്ത് പ്രമാണിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍നിന്നു വന്നവനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. മറ്റു ചിലര്‍പാപിയായോരു മനുഷ്യന്നു ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള അടയാളങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ എങ്ങനെ കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ ഒരു ഭിന്നത ഉണ്ടായി.

17 അവര്‍ പിന്നെയും കുരുടനോടുനിന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നീ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅവന്‍ ഒരു പ്രവാചകന്‍ എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

18 കാഴ്ചപ്രാപിച്ചവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു ചോദിക്കുവോളം അവന്‍ കുരുടനായിരുന്നു എന്നും കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നും യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.

19 കുരുടനായി ജനിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ മകന്‍ ഇവന്‍ തന്നെയോ? എന്നാല്‍ അവന്നു ഇപ്പോള്‍ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അവര്‍ അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

20 അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര്‍ഇവന്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മകന്‍ എന്നും കുരുടനായി ജനിച്ചവന്‍ എന്നും ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിയുന്നു.

21 എന്നാല്‍ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ കണ്ണു ആര്‍ തുറന്നു എന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവനോടു ചോദിപ്പിന്‍ ; അവന്നു പ്രായം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ അവന്‍ തന്നേ പറയും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

22 യെഹൂദന്മാരെ ഭയപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ടത്രേ അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞതു; അവനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു ഏറ്റുപറയുന്നവന്‍ പള്ളിഭ്രഷ്ടനാകേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ പറഞ്ഞൊത്തിരുന്നു

23 അതുകൊണ്ടത്രേ അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര്‍അവന്നു പ്രായം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവനോടു ചോദിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു.

24 കുരുടനായിരുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെ അവര്‍ രണ്ടാമതും വിളിച്ചുദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്ക; ആ മനുഷ്യന്‍ പാപി എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ അവന്‍ പാപിയോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ല; ഒന്നു അറിയുന്നു; ഞാന്‍ കുരുടനായിരുന്നു, ഇപ്പോള്‍ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

26 അവര്‍ അവനോടുഅവന്‍ നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തു? നിന്റെ കണ്ണു എങ്ങനെ തുറന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

27 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങള്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചില്ല; വീണ്ടും കേള്‍പ്പാന്‍ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ ആകുവാന്‍ മനസ്സുണ്ടോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

28 അപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ അവനെ ശകാരിച്ചുനീ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്‍ ; ഞങ്ങള്‍ മോശെയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍.

29 മോശെയോടു ദൈവം സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിയുന്നു; ഇവനോ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30 ആ മനുഷ്യന്‍ അവരോടുഎന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നിട്ടും അവന്‍ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാത്തതു ആശ്ചയ്യം.

31 പാപികളുടെ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥന ദൈവം കേള്‍ക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നും ദൈവഭക്തനായിരുന്നു അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്റെ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥന കേള്‍ക്കുന്നു എന്നും നാം അറിയുന്നു.

32 കുരുടനായി പിറന്നവന്റെ കണ്ണു ആരെങ്കിലും തുറന്നപ്രകാരം ലോകം ഉണ്ടായതുമുതല്‍ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല.

33 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍നിന്നു വന്നവന്‍ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ അവന്നു ഒന്നും ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ കഴികയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

34 അവര്‍ അവനോടുനീ മുഴുവനും പാപത്തില്‍ പിറന്നവന്‍ ; നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ പുറത്താക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

35 അവനെ പുറത്താക്കി എന്നു യേശു കേട്ടു; അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍നീ ദൈവപുത്രനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

36 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ യജമാനനേ, അവന്‍ ആര്‍ ആകുന്നു? ഞാന്‍ അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കാം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

37 യേശു അവനോടുനീ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന്‍ അവന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38 ഉടനെ അവന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവേ, ഞാന്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

39 കാണാത്തവര്‍ കാണ്മാനും കാണുന്നവര്‍ കുരുടര്‍ ആവാനും ഇങ്ങനെ ന്യായവിധിക്കായി ഞാന്‍ ഇഹലോകത്തില്‍ വന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.

40 അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ചില പരീശന്മാര്‍ ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞങ്ങളും കുരുടരോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

41 യേശു അവരോടു നിങ്ങള്‍ കുരുടര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പാപം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല്‍ഞങ്ങള്‍ കാണുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപം നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
