2 അപ്പോള്‍ യോശുവ സര്‍വ്വ ജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്‍യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും നാഹോരിന്റെയും പിതാവായ തേറഹ് പണ്ടു നദിക്കക്കരെ പാര്‍ത്തു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചു പോന്നു.

3 എന്നാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ നദിക്കക്കരെനിന്നുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു കനാന്‍ ദേശത്തൊക്കെയും സഞ്ചരിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ സന്തതിയെ വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കയും അവന്നു യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

4 യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു ഞാന്‍ യാക്കോബിനെയും ഏശാവിനെയും കൊടുത്തു; ഏശാവിന്നു ഞാന്‍ സേയീര്‍പര്‍വ്വതം അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തു; എന്നാല്‍ യാക്കോബും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോയി.

5 പിന്നെ ഞാന്‍ മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും അയച്ചു; ഞാന്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ച പ്രവൃത്തികളാല്‍ അതിനെ ബാധിച്ചു; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നിങ്ങളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു.

6 അങ്ങനെ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീമില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; നിങ്ങള്‍ കടലിന്നരികെ എത്തി; മിസ്രയീമ്യര്‍ രഥങ്ങളോടും കുതിരകളോടുംകൂടെ ചെങ്കടല്‍വരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ പിന്‍ തുടര്‍ന്നു;

7 അവര്‍ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കും മിസ്രയീമ്യര്‍ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ അന്ധകാരം വെച്ചു കടല്‍ അവരുടെമേല്‍ വരുത്തി അവരെ മുക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന്‍ മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടു ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള്‍ ഏറിയ കാലം മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ കഴിച്ചു.

8 പിന്നെ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ പാര്‍ത്തിരുന്ന അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു; നിങ്ങള്‍ അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന്‍ അവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചു, നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

9 അനന്തരം സിപ്പോരിന്റെ മകന്‍ മോവാബ്യരാജാവായ ബാലാക്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു; നിങ്ങളെ ശപിപ്പാന്‍ ബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാമിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു.

10 എങ്കിലും എനിക്കു ബിലെയാമിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്‍പ്പാന്‍ മനസ്സില്ലായ്കയാല്‍ അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ അവന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു.

11 പിന്നെ നിങ്ങള്‍ യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്‍ കടന്നു യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു വന്നു; യെരീഹോ നിവാസികള്‍, അമോര്‍യ്യര്‍, പെരിസ്യര്‍, കനാന്യര്‍, ഹിത്യര്‍, ഗിര്‍ഗ്ഗസ്യര്‍, ഹിവ്യര്‍, യെബൂസ്യര്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു; ഞാന്‍ അവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

12 ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ കടുന്നലിനെ അയച്ചു; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ ആ രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; നിന്റെ വാളുകൊണ്ടല്ല, നിന്റെ വില്ലുകെണ്ടും അല്ല.

13 നിങ്ങള്‍ പ്രയത്നം ചെയ്യാത്ത ദേശവും നിങ്ങള്‍ പണിയാത്ത പട്ടണങ്ങളും ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തന്നു; നിങ്ങള്‍ അവയില്‍ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നു; നിങ്ങള്‍ നട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളും ഒലിവുതോട്ടങ്ങളും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അനുഭവമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

14 ആകയാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ പരമാര്‍ത്ഥതയോടും വിശ്വസ്തതയോടുംകൂടെ സേവിപ്പിന്‍ . നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ നദിക്കക്കരെയും മിസ്രയീമിലുംവെച്ചു സേവിച്ച ദേവന്മാരെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും യഹോവയെത്തന്നേ സേവിക്കയും ചെയ്‍വിന്‍ .

15 യഹോവയെ സേവിക്കുന്നതു നന്നല്ലെന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തോന്നുന്നെങ്കില്‍ നദിക്കക്കരെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ സേവിച്ച ദേവന്മാരെയോ നിങ്ങള്‍ പാര്‍ത്തുവരുന്ന ദേശത്തിലെ അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെയോ ആരെ സേവിക്കും എന്നു ഇന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ . ഞാനും എന്റെ കുടുംബവുമോ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയെ സേവിക്കും.

16 അതിന്നു ജനം ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിപ്പാന്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സംഗതി വരരുതേ.

17 ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ഞങ്ങള്‍ കാണ്‍കെ ആ വലിയ അടയാളങ്ങള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കയും ഞങ്ങള്‍ നടന്ന എല്ലാവഴിയിലും ഞങ്ങള്‍ കടന്നുപോന്ന സകലജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിലും ഞങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തവന്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തന്നേയല്ലോ.

18 ദേശത്തു പാര്‍ത്തിരുന്ന അമോര്‍യ്യര്‍ മുതലായ സകലജാതികളെയും യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ആകയാല്‍ ഞങ്ങളും യഹോവയെ സേവിക്കും; അവനല്ലോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം.

19 യോശുവ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു യഹോവയെ സേവിപ്പാന്‍ കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; അവന്‍ പരിശുദ്ധദൈവം; അവന്‍ തീക്ഷണതയുള്ള ദൈവം; അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളെയും പാപങ്ങളെയും ക്ഷമിക്കയില്ല.

20 നിങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചാല്‍ മുമ്പെ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നന്മചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്‍ തിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തിന്മചെയ്തു നിങ്ങളെ സംഹരിക്കും.

21 ജനം യോശുവയോടുഅല്ല, ഞങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയെത്തന്നേ സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22 ആകയാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം ചായിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

23 ജനം യോശുവയോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ സേവിക്കും; അവന്റെ വാക്കു ഞങ്ങള്‍ അനുസരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 അങ്ങനെ യോശുവ അന്നു ജനവുമായി ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു; അവര്‍ക്കും ശെഖേമില്‍ വെച്ചു ഒരു ചട്ടവും പ്രമാണവും നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

25 പിന്നെ യോശുവ ഈ വചനങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തില്‍ എഴുതി; ഒരു വലിയ കല്ലെടുത്തു അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിന്നരികെയുള്ള കരുവേലകത്തിന്‍ കീഴെ നാട്ടിയുംവെച്ചു യോശുവ സകലജനത്തോടും

26 ഇതാ, ഈ കല്ലു നമുക്കു സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അതു യഹോവ നമ്മോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങള്‍ നിഷേധിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27 ഇങ്ങനെ യോശുവ ജനത്തെ താന്താങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തിലേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

28 അതിന്റെ ശേഷം യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായി നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവ നൂറ്റിപ്പത്തു വയസ്സുള്ളവനായി മരിച്ചു.

29 അവനെ എഫ്രയീംപര്‍വ്വതത്തിലുള്ള തിമ്നാത്ത്-സേരഹില്‍ ഗായശ് മലയുടെ വടക്കുവശത്തു അവന്റെ അവകാശഭൂമിയില്‍ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

30 യോശുവയുടെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും യോശുവ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നവരായി യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളും അറിഞ്ഞവരായ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും യിസ്രായേല്‍ യഹോവയെ സേവിച്ചു.

31 യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍ നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോന്ന യോസേഫിന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ അവര്‍ ശെഖേമില്‍, യാക്കോബ് ശെഖേമിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹാമോരിന്റെ മക്കളോടു നൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശിന്നു വാങ്ങിയിരുന്ന നിലത്തു, അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അതു യോസേഫിന്റെ മക്കള്‍ക്കു അവകാശമായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു.

32 അഹരോന്റെ മകന്‍ എലെയാസാരും മരിച്ചു; അവനെ അവന്റെ മകനായ ഫീനെഹാസിന്നു എഫ്രയീംപര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍ കൊടുത്തിരുന്ന കുന്നില്‍ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

14 Now therefore ^H6258 fear ^H3372 ^H853 the LORD, ^H3068 and serve ^H5647 him in sincerity ^H8549 and in truth: ^H571 and put away ^H5493 ^H853 the gods ^H430 which ^H834 your fathers ^H1 served ^H5647 on the other side ^H5676 of the flood, ^H5104 and in Egypt; ^H4714 and serve ^H5647 ye ^H853 the LORD. ^H3068

16 And the people ^H5971 answered ^H6030 and said, ^H559 God forbid ^H2486 that we should forsake ^H4480 ^H5800 ^H853 the LORD, ^H3068 to serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods; ^H430

19 And Joshua ^H3091 said ^H559 unto ^H413 the people, ^H5971 Ye cannot ^H3808 ^H3201 serve ^H5647 ^H853 the LORD: ^H3068 for ^H3588 he ^H1931 is a holy ^H6918 God; ^H430 he ^H1931 is a jealous ^H7072 God; ^H410 he will not ^H3808 forgive ^H5375 your transgressions ^H6588 nor your sins. ^H2403

20 If ^H3588 ye forsake ^H5800 ^H853 the LORD, ^H3068 and serve ^H5647 strange ^H5236 gods, ^H430 then he will turn ^H7725 and do you hurt, ^H7489 and consume ^H3615 you, after ^H310 that ^H834 he hath done you good. ^H3190

21 And the people ^H5971 said ^H559 unto ^H413 Joshua, ^H3091 Nay; ^H3808 but ^H3588 we will serve ^H5647 ^H853 the LORD. ^H3068

22 And Joshua ^H3091 said ^H559 unto ^H413 the people, ^H5971 Ye ^H859 are witnesses ^H5707 against yourselves that ^H3588 ye ^H859 have chosen ^H977 you ^H853 the LORD, ^H3068 to serve ^H5647 him . And they said, ^H559 We are witnesses. ^H5707

24 And the people ^H5971 said ^H559 unto ^H413 Joshua, ^H3091 ^H853 The LORD ^H3068 our God ^H430 will we serve, ^H5647 and his voice ^H6963 will we obey. ^H8085

25 So Joshua ^H3091 made ^H3772 a covenant ^H1285 with the people ^H5971 that ^H1931 day, ^H3117 and set ^H7760 them a statute ^H2706 and an ordinance ^H4941 in Shechem. ^H7927
