1 യേശു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്‍ വിട്ടു മടങ്ങി; ആത്മാവു അവനെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു നടത്തി; പിശാചു അവനെ നാല്പതു ദിവസം പരീക്ഷിച്ചുകെകണ്ടിരുന്നു.

2 ആ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ അവന്‍ ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിച്ചില്ല; അവ കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവന്നു വിശന്നു.

3 അപ്പോള്‍ പിശാചു അവനോടുനീ ദൈവ പുത്രന്‍ എങ്കില്‍ ഈ കല്ലിനോടു അപ്പമായി ത്തീരുവാന്‍ കല്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 യേശു അവനോടുമനുഷ്യന്‍ അപ്പംകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമല്ല ജീവിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5 പിന്നെ പിശാചു അവനെ മേലോട്ടു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി ലോകത്തിലെ സകല രാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ക്ഷണനേരത്തില്‍ അവന്നു കാണിച്ചു

6 ഈ അധികാരം ഒക്കെയും അതിന്റെ മഹത്വവും നിനക്കു തരാം; അതു എങ്കല്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവന്നു ഞാന്‍ കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

7 നീ എന്നെ നമസ്കരിച്ചാല്‍ അതെല്ലാം നിന്റെതാകും എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

8 യേശു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു അവനെ മാത്രമേ ആരാധിക്കാവു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

9 പിന്നെ അവന്‍ അവനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോയി ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രത്തിന്മേല്‍ നിറുത്തി അവനോടുനീ ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ എങ്കില്‍ ഇവിടെ നിന്നു താഴോട്ടു ചാടുക.

10 “നിന്നെ കാപ്പാന്‍ അവന്‍ തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടു നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു കല്പിക്കയും

11 നിന്റെ കാല്‍ കല്ലിനോടു തട്ടാതവണ്ണം അവര്‍ നിന്നെ കയ്യില്‍ താങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12 യേശു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവിനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കരുതു എന്നു അരുച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

13 അങ്ങനെ പിശാചു സകല പരീക്ഷയും തികെച്ചശേഷം കുറെ കാലത്തേക്കു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി.

14 യേശു ആത്മാവിന്റെ ശകതിയോടെ ഗലീലെക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു; അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാട്ടില്‍ ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.

15 അവന്‍ അവരുടെ പള്ളികളില്‍ ഉപദേശിച്ചു; എല്ലാവരും അവനെ പ്രശംസിച്ചു.

16 അവന്‍ വളര്‍ന്ന നസറെത്തില്‍ വന്നുശബ്ബത്തില്‍ തന്റെ പതിവുപോലെ പള്ളിയില്‍ ചെന്നു വായിപ്പാന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്നു.

17 യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അവന്‍ പുസ്തകം വിടര്‍ത്തി

18 “ദരിദ്രന്മാരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവു എന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്കയാല്‍ അവന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെമല്‍ ഉണ്ടു; ബദ്ധന്മാര്‍ക്കും വിടുതലും കുരുടന്മാര്‍ക്കും കാഴ്ചയും പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും പീഡിതന്മാരെ വിടുവിച്ചയപ്പാനും

19 കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ പ്രസാദവര്‍ഷം പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം കണ്ടു.

20 പിന്നെ അവന്‍ പുസ്തകം മടക്കി ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരന്നു തിരികെ കൊടുത്തിട്ടു ഇരുന്നു; പള്ളിയിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരുടെയും കണ്ണു അവങ്കല്‍ പതിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

21 അവന്‍ അവരോടുഇന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്റെ വചനം കേള്‍ക്കയില്‍ ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്തിന്നു നിവൃത്തി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.

22 എല്ലാവരും അവനെ പുകഴ്ത്തി, അവന്റെ വായില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട ലാവണ്യ വാക്കുകള്‍ നിമിത്തം ആശ്ചര്യപെട്ടു; ഇവന്‍ യോസേഫിന്റെ മകന്‍ അല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23 അവന്‍ അവരോടുവൈദ്യാ, നിന്നെത്തന്നേ സൌഖ്യമാക്കുക എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലും കഫര്‍ന്നഹൂമില്‍ ഉണ്ടായി കേട്ടതുഎല്ലാം ഈ നിന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തിലും ചെയ്കഎന്നും നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്നോടു പറയും നിശ്ചയം.

24 ഒരു പ്രവാചകനും തന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തില്‍ സമ്മതനല്ല എന്നു ഞാന്‍ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25 ഏലീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു ആകാശം മൂവാണ്ടും ആറു മാസവും അടഞ്ഞിട്ടു ദേശത്തു എങ്ങും മഹാ ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്രായേലില്‍ പല വിധവമാര്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന്‍ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥമായി നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

26 എന്നാല്‍ സിദോനിലെ സരെപ്തയില്‍ ഒരു വിധവയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കല്ലാതെ അവരില്‍ ആരുടെയും അടുക്കലേക്കു ഏലീയാവിനെ അയച്ചില്ല.

27 അവ്വണ്ണം എലീശാപ്രവാചകന്റെ കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേലില്‍ പല കുഷ്ഠരോഗികള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സുറിയക്കാരനായ നയമാന്‍ അല്ലാതെ അവരാരും ശുദ്ധമായില്ല എന്നും അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

28 പള്ളിയിലുള്ളവര്‍ ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു എല്ലാവരും കോപം നിറഞ്ഞവരായി എഴുന്നേറ്റു

29 അവനെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി അവരുടെ പട്ടണം പണിതിരുന്ന മലയുടെ വക്കോളം കൊണ്ടുപോയി തലകീഴായി തള്ളിയിടുവാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചു.

30 അവനോ അവരുടെ നടുവില്‍ കൂടി കടന്നുപോയി.

31 അനന്തരം അവന്‍ ഗലീലയിലെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ കഫര്‍ന്നഹൂമില്‍ ചെന്നു ശബ്ബത്തില്‍ അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുപോന്നു.

32 അവന്റെ വചനം അധികാരത്തോടെ ആകയാല്‍ അവര്‍ അവന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തില്‍ വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

33 അവിടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ അശുദ്ധഭൂതം ബാധിച്ച ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

34 അവന്‍ നസറായനായ യേശുവേ, വിടു; ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില്‍ എന്തു? ഞങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? നീ ആര്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

35 മിണ്ടരുതു; അവനെ വിട്ടുപോക എന്നു യേശു അതിനെ ശാസിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ഭൂതം അവനെ നടുവില്‍ തള്ളിയിട്ടു കേടു ഒന്നും വരുത്താതെ അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

36 എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും വിസ്മയം ഉണ്ടായിഈ വചനം എന്തു? അധികാരത്തോടും ശക്തിയോടുംകൂടെ അവന്‍ അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവ പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോകുന്നു എന്നു തമ്മില്‍ പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

37 അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാടെങ്ങും പരന്നു.

38 അവന്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി ശിമോന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നു. ശിമോന്റെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മ കഠിനജ്വരംകൊണ്ടു വലഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല്‍ അവര്‍ അവള്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

39 അവന്‍ അവളെ കുനിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി, ജ്വരത്തെ ശാസിച്ചു; അതു അവളെ വിട്ടുമാറി; അവള്‍ ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.

40 സൂര്യന്‍ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നാനാവ്യാധികള്‍ പിടിച്ച ദീനക്കാര്‍ ഉള്ളവര്‍ ഒക്കെയും അവരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന്‍ ഔരോരുത്തന്റെയും മേല്‍ കൈ വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.

41 പലരില്‍ നിന്നും ഭൂതങ്ങള്‍; നീ ദൈവപുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു നില വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; താന്‍ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു അവ അറികകൊണ്ടു മിണ്ടുവാന്‍ അവന്‍ സമ്മതിക്കാതെ അവയെ ശാസിച്ചു.

42 നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഒരു നിര്‍ജ്ജനസ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി. പുരുഷാരം അവനെ തിരഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ അരികത്തു വന്നു തങ്ങളെ വിട്ടു പോകാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ അവനെ തടുത്തു.

43 അവന്‍ അവരോടുഞാന്‍ മറ്റുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും ദൈവരാജ്യം സുവിശേഷിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ഇതിനായിട്ടല്ലോ എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

44 അങ്ങനെ അവന്‍ ഗലീലയിലെ പള്ളികളില്‍ പ്രസംഗിച്ചുപോന്നു.
