2 “ഞാന്‍ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി എന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍ നിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കും.

3 കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവിന്‍ അവന്റെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുവിന്‍ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ വാക്കു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ യോഹന്നാന്‍ വന്നു

4 മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചും പാപമോചനത്തിന്നായുള്ള മാനസാന്തര സ്നാനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമ്യര്‍ എല്ലാവരും വന്നു പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞു യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്‍ നദിയില്‍ അവനാല്‍ സ്നാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു.

5 യോഹന്നാനോ ഒട്ടക രോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉടുപ്പും അരയില്‍ തോല്‍ വാറും ധരിച്ചും വെട്ടുക്കിളിയും കാട്ടുതേനും ഉപജീവിച്ചും പോന്നു.

6 എന്നിലും ബലമേറിയവന്‍ എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു കുനിഞ്ഞഴിപ്പാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ യോഗ്യനല്ല.

7 ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവനോ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവില്‍ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു അവന്‍ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

8 ആ കാലത്തു യേശു ഗലീലയിലെ നസറെത്തില്‍ നിന്നു വന്നു യോഹന്നാനാല്‍ യോര്‍ദ്ദാനില്‍ സ്നാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു.

9 വെള്ളത്തില്‍ നിന്നു കയറിയ ഉടനെ ആകാശം പിളരുന്നതും ആത്മാവു പ്രാവുപോലെ തന്റെ മേല്‍ വരുന്നതും കണ്ടു

10 നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രന്‍ ; നിന്നില്‍ ഞാന്‍ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.

11 അനന്തരം ആത്മാവു അവനെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോകുവാന്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചു.

12 അവിടെ അവന്‍ സാത്താനാല്‍ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു നാല്പതു ദിവസം മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ കൂട്ടു മൃഗങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദൂതന്മാര്‍ അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു പോന്നു.

13 എന്നാല്‍ യോഹന്നാന്‍ തടവില്‍ ആയശേഷം യേശു ഗലീലയില്‍ ചെന്നു ദൈവ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിച്ചു

14 കാലം തികഞ്ഞു ദൈവരാജ്യം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു സുവിശേഷത്തില്‍ വിശ്വസിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15 അവന്‍ ഗലീലക്കടല്പുറത്തു നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ശീമോനും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസും കടലില്‍ വല വീശുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവര്‍ മീന്‍ പിടിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.

16 യേശു അവരോടുഎന്നെ അനുഗമിപ്പിന്‍ ; ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ മുനഷ്യരെ പിടിക്കുന്നവരാക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17 ഉടനെ അവര്‍ വല വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

18 അവിടെ നിന്നു അല്പം മുന്നോട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ സെബെദിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യോഹന്നാനും പടകില്‍ ഇരുന്നു വല നന്നാക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

19 ഉടനെ അവരെയും വിളിച്ചു; അവര്‍ അപ്പനായ സെബെദിയെ കൂലിക്കാരോടുകൂടെ പടകില്‍ വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

20 അവര്‍ കഫര്‍ന്നഹൂമിലേക്കു പോയി; ശബ്ബത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ ചെന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

21 അവന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തിങ്കല്‍ അവര്‍ വിസ്മയിച്ചു; അവന്‍ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെപ്പോലെയല്ല, അധികാരമുള്ളവനായിട്ടത്രേ അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതു.

22 അവരുടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ അശുദ്ധാത്മാവുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ ണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്‍ നിലവിളിച്ചു

23 നസറായനായ യേശുവേ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില്‍ എന്തു? ഞങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നുവോ? നീ ആര്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പിരിശുദ്ധന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 യേശു അതിനെ ശാസിച്ചുമിണ്ടരുതു; അവനെ വിട്ടു പോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25 അപ്പോള്‍ അശുദ്ധാത്മാവു അവനെ ഇഴെച്ചു, ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു അവനെ വിട്ടു പോയി.

26 എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടുഇതെന്തു? ഒരു പുതിയ ഉപദേശം; അവന്‍ അധികാരത്തോടെ അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളോടും കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവ അവനെ അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറങ്ങു തമ്മില്‍ വാദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

27 അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി വേഗത്തില്‍ ഗലീലനോടു എങ്ങും പരന്നു.

28 അനന്തരം അവര്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി യാക്കോബും യോഹന്നാനുമായി ശിമോന്റെയും അന്ത്രെയാസിന്റെയും വീട്ടില്‍ വന്നു.

29 അവിടെ ശിമോന്റെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മ പനിപിടിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്നു; അവര്‍ അവളെക്കുറിച്ചു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

30 അവന്‍ അടുത്തു ചെന്നു അവളെ കൈകൂപിടിച്ചു എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു; പനി അവളെ വിട്ടുമാറി, അവള്‍ അവരെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.

31 വൈകുന്നേരം സൂര്യന്‍ അസ്തമിച്ചശേഷം അവര്‍ സകലവിധദീനക്കാരെയും ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

32 പട്ടണം ഒക്കെയും വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ വന്നു കൂടിയിരുന്നു.

33 നാനവ്യാധികളാല്‍ വലഞ്ഞിരുന്ന അനേകരെ അവന്‍ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി, അനേകം ഭൂതങ്ങളെയും പുറത്താക്കി; ഭൂതങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ അറികകൊണ്ടു സംസാരിപ്പാന്‍ അവയെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.

34 അതികാലത്തു ഇരുട്ടോടെ അവന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഒരു നിര്‍ജ്ജനസ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു.

35 ശിമോനും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു,

36 അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍എല്ലാവരും നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

37 അവന്‍ അവരോടുഞാന്‍ അടുത്ത ഊരുകളിലും പ്രസംഗിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നാം അവിടേക്കു പോക; ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ ഞാന്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38 അങ്ങനെ അവന്‍ ഗലീലയില്‍ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ പള്ളികളില്‍ ചെന്നു പ്രസംഗിക്കയും ഭൂതങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

39 ഒരു കുഷ്ഠരോഗി അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു മുട്ടുകുത്തിനിനക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ എന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

40 യേശു മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ തൊട്ടു

41 മനസ്സുണ്ടു, ശുദ്ധമാക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ ഉടനെ കുഷ്ഠം വിട്ടുമാറി അവന്നു ശുദ്ധിവന്നു.

42 യേശു അവനെ അമര്‍ച്ചയായി ശാസിച്ചു

43 നോകൂ, ആരോടും ഒന്നും പറയരുതു; എന്നാല്‍ ചെന്നു പുരോഹിതന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ കാണിച്ചു, നിന്റെ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി മോശെ കല്പിച്ചതു അവര്‍ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി അര്‍പ്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.

44 അവനോ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വളരെ ഘോഷിപ്പാനും വസ്തുത പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും തുടങ്ങി; അതിനാല്‍ യേശുവിന്നു പരസ്യമായി പട്ടണത്തില്‍ കടപ്പാന്‍ കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ പുറത്തു നിര്‍ജ്ജനസ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു; എല്ലാടത്തു നിന്നും ആളുകള്‍ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു കൂടി.
