1 അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ പുത്രനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ വംശാവലി
2 അബ്രാഹാം യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യിസ്ഹാക്ക്‍ യാക്കോബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യാക്കോബ് യെഹൂദയെയും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
3 യെഹൂദാ താമാരില്‍ പാരെസിനെയും സാരഹിനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; പാരെസ് ഹെസ്രോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
4 ഹെസ്രോന്‍ ആരാമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ആരാം അമ്മീനാദാബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; അമ്മീനാ ദാബ് നഹശോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; നഹശോന്‍ ശല്മോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
5 ശല്മോന്‍ രഹാബില്‍ ബോവസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ബോവസ് രൂത്തില്‍ ഔബേദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഔബേദ് യിശ്ശായിയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
6 യിശ്ശായി ദാവീദ് രാജാവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ദാവീദ്, ഊരീയാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നവളില്‍ ശലോമോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
7 ശലോമോന്‍ രെഹബ്യാമെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; രെഹബ്യാം അബീയാവെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; അബീയാവ് ആസയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
8 ആസാ യോശാഫാത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യോശാഫാത്ത് യോരാമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യോരാം ഉസ്സീയാവെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
9 ഉസ്സീയാവു യോഥാമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യോഥാം ആഹാസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ആഹാസ് ഹിസ്കീയാവെ ജനിപ്പീച്ചു;
10 ഹിസ്കീയാവു മനശ്ശെയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; മനശ്ശെ ആമോസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ആമോസ് യോശിയാവെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
11 യോശിയാവു യെഖൊന്യാവെയും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും ബാബേല്‍പ്രവാസകാലത്തു ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
12 ബാബേല്‍പ്രവാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു യെഖൊന്യാവു ശെയല്തീയേലിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ശെയല്തീയേല്‍ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
13 സെരുബ്ബാബേല്‍ അബീഹൂദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; അബീഹൂദ് എല്യാക്കീമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; എല്യാക്കീം ആസോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
14 ആസോര്‍ സാദോക്കിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; സാദോക്ക്‍ ആഖീമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ആഖീം എലീഹൂദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു;
15 എലീഹൂദ് എലീയാസരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; എലീയാസര്‍ മത്ഥാനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; മത്ഥാന്‍ യാക്കോബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
16 യാക്കോബ് മറിയയുടെ ഭര്‍ത്താവായ യോസേഫിനെ ജനപ്പിച്ചു. അവളില്‍ നിന്നു ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു പേരുള്ള യേശു ജനിച്ചു.
17 ഇങ്ങനെ തലമുറകള്‍ ആകെ അബ്രാഹാം മുതല്‍ ദാവീദുവരെ പതിന്നാലും ദാവീദു മുതല്‍ ബാബേല്‍പ്രവാസത്തോളം പതിന്നാലും ബാബേല്‍പ്രവാസം മുതല്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവിനോളം പതിന്നാലും ആകുന്നു.
18 എന്നാല്‍ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ജനനം ഈ വണ്ണം ആയിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ അമ്മയായ മറിയ യോസേഫിന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടശേഷം അവര്‍ കൂടിവരുമ്മുമ്പെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാല്‍ ഗര്‍ഭിണിയായി എന്നു കണ്ടു.
19 അവളുടെ ഭര്‍ത്താവായ യോസേഫ് നീതിമാനാകകൊണ്ടും അവള്‍ക്കു ലോകാപവാദം വരുത്തുവാന്‍ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടും അവളെ ഗൂഢമായി ഉപേക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചു.
20 ഇങ്ങനെ നിനെച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ അവന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ യോസേഫേ, നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ മറിയയെ ചേര്‍ത്തുകൊള്‍വാന്‍ ശങ്കിക്കേണ്ടാ; അവളില്‍ ഉല്പാദിതമായതു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാല്‍ ആകുന്നു.
21 അവള്‍ ഒരു മകനനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്‍ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു രക്ഷിപ്പാനിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു നീ അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേര്‍ ഇടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 “കന്യക ഗര്‍ഭിണിയായി ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും. അവന്നു ദൈവം നമ്മോടു കൂടെ എന്നര്‍ത്ഥമുള്ള ഇമ്മാനൂവേല്‍ എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിക്കും”
23 എന്നു കര്‍ത്താവു പ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാന്‍ ഇതൊക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചു.
24 യോസേഫ് ഉറക്കം ഉണര്‍ന്നു. കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു, ഭാര്യയെ ചേര്‍ത്തുകൊണ്ടു.
25 മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കുംവരെ അവന്‍ അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല. മകന്നു അവന്‍ യേശു എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിച്ചു.
