1 അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളുടെ സര്‍വ്വസഭയും ഒന്നാം മാസം സീന്‍ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ എത്തി, ജനം കാദേശില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു; അവിടെ വെച്ചു മിര്‍യ്യാം മരിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവളെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

2 ജനത്തിന്നു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ മോശെക്കും അഹരോന്നും വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടം കൂടി.

3 ജനം മേശെയോടു കലഹിച്ചുഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാര്‍ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ മരിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ഞങ്ങളും മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

4 ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇവിടെ കിടന്നു ചാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയുടെ സഭയെ ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തു?

5 ഈ വല്ലാത്ത സ്ഥലത്തു ഞങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇവിടെ വിത്തും അത്തിപ്പഴവും മുന്തിരിപ്പഴവും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഇല്ല; കുടിപ്പാന്‍ വെള്ളവുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6 എന്നാറെ മോശെയും അഹരോനും സഭയുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ നിന്നു സമാഗമന കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു കവിണ്ണുവീണു; യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സു അവര്‍ക്കും പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

7 യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനിന്റെ വടി എടുത്തു നീയും സഹോദരനായ അഹരോനും സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവര്‍ കാണ്‍കെ പാറയോടു കല്പിക്ക.

8 എന്നാല്‍ അതു വെള്ളം തരും; പാറയില്‍ നിന്നു അവര്‍ക്കും വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ജനത്തിന്നും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികള്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

9 തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില്‍നിന്നു വടി എടുത്തു.

10 മോശെയും അഹരോനും പാറയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരോടുമത്സരികളേ, കേള്‍പ്പിന്‍ ; ഈ പാറയില്‍നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11 മോശെ കൈ ഉയര്‍ത്തി വടികൊണ്ടു പാറയെ രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അടിച്ചു; വളരെ വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ജനവും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളും കുടിച്ചു.

12 പിന്നെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടുംനിങ്ങള്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ കാണ്‍കെ എന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്‍ ഈ സഭയെ ഞാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകയില്ല എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13 ഇതു യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ യഹോവയോടു കലഹിച്ചതും അവര്‍ അവരില്‍ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമായ കലഹജലം.

14 അനന്തരം മോശെ കാദേശില്‍നിന്നു എദോംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതുനിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യിസ്രായേല്‍ ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു

15 ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കുണ്ടായ കഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും നീ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍ പോയി ഏറിയ കാലം പാര്‍ത്തുമിസ്രയീമ്യര്‍ ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു.

16 ഞങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള പട്ടണമായ കാദേശില്‍ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

17 ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കേണമേ. ഞങ്ങള്‍ വയലിലോ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലോ കയറുകയില്ല; കിണറ്റിലെവെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല. ഞങ്ങള്‍ രാജപാതയില്‍കൂടി തന്നേ നടക്കും;

18 നിന്റെ അതിര്‍ കഴിയുംവരെ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരികയുമില്ല. എദോം അവനോടുനീ എന്റെ നാട്ടില്‍കൂടി കടക്കരുതുകടന്നാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ വാളുമായി നിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19 അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ അവനോടുഞങ്ങള്‍ പെരുവഴിയില്‍കൂടി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; ഞാനും എന്റെ കന്നുകാലിയും നിന്റെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോയാല്‍ അതിന്റെ വിലതരാം; കാല്‍നടയായി കടന്നു പോകേണമെന്നല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും എനിക്കു വേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ നീ കടന്നുപോകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എദോം ബഹുസൈന്യത്തോടും ബലമുള്ള കയ്യോടുംകൂടെ അവന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

21 ഇങ്ങനെ എദോം തന്റെ അതിരില്‍കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല. യിസ്രായേല്‍ അവനെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

22 പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളുടെ സര്‍വ്വസഭയും കാദേശില്‍നിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു ഹോര്‍ പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍ എത്തി.

23 എദോംദേശത്തിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള ഹോര്‍പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍വെച്ചു യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

24 അഹരോന്‍ തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും; കലഹജലത്തിങ്കല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്റെ കല്പന മറുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ക്കു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു അവന്‍ കടക്കയില്ല.

25 അഹരോനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെയും കൂട്ടി അവരെ ഹോര്‍പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍ കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു

26 അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിക്കേണം; അഹരോന്‍ അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും.

27 യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെ ചെയ്തു; സര്‍വ്വസഭയും കാണ്‍കെ അവര്‍ ഹോര്‍പര്‍വ്വത്തില്‍ കയറി.

28 മോശെ അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു; അഹരോന്‍ അവിടെ പര്‍വ്വതത്തിന്റെ മുകളില്‍വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു; മോശെയും എലെയാസാരും പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി വന്നു. അഹരോന്‍ മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു സഭയെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍ ഗൃഹം ഒക്കെയും അഹരോനെക്കുറിച്ചു മുപ്പതു ദിവസം വിലാപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു

1 Then came ^H935 the children ^H1121 of Israel, ^H3478 even the whole ^H3605 congregation, ^H5712 into the desert ^H4057 of Zin ^H6790 in the first ^H7223 month: ^H2320 and the people ^H5971 abode ^H3427 in Kadesh; ^H6946 and Miriam ^H4813 died ^H4191 there, ^H8033 and was buried ^H6912 there. ^H8033

6 And Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 went ^H935 from the presence ^H4480 ^H6440 of the assembly ^H6951 unto ^H413 the door ^H6607 of the tabernacle ^H168 of the congregation, ^H4150 and they fell ^H5307 upon ^H5921 their faces: ^H6440 and the glory ^H3519 of the LORD ^H3068 appeared ^H7200 unto ^H413 them.

7 And the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 unto ^H413 Moses, ^H4872 saying, ^H559

8 Take ^H3947 ^H853 the rod, ^H4294 and gather thou the assembly together ^H6950 ^H853 ^H5712 , thou, ^H859 and Aaron ^H175 thy brother, ^H251 and speak ^H1696 ye unto ^H413 the rock ^H5553 before their eyes; ^H5869 and it shall give forth ^H5414 his water, ^H4325 and thou shalt bring forth ^H3318 to them water ^H4325 out of ^H4480 the rock: ^H5553 so thou shalt give ^H853 the congregation ^H5712 and their beasts ^H1165 drink. ^H8248

9 And Moses ^H4872 took ^H3947 ^H853 the rod ^H4294 from before ^H4480 ^H6440 the LORD, ^H3068 as ^H834 he commanded ^H6680 him.

10 And Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 gathered the congregation together ^H6950 ^H853 ^H6951 before ^H413 ^H6440 the rock, ^H5553 and he said ^H559 unto them, Hear ^H8085 now, ^H4994 ye rebels; ^H4784 must we fetch ^H3318 you water ^H4325 out of ^H4480 this ^H2088 rock ^H5553 ?

11 And Moses ^H4872 lifted up ^H7311 ^H853 his hand, ^H3027 and with his rod ^H4294 he smote ^H5221 ^H853 the rock ^H5553 twice: ^H6471 and the water ^H4325 came out ^H3318 abundantly, ^H7227 and the congregation ^H5712 drank, ^H8354 and their beasts ^H1165 also .

12 And the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H559 unto ^H413 Moses ^H4872 and Aaron, ^H175 Because ^H3282 ye believed ^H539 me not, ^H3808 to sanctify ^H6942 me in the eyes ^H5869 of the children ^H1121 of Israel, ^H3478 therefore ^H3651 ye shall not ^H3808 bring ^H935 ^H853 this ^H2088 congregation ^H6951 into ^H413 the land ^H776 which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 them.

13 This ^H1992 is the water ^H4325 of Meribah; ^H4809 because ^H834 the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 strove ^H7378 with ^H854 the LORD, ^H3068 and he was sanctified ^H6942 in them.

14 And Moses ^H4872 sent ^H7971 messengers ^H4397 from Kadesh ^H4480 ^H6946 unto ^H413 the king ^H4428 of Edom, ^H123 Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 thy brother ^H251 Israel, ^H3478 Thou ^H859 knowest ^H3045 ^H853 all ^H3605 the travail ^H8513 that ^H834 hath befallen ^H4672 us:

15 How our fathers ^H1 went down ^H3381 into Egypt, ^H4714 and we have dwelt ^H3427 in Egypt ^H4714 a long ^H7227 time; ^H3117 and the Egyptians ^H4714 vexed ^H7489 us , and our fathers: ^H1

16 And when we cried ^H6817 unto ^H413 the LORD, ^H3068 he heard ^H8085 our voice, ^H6963 and sent ^H7971 an angel, ^H4397 and hath brought us forth ^H3318 out of Egypt ^H4480 ^H4714 : and, behold, ^H2009 we ^H587 are in Kadesh, ^H6946 a city ^H5892 in the uttermost ^H7097 of thy border: ^H1366

17 Let us pass, ^H5674 I pray thee, ^H4994 through thy country: ^H776 we will not ^H3808 pass through ^H5674 the fields, ^H7704 or through the vineyards, ^H3754 neither ^H3808 will we drink ^H8354 of the water ^H4325 of the wells: ^H875 we will go ^H1980 by the king's ^H4428 high way, ^H1870 we will not ^H3808 turn ^H5186 to the right hand ^H3225 nor to the left, ^H8040 until ^H5704 ^H834 we have passed ^H5674 thy borders. ^H1366

18 And Edom ^H123 said ^H559 unto ^H413 him , Thou shalt not ^H3808 pass ^H5674 by me, lest ^H6435 I come out ^H3318 against ^H7125 thee with the sword. ^H2719

19 And the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 said ^H559 unto ^H413 him , We will go ^H5927 by the high way: ^H4546 and if ^H518 I ^H589 and my cattle ^H4735 drink ^H8354 of thy water, ^H4325 then I will pay ^H5414 ^H4377 for it : I will only, ^H7535 without ^H369 doing any thing ^H1697 else , go through ^H5674 on my feet. ^H7272

20 And he said, ^H559 Thou shalt not ^H3808 go through. ^H5674 And Edom ^H123 came out ^H3318 against ^H7125 him with much ^H3515 people, ^H5971 and with a strong ^H2389 hand. ^H3027

21 Thus Edom ^H123 refused ^H3985 to give ^H5414 ^H853 Israel ^H3478 passage ^H5674 through his border: ^H1366 wherefore Israel ^H3478 turned away ^H5186 from ^H4480 ^H5921 him.

22 And the children ^H1121 of Israel, ^H3478 even the whole ^H3605 congregation, ^H5712 journeyed ^H5265 from Kadesh ^H4480 ^H6946 , and came ^H935 unto mount ^H2022 Hor. ^H2023

23 And the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H559 unto ^H413 Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 in mount ^H2022 Hor, ^H2023 by ^H5921 the coast ^H1366 of the land ^H776 of Edom, ^H123 saying, ^H559

24 Aaron ^H175 shall be gathered ^H622 unto ^H413 his people: ^H5971 for ^H3588 he shall not ^H3808 enter ^H935 into ^H413 the land ^H776 which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 unto the children ^H1121 of Israel, ^H3478 because ^H5921 ^H834 ye rebelled against ^H4784 ^H853 my word ^H6310 at the water ^H4325 of Meribah. ^H4809

25 Take ^H3947 ^H853 Aaron ^H175 and Eleazar ^H499 his son, ^H1121 and bring them up ^H5927 ^H853 unto mount ^H2022 Hor: ^H2023

26 And strip ^H6584 ^H853 Aaron ^H175 ^H853 of his garments, ^H899 and put them upon ^H3847 ^H853 Eleazar ^H499 his son: ^H1121 and Aaron ^H175 shall be gathered ^H622 unto his people , and shall die ^H4191 there. ^H8033

27 And Moses ^H4872 did ^H6213 as ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 commanded: ^H6680 and they went up ^H5927 into ^H413 mount ^H2022 Hor ^H2023 in the sight ^H5869 of all ^H3605 the congregation. ^H5712

28 And Moses ^H4872 stripped ^H6584 ^H853 Aaron ^H175 ^H853 of his garments, ^H899 and put them upon ^H3847 ^H853 ^H853 Eleazar ^H499 his son; ^H1121 and Aaron ^H175 died ^H4191 there ^H8033 in the top ^H7218 of the mount: ^H2022 and Moses ^H4872 and Eleazar ^H499 came down ^H3381 from ^H4480 the mount. ^H2022
