1 യിസ്രായേല്‍ അഥാരീംവഴിയായി വരുന്നു എന്നു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു വസിച്ചിരുന്ന കനാന്യനായ അരാദ്‍രാജാവു കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങി ചിലരെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

2 അപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു നേര്‍ച്ച നേര്‍ന്നു; ഈ ജനത്തെ നീ എന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങള്‍ ശപഥാര്‍പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3 യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു കനാന്യരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവര്‍ അവരെയും അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും ശപഥാര്‍പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഹോര്‍മ്മാ എന്നു പേരായി.

4 പിന്നെ അവര്‍ എദോംദേശത്തെ ചുറ്റിപ്പോകുവാന്‍ ഹോര്‍പര്‍വ്വതത്തിങ്കല്‍നിന്നു ചെങ്കടല്‍വഴിയായി യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; വഴിനിമിത്തം ജനത്തിന്റെ മനസ്സു ക്ഷീണിച്ചു.

5 ജനം ദൈവത്തിന്നും മോശെക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചുമരുഭൂമിയില്‍ മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇവിടെ അപ്പവുമില്ല, വെള്ളവുമില്ല; ഈ സാരമില്ലാത്ത ആഹാരം ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6 അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ അഗ്നിസര്‍പ്പങ്ങളെ അയച്ചു; അവ ജനത്തെ കടിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില്‍ വളരെ ജനം മരിച്ചു.

7 ആകയാല്‍ ജനം മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു; ഞങ്ങള്‍ യഹോവേക്കും നിനക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചതിനാല്‍ പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സര്‍പ്പങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്‍നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളവാന്‍ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; മോശെ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു.

8 യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഒരു അഗ്നിസര്‍പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല്‍ തൂക്കുക; കടിയേലക്കുന്നവന്‍ ആരെങ്കിലും അതിനെ നോക്കിയാല്‍ ജീവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9 അങ്ങനെ മോശെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു സര്‍പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല്‍ തൂക്കി; പിന്നെ സര്‍പ്പം ആരെയെങ്കിലും കടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന്‍ താമ്രസര്‍പ്പത്തെ നോക്കിയാല്‍ ജീവിക്കും.

10 അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഔബോത്തില്‍ പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

11 ഔബോത്തില്‍നിന്നു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൂര്യോദയത്തിന്നു നേരെ മോവാബിന്റെ കിഴക്കുള്ള മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ ഇയ്യെ-അബാരീമില്‍ പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

12 അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സാരോദ് താഴ്വരയില്‍ പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

13 അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചു മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ കൂടി ഒഴുകുന്ന അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ തോട്ടിന്നക്കരെ പാളയമിറങ്ങി; അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ മോവാബിന്നും അമോര്‍യ്യര്‍ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ മോവാബിന്നുള്ള അതിര്‍ ആകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു

14 “സൂഫയിലെ വാഹേബും അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ താഴ്വരകളും ആരിന്റെ നിവാസത്തോളം നീണ്ടു.

15 മോവാബിന്റെ അതിരോടു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന താഴ്വരച്ചരിവു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധപുസ്തകത്തില്‍ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

16 അവിടെനിന്നു അവര്‍ ബേരിലേക്കു പോയി; യഹോവ മോശെയോടുജനത്തെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടുകഞാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു കല്പിച്ച കിണര്‍ അതു തന്നേ.

17 ആ സമയത്തു യിസ്രായേല്‍“കിണറേ, പൊങ്ങിവാ; അതിന്നു പാടുവിന്‍ .

18 പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്‍ കുഴിച്ച കിണര്‍; ജനശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാര്‍ ചെങ്കോല്‍കൊണ്ടും തങ്ങളുടെ ദണ്ഡുകള്‍കൊണ്ടും കുത്തിയ കിണര്‍ എന്നുള്ള പാട്ടുപാടി.

19 പിന്നെ അവര്‍ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍നിന്നു മത്ഥാനെക്കും മത്ഥാനയില്‍നിന്നു നഹലീയേലിന്നും നഹലീയേലില്‍നിന്നു

20 ബാമോത്തിന്നും ബാമോത്തില്‍നിന്നു മോവാബിന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തുള്ള താഴ്വരയിലേക്കും മരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെയുള്ള പിസ്ഗമുകളിലേക്കും യാത്രചെയ്തു.

21 അവിടെനിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്‍ അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു

22 ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങള്‍ വയലിലെങ്കിലും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെങ്കിലും കയറുകയില്ല, കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല; ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിന്റെ അതിര്‍കഴിയുംവരെ രാജപാതയില്‍കൂടി തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

23 എന്നാല്‍ സീഹോന്‍ തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി യിസ്രായേല്‍ കടന്നുപോവാന്‍ സമ്മതിക്കാതെ തന്റെ ജനത്തെയെല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന്‍ യാഹാസില്‍ വന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

24 യിസ്രായേല്‍ അവനെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലകൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി, അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ മുതല്‍ യബ്ബോക്ക്വരെയും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിര്‍വരെയും ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കി; അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിരോ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു ആയിരുന്നു.

25 ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം യിസ്രായേല്‍ പിടിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്‍ അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും കുടിപാര്‍ത്തു; ഹെശ്ബോനിലും അതിന്റെ സകല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും തന്നേ.

26 ഹെശ്ബോന്‍ അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം ആയിരുന്നു; അവന്‍ മുമ്പിലത്തെ മോവാബ് രാജാവിനോടു പടയെടുത്തു അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ വരെ ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശമൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

27 അതുകൊണ്ടു കവിവരന്മാര്‍ പറയുന്നതു“ഹെശ്ബോനില്‍ വരുവിന്‍ ; സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം പണിതുറപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

28 ഹെശ്ബോനില്‍നിന്നു തീയും സീഹോന്റെ നഗരത്തില്‍നിന്നു ജ്വാലയും പുറപ്പെട്ടു, മോവാബിലെ ആരിനെയും അര്‍ന്നോന്‍ തീരത്തെ ഗിരിനിവാസികളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു.

29 മോവാബേ, നിനക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം! കെമോശിന്റെ ജനമേ, നീ മുടിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന്‍ തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ പലായനത്തിന്നും പുത്രിമാരെ അമോര്‍യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോന്നു അടിമയായും കൊടുത്തു.

30 ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവരെ അമ്പെയ്തു; ദീബോന്‍ വരെ ഹെശ്ബോന്‍ നശിച്ചു; മെദബവരെയുള്ള നോഫയോളം അവരെ ശൂന്യമാക്കി.”

31 ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്‍ അമോര്‍യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു കുടിപാര്‍ത്തു.

32 അനന്തരം മോശെ യസേരിനെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന്‍ ആളയച്ചു; അവര്‍ അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു അവിടെയുള്ള അമോര്‍യ്യരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

33 പിന്നെ അവര്‍ തിരിഞ്ഞു ബാശാന്‍ വഴിയായി പോയി; ബാശാന്‍ രാജാവായ ഔഗ് തന്റെ സകലജനവുമായി അവരുടെനേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു എദ്രെയില്‍വെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

34 അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഅവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; അവനെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഹെശ്ബോനില്‍ പാര്‍ത്ത അമോര്‍യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവനോടും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

35 അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചു, അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

22 Let me pass ^H5674 through thy land: ^H776 we will not ^H3808 turn ^H5186 into the fields, ^H7704 or into the vineyards; ^H3754 we will not ^H3808 drink ^H8354 of the waters ^H4325 of the well: ^H875 but we will go along ^H1980 by the king's ^H4428 high way, ^H1870 until ^H5704 ^H834 we be past ^H5674 thy borders. ^H1366

23 And Sihon ^H5511 would not ^H3808 suffer ^H5414 ^H853 Israel ^H3478 to pass ^H5674 through his border: ^H1366 but Sihon ^H5511 gathered all his people together ^H622 ^H853 ^H3605 ^H5971 , and went out ^H3318 against ^H7125 Israel ^H3478 into the wilderness: ^H4057 and he came ^H935 to Jahaz, ^H3096 and fought ^H3898 against Israel. ^H3478

24 And Israel ^H3478 smote ^H5221 him with the edge ^H6310 of the sword, ^H2719 and possessed ^H3423 ^H853 his land ^H776 from Arnon ^H4480 ^H769 unto ^H5704 Jabbok, ^H2999 even unto ^H5704 the children ^H1121 of Ammon: ^H5983 for ^H3588 the border ^H1366 of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 was strong. ^H5794

25 And Israel ^H3478 took ^H3947 ^H853 all ^H3605 these ^H428 cities: ^H5892 and Israel ^H3478 dwelt ^H3427 in all ^H3605 the cities ^H5892 of the Amorites, ^H567 in Heshbon, ^H2809 and in all ^H3605 the villages ^H1323 thereof.

26 For ^H3588 Heshbon ^H2809 was the city ^H5892 of Sihon ^H5511 the king ^H4428 of the Amorites, ^H567 who ^H1931 had fought ^H3898 against the former ^H7223 king ^H4428 of Moab, ^H4124 and taken ^H3947 ^H853 all ^H3605 his land ^H776 out of his hand ^H4480 ^H3027 , even unto ^H5704 Arnon. ^H769

27 Wherefore ^H5921 ^H3651 they that speak in proverbs ^H4911 say, ^H559 Come ^H935 into Heshbon, ^H2809 let the city ^H5892 of Sihon ^H5511 be built ^H1129 and prepared: ^H3559

28 For ^H3588 there is a fire ^H784 gone out ^H3318 of Heshbon ^H4480 ^H2809 , a flame ^H3852 from the city ^H4480 ^H7151 of Sihon: ^H5511 it hath consumed ^H398 Ar ^H6144 of Moab, ^H4124 and the lords ^H1167 of the high places ^H1116 of Arnon. ^H769

29 Woe ^H188 to thee, Moab ^H4124 ! thou art undone, ^H6 O people ^H5971 of Chemosh: ^H3645 he hath given ^H5414 his sons ^H1121 that escaped, ^H6412 and his daughters, ^H1323 into captivity ^H7628 unto Sihon ^H5511 king ^H4428 of the Amorites. ^H567

30 We have shot ^H3384 at them; Heshbon ^H2809 is perished ^H6 even unto ^H5704 Dibon, ^H1769 and we have laid them waste ^H8074 even unto ^H5704 Nophah, ^H5302 which ^H834 reacheth unto ^H5704 Medeba. ^H4311

31 Thus Israel ^H3478 dwelt ^H3427 in the land ^H776 of the Amorites. ^H567

32 And Moses ^H4872 sent ^H7971 to spy out ^H7270 ^H853 Jaazer, ^H3270 and they took ^H3920 the villages ^H1323 thereof , and drove out ^H3423 ^H853 the Amorites ^H567 that ^H834 were there. ^H8033

33 And they turned ^H6437 and went up ^H5927 by the way ^H1870 of Bashan: ^H1316 and Og ^H5747 the king ^H4428 of Bashan ^H1316 went out ^H3318 against ^H7125 them, he, ^H1931 and all ^H3605 his people, ^H5971 to the battle ^H4421 at Edrei. ^H154

34 And the LORD ^H3068 said ^H559 unto ^H413 Moses, ^H4872 Fear ^H3372 him not: ^H408 for ^H3588 I have delivered ^H5414 him into thy hand, ^H3027 and all ^H3605 his people, ^H5971 and his land; ^H776 and thou shalt do ^H6213 to him as ^H834 thou didst ^H6213 unto Sihon ^H5511 king ^H4428 of the Amorites, ^H567 which ^H834 dwelt ^H3427 at Heshbon. ^H2809

35 So they smote ^H5221 him , and his sons, ^H1121 and all ^H3605 his people, ^H5971 until ^H5704 there was none ^H1115 left ^H7604 him alive: ^H8300 and they possessed ^H3423 ^H853 his land. ^H776
