1 ദാവീദിന്റെ ഒരു ആരോഹണഗീതം. യിസ്രായേല്‍ പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്‍ യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ പക്ഷത്തില്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍,
2 മനുഷ്യര്‍ നമ്മോടു എതിര്‍ത്തപ്പോള്‍, യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ പക്ഷത്തില്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍,
3 അവരുടെ കോപം നമ്മുടെനേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചപ്പോള്‍, അവര്‍ നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയുമായിരുന്നു;
4 വെള്ളം നമ്മെ ഒഴുക്കിക്കളയുമായിരുന്നു, നദി നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണന്നു മീതെ കവിയുമായിരുന്നു;
5 പൊങ്ങിയിരുന്ന വെള്ളം നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണന്നു മീതെ കവിയുമായിരുന്നു.
6 നമ്മെ അവരുടെ പല്ലിന്നു ഇരയായി കൊടുക്കായ്കയാല്‍ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ.
7 വേട്ടക്കാരുടെ കണിയില്‍നിന്നു പക്ഷിയെന്നപോലെ നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണന്‍ വഴുതിപ്പോന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; കണി പൊട്ടി നാം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
8 നമ്മുടെ സഹായം ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
