1 എന്നാല്‍ ബോവസ് പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു; ബോവസ് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്‍ കടന്നുപോകുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎടോ, ഇങ്ങോട്ടു വന്നു ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്‍ ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.
2 പിന്നെ അവന്‍ പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില്‍ പത്തുപേരെ വരുത്തി; ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവരും ഇരുന്നു.
3 അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുമോവാബ് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നൊവൊമി നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരനായ എലീമേലെക്കിന്റെ വയല്‍ വിലക്കുന്നു. ആകയാല്‍ നിന്നോടു അതു അറിയിപ്പാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ വിചാരിച്ചു; ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നീ അതു വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങുക;
4 നിനക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന്‍ മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ വീണ്ടെടുക്ക; വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന്‍ നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഞാന്‍ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടു പറക; നീയും നീ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാനും അല്ലാതെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന്‍ ആരും ഇല്ല.
5 അതിന്നു അവന്‍ ഞാന്‍ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള്‍ ബോവസ്നീ നൊവൊമിയോടു വയല്‍ വാങ്ങുന്ന നാളില്‍ മരിച്ചവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല്‍ അവന്റെ പേര്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തുവാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യ സ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 അതിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്‍ എനിക്കു അതു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന്‍ കഴികയില്ല; എന്റെ സ്വന്ത അവകാശം നഷ്ടമാക്കേണ്ടിവരും; ആകയാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ വീണ്ടെടുക്കേണ്ടതു നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തുകൊള്‍ക; എനിക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന്‍ കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 എന്നാല്‍ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പും കൈമാറ്റവും സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാക്കുവാന്‍ ഒരുത്തന്‍ തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരി മറ്റേവന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നതു യിസ്രായേലില്‍ പണ്ടു നടപ്പായിരുന്നു; ഇതായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലില്‍ ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്ന വിധം.
8 അങ്ങനെ ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്‍ ബോവസിനോടുനീ അതു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്‍ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരിക്കൊടുത്തു.
9 അപ്പോള്‍ ബോവസ് മൂപ്പന്മാരോടും സകല ജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎലീമേലെക്കിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കില്യോന്നും മഹ്ളോന്നും ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഞാന്‍ നൊവൊമിയോടു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള്‍ ആകുന്നു.
10 അത്രയുമല്ല മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര്‍ അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില്‍നിന്നും അവന്റെ പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍നിന്നും മാഞ്ഞുപോകാതവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര്‍ അവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു മഹ്ളോന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നും നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള്‍ ആകുന്നു.
11 അതിന്നു പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ ഇരുന്ന സകലജനവും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങള്‍ സാക്ഷികള്‍ തന്നേ; നിന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീയെ യഹോവ റാഹേലിനെപ്പോലെയും ലേയയെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കട്ടെ; അവര്‍ ഇരുവരുമല്ലോ യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹം പണിതതു; എഫ്രാത്തയില്‍ നീ പ്രബലനും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില്‍ വിശ്രുതനുമായിരിക്ക.
12 ഈ യുവതിയില്‍നിന്നു യഹോവ നിനക്കു നലകുന്ന സന്തതിയാല്‍ നിന്റെ ഗൃഹം താമാര്‍ യെഹൂദെക്കു പ്രസവിച്ച ഫേരെസിന്റെ ഗൃഹം പോലെ ആയ്തീരട്ടെ.
13 ഇങ്ങനെ ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവള്‍ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി; അവന്‍ അവളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ അവള്‍ക്കു ഗര്‍ഭംനല്കി; അവള്‍ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.
14 എന്നാറെ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ നൊവൊമിയോടുഇന്നു നിനക്കു ഒരു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനെ നല്കിയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ ; അവന്റെ പേര്‍ യിസ്രായേലില്‍ വിശ്രുതമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
15 അവന്‍ നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസപ്രദനും നിന്റെ വാര്‍ദ്ധക്യത്തിങ്കല്‍ പോഷകനും ആയിരിക്കും. നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവളും ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാള്‍ നിനക്കു ഉത്തമയുമായിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ മരുമകളല്ലോ അവനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 നൊവൊമി കുഞ്ഞിനെ എടുത്തു മടിയില്‍ കിടത്തി അവന്നു ധാത്രിയായ്തീര്‍ന്നു.
17 അവളുടെ അയല്‍ക്കാരത്തികള്‍നൊവൊമിക്കു ഒരു മകന്‍ ജനിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഔബേദ് എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അപ്പന്‍ ഇവന്‍ തന്നേ.
18 ഫേരെസിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുഫേരെസ് ഹെസ്രോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു. ഹെസ്രോന്‍ രാമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
19 രാം അമ്മീനാദാബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
20 അമ്മീനാദാബ് നഹശോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; നഹശോന്‍ സല്മോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
21 സല്മോന്‍ ബോവസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ബോവസ് ഔബേദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
22 ഔബേദ് യിശ്ശായിയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യിശ്ശായി ദാവീദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

4 And I H589 thought H559 to advertise H1540 H241 thee, saying, H559 Buy H7069 it before H5048 the inhabitants, H3427 and before H5048 the elders H2205 of my people. 5 Then said H559 Boaz, H1162 What day H3117 thou buyest H7069 the field H7704 of the hand H4480 H3027 of Naomi, H5281 thou must buy H7069 it also of H4480 H854 Ruth H7327 the Moabitess, H4125 the wife H802 of the dead, H4191 to raise up H6965 the name H8034 of the dead H4191 upon H5921 his inheritance. 6 And the kinsman H1350 said, H559 I cannot H3808 H3201 redeem H1350 it for myself, lest H6435 I mar H7843 H853 mine own inheritance: H5159 redeem H1350 thou H859 H853 my right H1353 to thyself; for H3588 I cannot H3808 H3201 redeem H1350 it .
7 Now this H2063 was the manner in former time H6440 in Israel H3478 concerning H5921 redeeming H1353 and concerning H5921 changing, H8545 for to confirm H6965 all H3605 things; H1697 a man H376 plucked off H8025 his shoe, H5275 and gave H5414 it to his neighbor: H7453 and this H2063 was a testimony H8584 in Israel. H3478
8 Therefore the kinsman H1350 said H559 unto Boaz, H1162 Buy H7069 it for thee . So he drew off H8025 his shoe. H5275
9 And Boaz H1162 said H559 unto the elders, H2205 and unto all H3605 the people, H5971 Ye H859 are witnesses H5707 this day, H3117 that H3588 I have bought H7069 H853 all H3605 that H834 was Elimelech's H458 , and all H3605 that H834 was Chilion's H3630 and Mahlon's H4248 , of the hand H4480 H3027 of Naomi. 10 Moreover H1571 H853 Ruth H7327 the Moabitess, H4125 the wife H802 of Mahlon, H4248 have I purchased H7069 to be my wife, H802 to raise up H6965 the name H8034 of the dead H4191 upon H5921 his inheritance, H5159 that the name H8034 of the dead H4191 be not H3808 cut off H3772 from among H4480 H5973 his brethren, H251 and from the gate H4480 H8179 of his place: H4725 ye H859 are witnesses H5707 this day. 13 So Boaz H1162 took H3947 H853 Ruth, H7327 and she was H1961 his wife: H802 and when he went H935 in unto H413 her , the LORD H3068 gave H5414 her conception, H2032 and she bore H3205 a son. H1121
14 And the women H802 said H559 unto H413 Naomi, H5281 Blessed H1288 be the LORD, H3068 which H834 hath not H3808 left H7673 thee this day H3117 without a kinsman, H1350 that his name H8034 may be famous H7121 in Israel. H3478
15 And he shall be H1961 unto thee a restorer H7725 of thy life, H5315 and a nourisher H3557 of H853 thine old age: H7872 for H3588 thy daughter- H3618 in-law, which H834 loveth H157 thee, which H834 is better H2896 to thee than seven H4480 H7651 sons, H1121 hath born H3205 him.
16 And Naomi H5281 took H3947 H853 the child, H3206 and laid H7896 it in her bosom, H2436 and became H1961 nurse H539 unto it.
17 And the women her neighbors H7934 gave H7121 it a name, H8034 saying, H559 There is a son H1121 born H3205 to Naomi; H5281 and they called H7121 his name H8034 Obed: H5744 he H1931 is the father H1 of Jesse, H3448 the father H1 of David. H1732
18 Now these H428 are the generations H8435 of Pharez: H6557 Pharez H6557 begot H3205 H853 Hezron, H2696
19 And Hezron H2696 begot H3205 H853 Ram, H7410 and Ram H7410 H853 begot H3205 Amminadab, H5992
20 And Amminadab H5992 begot H3205 H853 Nahshon, H5177 and Nahshon H5177 begot H3205 H853 Salmon, H8009
21 And Salmon H8012 begot H3205 H853 Boaz, H1162 and Boaz H1162 begot H3205 H853 Obed, H5744
22 And Obed H5744 begot H3205 H853 Jesse, H3448 and Jesse H3448 begot H3205 H853 David. H1732
