Jeremiah 34:16 (YLT) Young's Literal Translation

1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah -- and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities -- saying:
2 `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Go, and thou hast spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and hast said unto him, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath burned it with fire,
3 and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.
4 `Only, hear a word of Jehovah, O Zedekiah king of Judah, Thus said Jehovah unto thee: Thou dost not die by sword,
5 in peace thou diest, and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings who have been before thee, so they make a burning for thee; and Ah, lord, they lament for thee, for the word I have spoken -- an affirmation of Jehovah.`
6 And Jeremiah the prophet speaketh unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem,
7 and the forces of the king of Babylon are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that are left -- against Lachish, and against Azekah, for these have been left among the cities of Judah, cities of fortresses.
8 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after the making by the king Zedekiah of a covenant with all the people who are in Jerusalem, to proclaim to them liberty,
9 to send out each his man-servant, and each his maid-servant -- the Hebrew and the Hebrewess -- free, so as not to lay service on them, any on a Jew his brother;
10 and hearken do all the heads, and all the people who have come in to the covenant to send forth each his man-servant and each his maid-servant free, so as not to lay service on them any more, yea, they hearken, and send them away;
11 and they turn afterwards, and cause the men-servants and the maid-servants to return, whom they had sent forth free, and they subdue them for men-servants and for maid-servants.
12 And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
13 `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I -- I made a covenant with your fathers in the day of My bringing them forth from the land of Egypt, from a house of servants, saying,
14 At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.
15 `And ye turn back, ye to-day, and ye do that which is right in Mine eyes, to proclaim liberty each to his neighbour, and ye make a covenant before Me in the house over which My name is called.
16 And -- ye turn back, and pollute My name, and ye cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure,) to return, and ye subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants.
17 `Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbour; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth.
18 `And I have given the men who are transgressing My covenant, who have not established the words of the covenant that they have made before Me, by the calf, that they have cut in two, and pass through between its pieces --
19 heads of Judah, and heads of Jerusalem, the officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land those passing through between the pieces of the calf --
20 yea, I have given them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and their carcase hath been for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth.
21 `And Zedekiah king of Judah, and his heads, I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and into the hand of the forces of the king of Babylon, that are going up from off you.
22 Lo, I am commanding -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and have brought them back unto this city, and they have fought against it, and captured it, and burned it with fire, and the cities of Judah I do make a desolation -- without inhabitant.`

2 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 ; Go H1980 and speak H559 to H413 PREP Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 , and tell H559 him , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Behold H2009 , I will give H5414 VQPMS this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 D-GFS into the hand H3027 B-CFS of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS , and he shall burn H8313 it with fire H784 :
3 And thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt not H3808 NADV escape H4422 out of his hand H3027 M-CFS-3MS , but H3588 CONJ shalt surely be taken H8610 , and delivered H5414 into his hand H3027 ; and thine eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 the eyes H5869 CMD of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS , and he shall speak H1696 VPY3MS with H854 PREP thee mouth H6310 to mouth H6310 CMS-2MS , and thou shalt go H935 to Babylon H894 .
4 Yet H389 ADV hear H8085 VQI2MS the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , O Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 ; Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS of H5921 PREP-2MS thee , Thou shalt not H3808 NADV die H4191 by the sword H2719 :
5 But thou shalt die H4191 VQY2MS in peace H7965 : and with the burnings H4955 of thy fathers H1 , the former H7223 kings H4428 which H834 RPRO were H1961 VQQ3MP before H6440 L-CMP-2MS thee , so H3651 ADV shall they burn H8313 odors for thee ; and they will lament H5594 thee , saying , Ah H1945 lord H113 ! for H3588 CONJ I H589 have pronounced H1696 the word H1697 NMS , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
6 Then Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS all H3605 NMS these H428 D-DPRO-3MP words H1697 AMP unto H413 PREP Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 in Jerusalem H3389 ,
7 When the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS \'s army H2428 fought H3898 against H5921 PREP Jerusalem H3389 , and against H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 that were left H3498 , against H413 PREP Lachish H3923 , and against H413 PREP Azekah H5825 : for H3588 CONJ these H2007 PPRO-3FP defensed H4013 cities H5892 B-CFP remained H7604 of the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 .
8 This is the word H1697 D-NMS that H834 RPRO came H1961 VQQ3MS unto H413 PREP Jeremiah H3414 from PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , after that H310 PREP the king H4428 D-NMS Zedekiah H6667 had made H3772 a covenant H1285 NFS with H854 PREP all H3605 NMS the people H5971 which H834 RPRO were at Jerusalem H3389 , to proclaim H7121 liberty H1865 unto them ;
9 That every man H376 NMS should let his manservant H5650 , and every man H376 NMS his maidservant H8198 , being a Hebrew H5680 D-EMS or a Hebrewess H5680 , go H7971 free H2670 ; that none H1115 L-NPAR should serve H5647 himself of them , to wit , of a Jew H3064 his brother H251 .
10 Now when all H3605 CMS the princes H8269 , and all H3605 W-CMS the people H5971 , which H834 RPRO had entered H935 VQQ3MP into the covenant H1285 , heard H8085 W-VQY3MP that every one H376 NMS should let his manservant H5650 , and every one H376 NMS his maidservant H8198 , go H7971 free H2670 , that none H1115 L-NPAR should serve H5647 themselves of them any more H5750 ADV , then they obeyed H8085 W-VQY3MP , and let them go H7971 .
11 But afterward H310 PREP they turned H7725 , and caused the servants H5650 and the handmaids H8198 , whom H834 RPRO they had let go H7971 free H2670 , to return H7725 , and brought them into subjection H3533 for servants H5650 and for handmaids H8198 .
12 Therefore the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068 EDS , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
13 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 ; I H595 PPRO-1MS made H3772 a covenant H1285 CFS with H854 PREP your fathers H1 in the day H3117 B-NMS that I brought them forth out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , out of the house H1004 of bondmen H5650 NMP , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
14 At the end H7093 M-CMS of seven H7651 MFS years H8141 NFP let ye go H7971 every man H376 NMS his brother H251 CMS-3MS a Hebrew H5680 D-EMS , which H834 RPRO hath been sold H4376 unto thee ; and when he hath served H5647 thee six H8337 RFS years H8141 NFP , thou shalt let him go H7971 free H2670 AMS from thee : but your fathers H1 hearkened H8085 VQQ3MP not H3808 W-NPAR unto H413 PREP-1MS me , neither H3808 W-NPAR inclined H5186 VHQ3MP their ear H241 CFS-3MP .
15 And ye H859 PPRO-2MS were now H3117 D-AMS turned H7725 , and had done H6213 right H3477 in my sight H5869 , in proclaiming H7121 liberty H1865 every man H376 NMS to his neighbor H7453 L-CMS-3MS ; and ye had made H3772 a covenant H1285 CFS before H6440 L-CMP me in the house H1004 which H834 RPRO is called H7121 by H5921 my name H8034 :
16 But ye turned H7725 and polluted H2490 my name H8034 , and caused every man H376 NMS his servant H5650 , and every man H376 NMS his handmaid H8198 , whom H834 RPRO ye had set H7971 at liberty H2670 at their pleasure H5315 , to return H7725 , and brought them into subjection H3533 , to be H1961 L-VQFC unto you for servants H5650 and for handmaids H8198 .
17 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Ye H859 PPRO-2MS have not H3808 ADV hearkened H8085 unto H413 PREP me , in proclaiming H7121 liberty H1865 , every one H376 NMS to his brother H251 , and every man H376 NMS to his neighbor H7453 L-CMS-3MS : behold H2009 , I proclaim H7121 VQPMS a liberty H1865 for you , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , to H413 PREP the sword H2719 D-GFS , to H413 PREP the pestilence H1698 , and to H413 PREP the famine H7458 D-NMS ; and I will make H5414 you to be removed H2189 into all H3605 the kingdoms H4467 of the earth H776 D-GFS .
18 And I will give H5414 the men H376 D-NMP that have transgressed H5674 my covenant H1285 , which H834 RPRO have not H3808 ADV performed H6965 the words H1697 CMP of the covenant H1285 D-NFS which H834 RPRO they had made H3772 before H6440 me , when H834 RPRO they cut H3772 the calf H5695 in twain H8147 , and passed H5674 between H996 PREP the parts H1335 thereof ,
19 The princes H8269 CMP of Judah H3063 , and the princes H8269 of Jerusalem H3389 , the eunuchs H5631 , and the priests H3548 , and all H3605 W-CMS the people H5971 NMS of the land H776 D-GFS , which passed H5674 between H996 PREP the parts H1335 of the calf H5695 ;
20 I will even give H5414 them into the hand H3027 B-CFS of their enemies H341 , and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 their life H5315 CFS-3MP : and their dead bodies H5038 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS for meat H3978 unto the fowls H5775 of the heaven H8064 D-NMD , and to the beasts H929 of the earth H776 D-GFS .
21 And Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 and his princes H8269 CMP-3MS will I give H5414 VQY1MS into the hand H3027 B-CFS of their enemies H341 , and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 their life H5315 CFS-3MP , and into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS \'s army H2428 , which are gone up H5927 from you .
22 Behold H2009 , I will command H6680 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , and cause them to return H7725 to H413 PREP this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 D-GFS ; and they shall fight H3898 against H5921 PREP-3FS it , and take H3920 it , and burn H8313 it with fire H784 : and I will make H5414 VQY1MS the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 a desolation H8077 without H369 an inhabitant H3427 .
