2 അപ്പന്മാര്‍ പച്ചമുന്തിരിങ്ങാ തിന്നു മക്കളുടെ പല്ലു പുളിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍ദേശത്തു ഒരു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു?

3 എന്നാണ, നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇനി യിസ്രായേലില്‍ ഈ പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറവാന്‍ ഇടവരികയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

4 സകല ദേഹികളും എനിക്കുള്ളവര്‍; അപ്പന്റെ പ്രാണനും മകന്റെ പ്രാണനും ഒരുപോലെ എനിക്കുള്ളതു; പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും.

5 എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ നീതിമാനായിരുന്നു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍--

6 പൂജാഗിരികളില്‍വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയോ യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്കയോ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുകയോ ഋതുവായ സ്ത്രീയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെല്ലുകയോ ആരോടും അന്യായം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ

7 കടം വാങ്ങിയവന്നു പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കയും ആരോടും പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാതെ തന്റെ അപ്പം വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

8 പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്കയോ ലാഭം വാങ്ങുകയോ ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കയും നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്‍കയും മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്കും തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യവഹാരത്തില്‍ നേരോടെ വിധിക്കയും

9 എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും എന്റെ ന്യായങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു നേരോടേ നടക്കുന്നവന്‍ നീതിമാന്‍ - അവന്‍ നിശ്ചയമായി ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10 എന്നാല്‍ അവന്നു ഒരു മകന്‍ ജനിച്ചിട്ടു അവന്‍ നിഷ്കണ്ടകനായിരുന്നു രക്തം ചൊരിക, അവയില്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും ചെയ്ക,

11 ചെയ്യേണ്ടതൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്ക, പൂജാഗിരികളില്‍ വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

12 കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക, എളിയവനോടും ദരിദ്രനോടും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്ക, വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക,

13 മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്ക, പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്ക, ലാഭം വാങ്ങുക എന്നീവക ചെയ്യുന്നവനായാല്‍ അവന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ല; അവന്‍ ഈ മ്ളേച്ഛതകളൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവന്‍ മരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രക്തം അവന്റെ മേല്‍ വരും.

14 എന്നാല്‍ അവന്നു ഒരു മകന്‍ ജനിച്ചിട്ടു അവന്‍ തന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളും കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു അങ്ങനെയുള്ളതിനെ ചെയ്യാതെ പര്‍വ്വതങ്ങളില്‍വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

15 യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക, കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക,

16 ആരോടെങ്കിലും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പണയം കൈവശം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, എന്നീവകയൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു അപ്പം കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

17 നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്‍കയും പലിശയും ലാഭവും വാങ്ങാതിരിക്കയും എന്റെ വിധികളെ നടത്തി എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ അവന്‍ അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

18 അവന്റെ അപ്പനോ ക്രൂരപീഡനംചെയ്തു, സഹോദരനോടു പിടിച്ചുപറിച്ചു, തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ കൊള്ളരുതാത്തതു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ അകൃത്യത്താല്‍ മരിക്കും.

19 എന്നാല്‍ മകന്‍ അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ടതല്ലയോ എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ചോദിക്കുന്നു; മകന്‍ നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍, അവന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

20 പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും; മകന്‍ അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ട; അപ്പന്‍ മകന്റെ അകൃത്യവും വഹിക്കേണ്ട; നീതിമാന്റെ നീതി അവന്റെമേലും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത അവന്റെമേലും ഇരിക്കും.

21 എന്നാല്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്‍ താന്‍ ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു, നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍, അവന്‍ മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

22 അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളില്‍ ഔന്നിനെയും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത നീതിയാല്‍ അവന്‍ ജീവിക്കും.

23 ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മരണത്തില്‍ എനിക്കു അല്പമെങ്കിലും താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? അവന്‍ തന്റെ വഴികളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കേണമെന്നല്ലയോ എന്റെ താല്പര്യം എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

24 എന്നാല്‍ നീതിമാന്‍ തന്റെ നീതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു, ദുഷ്ടന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയുംപോലെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില്‍, അവന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത നീതിയൊന്നും കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത ദ്രോഹത്താലും അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത പാപത്താലും അവന്‍ മരിക്കും.

25 എന്നാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹമേ, കേള്‍പ്പിന്‍ ; എന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ലയോ നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള്‍ ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

26 നീതിമാന്‍ തന്റെ നിതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ അവന്‍ അതുനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും; അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത നീതികേടു നിമിത്തം തന്നേ അവന്‍ മരിക്കും.

27 ദുഷ്ടന്‍ താന്‍ ചെയ്ത ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍, അവന്‍ തന്നെത്താന്‍ ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

28 അവന്‍ ഔര്‍ത്തു താന്‍ ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും

29 എന്നാല്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹംകര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹമേ, എന്റെ വഴികള്‍ ചൊവ്വുള്ളവയല്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള്‍ ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

30 അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹമേ, ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളില്‍ ഔരോരുത്തന്നും അവനവന്റെ വഴിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം ന്യായം വിധിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുഅകൃത്യം നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നാശകരമായി ഭവിക്കാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിവിന്‍ .

31 നിങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളില്‍നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞുകളവിന്‍ ; നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പുതിയോരു ഹൃദയത്തെയും പുതിയോരു ആത്മാവിനെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ ; യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹമേ നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്തിനു മരിക്കുന്നു?

32 മരിക്കുന്നവന്റെ മരണത്തില്‍ എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ആകയാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിച്ചുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ .

27 Again , when the wicked ^H7563 man turneth away ^H7725 from his wickedness ^H4480 ^H7564 that ^H834 he hath committed, ^H6213 and doeth ^H6213 that which is lawful ^H4941 and right, ^H6666 he ^H1931 shall save his soul alive ^H2421 ^H853 ^H5315 .

28 Because he considereth, ^H7200 and turneth away ^H7725 from all ^H4480 ^H3605 his transgressions ^H6588 that ^H834 he hath committed, ^H6213 he shall surely live ^H2421 ^H2421 , he shall not ^H3808 die. ^H4191
