1. "'If a person is ordered to tell in court what he has seen or what he knows and he does not tell the court, he is guilty of sin.
1. And if H3588 a soul H5315 sin H2398 , and hear H8085 the voice H6963 of swearing H423 , and is a witness H5707 , whether H176 he hath seen H7200 or H176 known H3045 of it ; if H518 he do not H3808 utter H5046 it , then he shall bear H5375 his iniquity H5771 .
2. "'Or someone might touch something unclean, such as the dead body of an unclean wild animal or an unclean farm animal or an unclean crawling animal. Even if he does not know that he touched it, he will still be unclean and guilty of sin.
2. Or H176 if a soul H5315 touch H5060 any H3605 unclean H2931 thing H1697 , whether H176 it be a carcass H5038 of an unclean H2931 beast H2416 , or H176 a carcass H5038 of unclean H2931 cattle H929 , or H176 the carcass H5038 of unclean H2931 creeping things H8318 , and if it be hidden H5956 from H4480 him; he H1931 also shall be unclean H2931 , and guilty H816 .
3. "'Someone might touch human uncleanness -- anything that makes someone unclean -- and not know it. But when he learns about it, he will be guilty.
3. Or H176 if H3588 he touch H5060 the uncleanness H2932 of man H120 , whatsoever H3605 uncleanness H2932 it be that H834 a man shall be defiled H2930 withal , and it be hid H5956 from H4480 him ; when he H1931 knoweth H3045 of it , then he shall be guilty H816 .
4. "'Or someone might make a promise before the Lord without thinking. It might be a promise to do something bad or something good; it might be about anything. Even if he forgets about it, when he remembers, he will be guilty.
4. Or H176 if H3588 a soul H5315 swear H7650 , pronouncing H981 with his lips H8193 to do evil H7489 , or H176 to do good H3190 , whatsoever H3605 H834 it be that a man H120 shall pronounce H981 with an oath H7621 , and it be hid H5956 from H4480 him ; when he H1931 knoweth H3045 of it , then he shall be guilty H816 in one H259 of these H4480 H428 .
5. "'When anyone is guilty of any of these things, he must tell how he sinned.
5. And it shall be H1961 , when H3588 he shall be guilty H816 in one H259 of these H4480 H428 things , that he shall confess H3034 that H834 he hath sinned H2398 in H5921 that thing :
6. He must bring an offering to the Lord as a penalty for sin; it must be a female lamb or goat from the flock. The priest will perform the acts to remove that person's sin so he will belong to the Lord.
6. And he shall bring H935 H853 his trespass offering H817 unto the LORD H3068 for H5921 his sin H2403 which H834 he hath sinned H2398 , a female H5347 from H4480 the flock H6629 , a lamb H3776 or H176 a kid H8166 of the goats H5795 , for a sin offering H2403 ; and the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 him concerning his sin H4480 H2403 .
7. "'But if the person cannot afford a lamb, he must bring two doves or two young pigeons to the Lord as the penalty for his sin. One bird must be for a sin offering, and the other must be for a whole burnt offering.
7. And if H518 he be not H3808 able to bring H5060 H3027 H1767 a lamb H7716 , then he shall bring H935 H853 for his trespass H817 , which H834 he hath committed H2398 , two H8147 turtledoves H8449 , or H176 two H8147 young H1121 pigeons H3123 , unto the LORD H3068 ; one H259 for a sin offering H2403 , and the other H259 for a burnt offering H5930 .
8. He must bring them to the priest, who will first offer the one for the sin offering. He will pull the bird's head from its neck, but he will not pull it completely off.
8. And he shall bring H935 them unto H413 the priest H3548 , who shall offer H7126 H853 that which H834 is for the sin offering H2403 first H7223 , and wring off H4454 H853 his head H7218 from H4480 H4136 his neck H6203 , but shall not H3808 divide it asunder H914 :
9. He must sprinkle the blood from the sin offering on the side of the altar, and then he must pour the rest of the blood at the bottom of the altar; it is a sin offering.
9. And he shall sprinkle H5137 of the blood H4480 H1818 of the sin offering H2403 upon H5921 the side H7023 of the altar H4196 ; and the rest H7604 of the blood H1818 shall be wrung out H4680 at H413 the bottom H3247 of the altar H4196 : it H1931 is a sin offering H2403 .
10. Then the priest must offer the second bird as a whole burnt offering, as the law says. In this way the priest will remove the person's sin so he will belong to the Lord, and the Lord will forgive him.
10. And he shall offer H6213 the second H8145 for a burnt offering H5930 , according to the manner H4941 : and the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 him for his sin H4480 H2403 which H834 he hath sinned H2398 , and it shall be forgiven H5545 him.
11. "'If the person cannot afford two doves or two pigeons, he must bring about two quarts of fine flour as an offering for sin. He must not put oil or incense on the flour, because it is a sin offering.
11. But if H518 he be not H3808 able to bring H5381 H3027 two H8147 turtledoves H8449 , or H176 two H8147 young H1121 pigeons H3123 , then he that H834 sinned H2398 shall bring H935 H853 for his offering H7133 the tenth part H6224 of an ephah H374 of fine flour H5560 for a sin offering H2403 ; he shall put H7760 no H3808 oil H8081 upon H5921 it, neither H3808 shall he put H5414 any frankincense H3828 thereon H5921 : for H3588 it H1931 is a sin offering H2403 .
12. He must bring the flour to the priest. The priest will take a handful of the flour as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar on top of the offerings made by fire to the Lord; it is a sin offering.
12. Then shall he bring H935 it to H413 the priest H3548 , and the priest H3548 shall take H7061 his handful H4393 H7062 of H4480 it, even H853 a memorial H234 thereof , and burn H6999 it on the altar H4196 , according to H5921 the offerings made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 : it H1931 is a sin offering H2403 .
13. In this way the priest will remove the person's sins so he will belong to the Lord, and the Lord will forgive him. What is left of the sin offering belongs to the priest, like the grain offering.'"
13. And the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 him as touching H5921 his sin H2403 that H834 he hath sinned H2398 in one H4480 H259 of these H4480 H428 , and it shall be forgiven H5545 him : and the remnant shall be H1961 the priest H3548 's , as a meat offering H4503 .
14. The Lord said to Moses,
14. And the LORD H3068 spoke H1696 unto H413 Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
15. "If a person accidentally sins and does something against the holy things of the Lord, he must bring from the flock a male sheep that has nothing wrong with it. This will be his penalty offering to the Lord. Its value in silver must be correct as set by the Holy Place measure. It is a penalty offering.
15. If H3588 a soul H5315 commit H4603 a trespass H4604 , and sin H2398 through ignorance H7684 , in H4480 the holy things H6944 of the LORD H3068 ; then he shall bring H935 H853 for his trespass H817 unto the LORD H3068 a ram H352 without blemish H8549 out of H4480 the flocks H6629 , with thy estimation H6187 by shekels H8255 of silver H3701 , after the shekel H8255 of the sanctuary H6944 , for a trespass offering H817 :
16. That person must pay for the sin he did against the holy thing, adding one-fifth to its value. Then he must give it all to the priest. In this way the priest will remove the person's sin so he will belong to the Lord, by using the male sheep as the penalty offering. And the Lord will forgive the person.
16. And he shall make amends H7999 for the harm that he hath done H834 H2398 in H4480 the holy thing H6944 , and shall add H3254 the fifth part H2549 thereto H5921 , and give H5414 it unto the priest H3548 : and the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 him with the ram H352 of the trespass offering H817 , and it shall be forgiven H5545 him.
17. "If a person sins and does something the Lord has commanded not to be done, even if he does not know it, he is still guilty. He is responsible for his sin.
17. And if H518 a soul H5315 sin H2398 , and commit H6213 any H259 of these things H4480 H3605 which H834 are forbidden H3808 to be done H6213 by the commandments H4687 of the LORD H3068 ; though he knew H3045 it not H3808 , yet is he guilty H816 , and shall bear H5375 his iniquity H5771 .
18. He must bring the priest a male sheep from the flock, one that has nothing wrong with it and that is worth the correct amount. It will be a penalty offering. Though the person sinned without knowing it, with this offering the priest will remove the sin so the person will belong to the Lord, and the Lord will forgive him.
18. And he shall bring H935 a ram H352 without blemish H8549 out of H4480 the flock H6629 , with thy estimation H6187 , for a trespass offering H817 , unto H413 the priest H3548 : and the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 him concerning H5921 his ignorance H7684 wherein H834 he erred H7683 and knew H3045 it not H3808 , and it shall be forgiven H5545 him.
19. The person is guilty of doing wrong, so he must give the penalty offering to the Lord."
19. It H1931 is a trespass offering H817 : he hath certainly trespassed H816 H816 against the LORD H3068 .
