1. Then the Lord said to Moses:

|
|
2. "On the first day of the first month, set up the Holy Tent, which is the Meeting Tent.
|
2. On the first day H3117 H259 H2320 of the first H7223 month H2320 shalt thou set up H6965 H853 the tabernacle H4908 of the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 .
|
|
3. Put the Ark of the Agreement in it and hang the curtain in front of the Ark.
|
3. And thou shalt put H7760 therein H8033 H853 the ark H727 of the testimony H5715 , and cover H5526 H5921 the ark H727 with H854 the veil H6532 .
|
|
4. Bring in the table and arrange everything on the table that should be there. Then bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.
|
4. And thou shalt bring in H935 H853 the table H7979 , and set in order H6186 H853 the things that are to be set in order H6187 upon it ; and thou shalt bring in H935 H853 the candlestick H4501 , and light H5927 H853 the lamps H5216 thereof.

|
5. Put the gold altar for burning incense in front of the Ark of the Agreement, and put the curtain at the entrance to the Holy Tent.
|
5. And thou shalt set H5414 H853 the altar H4196 of gold H2091 for the incense H7004 before H6440 the ark H727 of the testimony H5715 , and put H7760 H853 the hanging H4539 of the door H6607 to the tabernacle H4908 .
|
|
6. "Put the altar of burnt offerings in front of the entrance of the Holy Tent, the Meeting Tent.
|
6. And thou shalt set H5414 H853 the altar H4196 of the burnt offering H5930 before H6440 the door H6607 of the tabernacle H4908 of the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 .
|
|
7. Put the bowl between the Meeting Tent and the altar, and put water in it.
|
7. And thou shalt set H5414 H853 the laver H3595 between H996 the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 and the altar H4196 , and shalt put H5414 water H4325 therein H8033 .
|
|
8. Set up the courtyard around the Holy Tent, and put the curtain at the entry to the courtyard.
|
8. And thou shalt set up H7760 H853 the court H2691 round about H5439 , and hang up H5414 H853 the hanging H4539 at the court H2691 gate H8179 .
|
|
9. "Use the special olive oil and pour it on the Holy Tent and everything in it, in order to give the Tent and all that is in it for service to the Lord. They will be holy.
|
9. And thou shalt take H3947 H853 the anointing H4888 oil H8081 , and anoint H4886 H853 the tabernacle H4908 , and all H3605 that H834 is therein , and shalt hallow H6942 it , and all H3605 the vessels H3627 thereof : and it shall be H1961 holy H6944 .

|
10. Pour the special oil on the altar for burnt offerings and on all its tools. Give the altar for service to God, and it will be very holy.
|
10. And thou shalt anoint H4886 H853 the altar H4196 of the burnt offering H5930 , and all H3605 his vessels H3627 , and sanctify H6942 H853 the altar H4196 : and it shall be H1961 an altar H4196 most holy H6944 H6944 .
|
|
11. Then pour the special olive oil on the bowl and the base under it so that they will be given for service to God.
|
11. And thou shalt anoint H4886 H853 the laver H3595 and his foot H3653 , and sanctify H6942 it.
|
|
12. "Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Meeting Tent, and wash them with water.
|
12. And thou shalt bring H7126 H853 Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 unto H413 the door H6607 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 , and wash H7364 them with water H4325 .
|
|
13. Then put the holy clothes on Aaron. Pour the special oil on him, and give him for service to God so that he may serve me as a priest.
|
13. And thou shalt put upon H3847 H853 Aaron H175 the H853 holy H6944 garments H899 , and anoint H4886 him , and sanctify H6942 him ; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office H3547 .
|
|
14. Bring Aaron's sons and put the inner robes on them.
|
14. And thou shalt bring H7126 his sons H1121 , and clothe H3847 them with coats H3801 :
|
|
15. Pour the special oil on them in the same way that you appointed their father as priest so that they may also serve me as priests. Pouring oil on them will make them a family of priests, they and their descendants from now on."
|
15. And thou shalt anoint H4886 them, as H834 thou didst anoint H4886 H853 their father H1 , that they may minister unto me in the priest's office H3547 : for their anointing H4886 shall surely be H1961 H1961 an everlasting H5769 priesthood H3550 throughout their generations H1755 .

|
16. Moses did everything that the Lord commanded him.
|
16. Thus did H6213 Moses H4872 : according to all H3605 that H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 him, so H3651 did H6213 he.
|
|
17. So the Holy Tent was set up on the first day of the first month during the second year after they left Egypt.
|
17. And it came to pass H1961 in the first H7223 month H2320 in the second H8145 year H8141 , on the first H259 day of the month H2320 , that the tabernacle H4908 was reared up H6965 .
|
|
18. When Moses set up the Holy Tent, he put the bases in place, and he put the frames on the bases. Next he put the crossbars through the rings of the frames and set up the posts.
|
18. And Moses H4872 reared up H6965 H853 the tabernacle H4908 , and fastened H5414 H853 his sockets H134 , and set up H7760 H853 the boards H7175 thereof , and put in H5414 H853 the bars H1280 thereof , and reared up H6965 H853 his pillars H5982 .
|
|
19. After that, Moses spread the cloth over the Holy Tent and put the covering over it, just as the Lord commanded.
|
19. And he spread abroad H6566 H853 the tent H168 over H5921 the tabernacle H4908 , and put H7760 H853 the covering H4372 of the tent H168 above H4480 H4605 upon H5921 it; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
|
|
20. Moses put the stone tablets that had the Agreement written on them into the Ark. He put the poles through the rings of the Ark and put the lid on it.
|
20. And he took H3947 and put H5414 H853 the testimony H5715 into H413 the ark H727 , and set H7760 H853 the staves H905 on H5921 the ark H727 , and put H5414 H853 the mercy seat H3727 above H4480 H4605 upon H5921 the ark H727 :
|
|
21. Next he brought the Ark into the Tent and hung the curtain to cover the Ark, just as the Lord commanded him.
|
21. And he brought H935 H853 the ark H727 into H413 the tabernacle H4908 , and set up H7760 H853 the veil H6532 of the covering H4539 , and covered H5526 H5921 the ark H727 of the testimony H5715 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .

22. Moses put the table in the Meeting Tent on the north side of the Holy Tent in front of the curtain.
|
22. And he put H5414 H853 the table H7979 in the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , upon H5921 the side H3409 of the tabernacle H4908 northward H6828 , without H4480 H2351 the veil H6532 .
|
|
23. Then he put the bread on the table before the Lord, just as the Lord commanded him.
|
23. And he set H6186 the bread H3899 in order H6187 upon H5921 it before H6440 the LORD H3068 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 had commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
|
|
24. Moses put the lampstand in the Meeting Tent on the south side of the Holy Tent across from the table.
|
24. And he put H7760 H853 the candlestick H4501 in the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , over against H5227 the table H7979 , on H5921 the side H3409 of the tabernacle H4908 southward H5045 .
|
|
25. Then he put the lamps on the lampstand before the Lord, just as the Lord commanded him.
|
25. And he lighted H5927 the lamps H5216 before H6440 the LORD H3068 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
|
|
26. Moses put the gold altar for burning incense in the Meeting Tent in front of the curtain.
|
26. And he put H7760 H853 the golden H2091 altar H4196 in the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 before H6440 the veil H6532 :
|
|
27. Then he burned sweet-smelling incense on it, just as the Lord commanded him.
|
27. And he burnt H6999 sweet H5561 incense H7004 thereon H5921 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
|
|
28. Then he hung the curtain at the entrance to the Holy Tent.
|
28. And he set up H7760 H853 the hanging H4539 at the door H6607 of the tabernacle H4908 .
|
|
29. He put the altar for burnt offerings at the entrance to the Holy Tent, the Meeting Tent, and offered a whole burnt offering and grain offerings on it, just as the Lord commanded him.
|
29. And he put H7760 the altar H4196 of burnt offering H5930 by the door H6607 of the tabernacle H4908 of the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , and offered H5927 upon H5921 it H853 the burnt offering H5930 and the meat offering H4503 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .

30. Moses put the bowl between the Meeting Tent and the altar for burnt offerings, and he put water in it for washing.
|
30. And he set H7760 H853 the laver H3595 between H996 the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 and the altar H4196 , and put H5414 water H4325 there H8033 , to wash H7364 withal .
|
|
31. Moses, Aaron, and Aaron's sons used this water to wash their hands and feet.
|
31. And Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 washed H7364 H853 their hands H3027 and their feet H7272 thereat H4480 :
|
|
32. They washed themselves every time they entered the Meeting Tent and every time they went near the altar for burnt offerings, just as the Lord commanded Moses.
|
32. When they went H935 into H413 the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , and when they came near H7126 unto H413 the altar H4196 , they washed H7364 ; as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 .
|
|
33. Then Moses set up the courtyard around the Holy Tent and the altar, and he put up the curtain at the entry to the courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
|
33. And he reared up H6965 H853 the court H2691 round about H5439 the tabernacle H4908 and the altar H4196 , and set up H5414 H853 the hanging H4539 of the court H2691 gate H8179 . So Moses H4872 finished H3615 H853 the work H4399 .
|
|
34. Then the cloud covered the Meeting Tent, and the glory of the Lord filled the Holy Tent.
|
34. Then a cloud H6051 covered H3680 H853 the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , and the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 filled H4390 H853 the tabernacle H4908 .
|
|
35. Moses could not enter the Meeting Tent, because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the Holy Tent.
|
35. And Moses H4872 was not H3808 able H3201 to enter H935 into H413 the tent H168 of the congregation H4150 , because H3588 the cloud H6051 abode H7931 thereon H5921 , and the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 filled H4390 H853 the tabernacle H4908 .
|
|
36. When the cloud rose from the Holy Tent, the Israelites would begin to travel,
|
36. And when the cloud H6051 was taken up H5927 from over H4480 H5921 the tabernacle H4908 , the children H1121 of Israel H3478 went onward H5265 in all H3605 their journeys H4550 :
|
|
37. but as long as the cloud stayed on the Holy Tent, they did not travel. They stayed in that place until the cloud rose.
|
37. But if H518 the cloud H6051 were not H3808 taken up H5927 , then they journeyed H5265 not H3808 till H5704 the day H3117 that it was taken up H5927 .
|
|
38. So the cloud of the Lord was over the Holy Tent during the day, and there was a fire in the cloud at night. So all the Israelites could see the cloud while they traveled.
|
38. For H3588 the cloud H6051 of the LORD H3068 was upon H5921 the tabernacle H4908 by day H3119 , and fire H784 was H1961 on it by night H3915 , in the sight H5869 of all H3605 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , throughout all H3605 their journeys H4550 .
