1 जब योशिय्याह राज्य करने लगा तब वह आठ वर्ष का था, और यरूशलेम में इकतीस वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा।

2 उसने वह किया जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में ठीक है, और जिन मार्गों पर उसका मूलपुरुष दाऊद चलता रहा, उन्हीं पर वह भी चला करता था और उस से न तो दाहिनी ओर मुड़ा, और न बाईं ओर।

3 वह लड़का ही था, अर्थात उसको गद्दी पर बैठे आठ वर्ष पूरे भी न हुए थे कि अपने मूलपुरुष दाऊद के परमेश्वर की खोज करने लगा, और बारहवें वर्ष में वह ऊंचे स्थानों और अशेरा नाम मूरतों को और खुदी और ढली हुई मूरतों को दूर कर के, यहूदा और यरूशलेम को शुद्ध करने लगा।

4 और बाल देवताओं की वेदियां उसके साम्हने तोड़ डाली गई, और सूर्य की प्रतिमायें जो उनके ऊपर ऊंचे पर थी, उसने काट डालीं, और अशेरा नाम, और खुदी और ढली हुई मूरतों को उसने तोड़ कर पीस डाला, और उनकी बुकनी उन लोगों की कबरों पर छितरा दी, जो उन को बलि चढ़ाते थे।

5 और पुजारियों की हड्डियां उसने उन्हीं की वेदियों पर जलाईं। यों उसने यहूदा और यरूशलेम को शुद्ध किया।

8 फिर अपने राज्य के अठारहवें वर्ष में जब वह देश और भवन दोनों को शुद्ध कर चुका, तब उसने असल्याह के पुत्र शापान और नगर के हाकिम मासेयाह और योआहाज के पुत्र इतिहास के लेखक योआह को अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के भवन की मरम्मत कराने के लिये भेज दिया।

9 सो उन्होंने हिल्किय्याह महायाजक के पास जा कर जो रुपया परमेश्वर के भवन में लाया गया था, अर्थात जो लेवीय दरबानों ने मनश्शियों, एप्रैमियों और सब बचे हुए इस्राएलियों से और सब यहूदियों और बिन्यामीनियों से और यरूशलेम के निवासियों के हाथ से ले कर इकट्ठा किया था, उसको सौंप दिया।

10 अर्थात उन्होंने उसे उन काम करने वालों के हाथ सौंप दिया जो यहोवा के भवन के काम पर मुखिये थे, और यहोवा के भवन के उन काम करने वालों ने उसे भवन में जो कुछ टूटा फूटा था, उसकी मरम्मत करने में लगाया।

11 अर्थात उन्होंने उसे बढ़इयों और राजों को दिया कि वे गढ़े हुए पत्थर और जोड़ों के लिये लकड़ी मोल लें, और उन घरों को पाटें जो यहूदा के राजाओं ने नाश कर दिए थे।

12 और वे मनुष्य सच्चाई से काम करते थे, और उनके अधिकारी मरारीय, यहत और ओबद्याह, लेवीय और कहाती, जकर्याह और मशुल्लाम काम चलाने वाले और गाने-बजाने का भेद सब जानने वाले लेवीय भी थे।

13 फिर वे बोझियों के अधिकारी थे और भांति भांति की सेवकाई और काम चलाने वाले थे, और कुछ लेवीय मुंशी सरदार और दरबान थे।

14 जब वे उस रुपये को जो यहोवा के भवन में पहुंचाया गया था, निकाल रहे थे, तब हिल्किय्याह याजक को मूसा के द्वारा दी हुई यहोवा की व्यवस्था की पुस्तक मिली।

15 तब हिल्किय्याह ने शापान मंत्री से कहा, मुझे यहोवा के भवन में व्यवस्था की पुस्तक मिली है; तब हिल्किय्याह ने शापान को वह पुस्तक दी।

16 तब शापान उस पुस्तक को राजा के पास ले गया, और यह सन्देश दिया, कि जो जो काम तेरे कर्मचारियों को सौंपा गया था उसे वे कर रहे हैं।

17 और जो रुपया यहोवा के भवन में मिला, उसको उन्होंने उण्डेल कर मुखियों और कारीगरों के हाथों में सौंप दिया है।

18 फिर शापान मंत्री ने राजा को यह भी बता दिया कि हिल्किय्याह याजक ने मुझे एक पुस्तक दी है तब शपान ने उस में से राजा को पढ़ कर सुनाया।

19 व्यवस्था की वे बातें सुन कर राजा ने अपने वस्त्र फाढ़े।

20 फिर राजा ने हिल्किय्याह शापान के पुत्र अहीकाम, मीका के पुत्र अब्दोन, शापान मंत्री और असायाह नाम अपने कर्मचारी को आज्ञा दी,

21 कि तुम जा कर मेरी ओर से और इस्राएल और यहूदा में रहने वालों की ओर से इस पाई हुई पुस्तक के वचनों के विष्य यहोवा से पूछो; क्योंकि यहोवा की बड़ी ही जलजलाहट हम पर इसलिये भड़की है कि हमारे पुरखाओं ने यहोवा का वचन नहीं माना, और इस पुस्तक में लिखी हुई सब आज्ञाओं का पालन नहीं किया।

22 तब हिल्कय्याह ने राजा के और और दूतों समेत हुल्दा नबिया के पास जा कर उस से उसी बात के अनुसार बातें की, वह तो उस शल्लूम की स्त्री थी जो तोखत का पुत्र और हस्रा का पोता और वस्त्रालय का रखवाला था: और वह स्त्री यरूशलेम के नये टोले में रहती थी।

23 उसने उन से कहा, इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, कि जिस पुरुष ने तुम को मेरे पास भेजा, उस से यह कहो,

24 कि यहोवा यों कहता है, कि सुन, मैं इस स्थान और इस के निवासियों पर विपत्ति डाल कर यहूदा के राजा के साम्हने जो पुस्तक पड़ी गई, उस में जितने शाप लिखे हैं उन सभों को पूरा करूंगा।

25 उन लोगों ने मुझे त्याग कर पराये देवताओं के लिये धूप जलाया है और अपनी बनाईं हुई सब वस्तुओं के द्वारा मुझे रिस दिलाई है, इस कारण मेरी जलजलाहट इस स्थान पर भड़क उठी है, और शान्त न होगी।

26 परन्तु यहूदा का राजा जिसने तुम्हें यहोवा के पूछने को भेज दिया है उस से तुम यों कहो, कि इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है,

27 कि इसलिये कि तू वे बातें सुन कर दीन हुआ, और परमेश्वर के साम्हने अपना सिर नवाया, और उसकी बातें सुन कर जो उसने इस स्थान और इस के निवासियों के विरुद्ध कहीं, तू ने मेरे साम्हने अपना सिर नवाया, और वस्त्र फाड़ कर मेरे साम्हने रोया है, इस कारण मैं ने तेरी सुनी है; यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

28 सुन, मैं तुझे तेरे पुरखाओं के संग ऐसा मिलाऊंगा कि तू शांति से अपनी कब्र को पहुंचाया जायगा; और जो विपत्ति मैं इस स्थान पर, और इसके निवासियों पर डालना चाहता हूँ, उस में से तुझे अपनी आंखों से कुछ भी देखना न पड़ेगा। तब उन लोगों ने लौट कर राजा को यही सन्देश दिया।

29 तब राजा ने यहूदा और यरूशलेम के सब पुरनियों को इकट्ठे होने को बुलवा भेजा।

30 और राजा यहूदा के सब लोगों और यरूशलेम के सब निवासियों और याजकों और लेवियों वरन छोटे बड़े सारी प्रजा के लोगों को संग ले कर यहोवा के भवन को गया; तब उस न जो वाचा की पुस्तक यहोवा के भवन में मिली थी उस में की सारी बातें उन को पढ़ कर सुनाईं।

31 तब राजा ने अपने स्थान पर खड़ा हो कर, यहोवा से इस आशय की वाचा बान्धी कि मैं यहोवा के पीछे पीछे चलूंगा, और अपने पूर्ण मन और पूर्ण जीव से उसकी आज्ञाएं, चितौनियों और विधियों का पालन करूंगा, और इन वाचा की बातों को जो इस पुस्तक में लिखी हैं, पूरी करूंगा।

32 और उसने उन सभों से जो यरूशलेम में और बिन्यामीन में थे वैसी ही वाचा बन्धाई। और यरूशलेम के निवासी, परमेश्वर जो उनके पितरों का परमेश्वर था, उसकी वाचा के अनुसार करने लगे।

33 और योशिय्याह ने इस्राएलियों के सब देशों में से सब घिनौनी वस्तुओं को दूर कर के जितने इस्राएल में मिले, उन सभों से उपासना कराई; अर्थात उनके परमेश्वर यहोवा की उपासना कराई। और उसके जीवन भर उन्होंने अपने पूवजों के परमेश्वर यहोवा के पीछे चलना न छोड़ा।

14 And when they brought out ^H3318 the money ^H3701 that was brought into ^H935 the house ^H1004 ^CMS of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , Hilkiah ^H2518 the priest ^H3548 found ^H4672 ^VQPMS a book ^H5612 ^CMS of the law ^H8451 of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS given by ^H3027 ^B-CFS Moses ^H4872 .

15 And Hilkiah ^H2518 answered ^H6030 ^W-VQY3MS and said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS to ^H413 ^PREP Shaphan ^H8227 the scribe ^H5608 , I have found ^H4672 ^VQQ1MS the book ^H5612 ^CMS of the law ^H8451 in the house ^H1004 ^B-CMS of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS . And Hilkiah ^H2518 delivered ^H5414 ^W-VQQ3MS the book ^H5612 to ^H413 ^PREP Shaphan ^H8227 .

16 And Shaphan ^H8227 carried ^H935 ^W-VHY3MS the book ^H5612 to ^H413 ^PREP the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS , and brought ^H7725 ^W-VHY3MS the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS word ^H1697 ^VQPMS back again ^H5750 ^ADV , saying ^H559 ^L-VQFC , All ^H3605 ^NMS that ^H834 ^RPRO was committed ^H5414 to thy servants ^H3027 ^B-CFS , they ^H1992 ^PPRO-3MP do ^H6213 it .

18 Then Shaphan ^H8227 the scribe ^H5608 told ^H5046 ^W-VHY3MS the king ^H4428 , saying ^H559 ^L-VQFC , Hilkiah ^H2518 the priest ^H3548 hath given ^H5414 ^VQQ3MS me a book ^H5612 ^CMS . And Shaphan ^H8227 read ^H7121 ^W-VQY3MS it before ^H6440 ^L-CMP the king ^H4428 .

19 And it came to pass ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS , when the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS had heard ^H8085 the words ^H1697 ^CMP of the law ^H8451 , that he rent ^H7167 ^W-VQY3MS his clothes ^H899 .

22 And Hilkiah ^H2518 , and they that ^H834 ^W-RPRO the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS had appointed , went ^H1980 ^W-VQY3MS to ^H413 ^PREP Huldah ^H2468 the prophetess ^H5031 , the wife ^H802 ^CFS of Shallum ^H7967 the son ^H1121 of Tikvath ^H8616 , the son ^H1121 of Hasrah ^H2641 , keeper ^H8104 of the wardrobe ^H899 ; (now she ^H1931 dwelt ^H3427 in Jerusalem ^H3389 in the college ^H4932 : ) and they spoke ^H1696 ^W-VPY3MP to ^H413 ^PREP her to that ^H2063 effect .

23 And she answered ^H559 ^W-VQY3FS them , Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 , Tell ^H559 ye the man ^H376 ^LD-NMS that ^H834 ^RPRO sent ^H7971 ^VQQ3MS you to ^H413 me ,

24 Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , Behold ^H2009 , I will bring ^H935 ^VHPMS evil ^H7451 ^AFS upon ^H5921 ^PREP this ^H2088 ^D-PMS place ^H4725 ^D-NMS , and upon ^H5921 ^PREP the inhabitants ^H3427 thereof , even all ^H3605 ^NMS the curses ^H423 that are written ^H3789 in ^H5921 ^PREP the book ^H5612 which ^H834 ^RPRO they have read ^H7121 before ^H6440 ^L-CMP the king ^H4428 ^NMS of Judah ^H3063 :

25 Because ^H8478 ^NMS they have forsaken ^H5800 me , and have burned incense ^H6999 unto other ^H312 ^AMP gods ^H430 ^L-NMP , that ^H4616 ^L-CONJ they might provoke me to anger ^H3707 with all ^H3605 the works ^H4639 of their hands ^H3027 ^CFD-3MP ; therefore my wrath ^H2534 shall be poured out ^H5413 upon this ^H2088 ^D-PMS place ^H4725 , and shall not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR be quenched ^H3518 .

26 And as for ^H413 ^W-PREP the king ^H4428 ^NMS of Judah ^H3063 , who sent ^H7971 you to inquire ^H1875 of the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS , so ^H3541 shall ye say ^H559 ^VQY2MP unto ^H413 ^PREP-3MS him , Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 concerning the words ^H1697 ^AMP which ^H834 ^RPRO thou hast heard ^H8085 ;

27 Because ^H3282 ^ADV thine heart ^H3824 was tender ^H7401 , and thou didst humble thyself ^H3665 before ^H6440 ^ML-CMP God ^H430 ^EDP , when thou heardest ^H8085 ^VQQ1MS his words ^H1697 ^CMP-3MS against ^H5921 ^PREP this ^H2088 ^D-PMS place ^H4725 ^D-NMS , and against ^H5921 ^PREP the inhabitants ^H3427 thereof , and humbledst thyself ^H3665 before ^H6440 ^L-CMP me , and didst rend ^H7167 thy clothes ^H899 ^CMP-2MS , and weep ^H1058 before ^H6440 me ; I ^H589 ^PPRO-1MS have even heard ^H8085 ^VQQ1MS thee also ^H1571 ^W-CONJ , saith ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS .

28 Behold ^H2009 , I will gather ^H622 thee to ^H413 ^PREP thy fathers ^H1 , and thou shalt be gathered ^H622 to ^H413 ^PREP thy grave ^H6913 in peace ^H7965 , neither ^H3808 ^W-NPAR shall thine eyes ^H5869 ^CMD-2MS see ^H7200 all ^H3605 the evil ^H7451 ^D-AFS that ^H834 ^RPRO I ^H589 ^PPRO-1MS will bring ^H935 ^VHPMS upon ^H5921 ^PREP this ^H2088 ^D-PMS place ^H4725 ^D-NMS , and upon ^H5921 ^PREP the inhabitants ^H3427 of the same . So they brought ^H7725 the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS word ^H1697 again .

29 Then the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS sent ^H7971 ^W-VQY3MS and gathered together ^H622 all ^H3605 ^NMS the elders ^H2205 of Judah ^H3063 and Jerusalem ^H3389 .

30 And the king ^H4428 ^D-NMS went up ^H5927 ^W-VHY3MS into the house ^H1004 ^CMS of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , and all ^H3605 ^NMS the men ^H376 ^NMS of Judah ^H3063 , and the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 , and the priests ^H3548 , and the Levites ^H3881 , and all ^H3605 ^NMS the people ^H5971 , great ^H1419 and small ^H6996 : and he read ^H7121 ^W-VQY3MS in their ears ^H241 all ^H3605 ^NMS the words ^H1697 ^CMP of the book ^H5612 ^CMS of the covenant ^H1285 ^D-NFS that was found ^H4672 in the house ^H1004 ^CMS of the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS .
