1 तब परमेश्वर ने याकूब से कहा, यहां से कूच करके बेतेल को जा, और वहीं रह: और वहां ईश्वर के लिये वेदी बना, जिसने तुझे उस समय दर्शन दिया, जब तू अपने भाई ऐसाव के डर से भागा जाता था।
2 तब याकूब ने अपने घराने से, और उन सब से भी जो उसके संग थे, कहा, तुम्हारे बीच में जो पराए देवता हैं, उन्हें निकाल फेंको ; और अपने अपने को शुद्ध करो, और अपने वस्त्र बदल डालो;
3 और आओ, हम यहां से कूच करके बेतेल को जाएं; वहां मैं ईश्वर के लिये एक वेदी बनाऊंगा, जिसने संकट के दिन मेरी सुन ली, और जिस मार्ग से मैं चलता था, उस में मेरे संग रहा।
4 सो जितने पराए देवता उनके पास थे, और जितने कुण्डल उनके कानोंमें थे, उन सभों को उन्होंने याकूब को दिया; और उसने उन को उस सिन्दूर वृक्ष के नीचे, जो शकेम के पास है, गाड़ दिया।
5 तब उन्होंने कूच किया: और उनके चारों ओर के नगर निवासियों के मन में परमेश्वर की ओर से ऐसा भय समा गया, कि उन्होंने याकूब के पुत्रों का पीछा न किया।
6 सो याकूब उन सब समेत, जो उसके संग थे, कनान देश के लूज नगर को आया। वह नगर बेतेल भी कहलाता है।
7 वहां उसने एक वेदी बनाईं, और उस स्थान का नाम एलबेतेल रखा; क्योंकि जब वह अपने भाई के डर से भागा जाता था तब परमेश्वर उस पर वहीं प्रगट हुआ था।
8 और रिबका की दूध पिलानेहारी धाय दबोरा मर गई, और बेतेल के नीचे सिन्दूर वृक्ष के तले उसको मिट्टी दी गई, और उस सिन्दूर वृक्ष का नाम अल्लोनबक्कूत रखा गया॥
9 फिर याकूब के पद्दनराम से आने के पश्चात परमेश्वर ने दूसरी बार उसको दर्शन देकर आशीष दी।
10 और परमेश्वर ने उससे कहा, अब तक तो तेरा नाम याकूब रहा है; पर आगे को तेरा नाम याकूब न रहेगा, तू इस्राएल कहलाएगा:
11 फिर परमेश्वर ने उससे कहा, मैं सर्वशक्तिमान ईश्वर हूं: तू फूले-फले और बढ़े; और तुझ से एक जाति वरन जातियों की एक मण्डली भी उत्पन्न होगी, और तेरे वंश में राजा उत्पन्न होंगे।
12 और जो देश मैं ने इब्राहीम और इसहाक को दिया है, वही देश तुझे देता हूं, और तेरे पीछे तेरे वंश को भी दूंगा।
13 तब परमेश्वर उस स्थान में, जहां उसने याकूब से बातें की, उनके पास से ऊपर चढ़ गया।
14 और जिस स्थान में परमेश्वर ने याकूब से बातें की, वहां याकूब ने पत्थर का एक खम्बा खड़ा किया, और उस पर अर्घ देकर तेल डाल दिया।
15 और जहां परमेश्वर ने याकूब से बातें की, उस स्थान का नाम उसने बेतेल रखा।
16 फिर उन्होंने बेतेल से कूच किया; और एप्राता थोड़ी ही दूर रह गया था, कि राहेल को बच्चा जनने की बड़ी पीड़ा आने लगी।
17 जब उसको बड़ी बड़ी पीड़ा उठती थी तब धाय ने उससे कहा, मत डर; अब की भी तेरे बेटा ही होगा।
18 तब ऐसा हुआ, कि वह मर गई, और प्राण निकलते निकलते उसने उस बेटे को नाम बेनोनी रखा: पर उसके पिता ने उसका नाम बिन्यामीन रखा।
19 यों राहेल मर गई, और एप्राता, अर्थात बेतलेहेम के मार्ग में, उसको मिट्टी दी गई।
20 और याकूब ने उसकी कब्र पर एक खम्भा खड़ा किया: राहेल की कब्र का वही खम्भा आज तक बना है।
21 फिर इस्राएल ने कूच किया, और एदेर नाम गुम्मट के आगे बढ़कर अपना तम्बू खड़ा किया।
22 जब इस्राएल उस देश में बसा था, तब एक दिन ऐसा हुआ, कि रूबेन ने जा कर अपने पिता की रखेली बिल्हा के साथ कुकर्म किया: और यह बात इस्राएल को मालूम हो गई॥
23 याकूब के बारह पुत्र हुए। उन में से लिआ: के पुत्र ये थे; अर्थात याकूब का जेठा, रूबेन, फिर शिमोन, लेवी, यहूदा, इस्साकार, और जबूलून।
24 और राहेल के पुत्र ये थे; अर्थात यूसुफ, और बिन्यामीन।
25 और राहेल की लौन्डी बिल्हा के पुत्र ये थे; अर्थात दान, और नप्ताली।
26 और लिआ: की लौन्डी जिल्पा के पुत्र ये थे: अर्थात गाद, और आशेर; याकूब के ये ही पुत्र हुए, जो उससे पद्दनराम में उत्पन्न हुए॥
27 और याकूब मम्रे में, जो करियतअर्बा, अर्थात हब्रोन है, जहां इब्राहीम और इसहाक परदेशी हो कर रहे थे, अपने पिता इसहाक के पास आया।
28 इसहाक की अवस्था एक सौ अस्सी बरस की हुई।
29 और इसहाक का प्राण छूट गया, और वह मर गया, और वह बूढ़ा और पूरी आयु का हो कर अपने लोगों में जा मिला: और उसके पुत्र ऐसाव और याकूब ने उसको मिट्टी दी॥

2 Then Jacob H3290 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP his household H1004 NMS-3MS , and to H413 PREP all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO were with H5973 PREP-3MS him , Put away H5493 the strange H5236 gods H430 CDP that H834 RPRO are among H8432 you , and be clean H2891 , and change H2498 your garments H8071 :
3 And let us arise H6965 , and go up H5927 to Bethel H1008 LFS ; and I will make H6213 there H8033 an altar H4196 NMS unto God H410 L-NMS , who answered H6030 me in the day H3117 B-NMS of my distress H6869 , and was H1961 W-VQY3MS with H5973 me in the way H1870 which H834 RPRO I went H1980 .
4 And they gave H5414 W-VQY3MP unto H413 PREP Jacob H3290 all H3605 NMS the strange H5236 gods H430 CDP which H834 RPRO were in their hand H3027 , and all their earrings H5141 which H834 RPRO were in their ears H241 ; and Jacob H3290 hid H2934 them under H8478 NMS the oak H424 which H834 RPRO was by H5973 PREP Shechem H7927 .
5 And they journeyed H5265 : and the terror H2847 of God H430 EDP was H1961 W-VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP the cities H5892 that H834 RPRO were round about H5439 them , and they did not H3808 W-NPAR pursue H7291 after H310 PREP the sons H1121 of Jacob H3290 .

11 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , I H589 PPRO-1MS am God H410 EDS Almighty H7706 EDS : be fruitful H6509 and multiply H7235 ; a nation H1471 NMS and a company H6951 of nations H1471 NMP shall be H1961 VQY3MS of H4480 thee , and kings H4428 shall come out H3318 of thy loins H2504 ;
12 And the land H776 D-GFS which H834 RPRO I gave H5414 VQQ1MS Abraham H85 and Isaac H3327 , to thee I will give H5414 VQY1MS-3FS it , and to thy seed H2233 WL-CMS-2MS after H310 thee will I give H5414 VQY1MS the land H776 D-GFS .
13 And God H430 EDP went up H5927 W-VHY3MS from M-PREP-3MS him in the place H4725 where H834 RPRO he talked H1696 VPQ3MS with H854 PREP-3MS him .
14 And Jacob H3290 set up H5324 a pillar H4676 in the place H4725 where H834 RPRO he talked H1696 VPQ3MS with H854 PREP-3MS him , even a pillar H4678 of stone H68 NFS : and he poured H5258 a drink offering H5262 thereon H5921 PREP-3FS , and he poured H3332 oil H8081 CMS thereon H5921 PREP-3FS .

16 And they journeyed H5265 from Bethel H1008 LFS ; and there was H1961 W-VPY3MS but H5750 ADV a little way H776 D-GFS to come H935 L-VQFC to Ephrath H672 : and Rachel H7354 travailed H3205 W-VQY3FS , and she had hard H7185 labor H3205 .
17 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , when she was in hard H7185 labor H3205 , that the midwife H3205 said H559 W-VQY3FS unto her , Fear H3372 not H408 NPAR ; thou shalt have this H2088 DPRO son H1121 NMS also H1571 CONJ .
18 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , as her soul H5315 was in departing H3318 , ( CONJ for CONJ she died H4191 ) that she called H7121 W-VQY2MS his name H8034 CMS-3MS Ben H1126 - oni : but his father H1 called H7121 him Benjamin H1144 .
19 And Rachel H7354 died H4191 , and was buried H6912 in the way H1870 B-NMS to Ephrath H672 , which H1931 PPRO-3FS is Bethlehem H1035 .
20 And Jacob H3290 set H5324 a pillar H4676 upon H5921 PREP her grave H6900 : that H1931 PPRO-3FS is the pillar H4678 of Rachel H7354 \'s grave H6900 unto H5704 PREP this day H3117 D-NMS .
21 And Israel H3478 journeyed H5265 W-VQY3MS , and spread H5186 W-VQY3MS his tent H168 beyond H1973 the tower H4026 of Edar H4029 .

23 The sons H1121 of Leah H3812 ; Reuben H7205 , Jacob H3290 \'s firstborn H1060 CMS , and Simeon H8095 , and Levi H3878 , and Judah H3063 , and Issachar H3485 , and Zebulun H2074 :
24 The sons H1121 of Rachel H7354 ; Joseph H3130 , and Benjamin H1144 :
25 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Bilhah H1090 , Rachel H7354 \'s handmaid H8198 ; Dan H1835 , and Naphtali H5321 :
26 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Zilpah H2153 , Leah H3812 \'s handmaid H8198 ; Gad H1410 , and Asher H836 : these H428 PMP are the sons H1121 W-CMP of Jacob H3290 , which H834 RPRO were born H3205 VWQ3MS to him in Padan H6307 - aram .
27 And Jacob H3290 came H935 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Isaac H3327 his father H1 CMS-3MS unto Mamre H4471 EFS , unto the city of Arbah H7153 , which H1931 PPRO-3FS is Hebron H2275 , where H834 RPRO Abraham H85 and Isaac H3327 sojourned H1481 .
28 And the days H3117 CMP of Isaac H3327 were H1961 W-VQY3MP a hundred H3967 BFS and fourscore H8084 W-MMP years H8141 NFS .
29 And Isaac H3327 gave up the ghost H1478 W-VQY3MS , and died H4191 W-VQY3MS , and was gathered H622 unto H413 PREP his people H5971 , being old H2205 PFS and full H7649 W-JMS of days H3117 NMP : and his sons H1121 Esau H6215 and Jacob H3290 buried H6912 him .
