1 जिन दिनों में न्यायी लोग न्याय करते थे उन दिनों में देश में अकाल पड़ा, तब यहूदा के बेतलेहेम का एक पुरूष अपनी स्त्री और दोनों पुत्रों को संग ले कर मोआब के देश में परदेशी हो कर रहने के लिये चला।
2 उस पुरूष का नाम एलीमेलेक, और उसकी पत्नि का नाम नाओमी, और उसके दो बेटों के नाम महलोन और किल्योन थे; ये एप्राती अर्थात यहूदा के बेतलेहेम के रहने वाले थे। और मोआब के देश में आकर वहां रहे।
3 और नाओमी का पति एलीमेलेक मर गया, और नाओमी और उसके दोनों पुत्र रह गए।
4 और इन्होंने एक एक मोआबिन ब्याह ली; एक स्त्री का नाम ओर्पा और दूसरी का नाम रूत था। फिर वे वहां कोई दस वर्ष रहे।
5 जब महलोन और किल्योन दोनों मर गए, तब नाआमी अपने दोनों पुत्रों और पति से रहित हो गई।
6 तब वह मोआब के देश में यह सुनकर, कि यहोवा ने अपनी प्रजा के लोगों की सुधि लेके उन्हें भोजनवस्तु दी है, उस देश से अपनी दोनों बहुओं समेत लौट जाने को चली।
7 तब वह अपनी दोनों बहुओं समेत उस स्थान से जहां रहती थी निकली, और उन्होने यहूदा देश को लौट जाने का मार्ग लिया।
8 तब नाओमी ने अपनी दोनों बहुओं से कहा, तुम अपने अपने मैके लौट जाओ। और जैसे तुम ने उन से जो मर गए हैं और मुझ से भी प्रीति की है, वैसे ही यहोवा तुम्हारे ऊपर कृपा करे।
9 यहोवा ऐसा करे कि तुम फिर पति करके उनके घरों में विश्राम पाओ। तब उसने उन को चूमा, और वे चिल्ला चिल्लाकर रोने लगीं,
10 और उस से कहा, निश्चय हम तेरे संग तेरे लोगों के पास चलेंगी।
11 नाओमी ने कहा, हे मेरी बेटियों, लौट जाओ, तुम क्यों मेरे संग चलोगी? क्या मेरी कोख में और पुत्र हैं जो तुम्हारे पति हों?
12 हे मेरी बेटियों, लौटकर चली जाओ, क्योंकि मैं पति करने को बूढ़ी हूं। और चाहे मैं कहती भी, कि मुझे आशा है, और आज की रात मेरे पति होता भी, और मेरे पुत्र भी होते,
13 तौभी क्या तुम उनके सयाने होने तक आशा लगाए ठहरी रहतीं? और उनके निमित्त पति करने से रुकी रहतीं? हे मेरी बेटियों, ऐसा न हो, क्योंकि मेरा दु:ख तुम्हारे दु:ख से बहुत बढ़कर है; देखो, यहोवा का हाथ मेरे विरुद्ध उठा है।
14 तब वे फिर से उठीं; और ओर्पा ने तो अपनी सास को चूमा, परन्तु रूत उस से अलग न हुई।
15 तब उसने कहा, देख, तेरी जिठानी तो अपने लोगों और अपने देवता के पास लौट गई है; इसलिए तू अपनी जिठानी के पीछे लौट जा।
16 रूत बोली, तू मुझ से यह बिनती न कर, कि मुझे त्याग वा छोड़कर लौट जा; क्योंकि जिधर तू जाए उधर मैं भी जाऊंगी; जहां तू टिके वहां मैं भी टिकूंगी; तेरे लोग मेरे लोग होंगे, और तेरा परमेश्वर मेरा परमेश्वर होगा;
17 जहां तू मरेगी वहां मैं भी मरूंगी, और वहीं मुझे मिट्टी दी जाएगी। यदि मृत्यु छोड़ और किसी कारण मैं तुझ से अलग होऊं, तो यहोवा मुझ से वैसा ही वरन उस से भी अधिक करे।
18 जब उसने यह देखा कि वह मेरे संग चलने को स्थिर है, तब उसने उस से और बात न कही।
19 सो वे दोनों चल निकलीं और बेतलेहेम को पहुंची। और उनके बेतलेहेम में पहुंचने पर कुल नगर में उनके कारण धूम मची; और स्त्रियां कहने लगीं, क्या यह नाओमी है?
20 उसने उन से कहा, मुझे नाओमी न कहो, मुझे मारा कहो, क्योंकि सर्वशक्तिमान् ने मुझ को बड़ा दु:ख दिया है।
21 मैं भरी पूरी चली गई थी, परन्तु यहोवा ने मुझे छूछी करके लौटाया है। सो जब कि यहोवा ही ने मेरे विरुद्ध साक्षी दी, और सर्वशक्तिमान ने मुझे दु:ख दिया है, फिर तुम मुझे क्यों नाओमी कहती हो?
22 इस प्रकार नाओमी अपनी मोआबिन बहू रूत के साथ लौटी, जो मोआब के देश से आई थी। और वे जौ कटने के आरम्भ के समय बेतलेहेम में पहुंची॥

And they came H935 W-VQY3MP into the country H7704 of Moab H4124 , and continued H1961 W-VQY3MP there H8033 ADV .
3 And Elimelech H458 Naomi H5281 \'s husband H376 NMS died H4191 W-VQY3MS ; and she H1931 PPRO-3FS was left H7604 , and her two H8147 sons H1121 .
4 And they took H5375 W-VQY3MP them wives H802 GFP of the women of Moab H4125 ; the name H8034 CMS of the one H259 D-ONUM was Orpah H6204 , and the name H8034 W-CMS of the other H8145 D-ONUM Ruth H7327 : and they dwelled H3427 W-VQY3MP there H8033 ADV about ten H6235 years H8141 .
5 And Mahlon H4248 and Chilion H3630 died H4191 W-VQY3MP also H1571 CONJ both H8147 ONUM-3MP of them ; and the woman H802 D-NFS was left H7604 of her two sons H8147 and her husband H376 .
6 Then she H1931 PPRO-3FS arose H6965 with her daughters H3618 - in - law , that she might return H7725 W-VQY3FS from the country H7704 of Moab H4124 : for H3588 CONJ she had heard H8085 VQQ3FS in the country H7704 of Moab H4124 how that H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS had visited H6485 VQQ3MS his people H5971 in giving H5414 L-VQFC them bread H3899 NMS .
7 Wherefore she went forth H3318 out of H4480 PREP the place H4725 D-NMS where H834 RPRO she was H1961 VQQ3FS , and her two H8147 daughters H3618 - in - law with her H5973 PREP-3FS ; and they went H1980 on the way H1870 to return H7725 unto H413 PREP the land H776 GFS of Judah H3063 .

9 The LORD H3068 EDS grant H5414 VHFA you that ye may find H4672 rest H4496 , each H802 NFS of you in the house H1004 CMS of her husband H376 . Then she kissed H5401 W-VQQ3FS them ; and they lifted up H5375 their voice H6963 , and wept H1058 .

11 And Naomi H5281 said H559 W-VQY3FS , Turn again H7725 , my daughters H1323 : why H4100 L-IPRO will ye go H1980 with H5973 me ? are there yet H5750 any more sons H1121 NMP in my womb H4578 , that they may be H1961 W-VQQ3MS your husbands H376 ?
12 Turn again H7725 , my daughters H1323 , go H1980 your way ; for H3588 CONJ I am too old H2204 to have a husband H376 L-NMS . If H3588 CONJ I should say H559 VQQ1MS , I have H3426 ADV hope H8615 , if I should have H1961 a husband H376 L-NMS also H1571 CONJ tonight H3915 D-AMS , and should also H1571 W-CONJ bear H3205 sons H1121 ;
13 Would ye tarry H7663 for them H2004 till H5704 PREP they were grown H1431 ? would ye stay H5702 for them H2004 from having H1961 VQFC husbands H376 L-NMS ? nay H408 NPAR , my daughters H1323 ; for H3588 CONJ it grieveth H4843 me much H3966 ADV for H4480 M-PPRO-2MS your sakes that H3588 CONJ the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS is gone out H3318 VQQ3FS against me .
14 And they lifted up H5375 their voice H6963 , and wept H1058 again H5750 ADV : and Orpah H6204 kissed H5401 W-VQQ3FS her mother H2545 - in - law ; but Ruth H7327 cleaved H1692 VQQ3FS unto her .
15 And she said H559 W-VQY3FS , Behold H2009 IJEC , thy sister H2994 - in - law is gone back H7725 unto H413 PREP her people H5971 , and unto H413 PREP her gods H430 : return H7725 thou after H310 PREP thy sister H2994 - in - law .
16 And Ruth H7327 said H559 W-VQY3FS , Entreat H6293 me not H408 NPAR to leave H5800 thee , or to return H7725 from following after H310 thee : for H3588 CONJ whither H834 RPRO thou goest H1980 , I will go H1980 VQY1MS ; and where H834 RPRO thou lodgest H3885 , I will lodge H3885 : thy people H5971 shall be my people H5971 , and thy God H430 my God H430 CMP-1MS :

18 When she saw H7200 W-VQQ3FS that H3588 CONJ she H1931 PPRO-3FS was steadfastly minded H553 to go H1980 L-VQFC with H854 her , then she left H2308 speaking H1696 unto H413 her .
19 So they two H8147 went H1980 until H5704 PREP they came H935 to Bethlehem H1035 . And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , when they were come H935 to Bethlehem H1035 , that all H3605 NMS the city H5892 D-GFS was moved H1949 about H5921 them , and they said H559 , Is this H2063 D-PFS Naomi H5281 ?
20 And she said H559 W-VQY3FS unto H413 them , Call H7121 me not H408 NPAR Naomi H5281 , call H7121 me Mara H4755 : for H3588 CONJ the Almighty H7706 EDS hath dealt very bitterly H4843 VHQ3MS with me .
21 I H589 PPRO-1MS went out H1980 VQQ1MS full H4392 , and the LORD H3068 EDS hath brought me home again H7725 empty H7387 : why H4100 L-IPRO then call H7121 ye me Naomi H5281 , seeing the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS hath testified H6030 against me , and the Almighty H7706 W-EDS hath afflicted H7489 me ?
22 So Naomi H5281 returned H7725 W-VQY3FS , and Ruth H7327 the Moabitess H4125 , her daughter H3618 - in - law , with her H5973 PREP-3FS , which returned H7725 out of the country H7704 of Moab H4124 : and they H1992 came H935 VQQ3MP to Bethlehem H1035 in the beginning H8462 of barley H8184 harvest H7105 .
