Micah 2:1 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out, simply because you have the power to do so.
2 When you want a piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone's house, you take it by fraud and violence. You cheat a man of his property, stealing his family's inheritance.
3 But this is what the LORD says: "I will reward your evil with evil; you won't be able to pull your neck out of the noose. You will no longer walk around proudly, for it will be a terrible time."
4 In that day your enemies will make fun of you by singing this song of despair about you: "We are finished, completely ruined! God has confiscated our land, taking it from us. He has given our fields to those who betrayed us. "
5 Others will set your boundaries then, and the LORD's people will have no say in how the land is divided.
6 "Don't say such things," the people respond. "Don't prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!"
7 Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the LORD's Spirit have patience with such behavior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.
8 Yet to this very hour my people rise against me like an enemy! You steal the shirts right off the backs of those who trusted you, making them as ragged as men returning from battle.
9 You have evicted women from their pleasant homes and forever stripped their children of all that God would give them.
10 Up! Begone! This is no longer your land and home, for you have filled it with sin and ruined it completely.
11 Suppose a prophet full of lies would say to you, "I'll preach to you the joys of wine and alcohol!" That's just the kind of prophet you would like!
12 "Someday, O Israel, I will gather you; I will gather the remnant who are left. I will bring you together again like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture. Yes, your land will again be filled with noisy crowds!
13 Your leader will break out and lead you out of exile, out through the gates of the enemy cities, back to your own land. Your king will lead you; the LORD himself will guide you."
1 Woe H1945 to them that devise H2803 iniquity H205 NMS , and work H6466 evil H7451 AMS upon H5921 PREP their beds H4904 ! when the morning H1242 is light H216 B-CMS , they practice H6213 it , because H3588 CONJ it is H3426 ADV in the power H410 L-NMS of their hand H3027 .
2 And they covet H2530 fields H7704 , and take them by violence H1497 ; and houses H1004 , and take them away H5375 : so they oppress H6231 a man H1397 NMS and his house H1004 even a man H376 W-NMS and his heritage H5159 .
3 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Behold H2009 , against H5921 PREP this H2063 D-DFS family H4940 do I devise H2803 an evil H7451 AFS , from M-ADV which H834 RPRO ye shall not H3808 ADV remove H4185 your necks H6677 ; neither H3808 W-NADV shall ye go H1980 haughtily H7317 : for H3588 CONJ this H1931 time H6256 NMS is evil H7451 AFS .
4 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS shall one take up H5375 VQY3MS a parable H4912 NMS against H5921 PREP-2MP you , and lament H5091 with a doleful H5093 lamentation H5092 , and say H559 VQQ3MS , We be H1961 utterly spoiled H7703 : he hath changed H4171 the portion H2506 CMS of my people H5971 : how H349 hath he removed H4185 it from me ! turning away H7728 he hath divided H2505 our fields H7704 .
5 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thou shalt have H1961 VQY3MS none H3808 ADV that shall cast H7993 a cord H2256 by lot H1486 in the congregation H6951 of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
6 Prophesy H5197 ye not H408 NPAR , say they to them that prophesy H5197 : they shall not H3808 ADV prophesy H5197 to them H428 , that they shall not H3808 NADV take H5253 shame H3639 .
7 O thou that art named H559 the house H1004 of Jacob H3290 , is the spirit H7307 NFS of the LORD H3068 EDS straitened H7114 ? are these H428 PMP his doings H4611 ? do not H3808 D-NPAR my words H1697 CMP-1MS do good H3190 to H5973 PREP him that walketh H1980 uprightly H3477 ?
8 Even of late H865 my people H5971 is risen up H6965 as an enemy H341 L-VQPMS : ye pull off H6584 the robe H145 with the garment H8008 from them that pass by securely H983 NMS as men averse H7725 from war H4421 .
9 The women H802 GFP of my people H5971 have ye cast out H1644 from their pleasant H8588 houses H1004 ; from M-PREP their children H5768 have ye taken away H3947 my glory H1926 forever H5769 .
10 Arise H6965 ye , and depart H1980 W-VQI2MP ; for H3588 CONJ this H2063 DPRO is not H3808 NADV your rest H4496 : because H5668 B-NMS it is polluted H2930 , it shall destroy H2254 you , even with a sore H4834 destruction H2256 .
11 If H3863 CONJ a man H376 NMS walking H1980 in the spirit H7307 NFS and falsehood H8267 do lie H3576 , saying , I will prophesy H5197 unto thee of wine H3196 and of strong drink H7941 ; he shall even be H1961 W-VQQ3MS the prophet H5197 of this H2088 D-PMS people H5971 .
12 I will surely assemble H622 , O Jacob H3290 , all H3605 of thee ; I will surely gather H6908 the remnant H7611 of Israel H3478 ; I will put H7760 them together H3162 ADV as the sheep H6629 of Bozrah H1223 , as the flock H5739 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of their fold H1699 : they shall make great noise H1949 by reason of the multitude of men H120 .
13 The breaker H6555 is come up H5927 before H6440 L-CMP-3MP them : they have broken up H6555 , and have passed through H5674 the gate H8179 NMS , and are gone out H3318 W-VQY3MP by it : and their king H4428 shall pass H5674 W-VQY3MS before H6440 L-CMP-3MP them , and the LORD H3068 W-EDS on the head H7218 of them .
