Micah 7 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 How miserable I am! I feel like the fruit picker after the harvest who can find nothing to eat. Not a cluster of grapes or a single early fig can be found to satisfy my hunger.
2 The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers.
3 Both their hands are equally skilled at doing evil! Officials and judges alike demand bribes. The people with influence get what they want, and together they scheme to twist justice.
4 Even the best of them is like a brier; the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns. But your judgment day is coming swiftly now. Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion.
5 Don't trust anyone-- not your best friend or even your wife!
6 For the son despises his father. The daughter defies her mother. The daughter-in-law defies her mother-in-law. Your enemies are right in your own household!
7 As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.
8 Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.
9 I will be patient as the LORD punishes me, for I have sinned against him. But after that, he will take up my case and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies. The LORD will bring me into the light, and I will see his righteousness.
10 Then my enemies will see that the LORD is on my side. They will be ashamed that they taunted me, saying, "So where is the LORD-- that God of yours?" With my own eyes I will see their downfall; they will be trampled like mud in the streets.
11 In that day, Israel, your cities will be rebuilt, and your borders will be extended.
12 People from many lands will come and honor you-- from Assyria all the way to the towns of Egypt, from Egypt all the way to the Euphrates River, and from distant seas and mountains.
13 But the land will become empty and desolate because of the wickedness of those who live there.
14 O LORD, protect your people with your shepherd's staff; lead your flock, your special possession. Though they live alone in a thicket on the heights of Mount Carmel, let them graze in the fertile pastures of Bashan and Gilead as they did long ago.
15 "Yes," says the LORD, "I will do mighty miracles for you, like those I did when I rescued you from slavery in Egypt."
16 All the nations of the world will stand amazed at what the LORD will do for you. They will be embarrassed at their feeble power. They will cover their mouths in silent awe, deaf to everything around them.
17 Like snakes crawling from their holes, they will come out to meet the LORD our God. They will fear him greatly, trembling in terror at his presence.
18 Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love.
19 Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
20 You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.

6 For H3588 CONJ the son H1121 dishonoreth H5034 the father H1 NMS , the daughter H1323 CFS riseth up H6965 against her mother H517 , the daughter H3618 - in - law against her mother H2545 - in - law ; a man H376 NMS \'s enemies H341 are the men H376 NMS of his own house H1004 .

13 Notwithstanding the land H776 D-GFS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS desolate H8077 because of H5921 PREP them that dwell H3427 therein , for the fruit H6529 M-CMS of their doings H4611 .
14 Feed H7462 thy people H5971 with thy rod H7626 , the flock H6629 NMS of thine heritage H5159 , which dwell H7931 solitarily H910 in the wood H3293 , in the midst H8432 B-NMS of Carmel H3760 : let them feed H7462 VQY3MP in Bashan H1316 and Gilead H1568 , as in the days H3117 K-CMP of old H5769 NMS .
15 According to the days H3117 K-CMP of thy coming out H3318 of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 will I show H7200 unto him marvelous H6381 things .
16 The nations H1471 NMP shall see H7200 VQY3MP and be confounded H954 at all H3605 M-CMS their might H1369 : they shall lay H7760 VQY3MP their hand H3027 NFS upon H5921 PREP their mouth H6310 , their ears H241 shall be deaf H2790 .
17 They shall lick H3897 the dust H6083 NMS like a serpent H5175 , they shall move H7264 out of their holes H4526 like worms H2119 of the earth H776 GFS : they shall be afraid H6342 of H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS our God H430 , and shall fear H3372 because of H4480 M-PPRO-2MS thee .
18 Who H4310 IPRO is a God H410 EDS like unto thee H3644 PREP-2MS , that pardoneth H5375 iniquity H5771 NMS , and passeth by the transgression H6588 of the remnant H7611 of his heritage H5159 ? he retaineth H2388 not H3808 NADV his anger H639 CMS-3MS forever H5703 L-NMS , because H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS delighteth H2654 in mercy H2617 NMS .
19 He will turn again H7725 VQY3MS , he will have compassion H7355 upon us ; he will subdue H3533 our iniquities H5771 ; and thou wilt cast H7993 all H3605 NMS their sins H2403 into the depths H4688 of the sea H3220 NMS .
20 Thou wilt perform H5414 VQY2MS the truth H571 CFS to Jacob H3290 , and the mercy H2617 NMS to Abraham H85 , which H834 RPRO thou hast sworn H7650 unto our fathers H1 from the days H3117 of old H6924 NMS .
