Romans 6:7 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?
2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?
4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.
10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.
13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace.
15 Well then, since God's grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
16 Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.
18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.
19 Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.
20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right.
21 And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.
22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

4 Therefore G3767 CONJ we are buried G4916 V-2API-1P with him G846 P-DSM by G1223 PREP baptism G908 N-GSN into G1519 PREP death G2288 N-ASM : that G2443 CONJ like as G5618 ADV Christ G5547 N-NSM was raised up G1453 V-API-3S from G1537 PREP the dead G3498 A-GPM by G1223 PREP the G3588 T-GSF glory G1391 N-GSF of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM Father G3962 N-GSM , even G2532 CONJ so G3779 ADV we G2249 P-1NP also G2532 CONJ should walk G4043 V-AAS-1P in G1722 PREP newness G2538 N-DSF of life G2222 N-GSF .
5 For G1063 CONJ if G1487 COND we have been G1096 V-2RAI-1P planted together G4854 A-NPM in the G3588 T-DSN likeness G3667 N-DSN of G3588 T-GSM his G3588 T-GSM death G2288 N-GSM , we shall be V-FXI-1P also G2532 CONJ in the G3588 T-GSF likeness of his resurrection G386 N-GSF :
6 Knowing G1097 V-PAP-NPM this G5124 D-ASN , that G3754 CONJ our G3588 T-NSM old G3820 A-NSM man G444 N-NSM is crucified with G4957 V-API-3S him , that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSN body G4983 N-NSN of sin G266 N-GSF might be destroyed G2673 V-APS-3S , that henceforth G3371 ADV we G2248 P-1AP should not serve G1398 V-PAN sin G266 N-DSF .
7 For G1063 CONJ he that is dead G599 V-2AAP-NSM is freed G1344 V-RPI-3S from G575 PREP sin G266 N-GSF .
8 Now G1161 CONJ if G1487 COND we be dead G599 V-2AAI-1P with G4862 PREP Christ G5547 N-DSM , we believe G4100 V-PAI-1P that G3754 CONJ we shall also G2532 CONJ live with G4800 V-FAI-1P him G846 P-DSM :
9 Knowing G1492 V-RAP-NPM that G3754 CONJ Christ G5547 N-NSM being raised G1453 V-APP-NSM from G1537 PREP the dead G3498 A-GPM dieth G599 V-PAI-3S no more G3765 ADV ; death G2288 N-NSM hath no more dominion over G2961 V-PAI-3S him G846 P-GSM .
10 For G1063 CONJ in that G3739 R-ASN he died G599 V-2AAI-3S , he G3588 T-DSF died G599 V-2AAI-3S unto sin G266 N-DSF once G2178 ADV : but G1161 CONJ in that G3739 R-ASN he liveth G2198 V-PAI-3S , he G3588 T-DSM liveth G2198 V-PAI-3S unto God G2316 N-DSM .
11 Likewise G3779 ADV reckon G3049 V-PNM-2P ye G5210 P-2NP also G2532 CONJ yourselves G1438 F-3APM to be G1511 V-PXN dead G3498 A-APM indeed G3303 PRT unto sin G266 N-DSF , but G1161 CONJ alive G2198 V-PAP-APM unto God G2316 N-DSM through G1722 PREP Jesus G2424 N-DSM Christ G5547 N-DSM our G3588 T-DSM Lord G2962 N-DSM .
12 Let not G3361 PRT-N sin G266 N-NSF therefore G3767 CONJ reign G936 V-PAM-3S in G1722 PREP your G3588 T-DSN mortal G2349 A-DSN body G4983 N-DSN , that ye should obey G5219 V-PAN it G846 P-DSF in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DPF lusts G1939 N-DPF thereof G848 .
13 Neither G3366 CONJ yield G3936 V-PAM-2P ye G3588 T-APN your G3588 T-APN members G3196 N-APN as instruments G3696 N-APN of G3588 T-DSF unrighteousness G93 N-GSF unto sin G266 N-DSF : but G235 CONJ yield G3936 V-AAM-2P yourselves G1438 F-3APM unto God G2316 N-DSM , as G5613 ADV those that are alive G2198 V-PAP-APM from G1537 PREP the dead G3498 A-GPM , and G2532 CONJ your G3588 T-APN members G3196 N-APN as instruments G3696 N-APN of G3588 T-DSM righteousness G1343 N-GSF unto God G2316 N-DSM .
14 For G1063 CONJ sin G266 N-NSF shall not G3756 PRT-N have dominion over G2961 V-FAI-3S you G5216 P-2GP : for G1063 CONJ ye are G2075 V-PXI-2P not G3756 PRT-N under G5259 PREP the law G3551 N-ASM , but G235 CONJ under G5259 PREP grace G5485 N-ASF .
15 What G5101 I-NSN then G3767 CONJ ? shall we sin G264 V-FAI-1P , because G3754 CONJ we are G2070 V-PXI-1P not G3756 PRT-N under G5259 PREP the law G3551 N-ASM , but G235 CONJ under G5259 PREP grace G5485 N-ASF ? God forbid G1096 V-2ADO-3S .
16 Know G1492 V-RAI-2P ye not G3756 PRT-N , that G3754 CONJ to whom G3739 R-DSN ye yield G3936 V-PAI-2P yourselves G1438 F-3APM servants G1401 N-APM to G1519 PREP obey G5218 N-ASF , his servants G1401 N-NPM ye are G2075 V-PXI-2P to whom G3739 R-DSN ye obey G5219 V-PAI-2P ; whether G2273 CONJ of sin G266 N-GSF unto G1519 PREP death G2288 N-ASM , or G2228 PRT of obedience G5218 N-GSF unto G1519 PREP righteousness G1343 N-ASF ?
17 But G1161 CONJ God be thanked G5485 N-NSF , that G3754 CONJ ye were G2258 V-IXI-2P the G3588 T-GSF servants G1401 N-NPM of sin G266 N-GSF , but G1161 CONJ ye have obeyed G5219 V-AAI-2P from G1537 PREP the heart G2588 N-GSF that form G5179 N-ASM of doctrine G1322 N-GSF which G3739 R-ASM was delivered G3860 V-API-2P you .
18 Being then G1161 CONJ made free G1659 V-APP-NPM from G575 PREP sin G266 N-GSF , ye G3588 T-DSF became the G3588 T-DSF servants G1402 V-API-2P of righteousness G1343 N-DSF .
19 I speak G3004 V-PAI-1S after the manner of men G442 A-ASN because G1223 PREP of G3588 T-ASF the G3588 T-ASF infirmity G769 N-ASF of G3588 T-GSF your G3588 T-GSF flesh G4561 N-GSF : for G1063 CONJ as G5618 ADV ye have yielded G3936 V-AAI-2P your G3588 T-APN members G3196 N-APN servants G1400 to uncleanness G167 N-DSF and G2532 CONJ to iniquity G458 N-DSF unto G1519 PREP iniquity G458 N-ASF ; even so G3779 ADV now G3568 ADV yield G3936 V-AAM-2P your G3588 T-APN members G3196 N-APN servants G1400 to righteousness G1343 N-DSF unto G1519 PREP holiness G38 N-ASM .
20 For G1063 CONJ when G3753 ADV ye were G2258 V-IXI-2P the G3588 T-GSF servants G1401 N-NPM of sin G266 N-GSF , ye were G2258 V-IXI-2P free G1658 A-NPM from righteousness G1343 N-DSF .
21 What G5101 I-ASM fruit G2590 N-ASM had G2192 V-IAI-2P ye then G5119 ADV in G1909 PREP those things whereof G3739 R-DPN ye G3588 T-NSN are now ashamed G1870 V-PNI-2P ? for G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NSN end G5056 N-NSN of those things G1565 D-GPM is death G2288 N-NSM .
22 But G1161 CONJ now G3570 ADV being made free G1659 V-APP-NPM from G575 PREP sin G266 N-GSF , and G1161 CONJ become servants G1402 V-APP-NPM to God G2316 N-DSM , ye have G2192 V-PAI-2P your G3588 T-ASM fruit G2590 N-ASM unto G1519 PREP holiness G38 N-ASM , and G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-GSF end G5056 N-NSN everlasting G166 A-ASF life G2222 N-ASF .
23 For G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NPN wages G3800 N-NPN of sin G266 N-GSF is death G2288 N-NSM ; but G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-GSF gift G5486 N-NSN of God G2316 N-GSM is eternal G166 A-NSF life G2222 N-NSF through G1722 PREP Jesus G2424 N-DSM Christ G5547 N-DSM our G3588 T-DSM Lord G2962 N-DSM .
