1 পলেষ্টীয়রা ইস্রায়েলীয় লোকদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে এলে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল| গিল্বোয পাহাড়ে মারাও গিয়েছিল অনেকে|
2 পলেষ্টীয়রা রাজা শৌল ও তাঁর পুত্রদের পেছনে ধাওযা করে শেষ পর্য়ন্ত তাঁদের ধরে ফেলে হত্যাও করেছিল| শৌলের তিন পুত্র য়োনাথন, অবীনাদব ও মল্কি-শূয পলেষ্টীয়দের হাতে মারা পড়েছিলেন|
3 এবং শৌলের চারপাশে যুদ্ধ তীব্র হয়ে ওঠে এবং শৌলকে পলেষ্টীয় তীরন্দাজরা তীর ছুঁড়ে আহত করে|
4 রাজা শৌল তখন তাঁর অস্ত্রবাহককে বললেন, “তুমি তরবারি বের করে নিজের হাতে আমায় হত্যা কর| তাহলে আর এই ভিন্দেশীরা এসে আমায় নিয়ে মস্করা করতে বা আমায় আঘাত করতে পারবে না|”কিন্তু রাজার অস্ত্রবাহক মহারাজকে হত্যা করতে ভয় পেল| তাই শৌল তখন নিজের তরবারি দিয়েই আত্মহত্যা করলেন|
5 অস্ত্রবাহক যখন দেখতে পেল রাজা শৌলের মৃত্যু হয়েছে তখন সেও নিজের তরবারি দিয়ে নিজেকে হত্যা করল|
6 অর্থাত্‌ রাজা শৌল ও তাঁর তিন পুত্র এক সঙ্গে মারা গেলেন|
7 সমতল ভূমিতে বসবাসকারী ইস্রায়েলের বাসিন্দারা দেখল তাদের সেনাবাহিনী রণক্ষেত্র ছেড়ে পালিয়েছে আর রাজা শৌল ও তাঁর তিন পুত্র মারা গিয়েছে| তখন তারাও তাদের শহর ছেড়ে পালাল| পলেষ্টীয়রা সেই সমস্ত শহর দখল করে সেখানে বাস করতে শুরু করল|
8 পরের দিন পলেষ্টীয়রা মৃতদেহ থেকে দামী জিনিসপত্র খুলে নিতে এসে গিল্বোয পর্বতে রাজা শৌল ও তাঁর তিন পুত্রের মৃতদেহ খুঁজে পেল|
9 শৌলের দেহ থেকে দুর্মূল্য জিনিসপত্র নিয়ে নেওয়ার পর পলেষ্টীয়রা শৌলের মুণ্ড এবং বর্ম নিয়ে নিল এবং তাদের লোকদের এবং তাদের দেবতাদের খবরটা জানানোর জন্য রাজ্যের সর্বত্র বার্তাবাহক পাঠাল|
10 তারপর তাদের ভ্রান্ত দেবতার মন্দিরে শৌলের কাটা মুণ্ডুটা ঝুলিয়ে দিল|
11 যাবেশ-গিলিয়দের সমস্ত লোকরা যখন জানতে পারল পলেষ্টীয়রা শৌলের কি দশা করেছে
12 তখন তারা শহরের সাহসী লোকদের রাজা ও রাজপুত্রদের মৃতদেহ ফেরত আনতে পাঠাল| যাবেশ-গিলিয়দে রাজা ও রাজপুত্রদের মৃতদেহ নিয়ে আসার পর তারা চার জনকেই যাবেশে একটা বড় গাছের তলায় সমাধিস্থ করে সাত দিন ধরে শোকপ্রকাশ এবং উপোস করল|
13 প্রভুর প্রতি অনুগত না হওয়ার কারণেই এবং প্রভুর বাণী উপেক্ষা করার জন্যই শৌলের মৃত্যু হয়েছিল| প্রভুর উপদেশ নেবার পরিবর্তে শৌল এক মাধ্যমের কাছে পরামর্শের জন্য য়েতেন|
14 এসব কারণেই প্রভু রাজা শৌলের মৃত্যু ঘটিযে য়িশযের পুত্র দায়ূদের হাতে রাজ্য় তুলে দিয়েছিলেন|
1 Now the Philistines H6430 fought H3898 against Israel H3478 ; and the men H376 NMS of Israel H3478 fled H5127 from before H6440 M-CMP the Philistines H6430 , and fell down H5307 W-VQY3MP slain H2491 NMP in mount H2022 Gilboa H1533 .
2 And the Philistines H6430 followed hard H1692 after H310 PREP Saul H7586 , and after H310 his sons H1121 CMP-3MS ; and the Philistines H6430 slew H5221 W-VHY3MP Jonathan H3129 , and Abinadab H41 , and Malchi H4444 - shua , the sons H1121 CMP-3MS of Saul H7586 .
3 And the battle H4421 went sore H3513 against H5921 PREP Saul H7586 , and the archers H3384 hit H4672 him , and he was wounded H2342 W-VQY3MS of H4480 PREP the archers H3384 .
4 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS Saul H7586 to H413 PREP his armorbearer H5375 , Draw H8025 thy sword H2719 , and thrust me through H1856 therewith ; lest H6435 CONJ these H428 D-DPRO-3MP uncircumcised H6189 come H935 VQY3MP and abuse H5953 me . But his armorbearer H5375 would H14 not H3808 W-NPAR ; for H3588 CONJ he was sore afraid H3372 VQQ3MS . So Saul H7586 took H3947 W-VQY3MS a sword H2719 D-GFS , and fell H5307 W-VQY3MS upon H5921 it .
5 And when his armorbearer H5375 saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ Saul H7586 was dead H4191 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS fell H5307 W-VQY3MS likewise H1571 CONJ on H5921 PREP the sword H2719 D-GFS , and died H4191 W-VQY3MS .
6 So Saul H7586 died H4191 W-VQY3MS , and his three H7969 W-RMS sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and all H3605 W-CMS his house H1004 NMS-3MS died H4191 VQQ3MP together H3162 ADV-3MS .
7 And when all H3605 NMS the men H376 NMS of Israel H3478 that H834 RPRO were in the valley H6010 saw H7200 W-VQY3MP that H3588 CONJ they fled H5127 , and that H3588 CONJ Saul H7586 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS were dead H4191 , then they forsook H5800 their cities H5892 , and fled H5127 W-VQY3MP : and the Philistines H6430 came H935 W-VQY3MP and dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MP in them .
8 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS on H4480 the morrow H4283 , when the Philistines H6430 came H935 W-VQY3MP to strip H6584 the slain H2491 , that they found H4672 Saul H7586 and his sons H1121 CMP-3MS fallen H5307 in mount H2022 Gilboa H1533 .
9 And when they had stripped H6584 him , they took H5375 W-VQY3MP his head H7218 CMS-3MS , and his armor H3627 , and sent H7971 into the land H776 B-GFS of the Philistines H6430 round about H5439 ADV , to carry tidings H1319 unto their idols H6091 , and to the people H5971 D-NMS .
10 And they put H7760 W-VQY3MP his armor H3627 in the house H1004 CMS of their gods H430 , and fastened H8628 his head H1538 in the temple H1004 CMS of Dagon H1712 .
11 And when all H3605 NMS Jabesh H3003 - gilead heard H8085 W-VQY3MP all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO the Philistines H6430 had done H6213 VQQ3MP to Saul H7586 ,
12 They arose H6965 , all H3605 NMS the valiant H2428 NMS men H376 NMS , and took away H5375 W-VQY3MP the body H1480 of Saul H7586 , and the bodies H1480 of his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and brought H935 them to Jabesh H3003 , and buried H6912 their bones H6106 under H8478 NMS the oak H424 in Jabesh H3003 , and fasted H6684 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP .
13 So Saul H7586 died H4191 W-VQY3MS for his transgression H4604 which H834 RPRO he committed H4603 against the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS , even against H5921 PREP the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , which H834 RPRO he kept H8104 not H3808 NADV , and also H1571 W-CONJ for asking H7592 counsel of one that had a familiar spirit H178 , to inquire H1875 of it ;
14 And inquired H1875 not H3808 W-NPAR of the LORD H3068 : therefore he slew H4191 him , and turned H5437 the kingdom H4410 unto David H1732 the son H1121 of Jesse H3448 .
