1 কৈসরিয়াতে কর্ণীলিয় নামে এক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন, তিনি ইতালীয় নামক সৈন্যদলের এক জন শতপতি।
2 তিনি ভক্ত ছিলেন, এবং সমস্ত পরিবারের সহিত ঈশ্বরকে ভয় করিতেন, তিনি লোকদিগকে বিস্তর দান করিতেন, এবং সর্ব্বদা ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করিতেন।
3 এক দিন বেলা অনুমান নবম ঘটিকার সময়ে তিনি দর্শনযোগে স্পষ্ট দেখিলেন যে, ঈশ্বরের এক দূত তাঁহার নিকটে ভিতরে আসিয়া বলিতেছেন, কর্ণীলিয়।
4 তখন তিনি তাঁহার প্রতি একদৃষ্টে চাহিয়া ভীত হইয়া কহিলেন, প্রভু, কি চান? দূত তাঁহাকে বলিলেন, তোমার প্রার্থনা ও তোমার দান সকল স্মরণীয়রূপে ঊর্দ্ধে ঈশ্বরের সম্মুখে উপস্থিত হইয়াছে।
5 আর এখন তুমি যাফোতে লোক পাঠাইয়া শিমোন, যাহাকে পিতর বলে, তাহাকে ডাকাইয়া আন;
6 সে শিমোন নামে এক জন চর্ম্মকারের বাটীতে অবস্থিতি করিতেছে, তাহার গৃহ সমুদ্রের ধারে।
7 কর্ণীলিয়ের সহিত যে দূত কথা কহিলেন, তিনি চলিয়া গেলে পর কর্ণীলিয় বাড়ীর চাকরদের মধ্যে দুই জনকে, এবং যাহারা সর্ব্বদা তাঁহার সেবা করিত, তাহাদের এক জন ভক্ত সেনাকে ডাকিলেন,
8 আর তাহাদিগকে সকল কথা বলিয়া যাফোতে পাঠাইয়া দিলেন।
9 পরদিন তাহারা পথে যাইতে যাইতে যখন নগরের নিকটে উপস্থিত হইল, তখন পিতর অনুমান ছয় ঘটিকার সময়ে প্রার্থনা করিবার নিমিত্ত ছাদের উপরে উঠিলেন।
10 তিনি ক্ষুধিত হইলেন, তাঁহার আহার করিবার ইচ্ছা হইল; কিন্তু লোকেরা খাদ্য প্রস্তুত করিতেছে, এমন সময়ে তিনি অভিভূত হইয়া পড়িলেন,
11 আর দেখিলেন, আকাশ খুলিয়া গিয়াছে, এবং একখানা বড় চাদরের মত কোন পাত্র নামিয়া আসিতেছে, তাহা চারি কোণে ধরিয়া পৃথিবীতে নামাইয়া দেওয়া হইতেছে;
12 আর তাহার মধ্যে পৃথিবীর সর্ব্বপ্রকার চতুষ্পদ ও সরীসৃপ এবং আকাশের পক্ষী আছে।
13 পরে তাঁহার প্রতি এই বাণী হইল, উঠ, পিতর, বধ করিয়া ভোজন কর।
14 কিন্তু পিতর কহিলেন, প্রভু, এমন না হউক; আমি কখনও কোন অপবিত্র কিম্বা অশুচি দ্রব্য ভোজন করি নাই।
15 তখন দ্বিতীয় বার তাঁহার প্রতি এই বাণী হইল, ঈশ্বর যাহা শুচি করিয়াছেন, তুমি তাহা অপবিত্র বলিও না।
16 এইরূপ তিন বার হইল, পরে তৎক্ষণাৎ ঐ পাত্র আকাশে তুলিয়া লওয়া হইল।
17 পিতর সেই যে দর্শন পাইয়াছিলেন, তাহার কি অর্থ হইতে পারে, এ বিষয়ে মনে মনে চিন্তা করিতেছিলেন, ইতিমধ্যে দেখ, কর্ণীলিয়ের প্রেরিত লোকেরা শিমোনের বাটীর অনুসন্ধান করিয়া ফটক দুয়ারে আসিয়া দাঁড়াইল,
18 আর ডাকিয়া জিজ্ঞাসা করিল, শিমোন যাঁহাকে পিতর বলে, তিনি কি এখানে অবস্থিতি করেন?
19 পিতর সেই দর্শনের বিষয় ভাবিতেছেন, এমন সময়ে আত্মা কহিলেন, দেখ, তিনটী লোক তোমার অন্বেষণ করিতেছে।
20 কিন্তু তুমি উঠিয়া নীচে যাও, তাহাদের সহিত গমন কর, কিছুমাত্র সন্দেহ করিও না, কারণ আমিই তাহাদিগকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছি।
21 তখন পিতর সেই লোকদের নিকটে নামিয়া গিয়া কহিলেন, দেখ, তোমরা যাহার অন্বেষণ করিতেছ, আমি সেই ব্যক্তি; তোমরা কি নিমিত্ত আসিয়াছ?
22 তাহারা কহিল, শতপতি কর্ণীলিয়, এক জন ধার্ম্মিক লোক, যিনি ঈশ্বরকে ভয় করেন, এবং সমস্ত যিহূদী জাতির মধ্যে যাঁহার সুখ্যাতি আছে, তিনি পবিত্র দূতের দ্বারা এমন আদেশ পাইয়াছেন, যেন আপনাকে ডাকাইয়া নিজ গৃহে আনিয়া আপনার মুখে কথা শুনেন।
23 তখন পিতর তাহাদিগকে ভিতরে ডাকিয়া লইয়া তাহাদের আতিথ্য করিলেন। পরদিন উঠিয়া তিনি তাহাদের সঙ্গে চলিলেন, আর যাফো-নিবাসী ভ্রাতৃগণের মধ্যে কয়েক জনও তাঁহার সঙ্গে গমন করিলেন।
24 পরদিন তাঁহারা কৈসরিয়াতে প্রবেশ করিলেন; তখন কর্ণীলিয় আপন জ্ঞাতিদিগকে ও আত্মীয় বন্ধুগণকে ডাকিয়া একত্র করিয়া তাঁহাদের অপেক্ষা করিতেছিলেন।
25 পরে পিতর যখন প্রবেশ করিলেন, তখন কর্ণীলিয় তাঁহার সহিত দেখা করিয়া তাঁহার চরণে পড়িয়া প্রণাম করিলেন।
26 কিন্তু পিতর তাঁহাকে উঠাইলেন, বলিলেন, উঠুন; আমি আপনিও মনুষ্য।
27 পরে তিনি তাঁহার সহিত আলাপ করিতে করিতে প্রবেশ করিয়া দেখিলেন, অনেক লোক সমাগত হইয়াছে।
28 তখন তিনি তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, আপনারা জানেন, অন্য জাতীয় কোন লোকের সঙ্গে যোগ দেওয়া কিম্বা তাহার কাছে আসা যিহূদী লোকের পক্ষে কেমন অবিধেয়; কিন্তু আমাকে ঈশ্বর দেখাইয়া দিয়াছেন যে, কোন মনুষ্যকে অপবিত্র কিম্বা অশুচি বলা অনুচিত।
29 এই নিমিত্ত আমাকে ডাকিয়া পাঠান হইলে আমি কোন আপত্তি না করিয়া আসিয়াছি; এখন জিজ্ঞাসা করি, আপনারা কি কারণ আমাকে ডাকিয়া পাঠাইয়াছেন?
30 তখন কর্ণীলিয় কহিলেন, অদ্য চারি দিন হইল, আমি এত বেলা পর্য্যন্ত নিজ গৃহ মধ্যে নবম ঘটিকার প্রার্থনা করিতেছিলাম, এমন সময়ে, দেখুন, তেজোময় বস্ত্র পরিহিত এক পুরুষ আমার সম্মুখে দাঁড়াইলেন; তিনি কহিলেন,
31 ‘কর্ণীলিয়, তোমার প্রার্থনা গ্রাহ্য হইয়াছে, এবং তোমার দান সকল ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষাতে স্মরণ করা হইয়াছে।
32 অতএব যাফোতে লোক পাঠাইয়া শিমোন, যাহাকে পিতর বলে, তাহাকে ডাকাইয়া আন; সে সমুদ্রের ধারে শিমোন চর্ম্মকারের বাটীতে অবস্থিতি করিতেছে।’
33 এই নিমিত্ত আমি অবিলম্বে আপনার নিকটে লোক পাঠাইয়া দিলাম; আপনি আসিয়াছেন, ভালই করিয়াছেন। অতএব এখন আমরা সকলে ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষাতে উপস্থিত আছি; প্রভু আপনাকে যে সকল আদেশ করিয়াছেন, তাহা শুনিব।
34 তখন পিতর মুখ খুলিয়া কহিলেন, আমি সত্যই বুঝিলাম, ঈশ্বর মুখাপেক্ষা করেন না;
35 কিন্তু প্রত্যেক জাতির মধ্যে যে কেহ তাঁহাকে ভয় করে ও ধর্ম্মাচরণ করে, সে তাঁহার গ্রাহ্য হয়।
36 তিনি ইস্রায়েলসন্তানগণের নিকটে একটী বাক্য প্রেরণ করিয়াছেন; যীশু খ্রীষ্ট দ্বারা সন্ধির সুসমাচার প্রচার করিয়াছেন; ইনিই সকলের প্রভু।
37 আপনারা সেই কথা জানেন, যাহা যোহনকর্ত্তৃক প্রচারিত বাপ্তিস্মের পর গালীল হইতে আরম্ভ হইয়া সমুদয় যিহূদিয়াতে ব্যাপিয়া গেল;
38 ফলতঃ নাসরতীয় যীশুর কথা, কিরূপে ঈশ্বর তাঁহাকে পবিত্র আত্মাতে ও পরাক্রমে অভিষেক করিয়াছিলেন; তিনি হিতকার্য্য করিয়া বেড়াইতেন, এবং দিয়াবল কর্ত্তৃক প্রপীড়িত সকল লোককে সুস্থ করিতেন; কারণ ঈশ্বর তাঁহার সহবর্ত্তী ছিলেন।
39 আর তিনি যিহূদীদের জনপদে ও যিরূশালেমে যাহা যাহা করিয়াছেন, আমরা সেই সকলের সাক্ষী; আবার লোকে তাঁহাকে গাছে টাঙ্গাইয়া বধ করিল।
40 তাঁহাকে ঈশ্বর তৃতীয় দিবসে উঠাইলেন, এবং প্রত্যক্ষ হইতে দিলেন;
41 সমস্ত লোকের প্রত্যক্ষ, এমন নয়, কিন্তু পূর্ব্বে ঈশ্বরকর্ত্তৃক নিযুক্ত সাক্ষীদের, অর্থাৎ আমাদের প্রত্যক্ষ হইতে দিলেন, আর আমরা মৃতদের মধ্য হইতে তাঁহার পুনরুত্থান হইলে পর তাঁহার সহিত ভোজন পান করিয়াছি।
42 আর তিনি আদেশ করিলেন, যেন আমরা লোকদের কাছে প্রচার করি ও সাক্ষ্য দিই যে, তাঁহাকেই ঈশ্বর জীবিত ও মৃতদিগের বিচারকর্ত্তা নিযুক্ত করিয়াছেন।
43 তাঁহার পক্ষে ভাববাদীরা সকলে এই সাক্ষ্য দেন, যে কেহ তাঁহাতে বিশ্বাস করে, সে তাঁহার নামের গুণে পাপমোচন প্রাপ্ত হয়।
44 পিতর এই কথা কহিতেছেন, এমন সময়ে যত লোক বাক্য শুনিতেছিল, সকলের উপরে পবিত্র আত্মা পতিত হইলেন।
45 তখন পিতরের সহিত আগত বিশ্বাসী ছিন্নত্বক্‌ লোক সকল চমৎকৃত হইলেন, কারণ পরজাতীয়দের উপরেও পবিত্র আত্মারূপ দানের সেচন হইল;
46 কেননা তাঁহারা উহাঁদিগকে নানা ভাষায় কথা কহিতে ও ঈশ্বরের মহিমা কীর্ত্তন করিতে শুনিলেন।
47 তখন পিতর উত্তর করিলেন, এই যে লোকেরা আমাদেরই ন্যায় পবিত্র আত্মা প্রাপ্ত হইয়াছেন, কেহ কি জল নিবারণ করিয়া ইহাঁদের বাপ্তাইজিত হইবার বাধা দিতে পারে?
48 পরে তিনি যীশু খ্রীষ্টের নামে তাঁহাদিগকে বাপ্তাইজ করিবার আজ্ঞা দিলেন। তখন তাঁহারা কয়েক দিন অবস্থিতি করিতে তাঁহাকে বিনতি করিলেন।

29 Therefore G1352 G2532 came G2064 I unto you without gainsaying, G369 as soon as I was sent for: G3343 I ask G4441 therefore G3767 for what G5101 intent G3056 ye have sent for G3343 me G3165 ?
30 And G2532 Cornelius G2883 said, G5346 Four G5067 days G2250 ago G575 I was G2252 fasting G3522 until G3360 this G5026 hour; G5610 and G2532 at the G3588 ninth G1766 hour G5610 I prayed G4336 in G1722 my G3450 house, G3624 and, G2532 behold, G2400 a man G435 stood G2476 before G1799 me G3450 in G1722 bright G2986 clothing, G2066
