1 আর মাদীয় দারিয়াবসের প্রথম বৎসরে আমিই তাঁহাকে সবল ও শক্তিমান্‌ করিতে দাঁড়াইয়াছিলাম।

2 যাহা হউক, এখন আমি তোমাকে সত্য কথা জ্ঞাত করিব। দেখ, পারস্যে আর তিন রাজা উৎপন্ন হইবে, আর চতুর্থ রাজা সর্ব্বাপেক্ষা অধিক ধনশালী হইবে, এবং আপন ধনে শক্তিমান্‌ হইলে যবন-রাজ্যের বিরুদ্ধে সকলকে উত্তেজিত করিবে।

3 পরে বীর্য্যবান্‌ এক রাজা উৎপন্ন হইবে, সে মহাকর্ত্তৃত্ব-বিশিষ্ট কর্ত্তা হইবে ও স্বেচ্ছানুসারে কর্ম্ম করিবে।

4 সে উৎপন্ন হইলে তাহার রাজ্য ভগ্ন হইবে, আকাশের চারি বায়ুর দিকে বিভক্ত হইবে, কিন্তু তাহার বংশের নিমিত্ত নয়, আর সে যে কর্ত্তৃত্ব করিত, তদনুসারে নয়; বস্তুতঃ তাহার রাজ্য উৎপাটিত হইয়া উহাদের নয়, কিন্তু অন্যদের হইবে।

5 আর দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজা বলবান হইবে, কিন্তু তাহার অধ্যক্ষদের মধ্যে এক জন তাহা হইতেও বলবান হইয়া প্রভুত্ব পাইবে, তাহার প্রভুত্ব মহাপ্রভুত্ব হইবে।

6 আর, বৎসরনিচয়ের শেষে তাহারা পরস্পর সম্বন্ধ পাতাইবে, আর মিলন করণার্থে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজার কন্যা উত্তর দেশের রাজার কাছে গমন করিবে; কিন্তু সে কন্যা নিজের বাহুবল রক্ষা করিবে না, এবং সে রাজা ও তাহার বাহু স্থায়ী হইবে না; কিন্তু সেই মহিলা, এবং যাহারা তাহাকে আনিয়াছিল, আর যে তাহার জন্ম দিয়াছিল, ও যে তৎকালে তাহাকে বল দিয়াছিল, সকলে সমর্পিত হইবে।

7 তথাপি তাহার মূলের এক পল্লব হইতে এক জন তাহার পদে উৎপন্ন হইবে, আর সৈন্যের বিরুদ্ধে আসিয়া উত্তর দেশের রাজার দুর্গে প্রবেশ করিবে, এবং সেই সকলের বিপক্ষে ব্যাপৃত হইয়া পরাক্রম দেখাইবে।

8 আর সে তাহাদের ঢালা প্রতিমাগণের সহিত, তাহাদের রৌপ্য ও স্বর্ণের নানা রমণীয় পাত্রের সহিত তাহাদের দেবগণকে বন্দি করিয়া মিসরে লইয়া যাইবে, পরে কয়েক বৎসর উত্তর দেশের রাজা হইতে নিবৃত্ত থাকিবে।

9 আর সে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজার রাজ্যে প্রবেশ করিবে, কিন্তু নিজ দেশে ফিরিয়া যাইবে।

10 তাহার পুত্রগণ যুদ্ধ করিবে, এবং বিপুল বলসমারোহ সংগ্রহ করিবে; তাহারা আসিবে, উথলিয়া উঠিয়া বাড়িতে থাকিবে, এবং তাহারা ফিরিয়া আসিবে, ও তাহার দুর্গ পর্য্যন্ত যুদ্ধ করিবে।

11 তাহাতে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজা ক্রোধাবিষ্ট হইবে, এবং যাত্রা করিয়া তাহার সহিত, উত্তর দেশের রাজার সহিত, সংগ্রাম করিবে, সেও মহাসমারোহে একত্র করিবে, কিন্তু সেই সমারোহ উহার হস্তে সমর্পিত হইবে।

12 ঐ সমারোহ নীত হইবে ও সে উদ্ধতচিত্ত হইবে, আর সহস্র সহস্র লোককে নিপাত করিবে, তথাপি প্রবল থাকিবে না।

13 উত্তর দেশের রাজা ফিরিয়া আসিবে, এবং প্রথম সমারোহ অপেক্ষা বৃহৎ সমারোহ একত্র করিবে; আর কাল-পর্য্যায়ের শেষে, বৎসরনিচয়ের শেষে, মহাসৈন্য ও প্রচুর সামগ্রী লইয়া আসিবে।

14 তৎকালে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজার বিরুদ্ধে অনেক লোক উঠিবে; এবং এই দর্শন যাহাতে সফল হয়, সেই জন্য তোমার জাতির মধ্যে দুর্জ্জন-সন্তানেরা আপনাদিগকে উচ্চ করিবে, কিন্তু তাহারা পতিত হইবে।

15 এইরূপে উত্তর দেশের রাজা আসিবে, জাঙ্গাল বাঁধিবে, এবং সুদৃঢ় নগর হস্তগত করিবে; তাহাতে দক্ষিণ দেশের সৈন্য ও তাহার মনোনীত লোকেরা স্থির থাকিবে না, স্থির থাকিতে তাহাদের শক্তি হইবে না।

16 কিন্তু যে তাহার বিরুদ্ধে আসিবে, সে স্বেচ্ছানুসারে কার্য্য করিবে, তাহার সাক্ষাতে কেহ দাঁড়াইতে পারিবে না; আর সে দেশরত্নে দণ্ডায়মান হইবে, ও তাহার হস্তে বিনাশ থাকিবে।

17 পরে সে আপন সমস্ত রাজ্যের পরাক্রম সঙ্গে করিয়া আসিবার জন্য উন্মুখ হইবে, ও তাহার সহিত সাম্য-নিয়ম স্থাপন করিবে; এবং বিনাশ করিবার নিমিত্ত উহাকে নারীগণের কন্যা দিবে, কিন্তু এটা স্থির থাকিবে না, ও তাহার হইবে না।

18 পরে সে উপকূল-সমূহের বিরুদ্ধে গিয়া অনেককে হস্তগত করিবে; কিন্তু এক সেনাপতি তাহার কৃত টিটকারি নিবৃত্ত করিবে, এমন কি, সে তাহার টিটকারি তাহারই উপরে ফিরাইয়া দিবে।

19 তখন সে আপন দেশের দুর্গ সকলের প্রতি মুখ ফিরাইবে; কিন্তু উছোট খাইয়া পড়িবে, তাহার উদ্দেশ আর পাওয়া যাইবে না।

20 পরে এমন এক জন তাহার পদ প্রাপ্ত হইবে, যে রাজ্যের শোভাস্থানে প্রজাপীড়ককে প্রেরণ করিবে, কিন্তু সে অল্প দিনের মধ্যে বিনষ্ট হইবে, ক্রোধেও নয়, যুদ্ধেও নয়।

21 পরে এক জন তুচ্ছ ব্যক্তি তাহার পদ পাইবে। তাহাকে রাজ্যের প্রভা দত্ত হয় নাই, কিন্তু সে নিশ্চিন্ততার সময়ে আসিয়া চাটুবাদ দ্বারা রাজ্য লাভ করিবে;

22 তাহার সম্মুখ হইতে আপ্লাবনকারী সৈন্য সকল আপ্লাবিত হইয়া ভগ্ন হইবে, এবং নিয়মের নায়কও ভগ্ন হইবে।

23 তাহার সহিত মিত্রতার কথা স্থির করণাবধি সে ছলনা করিবে, কারণ সে আসিয়া অল্প লোক দ্বারা পরাক্রমী হইবে।

24 সে নিশ্চিন্ততার সময়ে প্রদেশের অতি উত্তম উত্তম স্থানে প্রবেশ করিবে, এবং তাহার পিতৃপুরুষেরা এবং পিতৃপুরুষদের পিতৃপুরুষেরাও যাহা করে নাই, তাহা করিবে; সে লোকদের মধ্যে লুটদ্রব্য, হৃতবস্তু এবং সম্পত্তি বিকীর্ণ করিবে, দৃঢ় দুর্গ সকলের বিরুদ্ধে কৌশল কল্পনা করিবে, কিছু কাল করিবে।

25 আর সে অনেক সৈন্য সঙ্গে লইয়া দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজার বিরুদ্ধে আপন বল ও চিত্ত উত্তেজিত করিবে; তাহাতে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজা অতি পরাক্রান্ত বিস্তর সৈন্য সঙ্গে লইয়া যুদ্ধ করিবে, কিন্তু স্থির থাকিবে না, কেননা তাহারা তাহার বিরুদ্ধে নানা কৌশল কল্পনা করিবে।

26 যাহারা তাহার আহারীয় দ্রব্যের ভাগী, তাহারাই তাহাকে বিনষ্ট করিবে, ও উহার সৈন্য আপ্লাবন করিবে; এবং অনেকে নিহত হইয়া পড়িবে।

27 আর এই দুই রাজার চিত্ত হিংসাপূর্ণ হইবে, এবং তাহারা এক মেজে বসিয়া মিথ্যাকথা কহিবে, কিন্তু তাহা সফল হইবে না, কেননা তখনও শেষ নিরূপিত কালের অপেক্ষা করিবে।

28 আর সে অনেক সম্পত্তি লইয়া আপন দেশে ফিরিয়া যাইবে, ও তাহার অন্তঃকরণ পবিত্র নিয়মের বিপক্ষ হইবে, এবং যে কার্য্য করিয়া আপন দেশে ফিরিয়া যাইবে।

29 নিরূপিত কালে সে ফিরিয়া আসিবে, দক্ষিণ দেশে প্রবেশ করিবে, কিন্তু পূর্ব্বকালে যেমন ছিল, উত্তরকালে তেমন হইবে না।

30 কারণ কিত্তীমের জাহাজ সকল তাহার বিরুদ্ধে আসিবে, এজন্য সে বিষণ্ণ হইয়া ফিরিয়া যাইবে, ও পবিত্র নিয়মের বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধ করিয়া কার্য্য করিবে; সে ফিরিয়া আসিবে, যাহারা পবিত্র নিয়ম ত্যাগ করে, তাহাদের প্রতি মনোযোগ করিবে।

31 আর তাহার নিকট হইতে সৈন্যগণ উঠিবে, ধর্ম্মধাম অর্থাৎ দুর্গ অশুচি করিবে, নিত্য নৈবেদ্য নিবৃত্ত করিবে, এবং ধ্বংসকারী ঘৃণার্হ বস্তু স্থাপন করিবে।

32 যাহারা সেই নিয়ম সম্বন্ধে দুষ্কার্য্য করে, সে তাহাদিগকে চাটুবাদ দ্বারা ভ্রষ্ট করিবে, কিন্তু যে প্রজারা আপন ঈশ্বরকে জানে, তাহারা বলবান হইয়া কার্য্য করিবে।

33 আর প্রজাদের মধ্যে যাহারা বুদ্ধিমান, তাহারা অনেককে উপদেশ দিবে; তথাপি কিছু দিন পর্য্যন্ত তাহারা খড়্‌গে ও অগ্নিশিখায়, বন্দিদশায় ও লুটে পতিত হইবে।

34 যখন পড়িবে, তখন তাহারা অল্প সাহায্য প্রাপ্ত হইবে, আর অনেকে চাটুবাদ দ্বারা তাহাদিগেতে আসক্ত হইবে।

35 আর বুদ্ধিমানদের মধ্যে কেহ কেহ পতিত হইবে, যেন তাহারা পরীক্ষাসিদ্ধ, পরিষ্কৃত ও শুক্লীকৃত হয়; শেষ পর্য্যন্ত হইা হইবে; কেননা তখনও নিরূপিত কালের অপেক্ষা করা যাইবে।

36 আর সেই রাজা স্বেচ্ছানুযায়ী কর্ম্ম করিবে, ও সমস্ত দেবতা অপেক্ষা আপনাকে বড় করিয়া দেখাইবে, ও দর্প করিবে, এবং ঈশ্বরদের ঈশ্বরের বিপরীতে অদ্ভুত কথা কহিবে, আর ক্রোধ সম্পন্ন না হওয়া পর্য্যন্ত কুশলপ্রাপ্ত থাকিবে; কেননা যাহা নিরূপিত, তাহাই করা যাইবে।

37 আর সে আপন পিতৃপুরুষদের দেবগণকে মানিবে না, এবং স্ত্রীলোকদের কামনাকে কিম্বা কোন দেবতাকে মানিবে না; কেননা সে সর্ব্বাপেক্ষা আপনাকেই বড় করিয়া দেখাইবে।

38 কিন্তু সে স্বস্থানে দুর্গ-দেবের সম্মান করিবে, এবং আপন পিতৃপুরুষদের অজ্ঞাত দেবকে স্বর্ণ, রৌপ্য, মণি ও মনোরম্য বস্তু দিয়া সম্মান করিবে।

39 আর সে বিজাতীয় দেবের সাহায্যে অতি দৃঢ় দুর্গ সকলের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যাপৃত হইবে; যত লোক তাহাকে স্বীকার করিবে, তাহাদিগকে সে অতি সম্মানিত করিবে; তাহাদিগকে অনেকের উপরে কর্ত্তৃত্বপদ দিবে, ও পারিতোষিকরূপে ভূমি বিভাগ করিয়া দিবে।

40 পরে শেষকালে দক্ষিণ দেশের রাজা তাহাকে ঢুসাইবে; আর উত্তর দেশের রাজা রথের, অশ্বারোহীদের ও অনেক জাহাজের সহিত ঘূর্ণ্যবায়ুর ন্যায় তাহার বিরুদ্ধে আসিবে; এবং নানা দেশের মধ্যে প্রবেশ করিবে ও উথলিয়া উঠিয়া বাড়িতে থাকিবে।

41 সে রত্নস্বরূপ দেশেও প্রবেশ করিবে, তাহাতে অনেক দেশ পরাভূত হইবে, কিন্তু ইদোম ও মোয়াব এবং অম্মোন-সন্তানদের শ্রেষ্ঠাংশ তাহার হস্ত হইতে রক্ষা পাইবে।

42 আর সে নানা দেশের উপরে হস্ত প্রসারণ করিবে, আর মিসর দেশ রক্ষা পাইবে না।

43 মিস্রীয়দের স্বর্ণ ও রৌপ্যের ভাণ্ডার সকল ও সমস্ত রত্ন তাহার হস্তগত হইবে, এবং লুবীয়েরা ও কূশীয়েরা তাহার অনুচর হইবে।

44 কিন্তু পূর্ব্ব ও উত্তর দেশ হইতে আগত সংবাদ তাহাকে বিহ্বল করিবে, এবং সে অনেককে উচ্ছিন্ন ও নিঃশেষে বিনষ্ট করণার্থে মহাক্রোধে যাত্রা করিবে।

45 আর সে সমুদ্রের ও পবিত্র গিরিরত্নের মধ্যে রাজকীয় তাম্বু স্থাপন করিবে; তথাপি তাহার শেষকাল উপস্থিত হইবে, কেহ তাহার সাহায্য করিবে না।

16 But he that cometh ^H935 against ^H413 him shall do ^H6213 according to his own will, ^H7522 and none ^H369 shall stand ^H5975 before ^H6440 him : and he shall stand ^H5975 in the glorious ^H6643 land, ^H776 which by his hand ^H3027 shall be consumed. ^H3615

17 He shall also set ^H7760 his face ^H6440 to enter ^H935 with the strength ^H8633 of his whole ^H3605 kingdom, ^H4438 and upright ones ^H3477 with ^H5973 him ; thus shall he do: ^H6213 and he shall give ^H5414 him the daughter ^H1323 of women, ^H802 corrupting ^H7843 her : but she shall not ^H3808 stand ^H5975 on his side , neither ^H3808 be ^H1961 for him.

19 Then he shall turn ^H7725 his face ^H6440 toward the fort ^H4581 of his own land: ^H776 but he shall stumble ^H3782 and fall, ^H5307 and not ^H3808 be found. ^H4672

20 Then shall stand up ^H5975 in ^H5921 his estate ^H3653 a raiser ^H5674 of taxes ^H5065 in the glory ^H1925 of the kingdom: ^H4438 but within few ^H259 days ^H3117 he shall be destroyed, ^H7665 neither ^H3808 in anger, ^H639 nor ^H3808 in battle. ^H4421

26 Yea , they that feed ^H398 of the portion of his meat ^H6598 shall destroy ^H7665 him , and his army ^H2428 shall overflow: ^H7857 and many ^H7227 shall fall down ^H5307 slain. ^H2491

27 And both ^H8147 these kings' ^H4428 hearts ^H3824 shall be to do mischief, ^H4827 and they shall speak ^H1696 lies ^H3577 at ^H5921 one ^H259 table; ^H7979 but it shall not ^H3808 prosper: ^H6743 for ^H3588 yet ^H5750 the end ^H7093 shall be at the time appointed. ^H4150

28 Then shall he return ^H7725 into his land ^H776 with great ^H1419 riches; ^H7399 and his heart ^H3824 shall be against ^H5921 the holy ^H6944 covenant; ^H1285 and he shall do ^H6213 exploits , and return ^H7725 to his own land. ^H776

29 At the time appointed ^H4150 he shall return, ^H7725 and come ^H935 toward the south; ^H5045 but it shall not ^H3808 be ^H1961 as the former, ^H7223 or as the latter. ^H314

30 For the ships ^H6716 of Chittim ^H3794 shall come ^H935 against him : therefore he shall be grieved, ^H3512 and return, ^H7725 and have indignation ^H2194 against ^H5921 the holy ^H6944 covenant: ^H1285 so shall he do; ^H6213 he shall even return, ^H7725 and have intelligence ^H995 with ^H5921 them that forsake ^H5800 the holy ^H6944 covenant. ^H1285

31 And arms ^H2220 shall stand ^H5975 on his part, ^H4480 and they shall pollute ^H2490 the sanctuary ^H4720 of strength, ^H4581 and shall take away ^H5493 the daily ^H8548 sacrifice , and they shall place ^H5414 the abomination ^H8251 that maketh desolate. ^H8074

32 And such as do wickedly against ^H7561 the covenant ^H1285 shall he corrupt ^H2610 by flatteries: ^H2514 but the people ^H5971 that do know ^H3045 their God ^H430 shall be strong, ^H2388 and do ^H6213 exploits .

33 And they that understand ^H7919 among the people ^H5971 shall instruct ^H995 many: ^H7227 yet they shall fall ^H3782 by the sword, ^H2719 and by flame, ^H3852 by captivity, ^H7628 and by spoil, ^H961 many days. ^H3117

34 Now when they shall fall, ^H3782 they shall be helped ^H5826 with a little ^H4592 help: ^H5828 but many ^H7227 shall cleave ^H3867 to ^H5921 them with flatteries. ^H2519

37 Neither shall he regard ^H5921 ^H3808 ^H995 the God ^H430 of his fathers, ^H1 nor the desire ^H2532 of women, ^H802 nor regard any ^H3605 ^H3808 ^H995 god: ^H433 for ^H3588 he shall magnify himself ^H1431 above ^H5921 all. ^H3605

38 But in ^H5921 his estate ^H3653 shall he honor ^H3513 the God ^H433 of forces: ^H4581 and a god ^H433 whom ^H834 his fathers ^H1 knew ^H3045 not ^H3808 shall he honor ^H3513 with gold, ^H2091 and silver, ^H3701 and with precious ^H3368 stones, ^H68 and pleasant things. ^H2530

39 Thus shall he do ^H6213 in the most strong holds ^H4013 ^H4581 with ^H5973 a strange ^H5236 god, ^H433 whom ^H834 he shall acknowledge ^H5234 and increase ^H7235 with glory: ^H3519 and he shall cause them to rule ^H4910 over many, ^H7227 and shall divide ^H2505 the land ^H127 for gain. ^H4242

40 And at the time ^H6256 of the end ^H7093 shall the king ^H4428 of the south ^H5045 push ^H5055 at ^H5973 him : and the king ^H4428 of the north ^H6828 shall come against him like a whirlwind ^H8175 ^H5921 , with chariots, ^H7393 and with horsemen, ^H6571 and with many ^H7227 ships; ^H591 and he shall enter ^H935 into the countries, ^H776 and shall overflow ^H7857 and pass over. ^H5674

41 He shall enter ^H935 also into the glorious ^H6643 land, ^H776 and many ^H7227 countries shall be overthrown: ^H3782 but these ^H428 shall escape ^H4422 out of his hand ^H4480 ^H3027 , even Edom, ^H123 and Moab, ^H4124 and the chief ^H7225 of the children ^H1121 of Ammon. ^H5983

42 He shall stretch forth ^H7971 his hand ^H3027 also upon the countries: ^H776 and the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 shall not ^H3808 escape ^H1961 ^H6413 .

43 But he shall have power ^H4910 over the treasures ^H4362 of gold ^H2091 and of silver, ^H3701 and over all ^H3605 the precious things ^H2530 of Egypt: ^H4714 and the Libyans ^H3864 and the Ethiopians ^H3569 shall be at his steps. ^H4703

44 But tidings ^H8052 out of the east ^H4480 ^H4217 and out of the north ^H4480 ^H6828 shall trouble ^H926 him : therefore he shall go forth ^H3318 with great ^H1419 fury ^H2534 to destroy, ^H8045 and utterly to make away ^H2763 many. ^H7227

45 And he shall plant ^H5193 the tabernacles ^H168 of his palace ^H643 between ^H996 the seas ^H3220 in the glorious ^H6643 holy ^H6944 mountain; ^H2022 yet he shall come ^H935 to ^H5704 his end, ^H7093 and none ^H369 shall help ^H5826 him.
