1 কারণ সদাপ্রভু যাকোবের প্রতি করুণা করিবেন, ইস্রায়েলকে পুনর্ব্বার মনোনীত করিবেন, এবং তাহাদের দেশে তাহাদিগকে বসাইয়া দিবেন; তাহাতে বিদেশী লোক তাহাদিগেতে আসক্ত হইবে, তাহারা যাকোবের কুলের সহিত সংযুক্ত হইবে।

2 আর জাতিগণ তাহাদিগকে লইয়া তাহাদের স্থানে পৌঁছাইয়া দিবে, এবং ইস্রায়েল-কুল সদাপ্রভুর দেশে তাহাদিগকে দাসদাসীর ন্যায় অধিকার করিবে; আপনারা যাহাদের কাছে বন্দি ছিল, তাহাদিগকে বন্দি করিবে, আর আপনাদের উপদ্রবকারীদের উপরে কর্ত্তৃত্ব করিবে।

3 যে দিন সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে দুঃখ ও উদ্বেগ হইতে, এবং যে কঠোর দাসত্বে তুমি বদ্ধ ছিলে, তাহা হইতে বিশ্রাম দিবেন,

4 সেই দিন তুমি বাবিল-রাজের বিরুদ্ধে এই প্রবাদ লইয়া বলিবে, আহা, উপদ্রবকারী কেমন শেষ হইয়াছে! অপহারিণী কেমন শেষ হইয়াছে!

5 সদাপ্রভু দুষ্টদের দণ্ড ভাঙ্গিয়াছেন, শাসনকর্ত্তাদের রাজদণ্ড ভগ্ন করিয়াছেন।

6 সে ক্রোধে প্রজাদিগকে আঘাত করিত, আঘাত করিতে ক্ষান্ত হইত না, সে কোপে জাতিগণকে শাসন করিত, আনিবার তাড়না করিত।

7 সমস্ত পৃথিবী শান্ত ও সুস্থির হইয়াছে, সকলে উচ্চৈঃস্বরে আনন্দগান করিতেছে।

8 দেবদারু ও লিবানোনের এরস বৃক্ষ সকলও তোমার বিষয়ে আনন্দ করে, বলে, যে অবধি তুমি ভূমিসাৎ হইয়াছ, আমাদের নিকটে কোন ছেদনকর্ত্তা আইসে না।

9 অধঃস্থ পাতাল তোমার জন্য বিচলিত হয়, তোমার আগমনে তোমার সম্মুখে উপস্থিত হয়; তোমার নিমিত্ত প্রেতগণকে, পৃথিবীর প্রধান সকলকে সচেতন করে, জাতিগণের রাজা সকলকে আপন আপন সিংহাসন হইতে উঠাইয়াছে।

10 তাহারা সকলে উত্তর করিয়া তোমাকে বলে, তুমিও কি আমাদের ন্যায় ক্ষীণবল হইলে? তুমিও কি আমাদের সমান হইলে?

11 পাতালে নামান হইল তোমার ঘটা, ও তোমার নেবল যন্ত্রের মধুর বাদ্য; কীট তোমার নীচে পাতা রহিয়াছে, কৃমি তোমাকে ঢাকিয়াছে।

12 হে প্রভাতি-তারা! ঊষা-নন্দন! তুমি ত স্বর্গভ্রষ্ট হইয়াছ! হে জাতিগণের নিপাতনকারী, তুমি ছিন্ন ও ভূপাতিত হইয়াছ!

13 তুমি মনে মনে বলিয়াছিলে, ‘আমি স্বর্গারোহণ করিব, ঈশ্বরের নক্ষত্রগণের ঊর্দ্ধে আমার সিংহাসন উন্নত করিব; সমাগম-পর্ব্বতে, উত্তরদিকের প্রান্তে, উপবিষ্ট হইব;

14 আমি মেঘরূপ উচ্চস্থলীর উপরে উঠিব, আমি পরাৎপরের তুল্য হইব।’

15 তুমি ত নামান যাইবে পাতালে, গর্ত্তের গভীরতম তলে।

16 তোমাকে দেখিলে লোকে একদৃষ্টিতে তোমার প্রতি নিরীক্ষণ করিবে, তোমার বিষয়ে বিবেচনা করিবে, এ কি সেই পুরুষ, যে পৃথিবীকে কম্পান্বিত করিত, রাজ্য সকল বিচলিত করিত,

17 জগৎকে নির্জ্জন স্থানের ন্যায় করিত, জগতের নগর সকল উৎপাটন করিত, বন্দিদিগকে বাটী যাইতে দিত না?’

18 জাতিগণের সমুদয় রাজা, সকলেই সসম্মানে, প্রত্যেকে স্ব স্ব আগারে শয়ন করিতেছেন;

19 কিন্তু তুমি আপন কবর-স্থান হইতে দূরে নিক্ষিপ্ত, কুৎসিত পল্লবের সদৃশ, তুমি সেই নিহতদের দ্বারা আচ্ছাদিত, যাহারা খড়্‌গবিদ্ধ, যাহারা গর্ত্তের প্রস্তররাশিতে নামিয়া যায়; তুমি পদদলিত শবের তুল্য হইয়াছ।

20 তুমি উহাঁদের সহিত কবরস্থ হইবে না; কারণ তুমি স্বদেশ উচ্ছিন্ন করিয়াছ, আপন লোকদিগকে বধ করিয়াছ; দুরাচারদের বংশের নাম কোন কালে লওয়া হইবে না।

21 তোমরা উহার সন্তানদের জন্য বধস্থান প্রস্তুত কর, উহাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের অপরাধ প্রযুক্ত কর; তাহারা উঠিয়া পৃথিবী অধিকার না করুক, জগৎকে নগরে পরিপূর্ণ না করুক।

22 আর বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু কহেন, আমি তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে উঠিব; আমি বাবিলের নাম ও অবশিষ্টাংশ, পুত্র ও পৌত্রকে উচ্ছিন্ন করিব, ইহা সদাপ্রভু কহেন।

23 আর আমি ঐ নগর শজারুর অধিকার করিব, জলাভূমি করিব, সংহাররূপ মার্জ্জনী দ্বারা মার্জ্জন করিব, ইহা বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু কহেন।

24 বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু শপথ করিয়া বলিয়াছেন, অবশ্যই, আমি যেরূপ সঙ্কল্প করিয়াছি, তদ্রূপ ঘটিবে; আমি যে মন্ত্রণা করিয়াছি, তাহা স্থির থাকিবে।

25 ফলতঃ আমার দেশে অশূরীয়কে ভাঙ্গিয়া ফেলিব, আমার পর্ব্বতমালায় তাহাকে পদদলিত করিব; তাহাতে লোকদের স্কন্ধ হইতে তাহার যোঁয়ালি দূর হইবে, এবং তাহাদের গ্রীবা হইতে তাহার ভার সরিয়া পড়িবে।

26 সমস্ত পৃথিবীর বিষয়ে এই মন্ত্রণা স্থির হইয়াছে, ও সমস্ত জাতির উপরে এই হস্ত বিস্তারিত আছে।

27 কারণ বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভুই মন্ত্রণা করিয়াছেন, কে তাহা ব্যর্থ করিবে? তাঁহারই হস্ত বিস্তারিত হইয়াছে, কে তাহা ফিরাইবে?

28 যে বৎসর আহস রাজার মৃত্যু হয়, সেই বৎসরের এই ভাববাণী।

29 হে পলেষ্টিয়া, যে দণ্ড তোমাকে প্রহার করিত, তাহা ভগ্ন হইয়াছে বলিয়া সর্ব্বসাধারণে আনন্দ করিও না; কেননা সেই মূল-সর্প হইতে কেউটিয়া সর্প উৎপন্ন হইবে, এবং জ্বলন্ত উড়ুক্কু সর্প তাহার ফল হইবে।

30 দীনহীনদের জ্যেষ্ঠ সন্তানেরা ভোজন করিবে, ও দরিদ্রগণ নির্ভয়ে শয়ন করিবে; আর আমি দুর্ভিক্ষ দ্বারা তোমার মূল হনন করিব, এবং তোমার অবশিষ্টাংশ হত হইবে।

31 হে পুরদ্বার, হাহাকার কর; হে নগর, ক্রন্দন কর; হে পলেষ্টিয়া, তুমি বিলীন, তোমার সমুদয় বিলীন; কেননা উত্তর দিক্‌ হইতে ধূম আসিতেছে, আর উহার শ্রেণী হইতে কেহ সরিয়া যায় না।

32 আর এই জাতির দূতগণকে কি উত্তর দেওয়া যাইবে? সদাপ্রভু সিয়োনের ভিত্তিমূল স্থাপন করিয়াছেন; এবং তাঁহার দুঃখী প্রজাগণ তাহার মধ্যে আশ্রয় লইবে।
