1 পরে নিস্তারপর্ব্বের ছয় দিন পূর্ব্বে যীশু বৈথনিয়াতে আসিলেন; সেখানে সেই লাসার ছিলেন, যাঁহাকে যীশু মৃতগণের মধ্য হইতে উঠাইয়াছিলেন।
2 তাহাতে সেই স্থানে তাঁহার নিমিত্ত ভোজ প্রস্তুত করা হইল, ও মার্থা পরিচর্য্যা করিলেন, এবং যাহারা তাঁহার সঙ্গে ভোজনে বসিয়াছিল, লাসার তাহাদের মধ্যে এক জন ছিলেন।
3 তখন মরিয়ম অর্দ্ধ সের বহুমূল্য জটামাংসীর আতর আনিয়া যীশুর চরণে মাখাইয়া দিলেন, এবং আপন কেশ দ্বারা তাঁহার চরণ মুছাইয়া দিলেন; তাহাতে আতরের সুগন্ধে গৃহ পরিপূর্ণ হইল।
4 কিন্তু ঈষ্করিয়োতীয় যিহূদা, তাঁহার শিষ্যদের মধ্যে এক জন, যে তাঁহাকে শত্রুহস্তে সমর্পণ করিবে, সে কহিল,
5 এই আতর তিন শত সিকিতে বিক্রয় করিয়া কেন দরিদ্রদিগকে দেওয়া গেল না?
6 সে যে দরিদ্র লোকদের জন্য চিন্তা করিত বলিয়া এই কথা কহিল, তাহা নয়; কিন্তু কারণ এই, সে চোর, আর তাহার নিকটে টাকার থলী থাকাতে তাহার মধ্যে যাহা রাখা যাইত, তাহা হরণ করিত।
7 তখন যীশু কহিলেন, আমার সমাধি-দিনের জন্য ইহাকে উহা রাখিতে দেও।
8 কেননা তোমাদের কাছে দরিদ্রেরা সর্ব্বদাই আছে, কিন্তু আমাকে সর্ব্বদা পাইতেছ না।
9 যিহূদীদের সাধারণ লোকেরা জানিতে পারিল যে, তিনি সেই স্থানে আছেন; আর তাহারা কেবল যীশুর নিমিত্ত আসিল, তাহা নয়, কিন্তু যে লাসারকে তিনি মৃতগণের মধ্য হইতে উঠাইয়াছিলেন, তাঁহাকেও দেখিতে আসিল।
10 কিন্তু প্রধান যাজকেরা মন্ত্রণা করিল, যেন লাসারকেও বধ করিতে পারে;
11 কেননা তাঁহারই নিমিত্ত যিহূদীদের মধ্যে অনেকে গিয়া যীশুতে বিশ্বাস করিতে লাগিল।
12 পরদিন পর্ব্বে আগত বিস্তর লোক, যীশু যিরূশালেমে আসিতেছেন শুনিতে পাইয়া,
13 খর্জ্জুর-পত্র লইয়া তাঁহার সহিত সাক্ষাৎ করিতে বাহির হইল, আর উচ্চৈঃস্বরে বলিতে লাগিল, হোশান্না; ধন্য তিনি, যিনি প্রভুর নামে আসিতেছেন, যিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজা।
14 তখন যীশু একটী গর্দ্দভশাবক পাইয়া তাহার উপরে বসিলেন, যেমন লেখা আছে,
15 “অয়ি সিয়োন-কন্যে, ভয় করিও না, দেখ, তোমার রাজা আসিতেছেন, গর্দ্দভ-শাবকে চড়িয়া আসিতেছেন।”
16 তাঁহার শিষ্যেরা প্রথমে এই সমস্ত বুঝিলেন না, কিন্তু যীশু যখন মহিমান্বিত হইলেন, তখন তাঁহাদের স্মরণ হইল যে, তাঁহার বিষয়ে এই সকল লিখিত ছিল, আর লোকেরা তাঁহার প্রতি এই সকল করিয়াছে।
17 তিনি যখন লাসারকে কবর হইতে আসিতে ডাকেন, এবং মৃতগণের মধ্য হইতে উঠান, তখন যে লোকসমূহ তাঁহার সঙ্গে ছিল, তাহারা সাক্ষ্য দিতে লাগিল।
18 আর এই কারণ লোকসমূহ গিয়া তাঁহার সহিত সাক্ষাৎ করিল, কেননা তাহারা শুনিয়াছিল যে, তিনি সেই চিহ্ন-কার্য্য করিয়াছেন।
19 তখন ফরীশীরা পরস্পর বলিতে লাগিল, তোমরা দেখিতেছ, তোমাদের সমস্ত চেষ্টা বিফল; দেখ, জগৎসংসার উহার পশ্চাদাগামী হইয়াছে।
20 যাহারা ভজনা করিবার জন্য পর্ব্বে আসিয়াছিল, তাহাদের মধ্যে কয়েক জন গ্রীক ছিল;
21 ইহারা গালীলের বৈৎসৈদা নিবাসী ফিলিপের নিকটে আসিয়া তাঁহাকে বিনতি করিল, মহাশয়, আমরা যীশুকে দেখিতে ইচ্ছা করি।
22 ফিলিপ আসিয়া আন্দ্রিয়কে বলিলেন, আন্দ্রিয় ও ফিলিপ আসিয়া যীশুকে বলিলেন।
23 তখন যীশু তাঁহাদিগকে উত্তর করিয়া বলিলেন, সময় উপস্থিত, যেন মনুষ্যপুত্র মহিমান্বিত হন।
24 সত্য, সত্য, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, গোমের বীজ যদি মৃত্তিকায় পড়িয়া না মরে, তবে তাহা একটী মাত্র থাকে; কিন্তু যদি মরে, তবে অনেক ফল উৎপন্ন করে।
25 যে আপন প্রাণ ভাল বাসে, সে তাহা হারায়; আর যে এই জগতে আপন প্রাণ অপ্রিয় জ্ঞান করে, সে অনন্ত জীবনের নিমিত্ত তাহা রক্ষা করিবে।
26 কেহ যদি আমার পরিচর্য্যা করে, তবে সে আমার পশ্চাদাগামী হউক; তাহাতে আমি যেখানে থাকি, আমার পরিচারকও সেইখানে থাকিবে; কেহ যদি আমার পরিচার্য্যা করে, তবে পিতা তাহার সম্মান করিবেন।
27 এখন আমার প্রাণ উদ্বিগ্ন হইয়াছে; ইহাতে কি বলিব? পিতঃ, এই সময় হইতে আমাকে রক্ষা কর? কিন্তু ইহারই নিমিত্ত আমি এই সময় পর্য্যন্ত আসিয়াছি।
28 পিতঃ, তোমার নাম মহিমান্বিত কর। তখন স্বর্গ হইতে এই বাণী হইল, ‘আমি তাহা মহিমান্বিত করিয়াছি, আবার মহিমান্বিত করিব।’
29 যে লোকসমূহ দাঁড়াইয়া শুনিয়াছিল, তাহারা বলিল, মেঘগর্জ্জন হইল; আর কেহ কেহ বলিল, কোন স্বর্গ-দূত ইহাঁর সহিত কথা কহিলেন।
30 যীশু উত্তর করিয়া কহিলেন, ঐ বাণী আমার জন্য হয় নাই,
31 কিন্তু তোমাদেরই জন্য। এখন এ জগতের বিচার উপস্থিত, এখন এ জগতের অধিপতি বাহিরে নিক্ষিপ্ত হইবে।
32 আর আমি ভূতল হইতে উচ্চীকৃত হইলে সকলকে আমার নিকটে আকর্ষণ করিব।
33 তিনি যে কিরূপ মরণে মরিবেন, তাহা এই বাক্য দ্বারা নির্দ্দেশ করিলেন।
34 তখন লোকসমূহ তাঁহাকে উত্তর করিল, আমরা ব্যবস্থা হইতে শুনিয়াছি যে, খ্রীষ্ট চিরকাল থাকেন; তবে আপনি কি প্রকারে বলিতেছেন যে, মনুষ্যপুত্রকে উচ্চীকৃত হইতে হইবে? সেই মনুষ্য পুত্র কে?
35 তখন যীশু তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, আর অল্প কালমাত্র জ্যোতি তোমাদের মধ্যে আছে। যাবৎ তোমাদের কাছে জ্যোতি আছে, যাতায়াত কর, যেন অন্ধকার তোমাদের উপরে আসিয়া না পড়ে; আর যে ব্যক্তি অন্ধকারে যাতায়াত করে, সে কোথায় যায়, তাহা জানে না।
36 যাবৎ তোমাদের কাছে জ্যোতি আছে, সেই জ্যোতিতে বিশ্বাস কর, যেন তোমরা জ্যোতির সন্তান হইতে পার। যীশু এই সকল কথা বলিলেন, আর প্রস্থান করিয়া তাহাদের হইতে লুকাইলেন।
37 কিন্তু যদিও তিনি তাহাদের সাক্ষাতে এত চিহ্ন-কার্য্য করিয়াছিলেন, তথাপি তাহারা তাঁহাকে বিশ্বাস করিল না;
38 যেন যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বাক্য পূর্ণ হয়, তিনি ত বলিয়াছিলেন, “হে প্রভু, আমরা যাহা শুনিয়াছি, তাহা কে বিশ্বাস করিয়াছে? আর প্রভুর বাহু কাহার কাছে প্রকাশিত হইয়াছে?”
39 এই জন্য তাহারা বিশ্বাস করিতে পারে নাই, কারণ যিশাইয় আবার বলিয়াছেন,
40 “তিনি তাহাদের চক্ষু অন্ধ করিয়াছেন, তাহাদের হৃদয় কঠিন করিয়াছেন, পাছে তাহারা চক্ষে দেখে, হৃদয়ে বুঝে, এবং ফিরিয়া আইসে, আর আমি তাহাদিগকে সুস্থ করি।”
41 যিশাইয় এই সমস্ত বলিয়াছিলেন, কেননা তিনি তাঁহার মহিমা দেখিয়াছিলেন, আর তাঁহারই বিষয় বলিয়াছিলেন।
42 তথাপি অধ্যক্ষদের মধ্যেও অনেকে তাঁহাতে বিশ্বাস করিল; কিন্তু ফরীশীদের ভয়ে স্বীকার করিল না, পাছে সমাজচ্যুত হয়;
43 কেননা ঈশ্বরের কাছে গৌরব অপেক্ষা তাহারা বরং মনুষ্যদের কাছে গৌরব অধিক ভাল বাসিত।
44 যীশু উচ্চৈঃস্বরে বলিলেন, যে আমাতে বিশ্বাস করে, সে আমাতে নয়, কিন্তু যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, তাঁহাতেই বিশ্বাস করে;
45 এবং যে আমাকে দর্শন করে, সে তাঁহাকেই দর্শন করে, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন।
46 আমি জ্যোতিঃস্বরূপ হইয়া এই জগতে আসিয়াছি, যেন, যে কেহ আমাতে বিশ্বাস করে, সে অন্ধকারে না থাকে।
47 আর যদি কেহ আমার কথা শুনিয়া পালন না করে, আমি তাহার বিচার করি না, কারণ আমি জগতের বিচার করিতে নয়, কিন্তু জগতের পরিত্রাণ করিতে আসিয়াছি।
48 যে আমাকে অগ্রাহ্য করে, এবং আমার কথা গ্রহণ না করে, তাহার বিচারকর্ত্তা আছে; আমি যে বাক্য বলিয়াছি, তাহাই শেষ দিনে তাহার বিচার করিবে।
49 কারণ আমি আপনা হইতে বলি নাই; কিন্তু কি কহিব ও কি বলিব, তাহা আমার পিতা, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, তিনিই আমাকে আজ্ঞা করিয়াছেন।
50 আর আমি জানি যে, তাঁহার আজ্ঞা অনন্ত জীবন। অতএব আমি যাহা যাহা বলি, তাহা পিতা আমাকে যেমন কহিয়াছেন, তেমনি বলি।
