1 প্রভু যখন জানিলেন যে, ফরীশীরা শুনিয়াছে, যীশু যোহন হইতে অধিক শিষ্য করেন এবং বাপ্তাইজ করেন
2 —কিন্তু যীশু নিজে বাপ্তাইজ করিতেন না, তাঁহার শিষ্যগণই করিতেন
3 —তখন তিনি যিহূদিয়া ত্যাগ করিলেন, এবং পুনর্ব্বার গালীলে চলিয়া গেলেন।
4 আর শমরিয়ার মধ্য দিয়া তাঁহাকে যাইতে হইল।
5 তাহাতে তিনি শুখর নামক শমরিয়ার এক নগরের নিকটে গেলেন; যাকোব আপন পুত্র যোষেফকে যে ভূমি দান করিয়াছিলেন, সেই নগর তাহার নিকটবর্ত্তী।
6 আর সেই স্থানে যাকোবের কূপ ছিল। তখন যীশু পথশ্রান্ত হওয়াতে অমনি সেই কূপের পার্শ্বে বসিলেন। বেলা তখন অনুমান ষষ্ঠ ঘটিকা।
7 শমরিয়ার একটী স্ত্রীলোক জল তুলিতে আসিল। যীশু তাহাকে বলিলেন, আমাকে পান করিবার জল দেও।
8 কেননা তাঁহার শিষ্যেরা খাদ্য ক্রয় করিতে নগরে গিয়াছিলেন।
9 তাহাতে শমরীয় স্ত্রীলোকটী বলিল, আপনি যিহূদী হইয়া কেমন করিয়া আমার কাছে পান করিবার জল চাহিতেছেন? আমি ত শমরীয় স্ত্রীলোক। —কেননা শমরীয়দের সহিত যিহূদীদের ব্যবহার নাই।
10 —যীশু উত্তর করিয়া তাহাকে কহিলেন, তুমি যদি জানিতে, ঈশ্বরের দান কি, আর কে তোমাকে বলিতেছেন, ‘আমাকে পান করিবার জল দেও’, তবে তাঁহারই নিকটে তুমি যাচ্ঞা করিতে এবং তিনি তোমাকে জীবন্ত জল দিতেন।
11 স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁহাকে বলিল, মহাশয়, জল তুলিবার জন্য আপনার কাছে কিছুই নাই, কূপটীও গভীর; তবে সেই জীবন্ত জল কোথা হইতে পাইলেন?
12 আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষ যাকোব হইতে কি আপনি মহান্‌? তিনিই আমাদিগকে এই কূপ দিয়াছেন, আর ইহার জল তিনি নিজে ও তাঁহার পুত্রগণ পান করিতেন, তাঁহার পশুপালও পান করিত।
13 যীশু উত্তর করিয়া তাহাকে কহিলেন, যে কেহ এই জল পান করে, তাহার আবার পিপাসা হইবে;
14 কিন্তু আমি যে জল দিব, তাহা যে কেহ পান করে, তাহার পিপাসা আর কখনও হইবে না; বরং আমি তাহাকে যে জল দিব, তাহা তাহার অন্তরে এমন জলের উনুই হইবে, যাহা অনন্ত জীবন পর্য্যন্ত উথলিয়া উঠিবে।
15 স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁহাকে বলিল, মহাশয়, সেই জল আমাকে দিউন, যেন আমার পিপাসা না পায়, এবং জল তুলিবার জন্য এতটা পথ হাঁটিয়া আসিতে না হয়।
16 যীশু তাহাকে বলিলেন, যাও, তোমার স্বামীকে এখানে ডাকিয়া লইয়া আইস।
17 স্ত্রীলোকটী উত্তর করিয়া তাঁহাকে কহিল, আমার স্বামী নাই।
18 যীশু তাহাকে বলিলেন, তুমি ভালই বলিয়াছ যে, আমার স্বামী নাই; কেননা তোমার পাঁচটী স্বামী হইয়া গিয়াছে, আর এখন তোমার যে আছে, সে তোমার স্বামী নয়; এ কথা সত্য বলিলে।
19 স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁহাকে বলিল, মহাশয়, আমি দেখিতেছি যে, আপনি ভাববাদী।
20 আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরা এই পর্ব্বতে ভজনা করিতেন, আর আপনারা বলিয়া থাকেন, যে স্থানে ভজনা করা উচিত, সে স্থানটী যিরূশালেমেই আছে।
21 যীশু তাহাকে বলেন, হে নারি, আমার কথায় বিশ্বাস কর; এমন সময় আসিতেছে, যখন তোমরা না এই পর্ব্বতে, না যিরূশালেমে পিতার ভজনা করিবে।
22 তোমরা যাহা জান না, তাহার ভজনা করিতেছ; আমরা যাহা জানি, তাহার ভজনা করিতেছি, কারণ যিহূদীদের মধ্য হইতেই পরিত্রাণ।
23 কিন্তু এমন সময় আসিতেছে, বরং এখনই উপস্থিত, যখন প্রকৃত ভজনাকারীরা আত্মায় ও সত্যে পিতার ভজনা করিবে; কারণ বাস্তবিক পিতা এইরূপ ভজনাকারীদেরই অন্বেষণ করেন।
24 ঈশ্বর আত্মা; আর যাহারা তাঁহার ভজনা করে, তাহাদিগকে আত্মায় ও সত্যে ভজনা করিতে হইবে।
25 স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁহাকে বলিল, আমি জানি, মশীহ আসিতেছেন, যাঁহাকে খ্রীষ্ট বলে, —তিনি যখন আসিবেন, তখন আমাদিগকে সকলই জ্ঞাত করিবেন।
26 যীশু তাহাকে বলিলেন, তোমার সহিত কথা কহিতেছি যে আমি, আমিই তিনি।
27 এই সময়ে তাঁহার শিষ্যগণ আসিলেন, এবং আশ্চর্য্য জ্ঞান করিলেন যে, তিনি স্ত্রীলোকের সহিত কথা কহিতেছেন, তথাপি কেহ বলিলেন না, আপনি কি চাহেন? কিম্বা, কি জন্য উহার সহিত কথা কহিতেছেন?
28 তখন সে স্ত্রীলোকটী আপন কলশী ফেলিয়া রাখিয়া নগরে গেল, আর লোকদিগকে কহিল,
29 আইস, একটী মানুষকে দেখ, আমি যাহা কিছু করিয়াছি, তিনি সকলই আমাকে বলিয়া দিলেন; তিনিই কি সেই খ্রীষ্ট নহেন?
30 তাহারা নগর হইতে বাহির হইয়া তাঁহার নিকটে আসিতে লাগিল।
31 ইতিমধ্যে শিষ্যেরা তাঁহাকে বিনতি করিয়া কহিলেন, রব্বি, আহার করুন।
32 কিন্তু তিনি তাঁহাদিগকে বলিলেন, আহারের জন্য আমার এমন খাদ্য আছে, যাহা তোমরা জান না।
33 অতএব শিষ্যেরা পরস্পর বলিতে লাগিলেন, কেহ কি ইহাঁকে খাদ্য আনিয়া দিয়াছে?
34 যীশু তাঁহাদিগকে বলিলেন, আমার খাদ্য এই, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, যেন তাঁহার ইচ্ছা পালন করি ও তাঁহার কার্য্য সাধন করি।
35 তোমরা কি বল না, আর চারি মাস পরে শস্য কাটিবার সময় হইবে? দেখ, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, চক্ষু তুলিয়া ক্ষেত্রের প্রতি দৃষ্টিপাত কর, শস্য এখনই কাটিবার মত শ্বেতবর্ণ হইয়াছে।
36 যে কাটে সে বেতন পায়, এবং অনন্ত জীবনের নিমিত্ত শস্য সংগ্রহ করে; যেন, যে বুনে ও যে কাটে, উভয়ে একত্র আনন্দ করে।
37 কেননা এ স্থলে এই কথা সত্য, এক জন বুনে, আর এক জন কাটে।
38 আমি তোমাদিগকে এমন শস্য কাটিতে প্রেরণ করিলাম, যাহার জন্য তোমার পরিশ্রম কর নাই; অন্যেরা পরিশ্রম করিয়াছে, এবং তোমরা তাহাদের শ্রম-ক্ষেত্রে প্রবেশ করিয়াছ।
39 সেই নগরের শমরীয়েরা অনেকে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী যে সাক্ষ্য দিয়াছিল, আমি যাহা কিছু করিয়াছি, তিনি আমাকে সকলই বলিয়া দিলেন, তাহার এই কথা প্রযুক্ত তাঁহাতে বিশ্বাস করিল।
40 অতএব সেই শমরীয়েরা যখন তাঁহার নিকটে আসিল, তখন তাঁহাকে বিনতি করিল, যেন তিনি তাহাদের কাছে অবস্থিতি করেন; তাহাতে তিনি দুই দিবস সেখানে অবস্থিতি করিলেন।
41 তখন আরও অনেক লোক তাঁহার বাক্য প্রযুক্ত বিশ্বাস করিল;
42 আর তাহারা সেই স্ত্রীলোককে কহিল, এখন যে আমরা বিশ্বাস করিতেছি, সে আর তোমার কথা প্রযুক্ত নয়, কেননা আমরা আপনারা শুনিয়াছি ও জানিতে পারিয়াছি যে, ইনি সত্যই জগতের ত্রাণকর্ত্তা।
43 সেই দুই দিনের পর তিনি তথা হইতে গালীলে গমন করিলেন।
44 কারণ যীশু আপনি এই সাক্ষ্য দিয়াছিলেন যে, ভাববাদী নিজ দেশে সমাদর পান না।
45 অতএব তিনি যখন গালীলে আসিলেন, তখন গালীলীয়েরা তাঁহাকে গ্রহণ করিল, কারণ যিরূশালেমে পর্ব্বের সময়ে তিনি যাহা যাহা করিয়াছিলেন, সে সমস্ত তাহারা দেখিয়াছিল; কেননা তাহারাও সেই পর্ব্বে গিয়াছিল।
46 পরে তিনি আবার গালীলের সেই কান্না নগরে গেলেন, যেখানে জলকে দ্রাক্ষারস করিয়াছিলেন। আর, এক জন রাজপুরুষ ছিলেন, তাঁহার পুত্র কফরনাহূমে পীড়িত ছিল।
47 যীশু যিহূদিয়া হইতে গালীলে আসিয়াছেন, শুনিয়া তিনি তাঁহার নিকটে গেলেন, এবং বিনতি করিলেন, যেন তিনি গিয়া তাঁহার পুত্রকে সুস্থ করেন; কারণ সে মৃতপ্রায় হইয়াছিল।
48 তখন যীশু তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, চিহ্ন এবং অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ যদি না দেখ, তোমরা কোন মতে বিশ্বাস করিবে না।
49 সেই রাজপুরুষ তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, হে প্রভু, আমার ছেলেটী না মরিতে মরিতে আইসুন।
50 যীশু তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, যাও, তোমার পুত্র বাঁচিল। যীশু সেই ব্যক্তিকে যে কথা বলিলেন, তিনি তাহা বিশ্বাস করিয়া চলিয়া গেলেন।
51 তিনি যাইতেছেন, এমন সময়ে তাঁহার দাসেরা তাঁহার নিকটে আসিয়া বলিল, আপনার বালকটী বাঁচিল।
52 তখন তিনি তাহাদিগকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেন, কোন্‌ ঘটিকায় তাহার উপশম আরম্ভ হইয়াছিল? তাহারা তাঁহাকে বলিল, কল্য সপ্তম ঘটিকার সময়ে তাহার জ্বর ছাড়িয়া গিয়াছে।
53 তাহাতে পিতা বুঝিলেন, যীশু সেই ঘটিকাতেই তাঁহাকে বলিয়াছিলেন, তোমার পুত্র বাঁচিল; আর তিনি আপনি ও তাঁহার সমস্ত পরিবার বিশ্বাস করিলেন।
54 যিহূদিয়া হইতে গালীলে আসিবার পর যীশু আবার এই দ্বিতীয় চিহ্ন-কার্য্য করিলেন।
