1 পরে তাহারা প্রত্যেকে আপন আপন গৃহে গেল, কিন্তু যীশু জৈতুন পর্ব্বতে গেলেন।
2 আর প্রত্যূষে তিনি পুনর্ব্বার ধর্ম্মধামে আসিলেন; এবং সমুদয় লোক তাঁহার নিকটে আসিল; আর তিনি বসিয়া তাহাদিগকে উপদেশ দিতে লাগিলেন।
3 তখন অধ্যাপক ও ফরীশীগণ ব্যভিচারে ধৃতা একটী স্ত্রীলোককে তাঁহার নিকটে আনিল, ও মধ্যস্থানে দাঁড় করাইয়া তাঁহাকে কহিল,
4 হে গুরু, এই স্ত্রীলোকটা ব্যভিচারে, সেই ক্রিয়াতেই, ধরা পড়িয়াছে।
5 ব্যবস্থায় মোশি এ প্রকার লোককে পাথর মারিবার আজ্ঞা আমাদিগকে দিয়াছেন; তবে আপনি কি বলেন?
6 তাহারা তাঁহার পরীক্ষাভাবেই এই কথা কহিল, যেন তাঁহার নামে দোষারোপ করিবার সূত্র পাইতে পারে। কিন্তু যীশু হেঁট হইয়া অঙ্গুলি দ্বারা ভূমিতে লিখিতে লাগিলেন।
7 পরে তাহারা যখন পুনঃ পুনঃ তাঁহাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিতে লাগিল তিনি মাথা তুলিয়া তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমাদের মধ্যে যে নিষ্পাপ, সেই প্রথমে ইহাকে পাথর মারুক।
8 পরে তিনি পুনর্ব্বার হেঁট হইয়া অঙ্গুলি দিয়া ভূমিতে লিখিতে লাগিলেন।
9 তখন তাহারা ইহা শুনিয়া, এবং আপন আপন সংবেদ দ্বারা দোষীকৃত হইয়া, একে একে বাহিরে গেল, প্রাচীন লোক অবধি আরম্ভ করিয়া শেষ জন পর্য্যন্ত গেল; তাহাতে কেবল যীশু অবশিষ্ট থাকিলেন, আর সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী মধ্যস্থানে দাঁড়াইয়াছিল।
10 তখন যীশু মাথা তুলিয়া, স্ত্রীলোকটী ছাড়া আর কাহাকেও দেখিতে না পাইয়া, তাহাকে কহিলেন, হে নারি, যাহারা তোমার নামে অভিযোগ করিয়াছিল, তাহারা কোথায়? কেহ কি তোমাকে দোষী করে নাই?
11 সে কহিল, না, প্রভু, কেহ করে নাই। তখন যীশু তাহাকে বলিলেন, আমিও তোমাকে দোষী করি না; যাও, এখন অবধি আর পাপ করিও না।
12 যীশু আবার লোকদের কাছে কথা কহিলেন, তিনি বলিলেন, আমি জগতের জ্যোতি; যে আমার পশ্চাৎ আইসে, সে কোন মতে অন্ধকারে চলিবে না, কিন্তু জীবনের দীপ্তি পাইবে।
13 তাহাতে ফরীশীরা তাঁহাকে কহিল, তুমি আপনার বিষয়ে আপনি সাক্ষ্য দিতেছ; তোমার সাক্ষ্য সত্য নহে।
14 যীশু উত্তর করিয়া তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, যদিও আমি আপনার বিষয়ে আপনি সাক্ষ্য দিই, তথাপি আমার সাক্ষ্য সত্য; কারণ আমি কোথা হইতে আসিয়াছি, কোথায়ই বা যাইতেছি, তাহা জানি; কিন্তু আমি কোথা হইতে আসি, কোথায়ই বা যাইতেছি তাহা তোমরা জান না।
15 তোমরা মাংস অনুসারে বিচার করিতেছ; আমি কাহারও বিচার করি না।
16 আর যদিও আমি বিচার করি, আমার বিচার সত্য, কেননা আমি একা নহি, কিন্তু আমি আছি, এবং পিতা আছেন, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন।
17 আর তোমাদের ব্যবস্থাতেও লিখিত আছে, দুই জনের সাক্ষ্য সত্য ।
18 আমি আপনি আমার বিষয়ে সাক্ষ্য দিই, আর পিতা, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, তিনি আমার বিষয়ে সাক্ষ্য দেন।
19 তখন তাহারা তাঁহাকে বলিল, তোমার পিতা কোথায়? যীশু উত্তর করিলেন, তোমরা আমাকেও জান না, আমার পিতাকেও জান না; যদি আমাকে জানিতে, আমার পিতাকেও জানিতে।
20 এই সকল কথা তিনি ধর্ম্মধামে উপদেশ দিবার সময়ে ভাণ্ডার-গৃহে কহিলেন; এবং কেহ তাঁহাকে ধরিল না, কারণ তখনও তাঁহার সময় উপস্থিত হয় নাই।
21 পরে তিনি আবার তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, আমি যাইতেছি, আর তোমরা আমার অন্বেষণ করিবে, ও তোমাদের পাপে মরিবে; আমি যেখানে যাইতেছি, সেখানে তোমরা আসিতে পার না।
22 তখন যিহূদীরা বলিল, এ কি আত্মঘাতী হইবে, তাই বলিতেছে, আমি যেখানে যাইতেছি, সেখানে তোমরা আসিতে পার না।
23 তিনি তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরা অধঃস্থানের, আমি ঊর্দ্ধস্থানের; তোমরা এ জগতের, আমি এ জগতের নহি।
24 এই জন্য তোমাদিগকে বলিলাম যে, তোমরা তোমাদের পাপসমূহে মরিবে; কেননা যদি বিশ্বাস না কর যে, আমিই তিনি, তবে তোমাদের পাপসমূহে মরিবে।
25 তখন তাহারা কহিল, তুমি কে? যীশু তাহাদিগকে বলিলেন, তাহাই ত প্রথম হইতে তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি ।
26 তোমাদের বিষয়ে বলিবার ও বিচার করিবার অনেক কথা আমার আছে; যাহা হউক, যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, তিনি সত্য, এবং আমি তাঁহার নিকটে যাহা যাহা শুনিয়াছি, তাহাই জগৎকে বলিতেছি।
27 —তিনি যে তাহাদিগকে পিতার বিষয় বলিতেছিলেন, ইহা তাহারা বুঝিল না।
28 —তখন যীশু কহিলেন, যখন তোমরা মনুষ্যপুত্রকে উচ্চে উঠাইবে, তখন জানিবে যে, আমিই তিনি, আর আমি আপনা হইতে কিছুই করি না, কিন্তু পিতা আমাকে যেমন শিক্ষা দিয়াছেন, তদনুসারে এই সকল কথা কহি।
29 আর যিনি আমাকে পাঠাইয়াছেন, তিনি আমার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আছেন; তিনি আমাকে একা ছাড়িয়া দেন নাই, কেননা আমি সর্ব্বদা তাঁহার সন্তোষজনক কার্য্য করি।
30 তিনি এই সকল কথা কহিলে অনেকে তাঁহাতে বিশ্বাস করিল।
31 অতএব যে যিহূদীরা তাঁহাকে বিশ্বাস করিল, তাহাদিগকে যীশু কহিলেন, তোমরা যদি আমার বাক্যে স্থির থাক, তাহা হইলে সত্যই তোমরা আমার শিষ্য;
32 আর তোমরা সেই সত্য জানিবে, এবং সেই সত্য তোমাদিগকে স্বাধীন করিবে।
33 তাহারা তাঁহাকে উত্তর করিল, আমরা অব্রাহামের বংশ, কখনও কাহারও দাস হই নাই; আপনি কেমন করিয়া বলিতেছেন যে, তোমাদিগকে স্বাধীন করা যাইবে?
34 যীশু তাহাদিগকে উত্তর করিলেন, সত্য, সত্য, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, যে কেহ পাপাচরণ করে, সে পাপের দাস।
35 আর দাস বাটীতে চিরকাল থাকে না; পুত্র চিরকাল থাকেন।
36 অতএব পুত্র যদি তোমাদিগকে স্বাধীন করেন, তবে তোমরা প্রকৃতরূপে স্বাধীন হইবে।
37 আমি জানি, তোমরা অব্রাহামের বংশ; কিন্তু আমাকে বধ করিতে চেষ্টা করিতেছ, কারণ আমার বাক্য তোমাদের অন্তরে স্থান পায় না।
38 আমার পিতার কাছে আমি যাহা যাহা দেখিয়াছি, তাহাই বলিতেছি; আর তোমাদের পিতার কাছে তোমরা যাহা যাহা শুনিয়াছ, তাহাই করিতেছ।
39 তাহারা উত্তর করিয়া তাঁহাকে বলিল, আমাদের পিতা অব্রাহাম। যীশু তাহাদিগকে বলিলেন, তোমরা যদি অব্রাহামের সন্তান হইতে, তবে অব্রাহামের কর্ম্ম করিতে।
40 কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের কাছে সত্য শুনিয়া তোমাদিগকে জানাইয়াছি যে আমি, আমাকেই বধ করিতে চেষ্টা করিতেছ; অব্রাহাম এরূপ করেন নাই।
41 তোমাদের পিতার কার্য্য তোমরা করিতেছ। তাহারা তাঁহাকে কহিল, আমরা ব্যভিচারজাত নহি; আমাদের একমাত্র পিতা আছেন, তিনি ঈশ্বর।
42 যীশু তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, ঈশ্বর যদি তোমাদের পিতা হইতেন, তবে তোমরা আমাকে প্রেম করিতে, কেননা আমি ঈশ্বর হইতে বাহির হইয়া আসিয়াছি; আমি ত আপনা হইতে আসি নাই, কিন্তু তিনিই আমাকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছেন।
43 তোমরা কেন আমার কথা বুঝ না? কারণ এই যে, আমার বাক্য শুনিতে পার না।
44 তোমরা আপনাদের পিতা দিয়াবলের, এবং তোমাদের পিতার অভিলাষ সকল পালন করাই তোমাদের ইচ্ছা; সে আদি হইতেই নরঘাতক, সত্যে থাকে নাই, কারণ তাহার মধ্যে সত্য নাই। সে যখন মিথ্যা বলে, তখন আপনা হইতেই বলে, কেননা সে মিথ্যবাদী ও তাহার পিতা।
45 কিন্তু আমি সত্য বলি, তাই তোমরা আমাকে বিশ্বাস কর না।
46 তোমাদের মধ্যে কে আমাকে পাপী বলিয়া প্রমাণ করিতে পারে? যদি আমি সত্য বলি, তবে তোমরা কেন আমাকে বিশ্বাস কর না?
47 যে কেহ ঈশ্বরের, সে ঈশ্বরের কথা সকল শুনে; এই জন্যই তোমরা শুন না, কারণ তোমরা ঈশ্বরের নহ।
48 যিহূদীরা উত্তর করিয়া তাঁহাকে কহিল, আমরা কি ভালই বলি না যে, তুমি একজন শমরীয় ও ভূতগ্রস্ত?
49 যীশু উত্তর করিলেন, আমি ভূতগ্রস্ত নহি, কিন্তু আপন পিতাকে সমাদর করি, আর তোমরা আমাকে অনাদর কর।
50 কিন্তু আমি আপনার গৌরব অন্বেষণ করি না; এক জন আছেন, যিনি অন্বেষণ করেন ও বিচার করেন।
51 সত্য, সত্য, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, কেহ যদি আমার বাক্য পালন করে, সে কখনও মৃত্যু দেখিবে না।
52 যিহূদীরা তাঁহাকে বলিল, এখন জানিলাম, তুমি ভূতগ্রস্ত; অব্রাহাম ও ভাববাদিগণ মরিয়া গিয়াছেন; আর তুমি বলিতেছ, কেহ যদি আমার বাক্য পালন করে, সে কখনও মৃত্যুর আস্বাদ পাইবে না।
53 তুমি কি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষ অব্রাহাম অপেক্ষা বড়? তিনি ত মরিয়াছেন, এবং ভাববাদিগণও মরিয়াছেন; তুমি আপনার বিষয়ে কি বল?
54 যীশু উত্তর করিলেন, আমি যদি আপনাকে গৌরবান্বিত করি; তবে আমার গৌরব কিছুই নয়; আমার পিতাই আমাকে গৌরবান্বিত করিতেছেন, যাঁহার বিষয় তোমরা বলিয়া থাক যে, তিনি তোমাদের ঈশ্বর;
55 আর তোমরা তাঁহাকে জান নাই; কিন্তু আমি তাঁহাকে জানি; আর আমি যদি বলি যে, তাঁহাকে জানি না, তবে তোমাদেরই ন্যায় মিথ্যাবাদী হইব; কিন্তু আমি তাঁহাকে জানি, এবং তাঁহার বাক্য পালন করি।
56 তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষ অব্রাহাম আমার দিন দেখিবার আশায় উল্লাসিত হইয়াছিলেন, এবং তিনি তাহা দেখিলেন ও আনন্দ করিলেন।
57 তখন যিহূদীরা তাঁহাকে কহিল, তোমার বয়স এখনও পঞ্চাশ বৎসর হয় নাই, তুমি কি অব্রাহামকে দেখিয়াছ?
58 যীশু তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, সত্য, সত্য, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, অব্রাহামের জন্মের পূর্ব্বাবধি আমি আছি।
59 তখন তাহারা তাঁহার উপর ছুড়িয়া মারিবার জন্য পাথর তুলিয়া লইল, যীশু কিন্তু অন্তর্হিত হইলেন, ও ধর্ম্মধাম হইতে বাহিরে গেলেন।
