1 কনান দেশে ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণ এই এই অধিকার গ্রহণ করিল; ইলীয়াসর যাজক ও নূনের পুত্র যিহোশূয় এবং ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণের বংশসমূহের পিতৃকুলপতিগণ এই সকল তাহাদিগকে অংশ করিয়া দিলেন;
2 সদাপ্রভু মোশি দ্বারা যেরূপ আজ্ঞা করিয়াছিলেন, তদনুসারে তাঁহারা গুলিবাঁট দ্বারা সাড়ে নয় বংশের অংশ নিরূপণ করিলেন।
3 কেননা যর্দ্দনের ওপারে মোশি আড়াই বংশকে অধিকার দিয়াছিলেন, কিন্তু লেবীয়দিগকে লোকদের মধ্যে অধিকার দেন নাই।
4 কেননা যোষেফ-সন্তানগণ দুই বংশ হইল, মনঃশি ও ইফ্রয়িম; আর লেবীয়দিগকে দেশে কোন অংশ দেওয়া গেল না, কেবল বাস করিবার জন্য কতকগুলি নগর, এবং তাহাদের পশুপালের ও তাহাদের সম্পত্তির জন্য সেই সকল নগরের পরিসরভূমি দেওয়া গেল।
5 সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে যে আজ্ঞা দিয়াছিলেন, ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণ তদনুসারে কার্য্য করিল, এবং দেশ বিভাগ করিয়া লইল।
6 আর যিহূদা-সন্তানগণ গিল্‌গলে যিহোশূয়ের নিকটে আসিল; আর কনিসীয় যিফুন্নির পুত্র কালেব তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, সদাপ্রভু আমার ও তোমার বিষয়ে কাদেশ-বর্ণেয়ে ঈশ্বরের লোক মোশিকে যে কথা বলিয়াছিলেন, তাহা তুমি জ্ঞাত আছ।
7 আমার চল্লিশ বৎসর বয়সের সময়ে সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি দেশ অনুসন্ধান করিতে কাদেশ-বর্ণেয় হইতে আমাকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলেন, আর আমি সরল অন্তঃকরণে তাঁহার নিকটে সংবাদ আনিয়া দিয়াছিলাম।
8 আমার যে ভ্রাতৃগণ আমার সহিত গিয়াছিল, তাহারা লোকদের হৃদয় ভয়ে গলাইয়া দিয়াছিল; কিন্তু আমি সম্পূর্ণরূপে আপন ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগামী ছিলাম।
9 আর মোশি ঐ দিবসে দিব্য করিয়া বলিয়াছিলেন, যে ভূমির উপরে তোমার পাদবিক্ষেপ হইয়াছে, সেই ভূমি তোমার ও চিরকাল তোমার সন্তানগণের অধিকার হইবে; কেননা তুমি সম্পূর্ণরূপে আমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগমন করিয়াছ।
10 আর এখন, দেখ, প্রান্তরে ইস্রায়েলের ভ্রমণকালে যে সময়ে সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে সেই কথা বলিয়াছিলেন, সেই অবধি সদাপ্রভু আপন বাক্যানুসারে এই পঁয়তাল্লিশ বৎসর আমাকে জীবিত রাখিয়াছেন; আর এখন, দেখ, অদ্য আমার বয়স পঁচাশী বৎসর।
11 মোশি যে দিন আমাকে প্রেরণ করিয়াছিলেন, সেই দিন আমি যেমন বলবান ছিলাম, অদ্যাপি তদ্রূপ আছি; যুদ্ধের জন্য এবং বাহিরে যাইবার ও ভিতরে আসিবার জন্য আমার তখন যেমন শক্তি ছিল, এখনও সেইরূপ শক্তি আছে।
12 অতএব সেই দিন সদাপ্রভু এই যে পর্ব্বতের বিষয় বলিয়াছিলেন, এখন ইহা আমাকে দেও; কেননা তুমি সেই দিন শুনিয়াছিলে যে, অনাকীয়েরা সেখানে থাকে, এবং নগর সকল বৃহৎ ও প্রাচীরবেষ্টিত; হয় ত, সদাপ্রভু আমার সহবর্ত্তী থাকিবেন, আর আমি সদাপ্রভুর বাক্যানুসারে তাহাদিগকে অধিকারচ্যুত করিব।
13 তখন যিহোশূয় তাঁহাকে আশীর্ব্বাদ করিলেন, এবং যিফুন্নির পুত্র কালেবকে অধিকারার্থে হিব্রোণ দিলেন।
14 এই জন্য অদ্য পর্য্যন্ত হিব্রোণে কনিসীয় যিফুন্নীর পুত্র কালেবের অধিকার রহিয়াছে; কেননা তিনি সম্পূর্ণরূপে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগামী ছিলেন।
15 পূর্ব্বকালে হিব্রোণের নাম কিরিয়ৎ-অর্ব অর্বপুর ছিল, ঐ অর্ব অনাকীয়দের মধ্যে মহল্লোক ছিলেন। পরে দেশে যুদ্ধবিরাম হইল।

5 As H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses, H4872 so H3651 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 did, H6213 and they divided H2505 H853 the land. H776
6 Then the children H1121 of Judah H3063 came H5066 unto H413 Joshua H3091 in Gilgal: H1537 and Caleb H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh H3312 the Kenezite H7074 said H559 unto H413 him, Thou H859 knowest H3045 H853 the thing H1697 that H834 the LORD H3068 said H1696 unto H413 Moses H4872 the man H376 of God H430 concerning H5921 H182 me and thee in Kadesh- H6947 barnea.
7 Forty H705 years H8141 old H1121 was I H595 when Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of the LORD H3068 sent H7971 me from Kadesh H4480 H6947 -barnea to espy out H7270 H853 the land; H776 and I brought H7725 him word H1697 again as H834 it was in H5973 mine heart. H3824

13 And Joshua H3091 blessed H1288 him , and gave H5414 unto Caleb H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh H3312 H853 Hebron H2275 for an inheritance. H5159
14 Hebron H2275 therefore H5921 H3651 became H1961 the inheritance H5159 of Caleb H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh H3312 the Kenezite H7074 unto H5704 this H2088 day, H3117 because H3282 that H834 he wholly H4390 followed H310 the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel. H3478
15 And the name H8034 of Hebron H2275 before H6440 was Kirjath- H7153 arba; which Arba was a great H1419 man H120 among the Anakims. H6062 And the land H776 had rest H8252 from war H4480 H4421 .
