1 ইতিমধ্যে যখন সহস্র সহস্র লোক সমাগত হইয়া এক জন অন্যের উপর পড়িতে লাগিল, তখন তিনি প্রথমে আপন শিষ্যদিগকে বলিতে লাগিলেন, তোমরা ফরীশীদের তাড়ী হইতে সাবধান থাক, তাহা কপটতা।
2 কিন্তু এমন ঢাকা কিছুই নাই, যাহা প্রকাশ পাইবে না, এবং এমন গুপ্ত কিছুই নাই, যাহা জানা যাইবে না।
3 অতএব তোমরা অন্ধকারে যাহা কিছু বলিয়াছ, তাহা আলোতে শুনা যাইবে; এবং অন্তরাগারে কাণে কাণে যাহা বলিয়াছ, তাহা ছাদের উপরে প্রচারিত হইবে।
4 আর, হে আমার বন্ধুরা, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, যাহারা শরীর বধ করিয়া পশ্চাৎ আর কিছু করিতে পারে না, তাহাদিগকে ভয় করিও না।
5 তবে কাহাকে ভয় করিবে, তাহা বলিয়া দিই; বধ করিয়া পশ্চাৎ নরকে নিক্ষেপ করিতে যাঁহার ক্ষমতা আছে, তাঁহাকেই ভয় কর; হাঁ, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, তাঁহাকেই ভয় কর।
6 পাঁচটী চড়াই পাখী কি দুই পয়সায় বিক্রয় হয় না? আর তাহাদের মধ্যে একটীও ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টিগোচরে গুপ্ত নয়।
7 এমন কি, তোমাদের মস্তকের কেশগুলিও সমস্ত গণিত আছে। ভয় করিও না, তোমরা অনেক চড়াই পাখী হইতে শ্রেষ্ঠ।
8 আর আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, যে কেহ মনুষ্যদের সাক্ষাতে আমাকে স্বীকার করে, মনুষ্যপুত্রও ঈশ্বরের দূতগণের সাক্ষাতে তাহাকে স্বীকার করিবেন;
9 কিন্তু যে কেহ মনুষ্যদের সাক্ষাতে আমাকে অস্বীকার করে, ঈশ্বরের দূতগণের সাক্ষাতে তাহাকে অস্বীকার করা যাইবে।
10 আর যে কেহ মনুষ্যপুত্রের বিরুদ্ধে কোন কথা কহে, সে ক্ষমা পাইবে; কিন্তু যে কেহ পবিত্র আত্মার নিন্দা করে, সে ক্ষমা পাইবে না।
11 আর লোকে যখন তোমাদিগকে সমাজ-গৃহে এবং শাসনকর্ত্তাদের ও কর্ত্তৃপক্ষদের সম্মুখে লইয়া যাইবে, তখন কিরূপে কি উত্তর দিবে, অথবা কি বলিবে, সে বিষয়ে ভাবিত হইও না;
12 কেননা কি কি বলা উচিত, তাহা পবিত্র আত্মা সেই দণ্ডে তোমাদিগকে শিক্ষা দিবেন।
13 পরে লোকসমূহের মধ্য হইতে এক ব্যক্তি তাঁহাকে বলিল, হে গুরু, আমার ভ্রাতাকে বলুন, যেন আমার সহিত পৈতৃক ধন বিভাগ করে।
14 কিন্তু তিনি তাহাকে কহিলেন, মনুষ্য, তোমাদের উপরে বিচারকর্ত্তা বা বিভাগকর্ত্তা করিয়া আমাকে কে নিযুক্ত করিয়াছে?
15 পরে তিনি তাহাদিগকে বলিলেন, সাবধান, সর্ব্বপ্রকার লোভ হইতে আপনাদিগকে রক্ষা করিও, কেননা উপচিয়া পড়িলেও মনুষ্যের সম্পত্তিতে তাহার জীবন হয় না।
16 আর তিনি তাহাদিগকে এই দৃষ্টান্ত কহিলেন, এক জন ধনবানের ভূমিতে প্রচুর শস্য উৎপন্ন হইয়াছিল।
17 তাহাতে সে মনে মনে বিবেচনা করিতে লাগিল, কি করি? আমার শস্য রাখিবার ত স্থান নাই।
18 পরে কহিল, এইরূপ করিব, আমার গোলাঘর সকল ভাঙ্গিয়া বড় বড় গোলাঘর নির্ম্মাণ করিব, এবং তাহার মধ্যে আমার সমস্ত শস্য ও আমার দ্রব্য রাখিব।
19 আর আপন প্রাণকে বলিব, প্রাণ, বহুবৎসরের নিমিত্ত তোমার জন্য অনেক দ্রব্য সঞ্চিত আছে; বিশ্রাম কর, ভোজন পান কর, আমোদ প্রমোদ কর।
20 কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাহাকে কহিলেন, হে নির্ব্বোধ, অদ্য রাত্রিতেই তোমার প্রাণ তোমা হইতে দাবি করিয়া লওয়া যাইবে, তবে তুমি এই যে আয়োজন করিলে, এ সকল কাহার হইবে?
21 যে কেহ আপনার জন্য ধন সঞ্চয় করে, এবং ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে ধনবান্‌ নয়, সে এইরূপ।
22 পরে তিনি আপন শিষ্যগণকে কহিলেন, এই কারণ আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, ‘কি ভোজন করিব’ বলিয়া প্রাণের বিষয়ে, কিম্বা ‘কি পরিব’ বলিয়া শরীরের বিষয়ে ভাবিত হইও না।
23 কেননা ভক্ষ্য হইতে প্রাণ ও বস্ত্র হইতে শরীর বড় বিষয়।
24 কাকদের বিষয় আলোচনা কর; তাহারা বুনেও না, কাটেও না; তাহাদের ভাণ্ডারও নাই, গোলাঘরও নাই; আর ঈশ্বর তাহাদিগকে আহার দিয়া থাকেন;
25 পক্ষিগণ হইতে তোমরা কত অধিক শ্রেষ্ঠ! আর তোমাদের মধ্যে কে ভাবিত হইয়া আপন বয়স এক হস্তমাত্র বৃদ্ধি করিতে পারে?
26 অতএব তোমরা অতি ক্ষুদ্র কর্ম্মও যদি করিতে না পার, তবে অন্য অন্য বিষয়ে কেন ভাবিত হও?
27 কানুড়পুষ্পের বিষয় বিবেচনা কর, সেগুলি কেমন বাড়ে; সে সকল কোন শ্রম করে না, সূতাও কাটে না, তথাপি আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, শলোমনও আপনার সমস্ত প্রতাপে ইহার একটীর ন্যায় সুসজ্জিত ছিলেন না।
28 ভাল, ক্ষেত্রের যে তৃণ আজ আছে ও কাল চুলায় ফেলিয়া দেওয়া যাইবে, তাহা যদি ঈশ্বর এরূপ বিভূষিত করেন, তবে হে অল্পবিশ্বাসীরা, তোমাদিগকে কত অধিক নিশ্চয় বিভূষিত করিবেন!
29 আর, কি ভোজন করিবে, কি পান করিবে, এ বিষয়ে তোমরা সচেষ্ট হইও না, এবং সন্দিগ্ধচিত্ত হইও না;
30 কেননা জগতের জাতিগণ এই সকল বিষয়ে সচেষ্ট; কিন্তু তোমাদের পিতা জানেন যে, এই সকল দ্রব্যে তোমাদের প্রয়োজন আছে।
31 তোমরা বরং তাঁহার রাজ্যের বিষয়ে সচেষ্ট হও, তাহা হইলে এই সকলও তোমাদিগকে দেওয়া যাইবে।
32 হে ক্ষুদ্র মেষপাল, ভয় করিও না, কেননা তোমাদিগকে সেই রাজ্য দিতে তোমাদের পিতার হিতসঙ্কল্প হইয়াছে।
33 তোমাদের যাহা আছে, বিক্রয় করিয়া দান কর। আপনাদের জন্য এমন থলী প্রস্তুত কর, যাহা জীর্ণ হয় না, স্বর্গে অক্ষয় ধন সঞ্চয় কর, যেখানে চোর নিকটে আইসে না, কীটেও ক্ষয় করে না;
34 কেননা যেখানে তোমাদের ধন, সেইখানে তোমাদের মনও থাকিবে।
35 তোমাদের কটি বাঁধিয়া রাখ ও প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়া রাখ;
36 এবং তোমরা এমন লোকদের তুল্য হও, যাহারা আপনাদের প্রভুর অপেক্ষায় থাকে যে, তিনি বিবাহ-ভোজ হইতে কখন ফিরিয়া আসিবেন, যেন তিনি আসিয়া দ্বারে আঘাত করিলে তাহারা তখনই তাঁহার নিমিত্ত দ্বার খুলিয়া দিতে পারে।
37 ধন্য সেই দাসেরা, যাহাদিগকে প্রভু আসিয়া জাগিয়া থাকিতে দেখিবেন। আমি তোমাদিগকে সত্য বলিতেছি, তিনি কটি বাঁধিয়া তাহাদিগকে ভোজনে বসাইবেন, এবং নিকটে আসিয়া তাহাদের পরিচর্য্যা করিবেন।
38 যদি দ্বিতীয় প্রহরে কিম্বা যদি তৃতীয় প্রহরে আসিয়া তিনি সেইরূপ দেখেন, তবে তাহারা ধন্য।
39 কিন্তু ইহা জানিও, চোর কোন্‌ দণ্ডে আসিবে, তাহা যদি গৃহকর্ত্তা জানিত, তবে জাগিয়া থাকিত, নিজ গৃহে সিঁধ কাটিতে দিত না।
40 তোমরাও প্রস্তুত থাক; কেননা যে দণ্ড মনে করিবে না, সেই দণ্ডে মনুষ্যপুত্র আসিবেন।
41 তখন পিতর বলিলেন, প্রভু, আপনি কি আমাদিগকে, না সকলকেই এই দৃষ্টান্ত বলিতেছেন?
42 প্রভু কহিলেন, সেই বিশ্বস্ত, সেই বুদ্ধিমান্‌ গৃহাধ্যক্ষ কে, যাহাকে তাহার প্রভু নিজ পরিজনদের উপরে নিযুক্ত করিবেন, যেন সে তাহাদিগকে উপযুক্ত সময়ে খাদ্যের নিরূপিত অংশ দেয়?
43 ধন্য সেই দাস, যাহাকে তাহার প্রভু আসিয়া সেইরূপ করিতে দেখিবেন।
44 আমি তোমাদিগকে সত্য বলিতেছি, তিনি তাহাকে আপন সর্ব্বস্বের অধ্যক্ষ করিয়া নিযুক্ত করিবেন।
45 কিন্তু সেই দাস যদি মনে মনে বলে, আমার প্রভুর আসিবার বিলম্ব আছে, এবং সে দাস দাসীদিগকে প্রহার করিতে, ভোজন পান করিতে ও মত্ত হইতে আরম্ভ করে,
46 তবে যে দিন সে অপেক্ষা না করিবে, ও যে দণ্ড সে না জানিবে, সেই দিন সেই দণ্ডে সেই দাসের প্রভু আসিবেন, এবং তাহাকে দ্বিখণ্ড করিয়া অবিশ্বস্তদের মধ্যে তাহার অংশ নিরূপণ করিবেন।
47 আর সেই দাস, যে নিজ প্রভুর ইচ্ছা জানিয়াও প্রস্তুত হয় নাই, ও তাঁহার ইচ্ছানুযায়ী কর্ম্ম করে নাই, সে অনেক প্রহারে প্রহারিত হইবে।
48 কিন্তু যে না জানিয়া প্রহারের যোগ্য কর্ম্ম করিয়াছে, সে অল্প প্রহারে প্রহারিত হইবে। আর যে কোন ব্যক্তিকে অধিক দত্ত হইয়াছে, তাহার নিকটে অধিক দাবি করা যাইবে; এবং লোকে যাহার কাছে অধিক রাখিয়াছে, তাহার নিকটে অধিক চাহিবে।
49 আমি পৃথিবীতে অগ্নি নিক্ষেপ করিতে আসিয়াছি; আর এখন যদি তাহা প্রজ্বলিত হইয়া থাকে, তবে আর চাই কি?
50 কিন্তু আমাকে এক বাপ্তিস্মে বাপ্তাইজিত হইতে হইবে, আর তাহা যাবৎ সিদ্ধ না হয়, তাবৎ আমি কত না সঙ্কুচিত হইতেছি!
51 তোমরা কি মনে করিতেছ, আমি পৃথিবীতে শান্তি দিতে আসিয়াছি? তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, তাহা নয়, বরং বিভেদ।
52 কারণ এখন অবধি এক বাটীতে পাঁচ জন ভিন্ন হইবে, তিন জন দুই জনের বিপক্ষে, ও দুই জন তিন জনের বিপক্ষে;
53 পিতা পুত্রের বিপক্ষে, এবং পুত্র পিতার বিপক্ষে; মাতা কন্যার বিপক্ষে, এবং কন্যা মাতার বিপক্ষে; শাশুড়ী বধূর বিপক্ষে, এবং বধূ শাশুড়ীর বিপক্ষে ভিন্ন হইবে।
54 আর তিনি লোকসমূহকে কহিলেন, তোমরা যখন পশ্চিমে মেঘ উঠিতে দেখ, তখন অমনি বলিয়া থাক, বৃষ্টি আসিতেছে; আর সেইরূপই ঘটে।
55 আর যখন দক্ষিণ বাতাস বহিতে দেখ, তখন বলিয়া থাক, বড় রৌদ্র হইবে; এবং তাহাই ঘটে।
56 কপটীরা, তোমরা পৃথিবীর ও আকাশের ভাব বুঝিতে পার, কিন্তু এই সময় বুঝিতে পার না, এ কেমন?
57 আর ন্যায্য কি, তাহা আপনারাই কেন বিচার কর না?
58 ফলতঃ যখন বিপক্ষের সঙ্গে শাসনকর্ত্তার নিকটে যাইবে, পথের মধ্যে তাহা হইতে মুক্তি পাইতে যত্ন করিও; পাছে সে তোমাকে বিচারকর্ত্তার সম্মুখে টানিয়া লইয়া যায়, আর বিচারকর্ত্তা তোমাকে পদাতিকের হস্তে সমর্পণ করে, এবং পদাতিক তোমাকে কারাগারে নিক্ষেপ করে।
59 আমি তোমাকে বলিতেছি, যাবৎ শেষ কড়িটী পর্য্যন্ত পরিশোধ না করিবে, তাবৎ তুমি কোন মতে তথা হইতে বাহিরে আসিতে পাইবে না।
