1 আর করগ্রাহী ও পাপীরা সকলে তাঁহার বাক্য শুনিবার জন্য তাঁহার নিকটে আসিতেছিল।

2 তাহাতে ফরীশীরা ও অধ্যাপকেরা বচসা করিয়া বলিতে লাগিল, এ ব্যক্তি পাপীদিগকে গ্রহণ করে, ও তাহাদের সহিত আহার ব্যবহার করে।

3 তখন তিনি তাহাদিগকে এই দৃষ্টান্ত কহিলেন।

4 তোমাদের মধ্যে কোন্‌ ব্যক্তি—যাহার এক শত মেষ আছে, ও সেই সকলের মধ্যে একটী হারাইয়া যায়—নিরানব্বইটা প্রান্তরে ছাড়িয়া যায় না, আর যে পর্য্যন্ত সেই হারাণটী না পায়, সে পর্য্যন্ত তাহার অন্বেষণ করিতে যায় না?

5 আর তাহা পাইলে সে আনন্দপূর্ব্বক কাঁধে তুলিয়া লয়।

6 পরে ঘরে আসিয়া বন্ধু বান্ধব ও প্রতিবাসীদিগকে ডাকিয়া বলে, আমার সঙ্গে আনন্দ কর, কারণ আমার যে মেষটী হারাইয়া গিয়াছিল, তাহা পাইয়াছি।

7 আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, তদ্রূপ এক জন পাপী মন ফিরাইলে স্বর্গে আনন্দ হইবে; যাহাদের মন ফিরান অনাবশ্যক, এমন নিরানব্বই জন ধার্ম্মিকের বিষয়ে তত আনন্দ হইবে না।

8 অথবা কোন্‌ স্ত্রীলোক, যাহার দশটী সিকি আছে, সে যদি একটী হারাইয়া ফেলে, তবে প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়া ঘর ঝাঁটি দিয়া যে পর্য্যন্ত তাহা না পায়, ভাল করিয়া খুঁজিয়া দেখে না?

9 আর পাইলে পর সে বন্ধু বান্ধব ও প্রতিবাসিনীগণকে ডাকিয়া বলে, আমার সঙ্গে আনন্দ কর, কারণ আমি যে সিকিটী হারাইয়া ফেলিয়াছিলাম, তাহা পাইয়াছি।

10 তদ্রূপ, আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, এক জন পাপী মন ফিরাইলে ঈশ্বরের দূতগণের সাক্ষাতে আনন্দ হয়।

11 আর তিনি কহিলেন, এক ব্যক্তির দুই পুত্র ছিল;

12 তাহাদের মধ্যে কনিষ্ঠ আপন পিতাকে কহিল, পিতঃ, সম্পত্তির যে অংশ আমার ভাগে পড়ে, তাহা আমাকে দেও। তাহাতে তিনি তাহাদের মধ্যে ধন বিভাগ করিয়া দিলেন।

13 অল্প দিন পরে সেই কনিষ্ঠ পুত্র সমস্ত একত্র করিয়া লইয়া দূরদেশে চলিয়া গেল, আর তথায় সে অনাচারে নিজ সম্পত্তি উড়াইয়া দিল।

14 সে সমস্ত ব্যয় করিয়া ফেলিলে পর সেই দেশে ভারী আকাল হইল, তাহাতে সে কষ্টে পড়িতে লাগিল।

15 তখন সে গিয়া সেই দেশের এক জন গৃহস্থের আশ্রয় লইল; আর সে তাহাকে শূকর চরাইবার জন্য আপনার মাঠে পাঠাইয়া দিল;

16 তখন, শূকরে যে শুঁটী খাইত, তাহা দিয়া সে উদর পূর্ণ করিতে বাঞ্ছা করিত, আর কেহই তাহাকে দিত না।

17 কিন্তু চেতনা পাইলে সে বলিল, আমার পিতার কত মজুর বেশী বেশী খাদ্য পাইতেছে, কিন্তু আমি এখানে ক্ষুধায় মরিতেছি।

18 আমি উঠিয়া আমার পিতার নিকটে যাইব, তাঁহাকে বলিব, পিতঃ, স্বর্গের বিরুদ্ধে এবং তোমার সাক্ষাতে আমি পাপ করিয়াছি;

19 আমি আর তোমার পুত্র নামের যোগ্য নই; তোমার এক জন মজুরের মত আমাকে রাখ।

20 পরে সে উঠিয়া আপন পিতার নিকটে আসিল। সে দূরে থাকিতেই তাহার পিতা তাহাকে দেখিতে পাইলেন, ও করুণাবিষ্ট হইলেন, আর দৌড়িয়া গিয়া তাহার গলা ধরিয়া তাহাকে চুম্বন করিতে থাকিলেন।

21 তখন পুত্র তাঁহাকে কহিল, পিতঃ, স্বর্গের বিরুদ্ধে ও তোমার সাক্ষাতে আমি পাপ করিয়াছি, আমি আর তোমার পুত্র নামের যোগ্য নই।

22 কিন্তু পিতা আপন দাসদিগকে বলিলেন, শীঘ্র করিয়া সব চেয়ে ভাল কাপড়খানি আন, আর ইহাকে পরাইয়া দেও, এবং ইহার হাতে অঙ্গুরী দেও ও পায়ে জুতা দেও;

23 আর হৃষ্টপুষ্ট বাছুরটী আনিয়া মার; আমরা ভোজন করিয়া আমোদ প্রমোদ করি;

24 কারণ আমার এই পুত্র মরিয়া গিয়াছিল, এখন বাঁচিল; হারাইয়া গিয়াছিল, এখন পাওয়া গেল। তাহাতে তাহারা আমোদ প্রমোদ করিতে লাগিল।

25 তখন তাঁহার জ্যেষ্ঠ পুত্র ক্ষেত্রে ছিল; পরে সে আসিতে আসিতে যখন বাটীর নিকটে পঁহুছিল, তখন বাদ্য ও নৃত্যের শব্দ শুনিতে পাইল।

26 আর সে এক জন দাসকে কাছে ডাকিয়া জিজ্ঞাসা করিল, এ সকল কি?

27 সে তাহাকে বলিল, তোমার ভাই আসিয়াছে, এবং তোমার পিতা হৃষ্টপুষ্ট বাছুরটী মারিয়াছেন, কেননা তিনি তাহাকে সুস্থ পাইয়াছেন।

28 তাহাতে সে ক্রুদ্ধ হইয়া উঠিল, ভিতরে যাইতে চাহিল না; তখন তাহার পিতা বাহিরে আসিয়া তাহাকে সাধ্যসাধনা করিতে লাগিলেন।

29 কিন্তু সে উত্তর করিয়া পিতাকে কহিল, দেখ, এত বৎসর আমি তোমার সেবা করিয়া আসিতেছি, কখনও তোমার আজ্ঞা লঙ্ঘন করি নাই, তথাপি আমাকে কখনও একটী ছাগবৎস দেও নাই, যেন আমি নিজ মিত্রগণের সহিত আমোদ প্রমোদ করিতে পারি;

30 কিন্তু তোমার এই যে পুত্র বেশ্যাদের সঙ্গে তোমার ধন খাইয়া ফেলিয়াছে, সে যখন আসিল, তাহারই জন্য হৃষ্টপুষ্ট বাছুরটী মারিলে।

31 তিনি তাহাকে বলিলেন, বৎস, তুমি সর্ব্বদাই আমার সঙ্গে আছ, আর যাহা যাহা আমার, সকলই তোমার।

32 কিন্তু আমাদের আমোদ প্রমোদ ও আনন্দ করা উচিত হইয়াছে, কারণ তোমার এই ভাই মরিয়া গিয়াছিল, এখন বাঁচিল; হারাইয়া গিয়াছিল, এখন পাওয়া গেল।

10 Likewise, ^G3779 I say ^G3004 unto you, ^G5213 there is ^G1096 joy ^G5479 in the presence ^G1799 of the ^G3588 angels ^G32 of God ^G2316 over ^G1909 one ^G1520 sinner ^G268 that repenteth. ^G3340

17 And ^G1161 when he came ^G2064 to ^G1519 himself, ^G1438 he said, ^G2036 How many ^G4214 hired servants ^G3407 of my ^G3450 father's ^G3962 have bread enough and to spare ^G4052 ^G740 , and ^G1161 I ^G1473 perish ^G622 with hunger ^G3042 !

18 I will arise ^G450 and go ^G4198 to ^G4314 my ^G3450 father, ^G3962 and ^G2532 will say ^G2046 unto him, ^G846 Father, ^G3962 I have sinned ^G264 against ^G1519 heaven, ^G3772 and ^G2532 before ^G1799 thee, ^G4675

19 And ^G2532 am ^G1510 no more ^G3765 worthy ^G514 to be called ^G2564 thy ^G4675 son: ^G5207 make ^G4160 me ^G3165 as ^G5613 one ^G1520 of thy ^G4675 hired servants. ^G3407

20 And ^G2532 he arose, ^G450 and came ^G2064 to ^G4314 his ^G1438 father. ^G3962 But ^G1161 when he ^G846 was yet a great way off ^G568 G2089, ^G3112 his ^G846 father ^G3962 saw ^G1492 him, ^G846 and ^G2532 had compassion, ^G4697 and ^G2532 ran, ^G5143 and fell ^G1968 on ^G1909 his ^G846 neck, ^G5137 and ^G2532 kissed ^G2705 him. ^G846

22 But ^G1161 the ^G3588 father ^G3962 said ^G2036 to ^G4314 his ^G848 servants, ^G1401 Bring forth ^G1627 the ^G3588 best ^G4413 robe, ^G4749 and ^G2532 put it on ^G1746 him; ^G846 and ^G2532 put ^G1325 a ring ^G1146 on ^G1519 his ^G846 hand, ^G5495 and ^G2532 shoes ^G5266 on ^G1519 his feet: ^G4228

23 And ^G2532 bring hither ^G5342 the ^G3588 fatted ^G4618 calf, ^G3448 and kill ^G2380 it ; and ^G2532 let us eat, ^G5315 and be merry: ^G2165

31 And ^G1161 he ^G3588 said ^G2036 unto him, ^G846 Son, ^G5043 thou ^G4771 art ^G1488 ever ^G3842 with ^G3326 me, ^G1700 and ^G2532 all ^G3956 that I have ^G1699 is ^G2076 thine. ^G4674

32 It ^G1161 was meet ^G1163 that we should make merry, ^G2165 and ^G2532 be glad: ^G5463 for ^G3754 this ^G3778 thy ^G4675 brother ^G80 was ^G2258 dead, ^G3498 and ^G2532 is alive again; ^G326 and ^G2532 was ^G2258 lost, ^G622 and ^G2532 is found. ^G2147
