1 1 তিনি বিস্তর লোক দেখিয়া পর্ব্বতে উঠিলেন; আর তিনি বসিলে পর তাঁহার শিষ্যেরা তাঁহার নিকটে আসিলেন।
2 তখন তিনি মুখ খুলিয়া তাঁহাদিগকে এই উপদেশ দিতে লাগিলেন—
3 ধন্য যাহারা আত্মাতে দীনহীন, কারণ স্বর্গ-রাজ্য তাহাদেরই।
4 ধন্য যাহারা শোক করে, কারণ তাহারা সান্ত্বনা পাইবে।
5 ধন্য যাহারা মৃদুশীল, কারণ তাহারা দেশের অধিকারী হইবে।
6 ধন্য যাহারা ধার্ম্মিকতার জন্য ক্ষুধিত ও তৃষিত, কারণ তাহারা পরিতৃপ্ত হইবে।
7 ধন্য যাহারা দয়াশীল, কারণ তাহারা দয়া পাইবে।
8 ধন্য যাহারা নির্ম্মলান্তঃকরণ, কারণ তাহারা ঈশ্বরের দর্শন পাইবে।
9 ধন্য যাহারা মিলন করিয়া দেয়, কারণ তাহারা ঈশ্বরের পুত্র বলিয়া আখ্যাত হইবে।
10 ধন্য যাহারা ধার্ম্মিকতার জন্য তাড়িত হইয়াছে, কারণ স্বর্গ-রাজ্য তাহাদেরই।
11 ধন্য তোমরা, যখন লোকে আমার জন্য তোমাদিগকে নিন্দা ও তাড়না করে, এবং মিথ্যা করিয়া তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে সর্ব্বপ্রকার মন্দ কথা বলে।
12 আনন্দ করিও, উল্লাসিত হইও, কেননা স্বর্গে তোমাদের পুরস্কার প্রচুর; কারণ তোমাদের পূর্ব্বে যে ভাববাদিগণ ছিলেন, তাঁহাদিগকে তাহারা সেই মত তাড়না করিত।
13 তোমরা পৃথিবীর লবণ, কিন্তু লবণের স্বাদ যদি যায়, তবে তাহা কি প্রকারে লবণের গুণবিশিষ্ট করা যাইবে? তাহা আর কোন কার্য্যে লাগে না, কেবল বাহিরে ফেলিয়া দিবার ও লোকের পদতলে দলিত হইবার যোগ্য হয়।
14 তোমরা জগতের দীপ্তি; পর্ব্বতের উপরে স্থিত নগর গুপ্ত থাকিতে পারে না।
15 আর লোকে প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়া কাঠার নীচে রাখে না, কিন্তু দীপাধারের উপরেই রাখে, তাহাতে তাহা গৃহস্থিত সকল লোককে আলো দেয়।
16 তদ্রূপ তোমাদের দীপ্তি মনুষ্যদের সাক্ষাতে উজ্জ্বল হউক, যেন তাহারা তোমাদের সৎক্রিয়া দেখিয়া তোমাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতার গৌরব করে।
17 মনে করিও না যে, আমি ব্যবস্থা কি ভাববাদিগ্রন্থ লোপ করিতে আসিয়াছি; আমি লোপ করিতে আসি নাই, কিন্তু পূর্ণ করিতে আসিয়াছি।
18 কেননা আমি তোমাদিগকে সত্য কহিতেছি, যে পর্য্যন্ত আকাশ ও পৃথিবী লুপ্ত না হইবে, সে পর্য্যন্ত ব্যবস্থার এক মাত্রা কি এক বিন্দুও লুপ্ত হইবে না, সমস্তই সফল হইবে।
19 অতএব যে কেহ এই সকল ক্ষুদ্রতম আজ্ঞার মধ্যে কোন একটী আজ্ঞা লঙ্ঘন করে, ও লোকদিগকে সেইরূপ শিক্ষা দেয়, তাহাকে স্বর্গরাজ্যে অতি ক্ষুদ্র বলা যাইবে; কিন্তু যে কেহ সে সকল পালন করে ও শিক্ষা দেয়, তাহাকে স্বর্গ-রাজ্যে মহান্‌ বলা যাইবে।
20 কেননা আমি তোমাদিগকে কহিতেছি, অধ্যাপক ও ফরীশীদের অপেক্ষা তোমাদের ধার্ম্মিকতা যদি অধিক না হয়, তবে তোমরা কোন মতে স্বর্গ-রাজ্যে প্রবেশ করিতে পাইবে না।
21 তোমরা শুনিয়াছ, পূর্ব্বকালীয় লোকদের নিকটে উক্ত হইয়াছিল, “তুমি নরহত্যা করিও না,” আর ‘যে নরহত্যা করে, সে বিচারের দায়ে পড়িবে’।
22 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে কহিতেছি, যে কেহ আপন ভ্রাতার প্রতি ক্রোধ করে, সে বিচারের দায়ে পড়িবে; আর যে কেহ আপন ভ্রাতাকে বলে, ‘রে নির্ব্বোধ,’ সে মহাসভার দায়ে পড়িবে। আর যে কেহ বলে, ‘রে মূঢ়,’ সে অগ্নিময় নরকের দায়ে পড়িবে।
23 অতএব তুমি যখন যজ্ঞবেদির নিকটে আপন নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করিতেছ, তখন সেই স্থানে যদি মনে পড়ে যে, তোমার বিরুদ্ধে তোমার ভ্রাতার কোন কথা আছে,
24 তবে সেই স্থানে বেদির সম্মুখে তোমার নৈবেদ্য রাখ, আর চলিয়া যাও, প্রথমে তোমার ভ্রাতার সহিত সম্মিলিত হও, পরে আসিয়া তোমার নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করিও।
25 তুমি যখন বিপক্ষের সঙ্গে পথে থাক, তখন তাহার সহিত শীঘ্র মিলন করিও, পাছে বিপক্ষ তোমাকে বিচারকর্ত্তার হস্তে সমর্পণ করে, ও বিচারকর্ত্তা তোমাকে পেয়াদার হস্তে সমর্পণ করে, আর তুমি কারাগারে নিক্ষিপ্ত হও।
26 আমি তোমাকে সত্য কহিতেছি, যাবৎ শেষ কড়িটা পর্য্যন্ত পরিশোধ না করিবে, তাবৎ তুমি কোন মতে সেখান হইতে বাহিরে আসিতে পাইবে না।
27 তোমরা শুনিয়াছ, উক্ত হইয়াছিল,
28 “তুমি ব্যভিচার করিও না”। কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, যে কেহ কোন স্ত্রীলোকের প্রতি কামভাবে দৃষ্টিপাত করে, সে তখনই মনে মনে তাহার সহিত ব্যভিচার করিল।
29 আর তোমার দক্ষিণ চক্ষু যদি তোমার বিঘ্ন জন্মায়, তবে তাহা উপড়াইয়া দূরে ফেলিয়া দেও; কেননা তোমার সমস্ত শরীর নরকে নিক্ষিপ্ত হওয়া অপেক্ষা বরং এক অঙ্গের নাশ হওয়া তোমার পক্ষে ভাল।
30 আর তোমার দক্ষিণ হস্ত যদি তোমার বিঘ্ন জন্মায়, তবে তাহা কাটিয়া দূরে ফেলিয়া দেও; কেননা তোমার সমস্ত শরীর নরকে যাওয়া অপেক্ষা বরং এক অঙ্গের নাশ হওয়া তোমার পক্ষে ভাল।
31 আর উক্ত হইয়াছিল, “যে কেহ আপন স্ত্রীকে পরিত্যাগ করে, সে তাহাকে ত্যাগপত্র দিউক” ।
32 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, যে কেহ ব্যভিচার ভিন্ন অন্য কারণে আপন স্ত্রীকে পরিত্যাগ করে, সে তাহাকে ব্যভিচারিণী করে; এবং যে ব্যক্তি সেই পরিত্যক্তা স্ত্রীকে বিবাহ করে, সে ব্যভিচার করে।
33 আবার তোমরা শুনিয়াছ, পূর্ব্বকালীয় লোকদের নিকটে উক্ত হইয়াছিল, ‘তুমি মিথ্যা দিব্য করিও না, কিন্তু প্রভুর উদ্দেশে তোমার দিব্য সকল পালন করিও।’
34 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, কোন দিব্যই করিও না; স্বর্গের দিব্য করিও না, কেননা তাহা ঈশ্বরের সিংহাসন; এবং পৃথিবীর দিব্য করিও না, কেননা তাহা তাঁহার পাদপীঠ;
35 আর যিরূশালেমের দিব্য করিও না, কেননা তাহা মহান্‌ রাজার নগরী।
36 আর তোমার মাথার দিব্য করিও না, কেননা একগাছি চুল সাদা কি কাল করিবার সাধ্য তোমার নাই।
37 কিন্তু তোমাদের কথা হাঁ, হাঁ, না, না, হউক; ইহার অতিরিক্ত যাহা, তাহা মন্দ হইতে জন্মে।
38 তোমরা শুনিয়াছ, উক্ত হইয়াছিল, “চক্ষুর পরিশোধে চক্ষু ও দন্তের পরিশোধে দন্ত”।
39 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, তোমরা দুষ্টের প্রতিরোধ করিও না; বরং যে কেহ তোমার দক্ষিণ গালে চড় মারে, অন্য গাল তাহার দিকে ফিরাইয়া দেও।
40 আর যে তোমার সহিত বিচার-স্থানে বিবাদ করিয়া তোমার আঙ্‌রাখা লইতে চায়, তাহাকে চোগাও লইতে দেও।
41 আর যে কেহ এক ক্রোশ যাইতে তোমাকে পীড়াপীড়ি করে, তাহার সঙ্গে দুই ক্রোশ যাও।
42 যে তোমার কাছে যাচ্ঞা করে, তাহাকে দেও; এবং যে তোমার নিকটে ধার চায়, তাহা হইতে বিমুখ হইও না।
43 তোমরা শুনিয়াছ, উক্ত হইয়াছিল, “তোমার প্রতিবাসীকে প্রেম করিবে,” এবং ‘তোমার শত্রুকে দ্বেষ করিবে’।
44 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদিগকে বলিতেছি, তোমরা আপন আপন শত্রুদিগকে প্রেম করিও, এবং যাহারা তোমাদিগকে তাড়না করে, তাহাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করিও;
45 যেন তোমরা আপনাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতার সন্তান হও, কারণ তিনি ভাল মন্দ লোকদের উপরে আপনার সূর্য্য উদিত করেন, এবং ধার্ম্মিক অধার্ম্মিকগণের উপরে জল বর্ষান।
46 কেননা যাহারা তোমাদিগকে প্রেম করে, তাহাদিগকেই প্রেম করিলে তোমাদের কি পুরস্কার হইবে? করগ্রাহীরাও কি সেই মত করে না?
47 আর তোমরা যদি কেবল আপন আপন ভ্রাতৃগণকে মঙ্গলবাদ কর, তবে অধিক কি কর্ম্ম কর? পরজাতীয়েরাও কি সেইরূপ করে না?
48 অতএব তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা যেমন সিদ্ধ, তোমরাও তেমনি সিদ্ধ হও।
