1 যদি সদাপ্রভু গৃহ নির্ম্মাণ না করেন, তবে নির্ম্মাতারা বৃথাই পরিশ্রম করে; যদি সদাপ্রভু নগর রক্ষা না করেন, রক্ষক বৃথাই জাগরণ করে।
2 বৃথাই তোমরা প্রত্যূষে উঠ ও বিলম্বে শয়ন কর, এবং পরিশ্রমের খাদ্য ভক্ষণ কর, তিনি আপন প্রিয়পাত্রকে নিদ্রাযোগে এইরূপ দেন।
3 দেখ, সন্তানেরা সদাপ্রভুদত্ত অধিকার, গর্ভের ফল তাঁহার দত্ত পুরস্কার।
4 যেমন বীরের হস্তে বাণ সকল, তেমনি যৌবনের সন্তানগণ।
5 ধন্য সেই পুরুষ, যাহার তূণ তাদৃশ বাণে পরিপূর্ণ; তাহারা লজ্জিত হইবে না, যখন তাহারা পুরদ্বারে শত্রুগণের সহিত কথা কহে।
